This place has a lot of wins. First off, I love the inside. Super cool interior. Second, the menu of tacos is large. I didn't even know where to begin. I went with the barbacoa tacos and Jamaican jerk ones. I wasn't crazy about the barbacoa but that's more because I'm not a huge beef person. However, when in Texas you gotta try the BBQ cuisine, know what I mean? The chicken ones were perfect! Now, my friends told me that i had to try their famous cheese dip. Torchy's tacos is legit. I was starving coming off a flight and had to get some quick food in me. Place was pretty busy for a Wednesday at 5pm. Ended up getting myself 4 tacos. All of them were really good except for the vegetarian one (mushrooms). That was mehhh at best. The real big kicker was their queso - I got their Hill Billy Queso (Queso with Chorizo Bits and spices) REALLY REALLY GOOD. Well worth it. Drinks are pretty good, tacos are great, but the servers and cashiers are not very friendly. I've been here 3 times and each time it's like I'm a bother when I stand at the counter to order. Nice to have option for indoor or outdoor dining. Same person who handles the cash is the one who steps around the corner to fill your drinks. No handwashing in between. No gloves either. I've eaten here every day of my vacation, and it's my third visit and second visit to this location. I'm in love with the queso, diablo sauce (spicy!!) and the Mr. Orange (salmon) taco. Prices are very reasonable and I can't believe they managed to make the Mr. Orange under 300 calories! At this location the food tends to be a bit saltier and I thought the queso was supposed to have guacamole on top but it didn't either time. The taco menu is full of creative flavor combos, though I'm content with Mr. Orange and keep ordering that one. There are also breakfast tacos and burrito and salad options available. This one also has a full bar and they have their own margarita concoctions. Torchy's doesn't seem to appeal to tourists only and every time I've gone in, I sense that I'm the only tourist there. This means that there isn't an unusually long wait for food, which I appreciate. If you order one thing from the menu, make it their queso! read more

Decided to try Torchy's for the first time today. So I did an online mobile pick up order. Menu was great with lots of choices. I got the salad and ordered extra protein (chicken) which was $2.00 extra on top of regular chicken selection which cost an extra $1.00. So my salad turned out to be almost $13.00. I expected for this pricey salad to be excellent, and correct. I picked it up, and they checked it before handing it to me, and said it all looks good and tied bag up. I got back to work and low and behold missing my extra chicken!!!!! Ugh go figure my luck. Called to restaurant and explained. Refunded extra chicken price. Torchy's is a cool, hip fast casual taco joint with a full bar they also have really neat decor in and out. The menu selection is unique and the food is always fresh and service is fast. Even with their fast growth in Austin and other states, the consistency stays the same. We ordered the Migas Taco (eggs, crisp tortillas, green chilies, avacodo, Pico, Jack cheddar cheese and fresh tomatillo sauce). It had great flavor combinations and texture. Also the #3 (chorizo, egg and cheese). Again another winner. Eggs were cooked perfectly and had nice spice from the chorizo. And finally the #6 (spinach, egg and bacon). I have been here numerous times and it's a really nice and clean Torchys. They have neat decor and know how to move people through a line. To Go orders and dine in are normally done within 10 minutes and there's been a couple of times they have thrown in a free bag of chips. Austin has a few problems, but access to a taco joint is definitely not one of them. From the time I came to Austin for college, I've been a torchy's fan. I came up on torchys before they had the north campus location, and I moved to the Mueller area before that one was built. Call me "OG". But when I heard one was moving into my 'hood I was definitely excited. I basically never go inside the building. We walk around and through the side gate and head straight to the outside bar for a house marg with salt and what used to be the Lorena, but has since be renamed. It's a house infused spicy cocktail, and it's quite tasty. I can't leave without a Mr. Pink (tuna) but the best taco you can get in Austin is the Missionary Style green Chile pork off the secret menu. The pork is fantastic and the pickled red onions and avocado finish it off strong. If you think it's a chain now, and not worth visiting... think again. read more

Wow! Torchy's is actually pretty good! I enjoy their food and their speed of service. When you walk in, you are invited to this smelling aroma of tacos everywhere, spicy/savory/tasty tacos with smiling faces all around. At first, I had the expectation that Torchy's Tacos are really overpriced, but you get a good amount of food for the price you pay for it. Some of my favorites are the Breakfast Tacos, Trailer Park (make it Trashy!) and the Republican. The Trailer Park has a nice piece of fried chicken into a taco paired with some great condiments and toppings. The Republican has some spicy jalapeno sausage paired with wonderful green sauce (I forgot the name of it, my apologies). I can't believe people in Texas don't appreciate this gem they have. My husband and I spent a few days in Texas 2 years ago and we literally went to Torchy's like 3 times. The tacos were flavorful and fresh, with some interesting combos (I have never seen salmon used in a taco and my husband loved it). We tried the salmon, shrimp, fried avocado, chicken, and several other tacos and thought they were all great. This Torchy's is the ABSOLUTE worst. I ordered food for pick up and was told 20-25 minutes. I showed up after 20 minutes, and my order wasn't ready, so I was given a tracker and asked to sit and wait. I waited for almost an hour. I went to the cashier to see what the delay was. They ended up taking my order to the cashier, so it was sitting there while I was waiting. I have gone to all Torchy's in the Austin area, the majority a whole lot busier than this one. Every single time I come to this location, I always wait close to an hour for my food. I don't understand why this place that isn't that busy as the ones on SoCo, 1st, and Guadalupe CANNOT figure this out! This is so frustrating because I love Torchy's and this one is less than a quarter mile from where I live. However, I'll start going to another location if I want tacos. When in Austin, eat Torchy's! If it's good enough for President Obama to make a pit stop during his visit to Austin, then why not me? I went with Trailer Park ($3.75) and Crossroads ($4.25). Our group also ordered two queso and chips ($5.25) to share. The queso was delicious. It had green chile queso, guacamole, queso fresco, cilantro, and diablo hot sauce. I would definitely recommend getting this, especially if you're with a group. The Trailer Park consisted of fried chicken, green chiles, pico de gallo, lettuce, and cheese. Crossroads had smoked beef brisket with grilled onions, jalapenos, cilantro, jack cheese, and avocado. Both were good, although I preferred the Crossroads (maybe because I can't get enough of avocado). The tacos are pretty big and very filling, so I only ordered two. And thank goodness I did, because I was nearly full by the end of my first taco. I've definitely had better tacos in California, but I'd certainly come back to Torchy's if I'm in Austin again. This is my goto torchys location. If you haven't, check out my other torchys reviews because this place is literally the best of the best. This location is large and their patio is amazing. Also dog friendly. We love going here, sitting at the bar, and having a margarita. There are several other locations that don't have an outdoor area closer or just have tables and dirt. We will drive farther to go to this location. Ask the cashier for the secret menu if you want to take your tacos to the next level! I also tend to love their taco of the month read more

A large margarita helped pass the time until my two taco choices of the "Republican" that was very tasty in spicy flavors and was very fun as I have never seen a sausage in a Taco.
