For a place named Toppings they definitely could've expanded to provide more original topping options but I am easily satisfied with some fresh cut fruit. Went to toppings the other day. Had an amazing experience. The guy who was working there was super friendly and nice. They had all sorts of fun and interesting flavors including a rosewater saffron flavor. Two were non-dairy: blueberry and chocolate. I think there's a perfect mix of flavors for everyone here from the normal everyday ones to the exotic. What I really loved about my visit here this time was that the fruit they served was super fresh. If you are a fruit and yogurt person, you know how fresh fruit makes all the difference as a topping. I had mangos, kiwis, and strawberries. This place is clean. I like that they have a hand sanitizer by the yogurt machines. Some small notes: please put the sample cups out by the machines (maybe in a cup dispenser by the hand dispenser?) so people don't reuse their cups (it's unsanitary). Yes, there's a sign but there was a girl there and she was too lazy to go back to the counter and get some more and I know she's probably not the only one. Love that this place is kosher. Wish they had some chalov yisrael flavors so my friends who are more religious can have some more options other than non-dairy flavors. Also, they have a small parking lot in the back. DO NOT GO THERE! Absolutely unsanitary and they are lie!! 1. I went there 3 times, ALWAYS felt sick after. Never knew why. Last time I went with my friend, both of us, 30 minutes after, we felt both sick and all night long. 2. They do not want cc, only cash. We all know the reasons why. 3. Every single time I went, they denied for me to use the restroom. The last time, my friend wanted to wash her hands and they said no. Then said that the restroom doesn't work. Flat out A LIE. What a couple of sweethearts that work here, not a couple of robots who could easily pass for the singers of the loud techno that I would normally encounter. Eh, I won't hate...I still like the competition. What is great about this whole self serve yogurt idea here though is that you don't feel like you're all alone. I walked in and told the guy that I had never been there before but that I wanted both a smoothie and a yogurt cup. He says to me, "I'll make your smoothie and my wife will help you with the yogurt". How sweet was that? After wifey showed me around the yogurt station, I made myself a cup of plain tart yogurt and added Captain Crunch, mango, and kiwi...exactly what I get at the other yogurt place. The banana-strawberry smoothie with honey was for the bf. The bf also ordered this mess of peanut butter & cookies & cream yogurt with cheesecake crumbles, M & Ms, and other things. The bf & I agreed that the smoothie was outstandingly yummy and he loved his yogurt cup, but my yogurt wasn't as smooth in consistency as I'm used to, although it still tasted good. AND this stuff was cheaper than you-know-who. We ate outside in the cold at the tables cuz we had my pooch in tow, but both the owners came outside to check on us, ask us how we liked our treats, and said that they'd hoped to see us back again. I've been stalking this place for two months now. A number of copycat yogurt places have recently opened up in the area lately, and all I could answer with was *yaaawwwn* - no thanks. I guess Toppings realized "if you make it self serve, they will come." After getting my vote on today, I rewarded myself with a little walk up to check out just what it was all about. Yes, it looks like all the other gleaming white yogurt places with the fruit and cereal being potentially the only splash of natural color in the place. Yes, like Yogurtland, there's the wall of numerous-flavored single or swirl yogurt dispensers. Yes, you pay by weight, and yes there's smoothies, waffles, and coffee. So what's the big deal then? Well, for one, there wasn't a slew of under-18 mininum wage teenagers serving your yogurt and waiting until clock out time. What we were greeted with instead was an adorable couple working the counter, whose eyes brightened as we walked through the door, and who rushed to tell us just what Toppings was all about. You could tell this place was everything to them. My heart warmed a little. "Here's some serving cups so you can play around with the flavors!" they said as we eyed the various options. They went on to explain the non-fat vs the sugar-free, the tart vs the original flavors, which flavors were available yesterday and which flavors would be available tomorrow. We made our way down the line with our sample cups, testing all of them, including cookes and cream, peanut butter, plain tart, vanilla, and the to DIE for pineapple coconut tart, which caused both mine and my roommate's eyes to