    Sunday Specials with 2 Sides
    Michelle D.

If you're looking for an amazing eatery after church on Sundays...this is the place!!! We met some friends there & it was pretty crowded. We had to sit at a separate table but that's what we get for taking the loooong route to get there. The place ambiance is truly family friendly & our server, Juanita was very attentive & personable. Although it was crowded, it took longer than we expected to get our order done. But once our order was placed, we had our piping hot food within 15 minutes...maybe even less!!! Two thumbs up!!! Both my daughter & I ordered the fried catfish plate because we heard rumors that it was soooo good! Maaaan! It did NOT disappoint!!! It was truly one of the TOP TIER of catfish in the Dallas area!!! Crunchy on the outside, tender on the inside & seasoned to perfection. Writing this review is making me want some more now! The sides were ok as far as sides go...but who cares...because the CATFISH was AAAAAHMAAAAZING. & it was REAL catfish & a ginormous piece!!! I had to cut it in half to take a pic! Also, it reheats very well in the air fryer for those of us who had left overs. We will definitely be back & hopefully get there earlier. We met a lady in the parking lot who asked how the food was & we STRONGLY suggested the fried catfish! So go get some y'all!!! It's not the easiest place to find but worth the hunt!

Their homemade Rolls with butter are yummy!

We didn't have Reservations, but that's ok because we immediately sat down at any open table. Atmosphere was nice, lots of people come here to eat after church on Sundays. Waitress was sweet, attentive and quick; providing Excellent Service. I ordered an iced tea to drink and their Baked Chicken with carrots and sweet yams for my sides. We waited maybe 10 mins to receive our food, so we got it quickly! The BAKED CHICKEN was Slap-Yo-Mama GOOD! I got a Whole Chicken that was cut in half & magically Baked to perfection. The meat literally falls off the Bone! It was delicious! Both sides were scrumptious too. The carrots were seasoned and cooked to tenderness. The sweet yams were also spiced and seasoned just right, I Loved These! In conclusion, I will be going back to Tops Cafe when I'm in the area again. I give them a B+ overall. **The Baked Chicken and the Yams are definitely served on SUNDAY's** Check their website to see what their Special Menu Items are & the Days they are available to plan your trip accordingly.

Everything was good, including the food, service and atmosphere such an amazing time.

My first time at Tops Cafe'! Let's put it in the "What's the name of that place with the Good?" Met with family to have breakfast ordered the fried Catfish. Yes I said fish for breakfast with hash browns and grits. I didn't have to order extra crispy, didn't need hot sauce, mustard, pickles, onion or bread. All was needed was my hands and mouth. It was the best fried catfish I have had in a restaurant. They have daily specials and I hear the deserts are irresistible. Sorry no picture of the fish, I dug in before I knew it. Check it out, you won't be dissatisfied.

Popped in around 8:45 this morning, looking for breakfast. Most restaurants in the area served Mexican food and wanted something different. Love the old time feel of this diner. I am sure there have been a million eggs served at this place. Ordered the Tops Omelette with a side of oatmeal. Oatmeal was good, filling. Included raisins, brown sugar and milk on the side. Usually I run into very sticky clumpy oatmeal in these situations. But it was very good consistency. The omelette, WOW! Very good. Very filling. Lots of melted cheese. Great flavor, would definitely order it again.

My Mom and Uncle frequent this spot, so I decided to give it a try. The pancake was great. The catfish is highly seasoned. The eggs were a little weird in a way I can quite put my finger on. The hashbrowns were good and the coffee a lil over done. I would still go back because they have such a diverse menu. They are definitely worth a try.

