So I went here for the first time yesterday and I won't be going back again. First off After filling In the form the receptionist told me just to wait whilst she dealt with other people as she had to put my details onto the system and it takes a while. Anyway people kept on coming in and I ended up waiting 10 minutes, it only took her a couple of minutes to put me on the system so really she should of made those people wait rather than me. I told the lady I hadn't been on a bed in a long time. She told me to use the platinum bed so I said fine. She then told me to use a stronger more expensive bed and I declined and then she went on to tell me it's because you have to wait for that bed. So I ended up going on the gold bed for 10 minutes which she told me had just had new bulbs put in. Anyway after 8 minutes the bed was so hot that I jumped off. I woke up today and my whole back legs etc is COMPLETELY burnt. Have been in agony all day and im constantly having to put aloe Vera gel on. Only go here if you are a frequent sunbed user. Definitely don't take their advice. So disappointed. read more

This tanning salon looks like all the rest, the only difference I noticed was that there prices are ten times more for no reason at all. Honestly it's sad. My boyfriend bought a pack of 10 high pressure sessions and it was over $400. I came in with him for a session expecting hors' doeuvere and champagne for these ridiculous prices and instead I was greeted by bratty attitudes and just another tanning place. Please avoid throwing your money away and do some research before you hand over your money for a fake tan. read more

I'm picky when it comes to tanning salons - there needs to be a combo of clean facilities, knowledgeable staff and good customer service. Total Tan in Marina del Rey has all of these qualities. I discovered them on yelp when I first moved here and I was hooked after my first visit. All the guys and gals there are friendly and know what they're talking about. They don't hassle you to buy something more expensive like some tanning salons do - they work with your budget and help to find you deals (for example with lotion packets). Phil, the owner, made a kind offer of matching my coupon that I was certain I still had, when in fact it had expired. He might have thought I was a little crazy, but he was still nice and humored me until I had realized my mistake :) no, he was great and it was another way to boost my confidence in Total Tan and appreciate how they do business. Ok, so I posted last week about my horrible experience at this place. Turns out Phil, the owner did try to contact me even though I never received the call. We spoke today and he explained the person I originally dealt with was a new employee and that's how the miscommunication between us came about. Phil was gracious, sweet and apologetic and offered to give me a free month at an upgraded level for the miscommunication and inconvenience. Now, I feel bad I wrote that bad review. read more

First time in LA visiting a friend who brought me to Total Tan. Super friendly staff, really knows their stuff! In and out in about 15 minutes which was a huge plus. I would definitely recommend the red light therapy. At first, I thought it was a gimmick but I've struggled with psoriasis all of my life. This place is great! I live in Venice and when I moved out here looked all-around venice, SM, and the marina for a well priced but not "cheap" tanning place and this is it! I HATE some of these big brand name tanning salons. They charge up the butt and are rude (specifically one on Main in venice). Love this place. I can here after I had a not so great experience at another tanning salon in culver city and they were friendly and efficient. The custom spray tan is really nice ! Not much of a smell at all and it was so contoured to my body. I work out a lot so it made my muscles and curves stand out. Not too orange colored, more bronzed and that was awesome ! No blotchie spots either! The only reason I gave them 4 stars and not 5 is because the prices are a little high for the custom spray. I think it was 75$ last time I checked !!! read more

Great experience. I do not go to tanning places often so it's nice to feel judged about my whiteness when I do. There is an upcoming Vegas trip and I need to get tan FAST. Just OK. I was a bit annoyed when I arrived at the same time as another lady who was 30 minutes late for her appointment (I was 10 minutes early). They helped her and made me wait. Not exactly a customer service move I would have made. My tan looked good though, pretty natural looking & with my Yelp deal I got it for only $30. Not sure if I'd be back since they said it's normally $75 per session, that's a lil cray cray to me. read more

I found this place by purchasing a package of custom spray tans from groupon and have been a returning customer ever since. I am a hairdresser and work inside all day long. I love what I do but unfortunately it keeps me from finding the time to lay outside to get a good tan. I met Anna over 6 months ago and been seeing her every 2 weeks for the most perfect application.. I ask for the most lightest natural looking tan and I fall in love each time. The application is impeccable and she knows how and where my body needs the most attention/definition. Besides the great job that she does, the facilities are clean and the staff is very friendly. I've tried the versa spray tan at a different tanning place, and stood in the box and the thing automatically sprayed me. Well my hands turned bright orange and I was embarrassed working on clients hair with my nasty colored hands and my uneven tan all over my body. Needless to say I will never do that again, you live and you learn. I will continue to use total tan again and again. Not to mention the prices aren't too bad either. If you go on Mondays they have custom spray tans for $20 and I suggest taking advantange. Ask for Anna. She'll make you feel like a million bucks! oh by the way... my favorite part... my hair looks blonder, my eyes look whiter... I just look healthier after my tan! Love it! read more

I used to be regular user of Total Tan in WeHo for many years. Bought girl scout cookies from Phil's daughters-that's how long I've been going there. Moved to the valley so I joined another salon for 5 years. Recently went back to Total tan and didn't know or realize that the bed turns on from the time on the wall, not the time set on the bed. Lost several minutes of tanning so I mentioned to the staff that it was not ok. There was a large guy at the front desk with a very big mouth who yelled at me and chased me out of the salon. I have not been back since it happened 2 months ago. I am going to the Marina salon to speak to Phil about this but I'm not sure it will do any good. Its unfathomable to me that front desk staff at so many establishments think they own the company. Phil is a very nice guy, but I will not give my money to this place where abusive employees who hate their jobs are in charge. read more

This is the best one-stop tanning place. They have airbrush, Mystic and traditional tanning beds. The location is ideal and they have a parking lot! Prices were great but the customer services even better. Anna helped check me in and ended up doing my airbrush tan. She was super friendly and put me at ease. I use to go to Cop-a-Tan, but then they moved to an incredibly bad location. I decided to try Total Tan because its close to my house. I'm allergic to the sun, but I still love to have color, so I always get a mystic tan. Since the only experience I ever had was the 20+ mystics at Cop-a-tan, I thought they were all alike - not so. At cop-a-tan after the mystic was over you had to towel yourself off because there was so much liquid running down you body - inevitably I would have streaks. At Total Tan I was actually almost completely dry after the mystic. It was great. I did come off a little yellow,/orange but I generally get one a few days before I'm actually going to be in the sun, so by that time the color starts to look more natural. I don't recommend getting a mystic the day before you are going to be in the sun. The staff seems nice and it looks very clean. read more

I had never done a spray tan before but with a 30th birthday bikini photo shoot looming I definitely needed to get my custom airbrush tan on! I luckily came across a Groupon deal for this place conveniently located locally in my 'hood. Mackenzie did my spray tan and was seriously a GENIUS with knowing what I needed in terms of muscle definition emphasis and color level. She was fun to chat with too during the tan and gave me tips on aftercare. Make sure you put the protecting lotion on your finger nails, tips and toesies so you don't get the dreaded dirty finger look! I slept in my tan and left the bronzer on for my photoshoot because it looked THAT fantastic. Smooth, even color deposition especially defining my abs and delts. I got so many compliments on my tan from the photographer to coworkers to random friends at the gym! I'm definitely going back before our trip to Maui later this year and for sure will use Total Tan next year for my first figure competition. Totally hooked! read more

I went here with a Groupon for the Infrared body treatment. The gentleman who helped me was named Phil and he was so amazing. He explained everything to me and kept checking in on me to make sure I was 100% comfortable with magazines, water, towels, TV. His kindness and professionalism is rare these days.
