This place was ... okay. Ordered: Carne Asada burrito (with no beans): It's pretty much rice and carne asada inside. There were a few onions and springs of cilantro in there but no guac, pico...the bare minimum. The meat was pretty grinded up, almost as if you were eating ground beef with a bit more texture. Carne Asada Torta (with no beans): This dam thing came with beans, but it wasn't terrible. Again, this had the same problem of having the grinded up asada. Did irk me a bit that they used a bean spread when I asked for no beans... Prices are around ~6 per sandwich and burrito. This would be a two star review if I had paid full price...but I was able to snag a coupon off restaurant.com for $10 off a $20 purchase. So in terms of price (with coupon) + quantity, 2 burritos and 2 sandwiches for $14 isn't that bad. They did provide me with 2 bags of chips, so that was cool. The tortas were cooked freshed to order, flavorful, and very light. They were rather tasty. The boyfriend enjoyed it and requested the samething a few days later. Food is overpriced, service is slow, and this is nowhere near authentic Mexican food. I went there once on my way to school and was completely disappointed. I ordered an order of tacquitos (4) and a small jamaica. The total came to nearly $8. It was just tacquitos, not a plate. I know places where you can get tacquitos, rice and beans, for under $6. To make things worse it took them nearly 10 minutes to get me my food and I was the only one there. The tacquitos were a huge disappointment once I finally ate them. They weren't greasy, which was nice, but that was the only plus. The chicken was mushy and felt grounded. Nothing had any flavor and the serving of guacamole was just sad. read more

I wasn't expecting much since I hated Q tortas. I've tried stake tortas and pork tortas here and they were pretty good. I think stake was a little tough and chewy for my taste but other than that the flavor was good. I still miss my tortas at el super taco in WLA. They have the BEST tortas around!!! read more

Came here with my mom and sister our orders took about 45 min and then my sisters order wasn't right... my mom had the Carne asada quesadilla and it had practically no meat and we were like ok that's fine we tried the fried bananas and on one of the bowls there was a hair! This review is just based off of one experience, but I plan on going back again and trying another of their many sandwiches. Tonight I tried their Cubana. It was recommended by the cashier so I took her word and ordered the Torta. When I picked it up I was very surprised at the size. It ended up being larger than a regular sized Togo's sandwich as was stuffed. The Cubana consists of three meats; milanesa, carnitas, and ham. When ordering you have the option to have everything on it or be a punk and make things difficult. If you go with the "everything on it " option it comes with; lettuce, cheese, tomatoes, beans, jalapenos, and some kind of chipotle sauce. You can now understand why this sandwich would be such a beast. After munching on the first half I came to realize that there was no real flavor that popped or stuck out in particular. The blend of the three meats went well together altogether made a hearty sandwich. If they worked on the flavoring of their meats though I have no doubt that this sandwich would be an instant mouth fiesta. Adding their green sauce to the sandwich worked out really well and did help to bring up the second half. My favorite part about this sandwich in the end was the use of the fresh produce. No soggy tomatoes or limp lettuce here. Also the jalapenos was a welcomed treat and added a surprise kick every few bites. I just can't put 3 Stars (which mean A-OK, which this experience was not) even though our overall evaluation averaged out to 2.79. To be honest I have to put 2 Stars as my final answer because "Meh. I've experienced better." is the truth. I've been eating Mexican food for over 30 years. I did not consider this meal/value to be A-OK. But maybe your experience will be different. We went to the restaurant and ordered and waited for our food. We thought of getting a soda while we waited until we found out the high price. Still, we were excited about eating there. We liked that the menu runs from a $1 for a taco to $4 for some things up to almost $8 at the highest for plates and such. Affordable! A possible problem is that everything has a sauce on it that is really hot/spicy for most of us. It was almost too much for some of my family. If you like heat, no problem. But if you can't handle the spiciness, it's almost inedible. I can't and I was able to eat only half of my chile relleno. But then again, I didn't want to eat more than half as it didn't taste especially good). I heated up my own refried beans to eat, that's how disappointing theirs were for me. Besides, they only gave me maybe three tablespoons of beans. I didn't bother to eat the rice after the first two bites. Dry with minimal flavor. The portion was fair sized though. About the chile relleno. I love these things. I always get one at any new Mexican restaurant I try, This one was sadly disappointing. A thin bitter tasting dark green chile. Cheese inside not melted nearly enough cheese. Batter soggy with all the sauce/salsa they put on top. One slice of cheese... slice? Processed? I couldn't tell by the taste which doesn't bode well. This place isn't the best Mexican food place in the world but it's not the worst. I ordered a carnitas torta (around 8 bucks) and it was just okay. It was a good size but lacked taste and the amount of carnitas was pretty sad. I decided to sit and wait for it to be made and the tables in the dining room were sticky. Now I understand why it was empty during the lunch hour. I'll go elsewhere next time. Oh! And I waited for about 5 minutes before I could even order while I could hear people speaking in the back and talking on the phone. Came here for my first time today and regret my decision. An extra star for my food being ready when I got there. The food was so tasteless. The beans tasted like water. There was absolutely no salt added or seasoning added to my food. Very disappointing. The carne is low quality and the portion size was extremely small for paying 11 bucks just for the carne asada plate. Less than a palm full of beans and rice. I have given this place a try a few times because it's down the street from my house but each time I have been disappointed . The first time I ordered the shrimp cocktail to go and when I got home I opened the cup and it was literally tomato paste with onions and some pathetic sized shrimp that I think my cup-O-noodles had bigger shrimp. Today I went with my friend to get some food because we haven't ate the whole day. I regret it. I got me a sope and a Bionicos- a Bionico is a mix of fruit that has lechera, granola and raisins. The bionico has soggy fruit and they didn't add what the picture had and it was overpriced. The sope was soggy as hell and the cream tasted very bland. There meat had no seasoning and tbh it was gross. . There customer service is good but tbh it is not worth it. read more

