It's always so wonderful to "yelp" a food place nearby when you're hangry and are pleasantly surprised by the gem that you just uncovered. This local deli shop is not just any deli shop over saturating New York City. We stepped in huuuungry and they provided their suggestions. "Try anything pressed". So we got pressed caprise sandwich and a suggested sandwich special by the server on the counter. Extremely friendly and took his time with us. The sandwiches were spectacular, please add vinaigrette as they advise. While we waited we had samples of their frozen cappuccino. Overall such a great lunch for us. Even though they were busy, the customer service exceeded us and we were treated as if we were their very first customers.

Iced cappuccino & house American with sun dried tomatoes! Eggplant panini Delicious sandwich lots of ingredients. The eggplant panini was very cheesy, nice and warm too. Enjoyed both sandwiches. Friendly staff for my entire visit. Cute deli. Iced cappuccino was super refreshing especially on a hot summer day 10/10 recommend this deli

What an amazing family and deli. They make everyone feel like family in this deli. The food is amazing, sandwiches, hot food, the authentic Italian grocery section. Old school vibe with great service. You can tell this is authentic Italian deli that cares about its customers and community. The Di Carne Rossa Panini was tremendous!

    Tony's Special was delicious!!

I drove an hour to find this deli & it did not disappoint!! My husband & I were greeted by Tommy, he was incredibly kind & patient with us as first timers!! We got an egg sandwich which was delicious & a Tony's special- wow was it incredible- packed with meat & the semolina bread was perfect!! Tommy even took the time to put sweet peppers on one half & spicy on the other, really went out of his way to cater to us. I can't wait to go back & try the amazing looking pressed sandwiches! Definitely a new fan!

Tony's Beechhurst deserves all the accolade that it gets as it's truly a fantastic place. I've tried a variety of things here including their fantastic paninis, wraps, tiramisu, and frozen cappuccino. One truly cannot go wrong with anything here which is rare. The place is truly like family and I would go out of my way to get here. Also, shout out to Rich who's super hospitable and great! I'll definitely be back.

A couple of us drove out to Tony's off the recommendation of a local. I'm so glad we listened. Let's start with the staff. You get a show with them. They are all Greta, have great conversations with the customers, and are all characters. It was my first time visiting and they treated me like I grew up down the street from them and went through CYO basketball with them. I ordered a small sausage and peppers and a Tony's special as it is on the board. The sausage and peppers screamed of mamas kitchen. Peppers we're still firm and the sausage was perfectly sweet, juicy, and the portion was perfect. My special was awesome. Asked the counter man to make it how he liked it. Perfect. The vibe is so chill. They make you feel like a cousin. They knew about a fighter from my hometown and it sparked a cool conversation. The lead guy comped us some home made frozen cappuccino. Worth BUYING! Sat and ate there and looked at all the pics. When we left they wished us well and to come back soon. Oh yeah. We are coming back again.

( https://www.instagram.com/p/DQF8Gzekcks/ ). It is a shame because, besides myself, I know a few people that aren't in the neighborhood that travel regularly to G&L. Also its surprising because every time I go the place is pretty packed and occasionally there is a wait. What's also a shame, for me, is that on my recent visit my friend ordered the Steamed Seafood in Lemongrass and this is perhaps the top, or one of the top dishes on the menu. The seafood flavors and balances the slightly spicy lemongrass broth making this a crave worthy bowl. I ordered something out of my wheelhouse - the Coconut Spicy Lemongrass Soup, which on online order menu states its a popular dish. I couldn't see why this dish is so popular because I find other items on the menu superior. They make a tasty pho (especially when paired with a marrow bone). Their sandwiches are well made - I enjoy the different fish ones. I think their Vietnamese coffee could use some work - it is blander than other versions I had tried. Don't be too sad and maybe feel a little optimistic because owner Petra Rickman has a great track record opening interesting, in demand restaurants (This one and Taco Azul have been longtime go-tos in Whitestone). Additionally G&L has a 2nd location with the same menu in Manhattan, which unfortunately for a Queens boy like myself is a bridge too far and a congestion pricing too high for me to make the trek.

The menu has very detailed, almost elevated descriptions that make everything sound spectacular, but in practice the flavors don't quite come through, especially the sauces, which are barely noticeable. Our server was flexible when we asked to swap the potato chips for fries on the kids' grilled cheese meal, which we appreciated. However, we were then charged $1.40 for a side of ranch for the fries. I understand they have a range of specialty sauces and dips that are clearly priced on the menu, but that still felt steep for ranch. They also offer a combo option to add fries for $5, but the portion doesn't really feel aligned with the price. The steak sandwich itself was surprisingly tender, even though it looked like it might be tough. That said, I couldn't taste the roasted red pepper sauce, and the "sweet onion jam" turned out to just be caramelized onions. My mother actually ended up picking them out because she doesn't eat onions. (she won't eat onions that she can see) The buffalo cauliflower was tasty, but could have been crispier. The "serves two" description also felt a bit generous given the small portion. I also ordered a brisket sandwich to go with fries. The coleslaw sounded great on the menu, but in reality the flavors didn't stand out, no real hint of jalapeño, just a fairly standard slaw. Overall, the food descriptions felt more impressive than the actual execution, though the to-go fries portion was more generous, which was a nice surprise. Would I go back? I'm not sure. Maybe for a casual visit with a few beers and fries with an assortment of dipping sauces...I am a sucker for those.

Staff greeting and welcoming you with a warm smile when you walked in. Ordered at the counter, would take 10-15 min to make the sandwich. Ambiance wise = Love the hipster comic-styled wallpaper. Super genuine staff and great service as well. Can pay with cash or card, but there's a small service fee being charged for card. Besides getting the Angry Nonna Sandwich ($15.50), also ordered the regular fries that came with spicy mayo ($6.53) + a Krave It pineapple pop soda ($3.96) to wash everything down. Staff brought everything to the table even though it was only self serve. 1) Angry Nonna Sandwich: The mildly spicy sauce was delicious and savory. Chicken parm was seasoned well and not salty. Bread could've been a little more crunchy imo. Portion size was plentiful and definitely enough for a full meal. 2) Regular Hand Cut Fries: So many widely-cut fries and more fries than I'd imagined for a single order. Worth it! Size wise was like those halal rice platter in aluminum foil container. I got full midway but still finished the whole thing. Fries were definitely freshly prepared and made. Could've been just a little bit more crispier. Spicy mayo was the perfect sauce to dip the fries in. 3) Krave It Pineapple Soda: Refreshing to taste with the sandwich & fries. Don't need a bottle opener to pop off the sodas. Just need to twist it off yourself. Easily done! Their sodas are made of cane sugar. The fizziness felt good against the back of my throat. I plan to keep going back whenever I'm in the area by myself or with friends. Would recommend this spot to other Yelpers, family and friends. They're opened to late hours everyday. Lastly, don't forget to tip the hardworking staff working there!
