Don't let this place's trendy decor and business fool you. First and foremost, nothing we ate was good. I've eaten at the original Torchy's food truck in Austin and it was so amazing we wanted to drive up there just to eat. Fried avocado was soggy and overpowered by too much refried bean. Mr Pink tuna has no flavour and was dry. How can fish be dry I don't understand? Migas...was pathetic. Eggs tasted like lukewarm water with styrofoam in it. None of the food came out hot or even warm. Sauces were good. Today was my "cheat day" for my diet and I regret what I ate and wished I had gone somewhere else. If you're in Austin, just go to the food truck. It's a thousand times better. Edit: I got suuuuuuper stomach sick that evening and it's still bad this morning. Torchys in Clear Lake?! Awesome! Sat at the bar and was greeted immediately. Ordered queso for appetizer and wasn't sure if there was guacamole in it because it barely had any.. the other locations I have been to give a lot more. I ordered the brushfire with corn tortilla and Baja shrimp with corn tortilla. They ran out of mangos for the brushfire which they failed to tell me until I noticed myself and asked... Other than that the tacos were good. I ordered a Corona-Rita and it was good. Atmosphere is very laid back, you can wear workout clothes and you'll be fine. What can I say? Tbh I had low expectations of Torchy's before actually trying it. But let me tell you their queso is soo delicious and I loved the Baja Shrimp taco. They are not like the traditional Mexican tacos but they have their unique touch and flavor. It is worth the try. read more

Parking: Restaurant has a medium size parking lot but it filled it up when I got here. Seems like it is annoying to get a parking spot for this place. Time and Day: Came on a Sunday at 4:00 PM. Place was 95% full and parking lot was almost full too. Seems like this place is popular even at 4:00 PM on a Sunday. Food: I got three different tacos for today. First detail I noticed was that the tacos are larger than expected. I should have ordered two instead of three because I was almost full by the second one. The first taco ordered is from the breakfast menu (they do serve breakfast all day) is the Ranch Hand ($3.50) and it was terrible. Meat was too chewy, and the Diablo sauce didn't go well with it at all. Maybe change the sauce and cook the meat better to make this taco tastier. Ranch Hand gets a (1/5). Second one is The Republican ($3.25) and they take a piece of sausage, cut it down the middle, and place with cheese and pico de gallo. This taco was good and I would order this one again so this gets a (4/5). Last taco I ordered was the Crossroads ($4.25) and it was the best out of the three. The brisket was cooked perfectly and was delicious with the jalapenos and avocado. This taco gets a (5/5) and I highly recommend to get this one out of the three I got. Overall, the food gets a (3.5/5). Service: You basically stand in line, order at the counter, and take pick a table as you wait. There are no waitresses and waiters so everything is self-serving here. Can't comment on the service other than it takes a while for the food. Service gets a (2.5/5). Price: Large tacos for a decent price. I say the price justifies the food here. Overall: The food is a hit or miss depending on what you order. I think I got lucky with the tacos I selected (except the Ranch Hand). Service is self-serving here and it takes a while for the food. Service gets a (2.5/5). We have been coming here during the shut down and ordering once or twice a week. Usually around 830 pm. Every single time we have been shorted 1 item in our 6 item order. Either shorted a taco or a side. By the time we get home it's too late to call as they close at 9pm. That leaves us without. We kept thinking it would change and it hasn't. No point in getting the shorted item the next day at lunch. Then we found Fuzzy's and we have been 4 times. They have never shorted us yet. read more