i've been interested in this place since the time of its construction. i love mexican food and the idea of opening a torta restaurant in an area dominated by fast food was an incredible idea (said my stomach). i loved the variety of meats for your torta and how it was the main food product. i came here with some friends and it's apparent business has not picked up because we were the only ones in their during lunch rush hour. the place was very tidy and clean and the people working were very happy to see us (and i'm sure it had something to do with us probably being the first customers). i ordered the chicken torta and like any other traditional torta it came with lettuce, beans, cheese, and the meat of choice. i had avocados in mine so that was an additional 50 cents charge. the chicken was well marinated and tender and it was very juicy. i enjoyed it very much and the salsa tasted fresh and was very very spicy! the only thing that sort of bummed me out was the payment method--unfortunately Tortas La Corona is cash only as mentioned in the previous reviews. Also i was confused by the lid situation for our drinks because my girlfriend has a lid on her cup that was from Quizno and my lid didn't have a hole to put my straw in! I went to this place yesterday with my family for dinner. It was our first time and even though its in a really small plaza its an really AWESOME PLACE. I ordered a Carnitas torta because they are known for tortas. It was DELICIOUS! My new favorite place to eat mexican food. The jalapenos inside the tortas makes it even better and more flavor. Everything there is fresh even their fruit salad. Their fruit salad is really worth it because they cut the fruits right in front of you and the people there are really nice. The store must be a front for something illegal I recently changed my review after reading other reviews and recalling my experience and all the bad reviews are right! What kind of restaurant has a person working in the front that does not know the menu and hates customers. What kind of restaurant puts little quality in their food that makes everything is bland? Are they are trying to go out of business? They simply don't care. The tacos are small as hell, the burritos taste like tuna or cat food in or tortilla, the beans taste like nothing. I have been here 4 times always get a taco plate. It was ok; this place is just around the corner for quick food. However Taco Bell next door has better tasting food. Cleanliness may be a issue everytime I came here I can never put anything in the tables because the are sticky or greasy. I've tried a lot from this menu but everything I tasted was better somewhere else close by. I think the last straw was when I ordered tacos (lengua, carne asada, and carnitas) and it tasted the same. I still think this place is better that Pepe's down the road but if they had a scheduled cleaning time like after a customer is completed to come out and wipe down the table and sauce station it would be amazing.
