Easily, my favorite dish if the night. It was a good balance of sweet, tangy, and savory. The spicy basil fried rice with chicken was super spicy. Even at mild spice level, I couldn't eat more than a few bites. The red snapper with papaya salad was good. The fish was fried to perfection but didn't really have much seasoning. Thank you Top Thai for good food and great service! I booked weeks in advance for my husband's birthday party of 18 people. The minimum per person was super reasonable and the staff was very accommodating for such a large group. Giana was our server and she was on top of everything. Happy hour is till 7pm so we got cocktails for half off (~$9). The food was delicious including the curry puffs, pad see ew and massaman curry! They presented a birthday dessert (~$16) and sang happy birthday. They even gave us a free tote bag as a gift. If you want to host a large party, do so at Top Thai! Unfortunately, they most likely recently sprayed for them (look at the google reviews.) I did not grow up here and was unfamiliar with baby roaches until coming here. The staff was great and did their utmost to efficiently seat everyone on a Saturday night. The menu, oh my God, has everything! For appetizers, we had the grill steak (medium rare). It came with a sweet yet spicy sauce. The mango red curry was incredible as well. It was creamy and chunks of mango inside. We had the option of picking grilled chicken to make it a bit leaner. The interior was pretty small but the staff was friendly and tried their best to make as much space for people to sit as possible. I got the pad see ewe, and found that it was much too sweet for my taste. The first few bites were okay, but the sweetness got more overwhelming the more I had it, to the point where I had to drink water after every bite to cleanse my palette. My husband's basil noodles were good though, so it's not all negative here. The prices were also pretty darn pricey ($18 for tofu, $21/22 for meat) for the portion sizes, which were not that big. My husband was still hungry after the meal and it barely filled me up. I would have expected something a bit more affordable seeing how it's near NYU, but it just seems like the better move would have been to go here for the lunch special. She could've easily accommodated us with something else as other places would (and have if there were any issues w the food). By the way, she never returned to our table thereafter; another waitress took over. Given it's a halal spot I would've recommended this spot to others but given the service provided, it will be a no. Came to this super cute spot for lunch with friends! Food was flavorful with generous portions and service was quick. I ordered the basil udon lunch, and my bf ordered the glass noodles. They have this interesting protein option of mock duck (the server made extra effort to make sure we knew it was NOT real duck LOL, I guess some confused customers must have made that mistake and then gotten upset before), so I decided to try it. We also tried to order medium spicy / spicy for our food, but our server warned us that it was going to be really spicy so we chickened and got mild. It turned out to not be spicy at all (maybe she got confused and thought we wanted Thai spicy?), but tbh spice level isn't a big deal for me anyways so I didn't mind. The udon was super flavorful and although I'm not sure if the taste actually resembles duck that much, I actually really enjoyed the mock duck! My friend recommended we try this place last weekend. When we arrived, the entire interior was decked out with Christmas decorations. Almost every table was occupied. They had Christmas music blasting from the speakers. Upon first glance, Top Thai is definitely a lively place with a fun atmosphere. We were sat pretty quickly and given happy hour menus and food menus. To drink, we ordered some Mai Tais which come in either a large or small size. They were served in beer mugs and were strong and refreshing! About 10 minutes before the end of happy hour, one of the servers went on the mic to announce last call for happy hour drinks. I found that to be absolutely considerate and kind-hearted! Most other establishments just let it quietly pass. To eat, we ordered the chicken dumplings and Thai chicken wings. Both arrived hot and were flavorful. For entrees, we got the grilled chicken Pad Thai, Thai Fried Rice, and Spicy Basil fried rice. All the dishes were amazing. We all cleaned up our plates and left satisfied. When we walked out, there was a line of people waiting to get in. I can see the hype and the reason for all the good reviews here. I have to be honest - the food was good, but based on the reviews, I was hoping for more. We liked everything we ate, but comparing this to our other go-to Thai in NYC, it just didn't stack up. We got the papaya salad and roti massaman apps. Papaya was good, but not nearly as spicy as we would have hoped. The roti-massaman had decent flavor, but the massaman itself was far too thin, at least compared to ones I've had in the past. We also got green curry with chicken and basil udon as mains. What a great vibe in here. Top Thai has happy hour from 12-7 with $9 drinks all around. The decor is beautiful and cozy. We were a large party and they sat us under the hut which felt super cozy.
