The bulgogi was well-seasoned, and the soondubu had a rich, satisfying broth. This is primarily a takeout place, but the experience was smooth and pleasant thanks to the staff. Ordered this from Uber eats after a horrible day of clinicals. I was wanting some Korean food because I'm Korean for one and needed comfort food. The tteokboki was spicy as hell but also delicious. The tofu kimchi jiggae was good too but I could tell they added vinegar instead of using old kimchi. It still had a good flavor. The winner of the night was the kimchi fried rice. Had the spicy pork bulgogi for takeout and it was good. Lots of meat over a bed of rice. Wasn't as spicy as I expected and had some sweetness that wasn't overpowering which I appreciate. The onions was a good amount and didn't make up the star of the dish. Overall, really decent spicy pork bulgogi. My only markdown would be the lack of bachan either with this meal or for order on the side. I always love eating Korean dinner with some Bachan, even if it's just kimchee. For someone who grew up within driving distance to K-Town in Los Angeles, this place was good. I was impressed at how the flavors hit the right notes for me. The only reason I don't give it 5 stars was for take out, the chicken bulgogi was a little over cooked, but everything else was prepared well, and given we are here in the Midwest this is a great place if you missed your favorite Korean dishes. I have had their jajangmyun countless times and I think it is the best. My folks who come visit from out of town always order this. I do wish there was option to put shrimp in there in addition to the pork. One order literally feeds 3 people and I just add more pork and shrimp at home, since it's waaay too much for one person. I like their jjangpong but it's doesn't taste very authentic. I have ordered Kimchee stew many times, and I am perfectly content with it. My hubby has ordered their spicy pork and Bulgogi, which are also very good(both on the sweet side). Great food! Ordered the Spicy Pork Bulgogi, the CalaMari Rings, and the Spicy Udon Noodles. Delicious! My favorite was the Spicy Udon Noodles - OMG I could taste the Sesame Oil along with the sesame seeds with lots of onions. I could have eaten the entire order but I do watch my carb intake (unfortunately). The Spicy Pork Bulgogi could have been spicier. The calamari were served breaded and crispy. But by the time we got them hone, just not as hot. For $40 (which included a tip) the meal was very good. We will definitely be going back. Oh, we did fill our plates and heated them in the microwave! Everything turned out delicious! We just found this hidden gem when I was looking for restaurants on Yelp! It is hidden in the Korean grocery store to the left of Kim's bakery, when you get inside you have to order at the checkout counter, and the menu will be on the left. Once you order you have to go back into about the middle and go into an aisle and there will be signs, if you can't find it ask the lady at the checkout counter. Then when you get there you can sit down and wait for your food. Usually, he won't call out a name, but sometimes he'll ask if it's for _____ (whatever your name is) the utensils are in the room, so don't forget to grab them on your way out, and there is a water dispenser but I've never seen any water in it so I recommend getting a drink from the store. Absolutely fantastic food. I come often, but the food never disappoints. Keep in mind the portions are big, but still great leftover. And it'll be so good you won't want to stop eating. I recommend the pan fried Tteokbokki, or the noodles but it's all good. The kimchi fried rice and beef Bulgogi is great too. If I could, I would just recommend you the whole menu. This place is a hidden treasure for those who love Korean comfort food. It is nestled inside Oriental Market. I ordered for carry out, and I was about 10 minutes late picking it up, plus I had a 22 minute drive home, and when I got home, the food was still piping hot! I ordered the Jajang myeong (black bean noodles) and the pan fried tubboki. Both were absolutely delish. The black bean noodles has huge chunks of onion and other veggies. The tubboki isn't like anything I've ever had. It is sticky, crispy, and chewy all at once. The flavor is so garlicy, a little sweet and savory, and has just a little kick of heat. If they were open until 9, I would probably go 1-2 times a week. They close pretty early though (with the grocery I think) so I try to go around 5:30 when I do. read more

This place is a literal hidden gem. The entrance to Tony's K-food is between two freezer displays in Oriental Market. It almost feels like a speakeasy for food. There are only at most two people back there cooking, taking orders, etc. We got their bulgogi, spicy pork, kimchi fried rice, and pan fried duk bok ki (rice cake). Their bulgogi and spicy pork were standard--good but not really big standouts. However, their kimchi fried rice and pan fried duk bok ki were knock outs. I would advise that you eat some duk bok ki in your car right when you pick it up for optimal flavor and bite (no shame, it's worth it). Definitely will go back to try some other dishes. Also, because most times it's just one or two people working, be patient, call ahead, and shop around the oriental market (support local business!) if they're still behind on your order. read more

