Needed to find a new pizza place and my boss suggested this place. He use to go to here when he attended CCSU. I called and ordered a large meatball pizza and some BBQ wings. I was told it would be about 20-25 mins. I drove there 20 minutes later and got into the parking lot. Which could be tight if it is busy. You walk down the stairs to find the pizza restaurant. The restaurant is cute and looks like it is run by a mom and pop. Inside there is seating to eat in. I told the nice girl in the front I was there for a pick up. Unfortunately, I had to wait in the restaurant for another 20-25 minutes. But they look they were busy and only two people was running the kitchen. I got my pizza home and I was pleasantly surprised it was cut in to small squares. The pizza was delicious and has a good sauce to cheese ratio. The wing was a bit saucy for my liking but it was good. I got a large pie and 10 wings which came to about 32 bucks, which was not bad these days. I think I found my new pizza joint, I would just wait a bit longer before going to pick up next time. read more

The best Chicken Parm grinder around. Great food and service. Locally owned for forty years.

Called in an order for take out and pizza was ready in 30 minutes and was hot and fresh when we arrived. I ordered a medium pie: half sausage, onions, and peppers and half grilled chicken. They were not shy with their toppings and it was absolutely delicious. There was a plentiful amount of cheese and the meat was sliced into large pieces so with every bite you were sure to get a taste of everything. The venue is casual and there are a good amount of indoor seating and they have a fairly large menu, serving gyros, sandwiches, grinders, and a variety of appetizers. I am hoping to go back to eat there and try out more of their menu. read more

So, I frequent this place and generally the food is pretty good. Lately, though, the quality has been slipping and the waitress who always seems to be working (so there's no escape most days) isn't nice, efficient, or attentive. Her slow service has killed my lunch break on more than one occasion. Today's salad has put me over the edge. I ordered it with no onions and it's supposed to come with croutons and cucumbers. What do I find when I bring it back to my office? A few onions, ONE cucumber, and no croutons. Also, a TON of nasty, white lettuce, including the stumpy bit at the end of a head. Luckily, this is not par for the course, but my last two takeout orders have been hastily assembled and missing croutons. Please step it up, Tony's! read more

This location offers delivery, one option is with grubhub. Inside, it is clean, neat, and tidy. The staff here are kind and welcoming. The decor is well chosen. Service is slow. I like the food but it doesn't matter if you eat in or call ahead, they seem to struggle with managing the orders. I have called in my order 3 times now and each time they say it will be ready in 20-25 minutes but when I arrive the just begin the order. Usually have to come and ask me what I order 2-3 times before it actually is ready. Nice people but wish they had a better system to manage the orders. read more

We came in 15 minutes before they closed, which I know can be inconvenient for closers, but they made us feel so welcomed and didn't mind us dining in. I like this place for the basics: grinders, pizza, wraps. While the food is absolutely fantastic and the buffalo chicken grinder is to die for, the service is sometimes not the best. Either they do not answer the phone at all (not even sent to voicemail, just left ringing for minutes), or they tell you your order will be 20 minutes and when you get there, you have to wait for another 15 minutes. I love this place and the food there but they somehow don't seem like they are able to manage all of the orders they get. read more

I came in around closing time. There was of course no customer in site, but a few of the staff cleaning up. It's pretty nice in here for a campus restaurant. I ordered the Philly cheese sandwich. It was pretty juicy and tasty. The staff were pretty nice. Good place to come to before or after class or studying at the library. read more

11/4/12 EDIT: I promised an edit after further exploration and here it is: I tried a medium mozarella pizza, and it's high up in the ranks next to Frank Pepe's and Plum Tomato, as far as I'm concerned. I usually shy away from highly endorse places because the fame/ great reputation sometimes cast a shadow in the reality of the restaurant. Nonetheless I tried Tony's one night and it was an amazing experience. The food was hot, and fresh. From the order-call to the delivery Tony's prove to have great customer service. It's one of those little hole-in-the-wall eateries; not really meant for dine-in (though there is ample seating to do so if you wish), but the food is soooo good. I ordered the chicken souvlaki gyro with fries. I've recently developed an addic-er, I mean craving for Greek food, so I decided to try this. I waited probably a little more than 20 minutes for my order, but I didn't complain-they were busy. The gyro was bigand plentiful, packed full of chicken, tomatoes, and red onion and plenty of tzatziki sauce (God, I can't get enough of that stuff....), and the fries were just how I like them: soft, hot, and had the perfect amount of salt. Seriously, it was so good, I just sowed the thing down (I must have looked like quite, uh, un-ladylike but I digress). I also got a Snapple to go with it. The total came to nine dollars and some change. Can't beat that price! Even if you don't go to CCSU, if you're in the area, try this place. I LOVE this place!!! I grew up eating here, and when I left for college, I CRAVED their grinders!! Their isn't anything I've tried there that isn't delicious! They're curly fries, spinach pie, calzones and ANY of their grinders! Their pizza is good too, but I personally go for the HUGE calzones or grinders. Great prices, great service and EXCELLENT food! Tony and Sevvy, Greatest couple I know...They greet everyone like family... (Sevvy knows almost all the customers that come hear for takeout..During the covid they worked so hard to keep up with up with all the takeout orders. Sevvy is like my daughter and she feels like my younger sister. I would highly...highly recommend Tony's for not only the menu but also for the friendship. I am not going to forget Tony (behind the seen with Sevvy...he is a great cook and sometimes we can hear Tony pounding the chicken or dough in the back and Sevvy running around the restaurant. If I could put more stars I would. I grew up eating Tony's, having my childhood home a walking distance away. Now that I've moved out of town, I still find myself driving out of my way just to eat there. I've become quite the chicken parmesan connoisseur throughout the years. Trying the dish during my travels in some of the finest restaurants. To this day I have yet to find an establishment that beats the quantity and quality of the chicken parm dinner made by Tony's Central Pizza. With a price that cannot be beat.
