This used to be my favorite toojays. It seems like they are all going down after new management! I came to this location and waited 15 minutes to even be acknowledged! And it is not even busy! I asked the busser if he could please get our server and he told us "he'll be right out". Instead of getting him for us. Our waiter walked by us at least four times without any acknowledgement. Went here for breakfast over the weekend with a friend. We shared our two dishes, the Breakfast Combo Platter and the Bananas Foster French Toast. For only about $9, both dishes had very generous portions and both of us left very full. The bagel that came with the platter was pretty hard, and the french toast was overly sweet, but we happy with the meal. The location wasn't that busy (we came on a Sunday at noon), and the service was average. I would be back to try other menu options. read more

Went few nights ago, for a hot pastrami sandwich. I, got very dissatisfied with the food and the slow service. From the rude host, to the server. My sandwich was a miniature pastrami and was almost cold. The restaurant only got 6 tables with customers and still it took the waitress almost 30 minutes to bring the order and then to bring the check . The service here was so good. The hostess found the perfect table for 4. We needed a high chair for our toddler and a place for our sleeping infant in a stroller and they got us an out of the way table perfect for us. Some restaurants don't care about that kind of stuff. Found chicken bone in my chop liver. Also every time I go a Jewish deli I look forward to diet Dr. Browns black cherry soda. I asked twice and they said they were out. This was my worst experience here. The service was garbage. We were brought out a disgusting glass with lipstick stains around the rim. Our waiter took our order and we didn't see her since. As we are leaving .. i see the family that sat down at the same time .. have drinks and are going to be eating. Very upset about this. Really delicious sandwiches! Love the roast beef and the pastrami. Yum! And the breads and bagels are really very good. Cookies and pastries are great. I have also used their catering service. They did a fantastic job with quality, presentation and punctuality. The delivery arrived right on time and looked awesome! The only time I have been less than happy with my food was when I ordered a hot entree. The food and the service were very good. The reason I am only giving one star is that we happened to sit at one of the many tables along the windows, and were grossed out by the stunning amount of dust along the wide ledge. The dust would have clearly visible against the dark paint, even to someone not actually sitting at the table. I ran my finger through it just to make sure my eyes weren't decieving me - a mistake. But, again, the food and service were good - just like always. The one star is strictly for the thick coating of dust on the long, wide ledge. We ordered take out as a first timer at Toojay's on Thursday 07/06. It was two pastrami sandwiches, an indulgence and hopefully a taste of NY quality deli. It was definitely not. My wife requested the pastrami shaved which it was not. The meat on both sandwiches was roughly 50% fat. We discarded after a few bites and a close inspection of both sandwiches - not edible. There used to be a time where you could count on a place like TOOJAY'S to provide a sandwich or a meal worth eating. Those days are probably long gone...at least for TOOJAY'S which seems to be hanging on by a thread. For some time there has been a slow decline which was - almost unnoticeable with the food, but cost cutting to save the business at the expense of the food is another thing. Today, I ordered 2 corned beef on rye sandwiches for take-out. As Joe Pesci said in "Lethal Weapon 2 - They Fuck You at the drive-through" Well, in this case that's what happens with pick-up at TOOJAY'S . We received 2 soggy corned beef on rye sandwiches with horrible tasteless fatty corned beef on soggy rye bread. The sandwich was embarrassingly small. Not what we have been used to in the past, but it looks like this is what he will have to get used to in the future. I doubt this place will be around much longer, so save your money, in this case $25 for 2 sandwiches and your stomach and go somewhere else. read more

Slowwwwww service every time I go!! When TooJays was located in the mall their service was great. Since they've been on 441, their service is horrible. First, it's not unusual to wait a long time for the server to get to your table, then, they rarely check on you and then it's forever to get your bill. The last time I went, it was the last straw. I went at 4:15 in the afternoon... waited.. waited... the hostess said "Maybe you come at the wrong time of the day!" Then, "We only have one server working at this time of day!!!" I left and will not go back. The Atlanta Bread Company, in the same approx area, was so busy in the beginning, but the service was beyond slow. Eventually, no one went and it closed. It would be a shame for TooJays to close, but I'm not going to a place that has bad service every time I go. **Follow up to the TooJay response: I have been going to TooJays for years- my post was because this was not a one-time or two-time problem in getting prompt service. It's chronic. I have to wait long periods for a server, they forget parts of the order, and when the hostess said they only had one server working and, after 10 minutes, no one had come to my table, that was the last straw. There is no "standard" of attention to guests. I've gone way too often and know poor service happens all the time. I only went because I liked the food, but I'm done. Waiting for someone to show up, waiting to get the entire order, then, waiting, waiting, waiting to get the check! This is a chronic, everyday problem. read more

