Saw this place on hulu last night and decided to check it out. Best decision of the month! I got tonys special, eggplant parm, tomato mozzarella salad, and cole slaw. Everything was sooooo good! I liked the eggplant parm the best. The breading was light but enough to stick on eggplant and absorb all that good flavor/sauce. Tonys special was HUGE with generous portion of meat and fresh veggies. 100 times better than subway!! The tom/moz salad was really good too - the home made moz cannot be compared to store bought ones. The best part about this store was customer service tho. Went for the first time a couple days ago because I was randomly in the area. Got honey turkey, swiss, etc.. on a roll, tasted a1. I wish I could give Tony's 6 stars. It was my first time here and from the moment I walked in I was greeted and asked to stand in the designated areas given the current circumstances we are in. It was nice to see they take precaution for these crazy times. I was told the Paninis are the absolute best here. I ordered a Chicken Cutlet Pesto Panini and an Eggplant Panini for my Mom. She says it was the best sandwich she has EVER had. My sandwich was absolutely delicious. I also was told that Mom Josephine cooks the best Penne alla Vodka, so I ordered a small order to taste. It was sooo yummy and I was disappointed in myself for not getting more. As I watched the line of customers slowly walk out the door with their orders, each one also ordered an iced cappuccino. Obviously if everyone is ordering one, I thought I should too. I do NOT regret it. I have to get one every time I go now. Angelo took care of my order and what a nice guy! Towards the end when my panini was almost ready, he thanked me for waiting patiently. They take their time with everything they make, you can tell it's made with love. I was greeted by Tommy at the register. Not even knowing me for a moment, he was so friendly sharing a personal story with me about his new gym. I travel from the edge of Nassau to this deli because to be completely honest, no one has a better deli. From the homemade food to the sandwiches, drinks and selection of chips, you can't compare. Food is great. I shop here plenty of times. The family is always friendly and great. My concern is that I come here and see a man, not sure who he is. One day he looks like a maintenance guy and I have also seen him with an apron. He's loud and sometimes offensive. He's bald and looks Asian. Sometime wears a hat. He says he's affiliated with the place. Is he an owner? Partner? Today he was there in the hot food area without a mask and touching things without gloves. Everyone else was wearing a mask including customers. I am concerned that If he is affiliated and not wearing a mask in the front of the store where all the customers see him. What's he doing in the back without a mask or gloves. Especially during this pandemic of Covid-19. I don't feel comfortable coming here now. I heard other people comment in the deli as well. Who ever is the real owner should tell him to be more respectful with his language and also to wear a mask if he's a worker or partner. He could be potentially putting people in danger. read more

An interesting spot in this very residential and out of the way neighborhood, where this little commercial strip has a high number of vacant properties. Tony's is a special oasis here and for its quality and provision of this resource to a neighborhood that needs it, I'll give it five stars even though I should knock it down for its higher prices. I came here a few days ago and got two excellent paninis and a minute maid fruit punch. Total cost: 17.25. The paninis are a bit high, at $7 and $8, and they took maybe ten minutes to make, but it's true that every ingredient was delectable. It is clearly all fresh: the mozzarella, roast pepper, and eggplant that I got. That's really special. It's the exception at delis, where food sits in bins and "lettuce" means pale green shreds. Here the bread is homemmade and perfect, and the scene is based on regulars. Prices are not posted. If, as one commenter says, they charge different amounts to different people, I don't feel so good about that. read more

Extremely friendly staff - made me feel so welcomed when I walked in and asked if I needed any help. We went on a Thursday morning and there were no lines. I shared the Tony's Special and the frozen cappuccino. The Tony's Special was delicious and super generous in layers of sopressata, pepperoni, and mortadella. They even put a combo of the hot/sweet peppers and oil on the side so that the sandwich would not get soggy. The frozen cappuccino tastes like ice cream and was so good - even good a few hours later. What to expect when you come: Warm and super friendly guys (I shook hands with three different people, this was my first time in the shop). I just finished half of the meatball parm on semolina and it's outstanding. Homemade meatballs, fresh-made mozzarella, on a really nice roll. What's not to like? The cucumber salad was probably the best I've ever had with tomatoes and onions and carrots and other stuff that I don't even know. Italian delis in Queens are few and far between but this place has existed for so long for a very good reason. Small mom and pop deli with great food. The food is always fresh because they have a lot of customers. The staff is very friendly. I live their pasta dishes. Their mom is the cook so it's like grandmas cooking. They have penne vodka with chicken parm that is amazing. They also have a frozen cappuccino the only thing I wish they had an option with no sugar otherwise that's stuff is addictive. They don't deliver but you can order ahead of time. When I told the owners son, he was apologetic although he didn't offer for my purchase that day to be on the house after hearing about my nephew. This is by far my favorite spot in the neighborhood. Everyone who works the counter is an absolute pleasure. There's been a few times where I've had to lug in all three of my little kids and everyone has been so accommodating. The food is outstanding - they make the best sandwiches. It is both a blessing and a curse to work down the block from Tony's deli. A blessing because the sandwiches are delicious and so easy to pick one up when I don't feel like making lunch, a curse because my wallet isn't a huge fan of me buying lunch everyday. Great Italian Family Run Deli. Always a pleasure to eat at Tony's. A true family run Italian Deli, with Momma in the kitchen cooking! There hot food is excellent and the price is right. There meat balls are the best. You can eat in, they have a very nice seating area, with a clean bathroom. They also have a full deli, they serve Boars Head, so it is the same old, but there sandwich is bigger then most, and they fill it up with meat. The only down side is that they do not except credit cards, and although there hot food is the best around, they need to add more variety. After eating there for years, you get tired of the same exact menu. For not excepting credit cards, and the limited hot food menu, I took away one star. If you are in the area, it is a must visit, or even to go out of your way. They do a very nice job on catering as well. Tony's Deli were they will always remember your name! read more

If you have not tried the mothers meatballs, I suggest you do. I will bet that you have never had better. Also, try the macaroni in pink sauce. Everything is amazing, and freshly prepared. The food is served fresh out of the kitchen. The staff is amazing, and will make you any sandwich or meal that you want. I had written a poor review a few months ago which was answered by one of the owners Tommy. What I had complained about was fixed. I have since removed that review, and actually feel badly about posting it. Nice to know the owners actually take critisism seriously and try harder to make their customers happy, which I 'm sure is no easy task. Much better than Varsi Deli and much less expensive.