    Dirty sticky floor

Place is dirty and smells weird. The bathrooms are disgusting and the floors everywhere are sticky, if it's not regularly cleaned in the dining area and the bathroom you know the kitchen is nasty. The food was okay, I had chicken and waffles., it looked good but the chicken had no seasonings or flavor, what I can't get over is how dirty the place was. I wouldn't recommend this place to eat, there are other cafes/diners in this area that serve the same kind of thing that your feet don't stick to the floor:

First visit was great. Second visit, they were very busy and short staffed. The food was still very good. Now for the negative and see this often. The restrooms were horrendous! No soap, hot water or paper towels. Also very dirty! Will likely return, but avoid the restrooms!

My breakfast from Tops was "easy like Sunday morning". I must admit the fried pork chops are still on my mind. Customer service was good. Despite a small language barrier and having to flip on my Spanish, my waitress was quick, attentive and sweet. Coffee was nothing more than a cup of foldgers! A little disappointing when I rely on a good cup or 3 before I eat. I had a hard time deciding what to eat but don't let that discourage you. The menu is very simple, I'm complex. The fried pork chops were extremely tasty. Slightly crunchy and perfectly moist. Combined with cheesy eggs scrambled and hash browns, my breakfast was a delight. Sampled the migos entree as well and it's definitely a plate of interest! But don't pass up that chop...

Don't know what they thought but this a hamburger patty floured and deep fried to look like a steak.

Not bad of a place - small mom & pop place. The staff is friendly and the food is homemade like. The banana pudding is pretty delicious.

I have yet to go for dinner because it's the first and only consideration on a Saturday/Sunday morning for me. Service is consistently excellent, but a special shout out has to go to Michelle for being especially sweet and personable. She made the restaurant experience more of a house guest experience - warm and welcoming. The place itself is very open, fresh, and modern. Perfect on a beautiful day. Then, of course, there's the food. Straight from the hand of God. The shrimp cocktail with avocado served on chips is absolutely mouthwatering. The honey glazed pork belly on top of cheesy grits will send you to heaven. Be sure to add chorizo to your order of migas for an absolutely perfect hispanic dish. The crown jewel of the brunch elite is hands down the blue corn butterscotch pancakes. Just reading the name you know it's something special, but it won't prepare you for how magnetically delectable it is. I honestly want to go to Encina once just to order these pancakes and, should I actually finish the generous portion, order another, and another, and another until an ambulance arrives to resuscitate me from dying of such glee... only to order another round. You can always order up with the Montreal Long Haul that includes the pancakes but also comes with duck leg confit and hash browns, but honestly, as good as they are they just can't compare. One last notable mention: Clarified Bloody Mary Martini. I don't do Bloody Marys. I don't do martinis. I do this, however, foaming at the mouth. Horseradish infused vodka, friends. It's a cure-all from boredom to dyslexia. You drink this and you can see sound in color.

So…read morewhen we found ourselves down in BA, we thought what the heck let's just walk in and see what happens. It was a Saturday morning and it was pretty packed but we didn't have to wait for a table which was nice. We had a lovely table in the back room. Loved the vibe of this place too. It was cozy and intimate but not stuffy or boring either. The Clarified Bloody Mary was pretty unique and deliciously horseradish forward. It was a nice twist on the drink. I love a good croissant and though that they don't make theirs in house, 6 bucks for a warmed up croissant from Empire bakery was one of the better croissants I've had in my life. Since it was our first time, we got all the viral hits. The breakfast sandwich was pretty yummy. Honestly though, I think there might have been better options on their well written menu. You could taste all the quality in the ingredients but it didn't have a big flavor punch and the texture to me was just all soft, no contrast. The Goat Guisado Tacos, now that was a game changer. Build your own tacos, super flavorful stewed goat meat with the cabbage crunch and those amazing cheese crusted tortillas - Yea that was a show stopper! But for the main event, those Blue Corn Pancakes 100% lived up to the hype. The pancakes themselves had this lovely mealy texture and they weren't super sweet on their own. But enjoyed with that perfectly melted butter, butterscotch, and maple syrup, yea what a perfectly balanced and harmonious bite of food. Well done! Can't wait to come back!