First I must say that all of their ingredients are fresh and tasty. HOWEVER, we hadn't been there in a while and had a craving for a hot pastrami sandwich. I ordered one take-out with deli mustard on the side. The amount of pastrami was barely adequate and no mustard was provided. The included coleslaw was minuscule, ONE FORK FULL AND in its own container. Also ordered a Trio salad to include chic salad, tuna salad and egg salad. This cost $12.59 and the amount of each "salad" was also pathetic. Yes, the nice and friendly take-out lady opened each container in front of me but the bread was covering the salads and I didn't catch it at the restaurant. Literally, each salad item amount completely fit on ONE REGULAR DINNER FORK. See pics! They profited an extra .50 on the meal and lost a customer. Seriously, this is a management/corporate failure. They have a customer paying top dollar and corporate decides to skimp-out on portion size to eek out a tiny bit more profit. Oh, how I love TooJay's. I must go at least a couple times when I'm in South FL. Why? Well, first & foremost there are none in Philadelphia (or even outside Florida, I think), so I have to "stock up", so to speak, until my next visit. But what makes this deli/restaurant chain shine is the consistently fresh food--especially their deli meats and baked goods. I've been to this one and a couple other locations, and while the quality is excellent at each, it doesn't have a chain feel to it. Pleasant hosts and waitstaff too. ***A note to impatient people like myself: it can and does get ultra busy during Saturday and Sunday brunches, especially in season (Nov-April)--there are even signs along the wall next to the line informing patrons "At this point, your wait should be so-and-so minutes"--so don't go during these times, if possible. I have been a customer of TooJay's for years. Never had a bad meal or service. A couple of weeks ago I met with Angie to set up a catering order for approximately 20 people at my home. The day before the party, Angie called to let me know that she thought I had ordered way to much coffee. She was right, and we reduced the number to meet my actual need. Since I was not going to be home to let them, I left a key. Needless to say, when I arrived home everything was taken care of to perfection. The setup personnel did an excellent job, and of course the food was delicious. I would recommend Toojays to anyone who wants to cater a gathering or party. They were terrific. read more

So what has happened to one of my fav places? Have been going to TOO JAYS since the late 1980's in Jupiter ,Fla. But since they are opening places everywhere, food is so bad as well as service. Maybe they need to slow expansion down and re focus. - We just went through horrible hurricane Irma and wanted some hot good food. Visited the Wellington location and it was so minimal. My fav has always been the chicken soup either noodle or matzo. The soup was a greasy mess with no taste and shredded chicken. Not EVER LIKE THIS BEFORE. Then we had the mini brisket sandwiches. God awful. Remember those awful frozen Steak Ums ? This was like that. This was in no way homemade brisket like they used to make. Tasted defrosted and tough. Then just today visited another location in the Palm Beach Outlets. Again bad service . Ordered soup...never came. Ordered the 3 salad trio of tuna, chicken, and dill chicken. I have ordered this for years. This was a dry small diced up mess. Chicken used to be in large chunks, with seasoning. This was a small diced up no taste mess. I've been to this toojays probably 4 times. It has been "decent" 3 out of the 4 times. I am giving 2 stars only b/c of an incident that happened on 1/30/09. My Mom and I went in for breakfast, mine was GREAT, her's on the other hand not so much. As I was eating my food, I noticed on her plate something a bit strange, a twisted "thin" piece of metal, at first it looked like a piece of burnt egg. I picked it up with my fork and could not believe what I saw. My Mom could have accidently consumed it. We called our server over (she was very nice and prompt) and she said she will show the manager (he did take it off the bill). The reasoning for 2 stars is b/c of this instance. I've been to TooJays in the past and enjoyed a taste of New York in South Florida. When my wife suggested going, I was all in. Bottom line, I was terribly disappointed. Let's start with waiting on line and checking in on Foursquare. There was an offer of a "free black and white cookie when ordering" well, I showed this to my waiter, who informed me it was only for a mini. OK, annoyed, I ordered my standard Corned Beef sandwich and cup of matzo ball soup. The soup was good, the corned beef was mediocre, at best. And small. It was an old Catskills joke come to life. A tasteless dill pickle and horrid, mayonaissey cole slaw accompanied it. The corned beef was a bit fatty, not too much, but it just wasn't good. Then for dessert, the waiter, sensing my annoyance, brought me 3 mini black and whites, instead of just one, good move..except that they were terrible! I'm not sure why TooJays has gone so far downhill, but I doubt I'll be back. Too many choices around to deal with such mediocrity. read more

Takeout Is ARipoff Its sad when a wonderful restaurant stoops to this kind of trickery. I just received my takeout order from Delivery Dudes from the TooJay's on the Ring Road of the mall at Wellington Green. This restaurant has always been excellent every time I've been there so I had no problem thinking the same thing when ordering takeout. Delivery Dudes was fast and their part was excellent then I opened the containers. Not only were the sandwiches almost half the size of the ones that you get when you order in but the desert, they should be ashamed of themselves, definitely half the size possibly even less. What really pissed me off was you pay the exact same price as if you're eating there AND the price for Delivery Dudes. Not to mention, you dont mess with a girl and her chocolate cake!!!!!! Not only should you receive the exact same product but you think they would go out of their way to treat people who are taking out, especially the ones that are going there to pick it up, with the exact same service their in-store customers are receiving since they're actually going out of their way to purchase their product. Hot outside but freezing in the mall. So excited when I saw "tomato dill soup" as the daily special. Certainly needed some soup to warm me up. But, sadly, the soup had a chicken stock! Why the heck does a vegetable soup have a vegetable stock? Even our waitress said it's ridiculous. I get that chicken soup and other poultry and beef based soups have a meat stock, but why tomato soup? Too Jays offers a vegetarian and lighter option section on the menu which suggests management is aware that guests are eating healthier and want food that is not so high in fat and calories. So, this begs the question once again...why chicken stock in tomato soup? C'mon Too Jays, use vegetable stock in your vegetable soup and I'll come back. read more
