BY FAR the worst of all TooJay locations. 1. You can wait on the entry line for 20 minutes while several waitresses tell you "someone will be with you in a munute!"(but it won't be me) 2. After being seated you're gonna wait some more. 3. There's an excellent chance that something is going to be wrong with your food order. Eggs over hard will come out medium or poached. 4. Expect a LONG wait for your check. Part of the problem here is tat the wait staff are all kind of older and they have a bit of attitude. Absolutely delicious! This place has a bit of it all and very much NY style deli. They have a wide array of sandwiches, hot & cold. Along with several homemade meals and homemade soups daily. Their pastries and cakes are delicious! We have triplets and took the girls in one evening for supper and the service was exceptional. They created us with open arms, had plenty of high chairs and the service was above and beyond. The dishes we had were their deli dogs, Ruben, turkey sandwich, chicken pasta, meatloaf and hamburger. All the food was delicious and their fries are thick steak fries. So good!!! We get their coconut cake quite often and it is addicting. Such a great place to visit and eat. Really disappointing. Have not been to a TooJays for years, and was never at this location. It is tired and boring. The food was not very good. I have an assorted smoked fish platter with nova and whitefish. The portion size was very small and the whitefish was very salty and had hardly any fish. Won't be coming back anytime soon. read more

We were honestly laughing the whole lunch, she was very attentive and you could tell she was a rockstar server. This location is separated into two distinct areas. The deli/takeout counter at the front offers a variety of cold cuts and meals to takeout; there's steady foot traffic.The restaurant half is diner-style, mainly over sized booth seating along the windows. After coming here a few times, I can recommend the following: Caesar salad. is. awesome. Don't think about it, order it. Salmon cakes: Eww, gross. They are dry and intolerable. There's a TooJay's closer to home in Boynton, but we drive to this one because the service is so much better. The restaurant is always clean and the staff are friendly and helpful. I'm a big TooJays fan, love their sandwiches. Parking in Lake Worth isn't as easy, but you can usually find free parking close by. read more

We have tried on two separate occasions to dine at this establishment and both times we walked out hungry and sorely disappointed. Due to COVID, my husband and I are only opting to eat outside, and were delighted to see that there are four socially distanced tables outside for patrons to use here. However, we were disappointed to learn that only 2 of those tables were allowed to be used at a time...and the two tables were right next to each other. How does that make sense? We also had to wait inside both times crowded together with to-go patrons only to not even see a hostess for at least 15 mins; they were too busy chatting with the chefs in the kitchen. Liked it a LOT! Came back twice for breakfast on our Florida trip. Authentic New York style deli complete with sassy waitresses----ours was very nice (had her both times) and very accommodating to our vegan needs. It was very easy to put together an order consisting of a toasted everything bagel, with sides of avocado, tomato and onion and after some salt and pepper and Tabasco we were chowing down like 2 hungry beavers on a cottonwood tree. I happen to know that beavers also enjoy salt, pepper and Tabasco when they're dining on a cottonwood tree but stay away from delis as a general rule. Love the little scene on Lake/Lucerne with all the: you-know-you're-in-Florida shops and restaurants and coffee places and 90 year old men in speedos, knee socks and spray tans walking around with young girls on their arms. (The young girls are only 79.) For you pastrami-gobbling, corned beef munching and hot dog ingesting delicatessen denizens out there, I don't know what to tell you-----but people did seem to be enjoying their repasts and were masticating with glee and enthusiasm during our times here; especially when they put their teeth in. read more

The food was FANTASTIC, so much cheaper than other places, and every step of the way Bill made sure we had exactly what we needed. Amazing customer service!!! I went to walk inside the building and an employee was waiting to open the door for us. They greeted us with a smile before asking about our takeout order. It was ready so quickly! I got a salad and asked for a few alterations. I thought it would be a problem, but they were so happy to accommodate. I left the New York metropolitan area over a decade ago and have been searing for NY style delis ever since. In every town I've lived, there have been at least three food businesses with the words "New York Style" in their titles; none have been telling the truth. Then I discovered Toojay's. Of course South Florida is where I'd find something that reminds me of home, since almost everyone I've met in my three years here is from New York or New Jersey. Still, most of the NY pizza or bagel joints down here suck pretty bad. I wasn't expected Toojay's to be much better. Now, dozens of visits later, my expectations have changed greatly. Everything from the setup to the selection to the taste of Toojay's reminds me of being in a deli/restaurant back home. The people behind the counter and the servers are pleasant without appearing fake, the folks occupying the other tables all look like they just got off the last plane from JFK, and the Dr. Brown's Cream Soda makes me feel like I'm seven years old again. Probably the number one NY-like thing that Toojay's does is make their sandwiches with more than one or two small slices of meat. Everywhere else I've been takes two shitty pieces of bread, adds two slices of meet, a half a slice of cheese, and calls it a sandwich; not Toojay's though--I can barely get my mouth around their Pastrami. I've been there dozens of times, will go back dozens more, and anytime a friend is in town, that's where we go! read more

