Super disappointed. Staff was nice. You order at the counter. We've been waiting for this place to open since my sister said it's a staple she has over in Austin, TX. Well we went this morning to order some tacos before starting our day. I'm not even going to bother going into detail because the thing that turned us off completely was the sewer water smell filling the dining area. We couldn't stomach it with it being so strong so we had to go outside to wait for our order so we could have some fresh air. All appetite was lost and just so we wouldn't feel bad for wasting food, we ate a couple of chips with the queso we ordered. The 4 tacos we got were just shoved to the side bc if the restaurant smelled like literal dog shit, what would the meat taste like? Maybe someone used dirty mop water to close the night before or something. But with this being a new establishment, it's really not a good look. read more

First off, we're very familiar with Torchy's having visited the original food truck in Austin years ago. Have also visited Houston and the new location in St.Pete, Fl. So we were very excited to have one in Altamonte Went in on December 22nd and first appearance is the typical Torchy's ambiance and exciting environment. I ordered the chicken burrito, husband ordered two tacos, daughter got the kids chicken finger/avocado kids meal, and son got three tacos (admittedly he tends to order too much food, and he got the largest one which is enough for an entire meal). Once we received the food it was sub par and meh. The queso was lukewarm.....Which the queso is the whole reason to go here. Previously, our opinion was Torchy's is literally the best queso we ever had. Not so much in Altamonte. The kids meal only came with dry chicken fingers, and I let the food runner know we got the mixture of chicken and avocado and she had no idea what I meant. She went to ask someone up front and came back to confirm there is no combo for kids. I let it go. But when she left I had a menu and double checked. Yes, you can mix. So she didn't ask a manager or no one actually checked. The burrito was just a blob of beans and rice. All the stuffing was just sort of blended together. Add the fact it was lukewarm and While we wanted this experience to be good, we just weren't impressed. Staff need to be trained a little better and temps always need to be checked on the line. Based on our first experience we're not excited to try again. To top all this off, husband attempted to report our experience online but their website is conveniently not working properly to allow it to be submitted. Oh my, so much hype and so very disappointed. We spent $22 per person (2 people) for a few small, basically empty, unfulfilling tacos, sides of street corn (almost $6 for that each) and both of us (truly small eaters), left very hungry. I'm not sure who is writing these wonderful, glowing reviews, but after our visit and we shared our experience with friends and family, all we heard was "us too". Same experience. Driving into their parking lot is not easy if you're coming from the Longwood area. I walked into the restaurant, and it looked promising. After reviewing the menu, I noticed that even though they have about 10 taco options, each one has a separate meat option. If I want chicken, why is there a fried chicken option and not many others? There should be 3-5 different chicken options alone. Fried chicken is not a typical option at Mexican places. When I tried to order, I couldn't hear the cashier very well. The music is so loud that there was no way to communicate verbally. When paying, the credit card machine was soooooo that I could barely read the screen, and I have perfect vision. I couldn't get past the payment screen without the tip there, so I just tipped even though this place seems self-service, e.g., you order at the cashier, get your own drink and pick up your order. Speaking of that, I got a buzzer, but I have no idea what to do with it. It's been 10 minutes, and I haven't received my order, a single taco. So I'm sitting at a table looking stupid. By the way, I don't see any salsa bar? What Mexican place doesn't have salsa available? While writing this, my order did show up. It was brought to me by an employee. I guess they know where the customers are seated? I can't imagine if the restaurant is very busy that they could possibly know which orders go to which tables. There is a big selection of drinks, mainly alcohol based, with a decent sized bar. That must be the bigger drawl here. When I used the restroom, the music was blaring in there as well. I took a quick decibel reading, and it hit 87. That's pretty loud. And on the floor with only 5 tables occupied, the music is still ridiculously loud and annoying. I really was looking forward to finding a good Mexican place or place with a nice atmosphere where you can have a taco or two or a similar option in a nice, laid-back chill place. Stopped in for a quick bite to eat to try it out. The restaurant was clean and the staff were friendly. However, the food was very subpar. This is my first time at a torchys so I can't compare it to other chains. We originally ordered poblano salsa, but had to change to roja salsa because they only had enough poblano peppers for their tacos. That was totally fine and understandable. The salsa was good. Chips were crispy and evenly salted. The chicken fajitas taco was flavorful however wish the cheese was actually melted and the flour tortilla warmed up more. The democrats taco was flavorful but the barbacoa was a little on the salty side (but this is also a preference in my saltiness). The orange taco (blackened salmon) was okay. The salmon lacked flavor. The avocado salsa tasted like the avocados were not ripped before making the salsa. IMO the restaurant is expensive for okay food. So glad to see a brand new business