I went in because Tony's was highly recommended to me and boy am I hooked!!! Costumer service is great and let alone the food. My husband who is a very picky eater, love love loves this place. I now understand how this place has soooooo many great reviews. So since we were in the area, I wanted to try this place out for sometime. As soon as you walk in, you're greated as if you're family. They have a deli counter with all the goodies and a hot food section as well. And then you can take some frozen ravioli, pasta and other Italian goodies home. I decided to order the "Tony's Special " after some of my fellow Yelpers on a hero with a combination of sweet and spicy peppers. Then Tony offered us to try some frozen cappuccino. Wow!!! Sooo freaking good! Tony was great! Treated us like family and even offered if we wanted to try anything else. Honestly we didnt need to, it smelled amazing in there and with his dad making the fresh mozzarella and his mom in the back cooking, we already knew we had to take some plates home. After we got our sandwiches(yes because my BF ordered the same as me) they have a sitting area. They were nice enough to hold my hot food while we sat down to enjoy our sandwiches and frozen cappuccino. Btw the staff there is great too! Wow their sandwiches are yummy and huge. I've never been to the deli, but I've been eating the sandwiches here for years. I work in LIC/Astoria, and have a few coworkers that live by the deli. I always ask them to grab me a sandwich and a frozen cappuccino on their way in to work, and every single time, I tell myself it's the best sandwich I've ever had. The cutlets are so fresh, the produce and bread are also fresh. The sandwiches are perfect. Cold cuts are top quality as is everything I've had from there. My husband and I went today and first I'll say I loved the atmosphere, the interaction between the staff and customers who came in was great jokes all around. The sample of ice cappuccino was Amazing! I ordered penne Ala vodka and a Tony's special and my husband got the penne with chicken. This is hands down one of the best pennes I've ever had!! I'm not in love. I don't hate it. During lunch time I understand it gets busy so wait time can be a bit long. But seriously.. I went a couple of times when they had nothing going on and the wait was over 10 minutes to pay for something simple like a tea which takes 2 minutes TOPS. Oh and by nothing going on i mean 3 people in the store including myself and 1 of those was just chatting It up with the guy working the counter. So.. Am I suppose to wait till you're done chatting? You have people online waiting to be served or waiting to pay. You could just take care of them first and then continue your convo. Just saying. Now, as far as food, I have to say I tried their eggplant parmigiana and it tasted amazing. However, sadly, when i got past the first layer it was nothing more than a pool of oil at the bottom of the container. I couldn't eat it and it went to waste. TRY THEIR FROZEN CAPPUCCINO. You haven't lived life yet until you've tried it. Their soups are good and their fruits are always fresh and inexpensive. Tried their rice pudding once which was also good. I've heard their wraps are good as well however, i never got to try because I'm scared I might be stuck in the store 30 minutes or more just waiting for it. If you've got time.. TIME.. Then sure. Go. Outstanding deli... visited a few months ago and forgot to write a review but I would give this place ten stars if I could. My boys and I were welcomed by every single staff member as soon as we walked in and were given frozen coffee while waiting for our food. I joined the gym down the block after moving onto bell blvd in bayside I saw the big Sign and remembered watching Action Bronson come here on his show so I had to stop by.