Torchy's I'm disappointed at this location. I think it's time to change up how food is delivered at this location. This location need to be revamped on the backside of things. Customer facing it's looking fine. I'll wait for a good taco but, when it comes out cold after waiting for 30 min good grief! I placed my order at 10:01pm and didn't receive it till 10:30. 1. If you place a take out order it shouldn't take 30min to get your order. If you look at other restaurants with take out its much quicker then dinning in. 2. A better system to help find people. I counted at least 5 times workers having a hard time finding the tiny number hanging on tables. I have been there countless times where workers are trying to find someone who order chips and dip 3. Have timer in the back that shows how long a order has been in the system before. Set a company goal to have a meal out at certain time. And work to improve on that goal! It's time to develop a new system that has accountability for your team in how they prepare the tacos and etc. 4. Have a system that can talk to the cashiers and let them know what time frame is looking like l. Communication is key for this location. read more

I love this place!! Everytime I go in it's the same routine, and it's never failed me. I get a half cup of chips and queso, a crossroads, and a trailer park, their fountain drinks are all definitely worth a try. I enjoy all my tacos with a healthy dose of poblano sauce, and occasionally a scoop from the queso. Grab a fork and a lot of napkins, it can get messy, especially if you choose to "make it trashy" (they replace the lettuce with queso) the resteraunt is usually clean and spacious, try to beat the rush hour though, it can get very packed. If you can't find parking here, just go home and come back later, the lines here don't move. It can get as cheap or expensive as you make it, but in moderation I'd say it's definately worth the price. read more

I have trouble understanding all the hype for this place. My SO and I arrived at 1:30 PM on a Saturday and it was literally packed, we had to sit outside on the un-scenic patio facing the power lines. We ordered the guacamole and chips for starters, a couple of their craft beers (they do have some good ones) and a couple tacos. The chips came out quickly, but the tacos took about 30 minutes, and they totally forgot about our drinks, even though we asked about it. That cost you two stars. The tacos are pretty good, but no better than you'd get from your neighborhood taco joint. I can think of 5 places nearby off the top of my head where I'd rather get tacos. I know this place currently has newness appeal, maybe "Austin appeal", but they really need to up their game if they want to keep this place open. Came for opening day. The line wasn't bad but I was in a rush so unfortunately I was unable to wait. So this isn't about the food but the service. It started off ok.. Every time I go to Austin I absolutely have to eat at Torchy's. They make vegetarian tacos and they are delicious. My favorite is the fried Avocado taco. I also love the Pink Drink they offer at their soda fountain. In Austin there are several Torchy's and they even have a drive-thru. My expectations were not even close to met at this location. First off don't come here hungry because you will feel hangry by the time you get your food. It seems like there are no other restaurants in the Webster area because everyone in this part of the city is in line here and it will take at least 20 minutes to get through. I love Torchy's but the line is not worth the wait. The cashier lady was very nice though and I'm glad that the hordes of hungry people didn't change her attitude. I decided to get my favorites. I got the avocado taco with no cheese and I wanted the black beans rather than pinto. The cashier double checked my order and made sure it was right (that was awesome!) Then came more waiting. 20 minutes later my taco came out and I was on my way home. I opened the taco and it was covered in cheese. Are you kidding me? I'm lactose intolerant so cheese is an unpleasant experience, without taking a lactase pill, and it will make my bathroom feel like the apocalypse. I checked the receipt and it said "no cheese" in red. I guess the cooks don't pay attention to detail. This place is almost impossible to get into right now during peak hours and even some off peak eating times! Lines out the door and down the sidewalk which is great for Torchy's but hopefully it will level out a little when the new wears off. We were finally able to get in and it was fairly quiet around 8:30 am and the breakfast tacos were great, the migas breakfast taco especially and they have so many great sauces. The staff was very friendly, the set up of the restaurant was really nice BUT we found the floor to be VERY slippery and had to tip toe around carefully which is why I took off a star. Later visits the floor is being kept cleaner and rugs are helping coming out of the kitchen. The lines are still long at times but they go pretty fast at times. Migas taco is THE BEST! read more

Torchy's is easily my second favorite in a long list of taco spots in the United States. Most locations I've been to are about the same. This is a solid one. Tried it out a few days ago and while the food was tasty they did mess up my to-go order.
