This deli has been in Whitestone for 30 years. I work in the area and have never been to this delicious place before!! Well... This deli was an amazing overall experience. You walk in and you are welcomed like you have been a customer for years! The food was fresh and delicious and the customer service was above and beyond!! All of the owners came over and introduced themselves! Definitely highly recommend! And they make their own fresh mozzarella!!! read more

Sent to Tony's by a friend of the family who owns/runs the business. Have returned each time I am in the Whitestone area. The Chicken Parm hero is greatX, Chicken Cordon Blue Paninni also tasty if you like crunchier. Mozzarella balls are made fresh deli and good to take home ( ~ $12 ). I didn't go for the hot food by the weight bar because it seemed it might be pricey compared to a hero. I visited yesterday and they happened to be out of bacon, I stood there not sure what to get and just said help me out I like chicken cutlet. The staff member helping me immediately suggested a combo, got a feel for what flavors I like for condiments/dressing. Too tired to make decisions I said ok let's try it. WOW, delicious is an understatement. It went perfectly with their staple iced cappuccino. That's what I call service, and you can see the staff member didn't just want to suggest any random replacement but rather something I would really enjoy and be happy with. I recently got food catered from Tony's for a few holiday lunches. Their mother makes the most delicious foods. I ordered a bit of everything and all the food was extremely delicious. I ordered their penne ala vodka which is their main attraction for obvious reasons. You can also order a container of their vodka sauce if you can't have enough of it. The eggplant rollatini, stuffed mushrooms, chicken Parmesan, the mozzarella caprese, the cannolis, everything they made was delicious. I also ordered an assortment of Hero's which everyone loved. I grew up within walking distance to here. Damn, I basically spent a lot of my childhood here. This is the best deli in NYC. When I go home to visit, I try to get to Tony's for a special sandwich and penne a la vodka. Sooooo amazing!! With the specials (that's the name of the sandwich), you can choose hot or sweet peppers. Yesterday I picked up a chicken cutlet hero with fresh Mozzarella, lettuce, tomatoes and balsamic vinegar on the side. I had the other half today and what I'll say is forget Cherry Valley and Christine's Tony's sandwiches are better especially the chicken cutlets. I'll have to try the panini's and some of their hot dishes they serve. Tommy and the rest of the staff provide great service and get your order the way you like it. This deli is the best around. The Polito family does a great job with their business, they're great hospitality people and satisfy you with everything to your liking. Visited for the first time. Clean, well Stocked deli. Noticed a wide variety of Italian specialty products and a ravioli section with unique varieties. Ordered the Tonys Special, an Italian combo. My mom & myself enjoyed yet another great time at Tonys Beechhurst a few hours ago before they closed for the night. We've been coming to Tonys Beechhurst since September of last year, but only do it on an average of once every two months since we live near Prospect Park in Brooklyn. Angelo, Tommy & Mario; the three sons of Italian immigrants + the rest of staff there are very welcoming, they're great to chat with & they've been making some kick-ass food since March of 1992. What Tonys Beechhurst is known for is their prepared meals & pressed paninis. What I get there most of the time is the (Pollo E Prosciutto): its Chicken Cutlet with Fresh Mozzarella, Prosciutto, sun dried tomatoes & either olive oil and/or balsamic glaze on a panini, and/or sometimes their tasty pasta Alla vodka; both 5-star! Some great little side perks about what makes Tonys great is the dry pasta thats imported from Italy + their frozen/iced cappuccino. I'll admit, Im not much of a coffee drinker, but I tried the frozen/iced cappuccino today & I was really impressed with it. Also the dad (Emilio) & mom (Josephine) of the family are very nice to chat with as well! Its absolutely worth the trip, I highly recommend it as it was recently rated #12 out of the top 100 places to eat in NYC for 2021! Staff made it a point to know customers by name which is a nice touch you rarely see nowadays. Ordered the Tony's Special Hero w/ hot peppers. When I was paying the man introduced himself and thanked me. Everyone there was super friendly. The first thing I noticed when getting my hero was how heavy it was. It must have weighed 3lbs. This is by far one of the best family owned delis in NYC's outer borough in Whitestoneof Queens. A great stop to and from the airport! No corporate here! Just a hard-working family consisting of a fabulous cook, the mom, Josephine. She prepares all the food daily fresh, as well as directing the back kitchen. The husband Emilio is equally hard-working at the front and at the back of the store his specialty is the daily ritual of delicious mozzarella he making! I just moved to Bayside and on Christmas eve morning I was about to go to my usual deli in Astoria when I decided to see if there was anything closer to me. I saw Tony's was only a few miles away so I decided to take a chance. Being Italian, I am really worried about where I buy mozzarella and dry sausage from. One of the things that sets Tony's apart from the multitude of other Italian delis in the area is its customer service. They make a genuine effort to know their repeat customers. The other thing is the tavola calda. The weekly shells & sauce, eggplant parm, and chicken potatoes are excellent. Their panini sandwiches are great and even the non Italian options, like BBQ Chicken, are made exceptionally well. The biggest problem is that their vodka sauce is not acidic and so delicious that I can eat a huge bowl of penne in one sitting and not get heartburn - guess that's a me problem. The shelf goods are also phenomenal and everything is very reasonable price-wise. Some things seem to be unique to them, and their housemade frozen ravioli is great to have on hand. read more

Their panini's, which are usually my go to for lunch, are one of the best I've ever had. Today I gave the Cubano a shot and it Def didn't disappoint. The bread had the perfect amount of crunch. I had really high expectations and enjoyed the hot chicken cutlet sandwich, but in general this place is over-hyped/rated with their perfect 5 star rating. I came thinking they're the best deli in queens but didn't like the Tonys special cold cut (too high of a meat ratio, and I was comparing it in my mind to the bay cities deli in Santa Monica- no offense but no comparison there). The iced cappuccino was good but not amazing or special. I made a special trip out here because they were on yelp's 100 best restaurants in NYC but I realized the high reviews are all because the owners are super friendly and chat with all their customers. I am from LA and rate based on taste rather than service, so at the end of the day, I would actually give them a 3.5 but bumped my review up to a 4 since they seem very friendly and nice and their prices are extremely affordable and fair. Something to be aware: because they are so friendly, it also results in a very slow service (I waited thirty minutes at the shop), which reminds me of the slower pace of life in Italy in general haha. I wouldn't make any special trips out here for their sandwiches but would recommend their cutlet if you're in the neighborhood. read more
