Wife and I visited here again. We were greeted and given a table by the door. Our waitress was super friendly, prompt and courteous. We had a spicy tuna roll, beef roll as appetizer and both had fried rice. The beef roll was great. The spicy tuna was good just not as fresh as prior visits. The chicken & beef fried rice was good and the portion size was enough for two people. All in all our visit this time was no different than times before. We used to come here quite often but lately we have been cutting back. We come for their reverse happy hour and the last 2 times they charge us an extra item each but we figure it's happy hour so we didn't bother mentioning it. Price is reasonable so no big deal. This last time though we went we ordered spicy tuna hand roll and California hand roll for $4 each and instead we got regular rolls. They told us that's what hand roll looks like but we had them before and know it's not a hand roll. When the check came we asked about the price difference and they say that's the price. We came in at 9 for reverse happy hour and they are cleaning up. I figured they are cleaning up and getting ready to go so I just paid and didn't bother with the wrong item and paid for the rolls instead of hand roll we wanted. Haven't had a good yellowtail jalapeño in awhile so this was overly satisfying. Cocktail-- Peachy Lychee: 10/10; love a good lychee tini! I was hesitant at first to give here a try being new to Katy. I have my favorites in Houston, but I decided to give it a try and it was great our server Adrian was amazing. We tried the crab puffs. They were good. They were actually seasoned. We also had the baked muscles. They had a little bit of a kick, but we're really good. The calamari was OK. We also had the truck roll. We came here to celebrate a friend's birthday with a party of 6 at noon on Saturday. The place was completely empty so we were greeted and seated immediately. Not feeling like sushi, I opted for the chicken katsu ($15). The portion was large, with two chicken cutlet pieces, a mound of white rice and a good serving of veggies. The katsu sauce came on the side, and was definitely needed, as the edges of the chicken were a bit on the dry side. The center pieces of the chicken were juicy and tender though. The veggies were stir fried and plentiful. Others in my party got the sushi and it looked good. Throughout out 1.5 hours there, only one other customer came in for takeout. Surprising since Top Sushi has multiple locations and I've generally seen more people at them, but this Top Sushi is a bit tucked away off the highway, unfortunately. Our waitress was extremely nice and even brought us out plates, forks and candles when we informed her we were celebrating a birthday and brought cake. read more

March - 2025 We have had good food from this location before. Today it was terrible. Jalapeño poppers were drenched in sauce, I had to wipe each one with a napkin. Calamari was cut thin coated with batter fried so crisp you could not taste the Calamari, only salty batter. Vegetable fried rice had no color. No broccoli at all, only a few cubes of carrots. Sad when you order a to go dinner for 40 dollars that was tasteless. I will now drive to Ninja on 359 for a satisfying meal. We supported Top Sushi as a neighbor. I went to Top Sushi today during happy hour and I was a little disappointed. The sake is $5 I'm happy hour and I ordered one regular sake that was $5 and then I ordered the flavored sake and when I got the bill it was $11. They normally charge me a $1 upcharge. When I asked the bartender about it she said it charges whatever the regular price is. However, $6 for flavor is ridiculous. I guess I won't be going back. read more

First time at Top Sushi! Husband enjoyed the AYCE with several rolls- Yummy, Push and Tuna Frenzy and I did a spicy salmon, spicy scallop & spicy tuna hand rolls. I also did two pieces of the Signature Nigiri- Kizame Sake & Truffle tuna. We came in right at 9p so were able to take advantage of the reverse happy hour and the Peachy Lychee martini was excellent. Rock&Roll sushi roll - delicious and not overpowering Spider sushi roll - wonderful combo with soft shell crab Teriyaki rib-eye entree - delicious and perfect combo of steak, veggies and white rice. Veggies was not drowned with sauces. Just enough for taste yet keep the simple vegetables crisp and cooked while maintaining its nutritions (don't overcook your veggies folks). Steak was perfectly cooked to medium as requested. Baked mussel - delicious! I'm glad it's on the happy hour list or else I would have never tried it. Iits interesting with cheese and mussels. Something I would never think about getting. Reminds me of Hotate hokkaiyaki but a more simple, cheaper and faster version. Sushi (chopped scallop, whole scallop, smelt roe, squid, salmon) - all delicious and fresh seafood. Volcano roll - served hot so the rice doesn't stay together as well as it should be. Lucky there's half slices on top of the roll but I would like a more tradition where it's a mix of crab meat and scallops on top that make it look like a volcano. I can't go over every single food. Just give it a try! They have happy hours... strange how their happy hours work here but whatever! It works with me. Happy hour all day on Sunday to bring in the customers. STARTERS: -The Kickin-Mame ($6) is edamame seasoned in spices and sautéed in a soy base garlic butter. Other popular sushi establishments have served disappointing spicy garlic edamame that was either lacking salt or not spicy or garlic-y enough. Top Sushi's edamame was a wonderful balance of spices, savory, and garlic! ENTREES: - From the Raw Roll menu, the Dolce ($16), spicy tuna topped with salmon, avacado, kizami wasabi, truffle salt, truffle oil, and yuzu tobiko (not included in the order). The quality of the fish was very nice and fresh but the promised truffle flavor was not distinguishable and the missing yuzu (citrus infused?) tobiko would have probably added another dimension making the roll worth the larger price tag. The kizami wasabi was a nice touch but as it was served, this roll is not worth the price. -The fresh salmon sushi was a nice light dish for the lesser hungry of the dining party. In conclusion, I would return to eat at Top Sushi but will probably order a different entree. read more

One of my absolute favorite foods done very, very well by this newcomer to the Katy/Richmond/Rosenberg area of town. Apparently it is one of many Top Sushi's that is opening around town as we were informed by the manager of the yet to open Tomball operation. Apparently the management philosophy is to deploy a new management team into an operation before setting them off on their own operation which results in an extremely service oriented dining experience complete with a wine,beer and sake bar. Enough of the operational comments and onto the sushi which was my reason for being there (the menu is rather broad so there is far more than sushi, sashimi and rolls) all of which our party partook in and all of which were ample, well priced and in some cases (seasoned scallops as an example) unique and flavorful...well let me state that differently since all of it was flavorful....unique flavors. If you read what I often write about sushi bars for me the barometer of their throughput and versatility is Uni, which is aside from fugu, is probably one of the most perishable entree's in any sushi bar....suffice from the picture I included this was a "before" the "after" would have been simply an empty plate with and without quail egg. This was a delightful experience from the servers, to the sushi chef's to the manager in training and we will return. read more

This was my first time at this location. The inside was fairly bland and non-descript. They have a great cocktail menu. I had the Orange Twist Cosmo. It was very good. For my appetizer, I ordered the Truffle Tuna Nigiri and the Micro-Tuna Nigiri. The Micro-Tuna was just ok, but the Truffle Tuna was amazing! It had truffle oil, truffle salt, garlic chip, and crispy onion. The tuna melted in my mouth like butter. For my entree, I had Seiho Scallops. The scallops were coated with garlic and pan seared with garlic butter, then topped with a jalapeño slice. It came with sautéed spinach and white rice. The dish was ok. I'm not sure if I would order it again. The real standout of the night was the Truffle Tuna and I will definitely be back for more of that! read more