roll back into our head with pleasure. I had so many samples, I got a brain freeze. We filled up our cups with the aforementioned flavor topped with strawberries and cheesecake bites, and paid the shockingly cheap 39 cents per ounce for our dessert. We giggled to each other after the couple asked us numerous times if we wanted water, coffee, or if the music was too loud. I don't think customer service could get more helpful. Of course the fact that I can walk off my yogurt on the way home and then turn right around and go back is a good sign. I drove past Toppings on the way home the other day and have been wanting to try it ever since (especially after doing a quick yelp! search and seeing all of the positive reviews).. so today, I made a special trip there to get some fro-yo. These types of places all have the same set up and pricing scheme... you get a couple of tasting cups, then fill up your cup with frozen yogurt using the do-it-yourself dispensers, then add toppings, have it weighed, and pay per ounce. I love all of these places because you can put a bunch of different flavors into your cup and a little bit of a few different toppings. The possibilities are endless! So for me, any place like this (Yogurtland, Menchies, etc) starts with 4 stars, which is then adjusted up or down. Why I gave Toppings the 5th star: 1) Free parking lot in the back 2) Not stingy on the sample cups. They have them lined up on the counter and you can get as many as you like 3) Unique flavors - I LOVE the Marshmallow, I don't think I've ever seen that anywhere else 4) Unique toppings like Trix 5) They offer to give you a (cute) to-go lid and a bag 6) Indoor and outdoor seating, clean and cute 7) Friendly staff 8) Open until 11 pm I really don't see much difference in pricing between the different fro-yo places, so I don't take that into account unless it's so much cheaper or more expensive that I actually notice. I filled up about 75% of the LARGE cup including some toppings like cheesecake and bananas and it was bout $5. I think I usually spend between $3 and $5 at Yogurtland or Menchie's also. It's not exactly CHEAP but it's also not that expensive given that you'd pay about that much for a pint at the supermarket and it wouldn't be as healthy or good. read more

I am a huge fan of Toppings, but the Beverly Hills location falls short compared to the Pacific Palisades. For the name "Toppings" you would expect more than the normal amount of options, yet this is not true at this location. Only a fraction of the options are given, with even less yogurt flavors available. I was definitely disappointed because many of my normal favorites available at the original location are nowhere to be found here. I got a modest portion of both coffee and mint yogurt with Reese's and chocolate sauce. It cost $2.70. I would normally not expect to leave this location without spending at least $3.50 per person. I do give this location props for its interesting flavors, currently available is "Rose Water Safron" and "Cucumber". It is also unique with waffles available starting at $7.95. Parking is fairly easy with metered street parking, so that is another pro. Overall, I would visit this location if you are in the area, but if given the choice I would always choose to go to Toppinfs Pacific Palisades. read more

This place is pretty generic unfortunately. I would say your money is probably better spent at Yogurtland, just because there was just less of everything here with fewer options. There were fewer flavors than a typical Yogurtland, with fewer toppings and fruit options. The flavors themselves were just OK, nothing super creative. In addition, I feel like the price is about double Yogurtland's. I understand it's in Beverly Hills, so the rent is higher, but there's gotta be a better selling point to a place than just the location, right? read more

It's close to where I live, so if I don't feel like driving somewhere for yogurt, I can just walk here. It's self serve. However, if you want to try flavors, it's not self serve--they do it for you. I found this kind of strange. I saw a few interesting flavors but didn't get to try them because I felt like I was being watched and that they didn't want me to try flavors. I mustered up enough courage to ask to try the green tea. It tasted weird. I stuck with the original yogurt flavor. It was nice and not too sweet. It tasted healthy - i.e. no sugar overload. The fruit is extremely fresh. A bunch of stuff is also kosher. At 39 cents an ounce, I just had to calculate it out. We paid about $5.40 for 2. At yogurtland it's 30 cents an ounce, and would have been $4.15. That said, the yogurt flavor tastes good enough to walk to, but if I were already in a car, I'd make my way to yogurtland for taro flavor. read more