I ordered the food to-go at the register and waited in my car for 45-50 minutes to pick up inside. After an hour, they were still not ready. Lack of communication and disorganization was an issue. They only had 2 ppl in the kitchen. They would make food on special requests for other Korean customers ahead while other customers (who pre-order an hour ago) still waiting. I can tell other customers were just as frustrated as I was. There were at 4-5 people still waiting for their orders to be done but people who came later got their food before theirs. I found this place by accident when stopping into a Korean grocery to buy chili paste. This place is speakeasy levels of hidden. You have to go into the East East Oriental Grocery store, head down the last frozen food aisle and take a left between two coolers. Yes, seriously. But if you put in the effort, you will be rewarded with delicious, no frills, Korean dishes that will absolutely satisfy your palate. My favorite dishes here are the Crispy Pan Fried Duk Bok Ki (Appetizer), Jiamp Pong (Spicy Soup Entree), Spicy Stir Fried Udon Noodles (Noodle Entree). Of course the Korean staples, like Beef Bulgogi and Kimchi Fried rice are also delicious! The truth is, I've never had anything bad here. The food is stellar. The chef is very personable. And the atmosphere is bizarre - just the way I like it. The only reason this place loses a star is for the prices. While they are probably fair for the quality of food I get, sitting in a secret cafeteria break room restaurant in a Korean grocery store and paying $20 for an entree, an appetizer, and a drink hits me a little hard. I truly love this place. I just find that the prices stop it from being an every week lunch spot. Look, I love Korean food. Not to sound like Sam-I-am but I'd eat it in a car. I'd eat it in a house. I'd eat it in a tree. And so on. I was stoked to hear a little Korean food counter had opened in the East East Oriental Grocery in Chesterfield. My friend and I checked out Tony's K-Food on a Friday for dinner. You order at the grocery counter and they prepare the food in the back room and then you pick it up and eat there. You have to pay separately for drinks because the restaurant business and the grocery business are apparently separate. OK. They serve the food in Styrofoam to-go containers regardless of whether you're eating there or not with disposable utensils. My dinner date got the Udon noodles and I ordered the eggrolls and Kimchi Fried Rice (bokkeumbap). He did not love the udon noodles and I didn't love the eggrolls. I did love the rice! It was very authentic right down to the sliced up hot dogs inside it and the runny egg on top of it. They have about a dozen staples on the menu. Next time I will try the Bulgogi. Also I'd probably just carry out next time. The room where you eat is small and there are no windows. You can watch K-pop videos while you eat though and practice your BTS moves! read more

Read about this place in a Tweet by George Mahe and realized it's like 10 minutes from my house. I carried out Friday night after work cuz we do love us some good Korean food. First, if you don't know it's there, you're not likely to find it there in the back of the Asian market. Order at the checkout on the way in, and go to the back to pick it up. They had some nice iced rice tea for you while you wait. I got the Jajangmyeon, which is a noodle dish made with a thick black bean sauce with beef and some other veggies; squash maybe, some onion, maybe others. The black bean sauce is so umami and loaded with the black bean paste. So good! They also packaged the noodles separately from the sauce to avoid the soggy, over-saturated noodle problems that sometimes occur with carry out. It also came with some of the yellow radish pickles on the side. They were just perfect together with the sauce. My son got the beef bulgogi, which was loaded with tasty marinated beef, cooked perfectly. We also got dumplings; maybe the best dumplings I've ever had. So crispy and lightly chewy on the outside with the gingery meat filling on the inside. I can't wait to go back. read more

I frequent the Korean grocery store and the bakery next door, so was interested to see this restaurant open. The beef bulgogi I got was great: filling, freshly cooked, and tasty. My friends and I tried some of the appetizers: shrimp tempura, fried potstickers, and pan fried tteokbokki. The shrimp tempura is not actually Japanese tempura style, just the fried shrimp you'd find in the frozen section at the grocery store. Still, wasn't bad. Fried dumplings/potstickers were good too. The tteokbokki was great and really hit the spot. You have to pay at the cashier on the grocery side, and that has to be paid separate from anything from the grocery store (we'd grabbed drinks). However, they do offer complimentary drinks at their dine-in area (water, hot water and tea bags, and some sort of cold tea that we didn't try). Overall, we really enjoyed the food and will definitely be back for more. Staff were very friendly and patient when explaining stuff. read more
