After running errands all afternoon, I swung by to finally check it out and am SO glad I did. This place is small and cozy, but service was speedy and friendly. The portion sizes were HUGE, and the bento gave so much to sample for $14. Yes, only $14! Everything, from the teriyaki to tempura, was so tasty and filling. We've been loyal customers for years, always treated the staff with respect, tipped generously, and never once needed a reservation. There were clearly open tables when we walked in. One of the hostesses started to seat us as usual, but an older woman we've had decent interactions with many times before suddenly stopped everything to ask if we had reservations. When we said no, she became extremely confrontational, told us they now require reservations (news to us), and basically showed us the door. No apology, no attempt to accommodate us, just rude and dismissive behavior on a special occasion. We left feeling humiliated and disrespected. After years of supporting this place, that's how they treat regular customers? Absolutely unacceptable. This was our last visit, we will never be back and can't recommend anyone else waste their time or money here. My wife & I devoured it quickly. The fatty tuna melts in the mouth with its rich chewy texture & palate satisfying sweetness. The same is true with the rests of the sushi. Yowza! I can understand why people really like this place. Even though it's a bit small, the service is amazing and the food is even better. We strolled in around 6pm on a Saturday and I think we were lucky to beat the crowd. We were seated right away and there were plenty of seats available. In the next 15 min, there would be a steady grouping of people waiting to sit around the front door. The decor is cute, with the classic sushi counter available to sit at. I liked how clean and nice smelling the bathroom was. We sat in the back by the kitchen and bathroom, something I usually get offended by, especially when there were almost all seats in the front of the restaurant open but I think they were just doing what planes should do, back to front. The service here really shines. You will never have an empty drink glass and they do such a good job making sure to keep your small table clear, especially if you order a lot at once, like we did. Everyone was super friendly to us, it felt like I knew them for a long time. You know what else really shines? The food. So fresh, so yummy! The highlights for me were the rice-less rolls. These were seriously like the fancy sashimi you get in very, very expensive restaurants but for half the price. I also was obsessed with the spicy garlic edamame, so much so I completely forgot to even take a pic of it, just dug right in. Gluten free people, do NOT go here. They don't know what they're doing. I've been a regular at this sushi place for a while. Every time I've gone, they've been able to accommodate my gluten free request and even had gluten free soy sauce. I usually stick with a Philadelphia roll and a few nigiri, and it's always been fine. This time, a new server I'd never seen before told me nothing on the menu was gluten free, not even the sushi rice. I asked him to clarify since, they always confirmed they could make it gluten free. But he kept smiling, nodding, and talking over me. He wasn't even listening to what I was asking. He kept saying that their sushi rice "has never been gluten free" because it's "marinated," and that NO sushi restaurant in this WORLD has gluten free sushi rice. He was rude and dismissive, kept brushing off the fact that I've been to plenty of sushi restaurants that do serve gluten free sushi rice. He just kept doubling down, acting like he knew better. Dude doesn't even know gluten free sushi vinegar exists. I was like is this dude being serious or he doesn't know what gluten is. I've been to so many sushi shops with gluten free sushi rice and are able to accommodate for gluten free requests. I asked him to check with the sushi chef about the sushi vinegar ingredients, but they all just looked confused, like they had no idea what I was even asking. Shouldn't THE CHEF know the ingredients he's cooking with? smh I honestly don't know if they've been serving me gluten this whole time or if they're just completely uneducated about it. Maybe they just didn't want our business but why lie saying nothing is gluten free when sashimi and edamame is naturally gluten free, it's just fish and beans. We ate at Toro Sushi last night. It was our first time there. It is a small restaurant with very limited seating and based on what we observed does a booming take-out business. It does have several seats at the sushi bar. But don't let its small size throw you off- everything we tried was excellent and the service spot on and very friendly. We started with a couple of Asahi beers served nice and cold. Next we ordered a Rainbow roll and a Spider roll. Each was nicely plated and delicious. The various flavors stood out reflecting the freshness and quality of the fish. We also ordered tuna sashimi and salmon sashimi. In my opinion this is one of the best ways to sample the true quality of the fish a restaurant is purchasing and serving. Each piece was buttery soft, delicate in flavor and superb tasting. Pricing was reasonable especially considering the quality of the fish. We will certainly be back. read more

Cuts are confident. Rolls don't feel like a Vegas magic trick stuffed with sauce to hide mediocrity -- they taste like the ocean and a sharp knife. Every time I come in, it's the same story: consistent, fresh, generous, zero bullshit. I've been eating here since they opened and it hasn't drifted an inch. We were their first customers just after they opened! We figured that might be the best way to really get everything FRESH Everything was delicious! I do wish it was a slightly larger portion of the vegetable tempura, but nonetheless, it was lovely. We made a couple of small requests with the rolls, and they hit every one correctly, so that's always a plus as well. For my personal liking: the tofu got way too soft after soaking for a little bit in the broth, but it is advertised as a soft tofu, so that is to be expected. Also, we had trouble with the rolls falling apart really easily. Not sure if they weren't just rolled as tight as they should have been, or maybe the rice wasn't as sticky as it needed to be, but the flavor was still there. Overall, we will definitely be back. The food was delicious, the service was kind and quick, and the general ambiance was welcoming and comfortable.