open their first location right in the neighborhood. Visited Torchy's on their opening night, had their torchy's red beer brewed by Sanford brewery and sampled a few things that I would highly recommend. The hillbilly queso was delicious and the chips were thin, crispy, and salty. Next I had their firebrush taco which is Jamaican jerk chicken, and their signature trailer park taco which is fried chicken. I can't wait to go back and try the breakfast tacos and some margaritas. The decor was very different than anything else in the area and had a high end feel but still fast casual comfortability. Good bar area with TVs playing sports and great service from the bartenders. This spot, by far has the best tacos in the area. I highly recommend the 'trailer park, trashy style' or the 'Ace of Spades' from the secret menu. Of course the queso is also unbelievably good. You can't go wrong unless you don't like stuff that tastes amazing (aka if you like your food bland ask them to make it without spice). The service is always top notch because unlike most places they have a good amount of staff working. There are tv's at the bar if you want to watch a game and there are both alcoholic beverages and a great selection of nonalcoholic beverages as well to enjoy while you dine. We were looking forward to trying a new place we heard good things about but unfortunately it turned into some of the worst service I've experienced. As a family of 5 we walked in and looked at the menu near the door until we decided, we were never greeted just stared at. We went to order and were just ignored. Two servers kept walking past and just looking at us and then ignoring us. We finally left after it was clear they had no intention of serving us, when we mentioned it as we left they just said "oh sorry" and went back to ignoring us. 3 star only this time. We have been to Torchys at least 20 times but all of those out in Austin. Never had a bad experience. And the first time here was what we experienced out in Austin. It was the second week of opening and the place was hoping. Went this past Saturday to try the breakfast tacos. Ordered the Mingas and the Brisket taco each both my wife and I. At 10:00 in the morning there was only one other couple there. We ordered and sat down. 22 min. later our food came out. Delivered by the same young lady who took our order and was cleaning off all the tables. The whole time thier only one other party came in behind us. Thier food was delivered the same time as ours. On top of this the eggs were cold as was all the rest. I hope this was a one off as we love Torchys. Again we will go back to try again. read more

Tried this for the first time on Saturday. Went around 4:30 it was pretty busy but there was plenty of indoor and out door seating. I was gonna try sitting at the bar to watch the Ravens game but it was full, no worries though. There were three different TV's around the bar and some more on the right side of the seating area. Me and my wife both had the Trailer park taco, I got mine trashy which is removing the lettuce and adding cheese. Outstanding flavor, the chicken was outstanding and well cooked it came on a flour tortilla but you can substitute for corn if you'd like. I would stick with the flour as it was a little messy. I also had the Republican which was a jalapeño cheddar sausage, wasn't a fan but I wouldn't say it was terrible, just not my jam. My wife also had a Baja taco which came with fried shrimp which was also delicious. Last but not least was the salsa and chips which was great and nice and spicy but not too bad. Almost forgot also had a sucker punch drink which was yummy. The service was outstanding and we got our food really quick. I will definitely be coming back again. I actually visited the new location in Altamonte Springs, FL on Thursday, December 14th. My girlfriend and I brought our dog and were immediately met with an employee, Cade, who was very inviting and recommended we should order at the bar and find seating on the patio. Cade was kind enough to bring out a bowl of water for our dog as we waited for our food. Unfortunately, at this time our dog had an upset stomach and threw up. We asked for a rag or something to clean it up and the manager, Phil, was fast in coming out and cleaning it up for us. Our food arrived and it was good! I ordered the Crossroads and Democrat. The brisket on the Crossroads was fantastic. Very fresh ingredients was just confused as both of my tacos came on flour tortillas instead of corn. Phil made sure to come back out and check to see how we were doing and get our opinion on the food. Overall, a great experience and fantastic employee experience and engagement! I will be back. We got to try Torchy's Tacos right before Christmas, and then I caught a horrible cold, so now I really have to think back to what we had. You can have full service at the bar, which was full when we went, or order at the counter and they bring it out to you. They offer a number of specialty drinks and a selection of draft beer. Seeing they were from Texas, I was hoping to get a Shiner Bock, but alas, they didn't have it. But I was happy to settle for a Mango Cart, ready for cold beer to go with the abundance of tacos we ordered. I managed to caption each photo with which tacos are pictured, but I would say my favorites were probably the fried chicken Trailer Park Trashy and the beefy Crossroads. I actually enjoyed everything we got, and even though the tacos are on the pricey side, they are pretty large and filling, so you feel like you get your money's worth. Service is quick, but my one complaint is they don't give you any silverware, and I didn't even notice any sitting around anywhere. That gets a little annoying when your taco is spilling out after covering it with sauce. Better leave some tortilla for mop up duty! read more