It's been a few years but here's a belated love letter to a place that gave me and my family a lot of wonderful moments and great food. On the surface this is a deli/breakfast joint like many others. But when you taste the food you taste care. Bagels are toasted just right. Nova is delicious. Eggs are fresh. Coffee is solid. The rugelach fabulous. We have been eating at this location for nearly 10 years without incident . . . however lately it's gone way downhill. This location used to be the only decent one but now it seems it's as bad as the rest. The last few times we have ordered have been not good. A salad with old wilted and rusty lettuce, grainy tomatoes which look to have been refrigerated after being sliced (anyone in restaurants knows you cannot do that and expect them to be fresh). Today was the last straw. A turkey burger that was neither burger nor possibly turkey - it looked like a perforated oval flat gray processed puck. The texture was dense. The color was off putting. I was only able to eat a bite before giving to the dogs. The fries were soggy and even an attempt to revive them in the oven was unsuccessful. On a good note - the horseradish sauce and the remoulade sauce on the side were both tasty and seemed fresh and the lettuce was fresh and clearly washed as it was wet. This has nothing to do with the food we ordered but worth a mention - the top of one go-go box had something sticky and purple (berries possibly?) smeared on the top of it. I really wanted to love this place because the menu is extensive. But the service is slow. I had to tell the hostess that the waiter/waitress had not taken our order after waiting 15 minutes. Note: I sat outside, I don't know if the service was the same inside the main dining room. Next, the food was bland & lacked flavor. I ordered the egg sandwich with spinach, avocado and Swiss cheese on a bagel. The spinach looked frozen just added instead of scrambled with the egg. Nothing had any flavor. This TooJay's happens to be walking distance from my house so I'd say my husband and I eat here at least a few times a month. Sometimes more if we get carry out. What keeps us coming back aside from the location is how consistent they are. We both are creatures of habit and tend to stick with the same dishes over and over again. I love that the portions and flavors are always the same no matter what day or time you come. My go to dish for dinner is always the roasted veggie pasta. The veggies are never soggy and the lemon garlic sauce is ahhhhhmazing! The portion is pretty big so usually I can get 2 meals out of it. If I'm there for lunch I always get the pick 2 with french onion soup and the turkey avocado sandwich on wheat. The french onion soup is extra in the combo but who cares! It's so yummy and now I have my Mom hooked on the same lunch cause it's just magical together. The only thing that upsets me is sometimes they bring the soup first and the whole point of the combo in my opinion is to dunk your half a sandwich in the soup. Now I always ask them to bring it together to be on the safe side. I LOVE that they not only have fountain soda but they have Diet Dr. Pepper! It's such a hard soda to find at restaurants but they have it here!! The desserts are killer and HUGE. A lot of times we get one dessert for 3 or 4 of us since they are that big! Service was never this locations high point but within the last year it has gotten really really good. And I have worked in 6-8 delis over the years so I feel that I am adequately equipped to review a NY deli in FL I have eaten at 2Jays 3-4 times and this review and experience was similar to the other visits. This place is ok. It has some strengths and a lot of weaknesses which prevented me from giving it more than three stars... the fare... Corned beef on rye - decent CB, below average bread. Potato Salad - Crap. Better potato salad where I live in Louisiana and its not even from a deli. Chicken matzo ball soup. Crap. Who the hell puts thyme in chicken soup? I have been in the catering and service industry for 38 years. On Saturday, April 21st 2018, I was a bartender for a wedding held at the Lake Worth Casino. This is the first time I had ever seen TooJay's supply the buffeted food. I also had to interact with the staff as we shared a kitchen. From the beginning, your staff brought their "A Game" and could not have been more engaging and professional. Hats off to Bill, Steve and your hardworking staff...not to mention your delicious food that the 120 guests feasted on. When your incomparable staff completed their tasks, the kitchen was left spotless and they had packed up all the leftover food for the wedding party. We were in Florida for vacation and this is the first restaurant outing we had. After a few hours at the beach we decided to get some lunch. I have some special dietary needs so finding a place to eat is not always easy. We looked at the menu for at least four other restaurants in the area before deciding on this place. There was an entire vegetarian section so I knew I was safe. I debated on a few items before deciding on the Black Bean burger. I had the waitress take out the sour cream and added some grilled onions instead. The burger was pretty good. It reminded me of the garden burger patties, which it quite possibly could have been. It was good though. Filling and satisfying. There were some fries on the side that were ok. Not very crispy. Everyone else was pretty happy with their meals as well. My sister got a regular burger, my mom got a classic Rueben, and my husband got the vegetarian Rueben which he really liked. I was jealous I couldn't eat it because of the cheese and dressing because it looked pretty amazing. Because of the generous vegetarian section, this place could make any party happy. Always get the same the soup and half sandwich. A half is so big it is like eating a whole sandwich. I always get the matzoh ball soup although it is a poor excuse for matzoh ball soup. Nothing like if you were to go to a real New York deli. Service was decent the waitress are just old and cranky and you can tell they have no desire to be waiting tables at 70 years old. I avoided coming to TooJay's for a while, because honestly I didn't think it would be that good. Boy was I wrong! I think it definitely depends on what you get, but the deli sandwiches are great! And I am a New Yorker, so I certainly have had lots of deli over the years to compare it to. We came on a weeknight and they brought us over to a booth in the back right in front of the football game (doing well so far). The waitress was super friendly and really great to chat with. My husband got a cup of matzoh ball soup which he said wasn't great but then we were both quite surprised by the pastrami on rye. Really good pastrami. I had mine with a cream soda, which always seems appropriate when eating a deli sandwich. We got half a pound of tuna and a loaf of their bread to go to make sandwiches with the next day. The bagels are surprisingly poor (especially for a "gourmet" deli), omelets were rather bland and overcooked, and the service confused...they were pushing gift cards and it appeared to have our waitress thrown off when the tab came.
