We chose J. Alexander's for our Father's Day dinner, and overall I had a great experience. The restaurant is beautiful, clean, and has a classy, upscale atmosphere. The hostesses and wait staff were phenomenal--friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. I ordered two Faux-itos, which were delicious and refreshing--I didn't miss the alcohol at all! For my entrée, I had the Thai Salmon with Crispy Shrimp special, and it was outstanding. The salmon and shrimp were cooked perfectly, and the sauce was absolutely delicious. We also shared the crab dip as an appetizer, which was a huge hit at the table. My husband enjoyed the baby back ribs, and after trying a bite, I can see why--they were excellent. My parents had a more mixed experience with their meals, as my mom wasn't a fan of her salad or coffee. One small issue was that my dad noticed a rat trap near our table, which was a little surprising given the otherwise polished atmosphere. Despite that, the food, service, and ambiance made for a very enjoyable Father's Day celebration, and I'd definitely return. read more

NON-COVERED STRAWS I watched my server reach into his pocket, scratch his head, enter orders into the POS system, and handle cash and credit cards from multiple guests. After all of that, why would anyone think it is sanitary for that same person to handle my uncovered straw with bare hands? This is not a minor issue. Straws go directly into customers' drinks and then into their mouths. Using uncovered straws exposes guests and their families to unnecessary germs, bacteria, and cross-contamination. Is the company using uncovered straws simply to save money? Because from a customer's perspective, it feels like cost savings are being prioritized over basic sanitation and guest safety. This should be treated as a food-safety and brand-standard issue, not a preference. Please bring back individually paper-covered straws immediately. read more

Been here quite a few times for work lunches. It's a very solid lunch spot with an upscale feel. They have a little bit of everything to choose from. I like the chicken dinner as well as the prime rib. But the two stars are the macaroni and cheese and the carrot cake. Neither are average by any means! Trust me, just get both! Invited 2 out of town guests to J. Alexander's, Peachtree Pkwy, yesterday! They loved the fried calamari (perfectly tender inside and crisp outside)! Our entrées (main courses, really, bcoz Entrée is French for appetizer) consisted of the Salmon (cooked perfectly) & Burger (asked for Medium came out well done) for our friends, the Cod Fish Taco for my wife & the Prime Rib French Dip for me! Everyone loved their MC!! My French Dip was the Best I ever had - piled high, pink roasted tender beef with the Jus & Horseradish. The fries were absolutely great! My wife loved her Fish Taco and Rice 'n Beans side, however they could have used less (1/2 less) cole slaw & more Cod (1/2 more) in the Tacos. Our server, Jacob was exceptional, and right on top of our every necessities. Professional & knowledgeable for sure!! Thanks Jacob! A couple of days ago I went and had the seared ahí tuna with rice and fresh cut tomatoes Cierra was very pleasant to work with, she ensured that my water was always full, that I had the food cook to ordered and light conversation. Got the ahi tuna burger with fries (around $17) and it was pretty good. I think this was the special of the week. A large portion of fries came with it and it's thin fries. My only thing is that the dish, both the burger and the fries started to get a bit too salty halfway through. I saw other tables getting the salads which were huge and looked good so might try that next time. Service was truly amazing, from the ppl who were greeting and leading you to your table to the ppl taking your order. Ambiance and decor is nice, it soorttttt of reminds me of a Cheesecake Factory but rather than overwhelming chatter, it's pretty calm and quiet. Decided to stop in to J. Alexander one Sunday after church for some lunch with friends. Never been before, but always passed it and imagined they were good because their lot was packed. Well I was correct, the food was delicious! I ordered the Nashville hot sandwich with fries while my wife ordered the fish tacos. Our friends ordered the Rotisserie chicken meal and their lunch special: which was grilled fish with zucchini and rice. We all shared a smoked salmon dip for the appetizer. Everyone's portion size was generous and everything tasted great. After we all ate, we ordered a slice of pumpkin pie (they have daily specials for desserts) and it was big enough for 3 of us at the table to chair. I had an absolutely lovely meal at J. Alexander's tonight. I am on a business trip and I'm dining alone. The atmosphere is nice. There are sports if you want them but they are not stuffed in your face. I decided to try the veggie burger. I had to ask my server if she was CERTAIN that it was the veggie burger. So flavorful and moist! It came with shoestring fries that, personally for me, had just the right amount of salt. I finished off dinner with the crème brûlée (because it has been that kind of week). My litmus test for a restaurant is the quality of their crème brûlée and after dinner coffee. Ahhh - the crème brûlée had just the right consistency with a crunchy topping and firm crème.The decaf coffee was excellent - not too acidic and not too weak. The only reason I would give this restaurant a 4 is that I think the wine list is only so so in terms of "by the glass" offerings (although the Marboro sauv blanc that I had was lovely) . However the menu has offerings for everyone. From walking in the restaurant to being served my meal, the staff were EXEMPLARY!!! If I have to travel back to Peachtree corners in the future, I will definitely come in and try other menu offerings. read more

My boyfriend and I came in for dinner and were promptly seated despite not having reservations on a Sunday night at 7:30pm. The restaurant was very busy and lively. It looks the same as when it was J. Alexander's with warm woods and leather seats in a dimly lit setting. We started with the fire-grilled artichoke appetizer and it was very tasty with a smoky flavor. I love the dipping sauce it came with too. My boyfriend had the steak n' fries but substituted the fries for mashed potatoes. The steak quality of his dish wasn't the best or maybe it wasn't cooked right. It had a chewy texture similar to ahi tuna. I ordered the filet mignon with fully loaded baked potato and it was delicious. The steak was perfectly cooked medium rare and melt in your mouth. I highly recommend the Cindy's lemon drop for a cocktail--very strong and flavorful. While we were dining in, we noticed many patrons coming to the front door and it was locked with a sign saying they closed at 8pm. The early closure was due to staffing issues. It is understandable although I'm sure disappointing for those who could not make it. Luckily, we made it at 7:30pm and had the full dining experience. read more