Last night I could hardly fall asleep. Which new yogurt shop would I try out, Toppings or Yogurtland? One of the most important factors to me after a hard day's work is service & I hoped it would deliver. I settled on Toppings before drifting off to slumberland. It was around 6 p.m. when I pulled up to a 20 minute parking spot along the curb, almost right in front on the storefront. I popped in 2 quarters, dashed inside & was told parking is free after 6 p.m. Oh well, maybe my parking karma will come back to me. There's a sign on the front window, or was it the door, that said parking is in the rear. I will drive around next time & take a look. I told the dark haired man it was my first time. He welcomed me with a smile & gave me generous samples. High mounds of peaked cool swirls, all the yogurt flavors I wanted. I tasted tart original, peanut butter, dark chocolate, Irish mint, alpine vanilla & finally orange sorbet. The tart original was a little icier than I was used to. The peanut butter was not for me, a little artificial tasting I thought. The Irish mint reminded me of being at the orthodontist having impressions made. Or maybe the bar soap named Irish Spring? The orange sorbet was a little intense both in color & flavor. Not quite Cal Trans, but bright enough to spook me away. They even had poundcake toppings, cookie dough toppings. Some unusual toppings. Most of all I like that I can serve myself. I absolutely loved the dark chocolate & alpine vanilla, which is what I finally decided upon to fill part way in a regular cup. I added the topping of chopped peanuts which were ultra crunchy & fresh. That's when I figured out I have a deconstructed drumstick in a cup on my hands, ha ha! I licked that spoon clean. I was in awe that it only costs $2.50, I discovered my new after work on a hot summer day stomping grounds. I wanted to sit at the kids table, after all I am height challenged. Why? Because their chairs are often not as high, they are more comfortable for me. However there was already a family at the table, so I plopped myself down at the bar, which offered a view of Robertson Blvd. Then, if I looked down at the counter, there were childrens' crayon artwork. A very happy place this is. Then I remembered someone mentioned a waffle. I ordered a Belgian waffle, which he said he would make up fresh. I inquired as to how fresh? He kindly checked & said it was a Krusteaz mix. He even offered me a glass of water. The waffle arrived hot, light & fluffy, in record time. I couldn't have been more pleased. GET A WAFFLE! The waffle, yogurt, toppings, cleanliness of the store & the service certainly deserved 5 stars. The temperature inside this store made me feel at ease too. The yogurt: Toppings carries something like a dozen flavors of frozen yogurt flavors. Apart from the tart flavor, the other flavors often change or rotate. One week it'll be oreo cookies, the next it will be peanut butter or blueberry. There are also a couple low-calorie or low-fat options usually. The toppings: True to its name, Toppings carries lots of...toppings. A large variety of fruits you can put on your yogurt, and lots of little candies, nuts and syrups you can splash on the yogurt and feel guilty about later. Prices: Prices are cheap! The scene: Toppings is kosher, with an accompanying certificate, so it's a very popular locale for the Jewish community. On any given day, you're likely to see lots of parents come through with children, but also the occasional hipster. Seating is provided, and the tables are clean and fairly comfortable. I think their Alpine Vanilla was the best flavor there. It was a hassle to sample. There's a dude that gets the sample for you and you barely get any, so you have to stick out your tongue and dig into the lil cup to get some in your mouth. I love froyo but Toppings is eh. For a place that's called Toppings, their toppings are pretty limiting and basic. Flavors are pretty good but some were more watery than others. I got the peanut butter and graham cracker flavors, both were great but graham cracker was definitely more liquidy. Wish there were more flavors. The toppings didn't seem fresh. The fruit looked like it's been sitting out a little too long. I popped in on a warm afternoon and it was dead but decided on this cool treat. Some of the flavors weren't as solid when dispensing it, maybe they didn't give it enough time to solidify into yogurt? Wish there was a sign telling me not to go for that flavor because it wasn't ready just yet. I would have been fine with that. They need some decor inside. It was very bland the walls. There was some chalk art up on the wall but that's about it. There's potential here but just need some attention to details and help with making the place a little more lively.