Alexander's is a good steakhouse and seafood House salsa first night I went there. I had a ribeye with mashed potatoes in the ribeye was pretty darn good for a Texas boy in Georgia. The place was a warm style restaurant wasn't too bad sound levels and the waitresses were on spot for customer service. The service was excellent and the drinks were excellent. The second time I went there I had I guess it's called Hong Kong shrimp as an appetizer that was more than enough for a meal, the shrimp was based with honey mustard, and it was really good with flavored, but it's a lot of food, but I hope you enjoy it like I did read more

I do like this place but but not as much is the original J Alexander's chain. Sadly it's not on the open table reservation network so you can't really notify the restaurant or make reservations using the open table. I rarely make reservations anyway but at this location it does get busy sometimes and it would be nice to make reservations. This is a contemporary American cuisine restaurant serving purely American dishes one of our favorites is there macaroni and cheese baked in the oven and of course we do like their french fries.If you like steaks they make some of the best the prime rib of beef is absolutely delightful and their side salads the garden salad that's definitely what you want to pair with your steak. I was disappointed in their calamari they could make it a little crispy or the one I ordered was a little soggy and did not taste the way I expected it to. However I was compensated with my Asian Aji tuna salad that was said rare with field greens and wasabi in a cilantro vinaigrette - absolutely delightful it's not one of those things you find on an American menu it would be more like in the Asian fusion restaurant. This was my first time at J Alexander's but it definitely won't be my last. From the moment we walked in, and we felt extremely welcome to new. We made the right choice. The manager Latrisse was phenomenal, I have never experienced such amazing service. Not only did she walk us through the menu, she made some great suggestions (we took all her advice and ordered everything she suggested), but she also hooked us up with the soup of the day while we sifted through the menu. It was really nice not to be rushed. Have a amazing service eat great food and just have a really nice time overall. This is a great spot to enjoy with friends, or even come on a date as the main dining area is cozy and has a low lighting. Don't skip out on the carrot cake either! read more

This used to be one of our favorite restaurants, but the menu continues to shrink and prices increase regularly.

Too many misses during our visit... 1. We asked for some bread at the start, but it never came out. My steak arrived uncooked and had to be sent back. 2. A manager brought the recooked steak to our table, and when I mentioned the bread not arriving, he told me they had sourdough bread and promised to check on it--but it never showed up. 3. We ordered a side of mac & cheese, which was accidentally dropped after it was served. From a customer service standpoint, I expected at least an offer to replace it or take it off the bill as a gesture, but nothing was said. 4. They have always served a complimentary dessert for birthdays here, but not this time. Not only did they charge us for the dessert, but there wasn't even a candle. Meanwhile, the table next to us got a dessert with a candle right after ours was served. The lack of consistency was frustrating. We came for dinner around 8:30 an had to wait 35 mins for a table we were kept being told a table was going to be wiped off and that's what we were waiting on to be seated. Anywho we finally got seated me , my friend , and my baby in stroller , We sat on the left side of the restaurant with about 2 inches of step we went up it was kinda dark in the restaurant but that's not the point each table was set with one burning candle which really didn't make up for the lighting so i definitely recommend Better lighting for those not able to see to well in the dark it's more of a dim lighting and a burning candle look at each table . . . The food was ok no real hype about it since it took us long enough to choose something to eat No real ambiance and a few good food options i give the restaurant a 4/10 over all . Just got back from dinner. We used to love the restaurant and haven't been there for a number of years since we moved to a different state but we are back now and were looking forward to a good dinner. We ordered dinner - burger and prime rib. The food runner dropped off the food and immediately left before we could ask for forks (they took ours when they cleared our appetizer), ask for the horseradish I'd asked for when ordering, or ask for mayo for the burger. Sat there for 5 minutes before the waiter came by just looking at our food. When he brought the forks I tried the prime rib and the au jus was cold so I asked for a new one. When he brought new au jus my wife saw that the burger was overcooked compared to how she ordered it (we even confirmed with the server what medium rare was - it came well done). So he left to take the burger back and I tried the prime rib again and the au jus he brought was again - cold. I was basically done when the new burger came. By that time I was done and her burger, again, was overcooked (not the medium rare he confirmed earlier was a red center). Anyway, she ate the burger and he did offer a free dessert - which we declined. No manager came to check on what happened. I paid and we left. Really disappointing. The restaurant wasn't busy, at all, when we got there for our 5 pm reservation. Won't be going back anytime soon. read more

Drove from winder to meet a friend here for lunch so was starving to get here! The place was not completely full but had a 30 min wait at 1pm so figured this was the bomb! Was greeted quick and got our order for water in while we looked at the menu. Not requiring a huge meal, we went for protein salads and ended up with a chicken Cesar and the ahi tuna. The Caesar with chicken was a standard Cesar with added chopped chicken- seemed ok , nothing exciting at a $16 price point. I think the biggest disappointment was the ahi tuna. For a $22 price point , I really expected a great plate, a good sauce , large amount of tuna. I have to say it was probably a $12 tuna appetizer /salad as the tuna was thin, not very much, greens were mostly big lettuce so not impressed. My friend recommended this and I did t say anything was off, but did ask her about steaks as I've thought Alexander's was known for steak. She quickly said don't get a steak here- go across the street which made me further wonder where the value was in this . 2 salads and a water for $52 was great profit for them but overrated for me. Just didn't feel it. I wasn't taking pics as a yelper as we were discussing business, but will be looking at other choices when in the area. I can't say I recommend this at this time.
