So glad to see Total Wine & More expand and open up locations in the Tri-Valley and in Fremont! This particular location took over the old Sports Authority and is located to the left of Orchard Supply Hardware and Sprouts. There's plenty of parking in this shopping plaza. The store is clean and the aisles are clearly marked describing what beverage is sold there. If you select this location the website on your phone and search for a product, it will tell you where it's located in the store. The employees here are visibly around and always willing to help or provide a recommendation. I found their prices to be a tad lower than BevMo but their selection is much greater! read more

I was searching the online sites of the two large Bay Area wine and spirits stores for a liqueur for a birthday gift. Total Wine had it for 17.5% less than its rival and the store in San Ramon had the liqueur in a gift pack. I placed the order and 33 minutes later, I received an email that my order was ready for pickup. I've been to Total Wines to browse and was amazed with the large selections of wine, beer and spirits. I was checking out the wines and notices that they carried basic wines up to the high end reserves. What amazed me was that they even had wine from small boutique wineries that you could only normally buy at the winery. This store is located in the Crow Canyon Plaza, a large shopping plaza with ample parking. Upon entering, I was greeted and I stated that I had an online pickup. She directed me to the right to the Online Order Pick-up Desk. I showed the clerk my pickup email and she pulled my order from the shelf. I signed a received receipt and was on my way. I was happy to find the liqueur and it was in a gift pack too. And it was 17.5% less than the other competitor. Total Wine is a great addition to the local wine, beer and spirits market and I am now a fan. read more

When we visit total wine, we typically have an excellent customer service experience -- this institution's hallmark is a phenomenal customer service experience. Today, on 2/27/2021 at approximately 7:20PM PT we visited the San Ramon shopping center to visit Sprouts and Total wine. Our ladies went to Sprouts, and my friend and I both went into Total wine to pick up some spirits. Unfortunately my friend (who is 32, I am 32 as well) were both rudely kicked out of the store by an absolutely crass and rude manager Larry for my buddy not having his ID (his lady had it in her purse). We did not offend nor did we speak back when we were kicked out, I will say we were both minorities in a store and felt we were unfairly treated. I expressed it was not the rules we were upset with, rather the classless, poor and condescending delivery of the store manager Larry. Our cashier Alma was very polite and apologetic, however this review is primarily focused on the store manager Larry. We feel this manager's behavior is the antithesis of good customer service, and after asking for an apology and a discount we were refused both. I mentioned I'd write about it and this heavyset fellow with a goatee (we only mention physical characteristics in the event Larry is not the name of this person to facilitate identification) just said "go ahead" in a very crass way. Every employee in this store typically exemplifies extraordinary customer service, we wanted to make it clear to prospective customers and executive management that this person should not be employed within such a highly rated institution. Great staff and amazing selections on alcohol! They have such a big range of items and even sell liquor in bulk or in single cans (if available). They have small tiny one shot Don Julio bottles to the big ones as well! Perfect for if you want to just buy one or two drinks or stock up; you have the option for both! I usually come here to get my White Claws and Truly. They are ALWAYS in stock! The prices are also cheaper than Target, BevMo, Safeway, etc. I wish there was a closer location because this one is 15 minutes away but it's totally worth the drive. As the name suggests Total Wine & More is a wine grocery store. It's similar to Bevmo. It's located where the Loehmann's used to be in San Ramon. I stopped here last month with my sister and brother-in-law they were looking for something to bring to a gathering we were going to.They have a huge selection of wine and beer. We even spotted a Dunkin' Donuts beer! Pretty cool! We found out that they even have wine tasting here. The prices are a bit more than other stores but I guess it's because it's a specialty store. I caved in and bought some of their pretzels and sour gummy worms. Although they do have a lot of wine, I didn't see a huge offering of cheese and charcuterie. Maybe I missed it, but if you're putting together a wine and cheese board, I'd go elsewhere for the cheese. read more

Ughhh...shoulda gone to Bevmo (at least I would have gotten $10 off my $50+ receipt). Why so annoyed? Well, I made a point of getting out early on Friday 12/22 to get some last-minute gifts picked out and upon checking out, the cashier decided to carry on a lengthy personal conversation with the customer in front of me and didn't once look up and acknowledge me. I guess her time was on the clock and my time meant nothing to her. When I finally arrived at check out, there was no "Good morning, hi, what's up..." Nope, nothing. She did ask for my phone number. I gave her my mobile and she replied, "Nope." I then gave her my home number and she said nothing. "Did it work?" I asked. "Yeah." was her response. So delightful and engaging - NOT. Finally, she began cramming my six-pack beer cartons into a box. Nothing like gifting beat-up six-pack containers of expensive beer to my friends. She handed me my receipt - and of course NO "Thank you" or "Happy Holidays" - NOTHING. Her name tag had "Awesome" on it. She was "awesomely bad." I've been to this location a few times and folks there have been super friendly and helpful. The store has a great selection and their prices are very competitive so I don't need to shop around. Great layout, professional, friendly and attentive staff wandering around and offering suggestions and answering questions. Thank you!! And.. wine tasting! Oh yes! Got to enjoy a great Merlot, Zin, and a great Cab for only 10 cents! Take that Napa Valley!! Discovered another tasting counter that had samples of Hard Ciders! That was a first! Delicious! This store is outstanding - the service is amazing. There are always plenty of staff to advise you on wine selection, help with loading boxes, etc. My only complaint is that they tend to push overstock wines (particularly in the $10-30 range) that are not selling for good reason. But they will gladly advise on any varietal and price range. The selection here cannot be beat particularly at the higher end which can be difficult to find. read more

I accidentally dropped a bottle of expensive scotch minutes after buying it from the San Ramon store. The top of the box was not sealed but it was my fault. Regardless, I called the store and asked if there was anything they could do for me, knowing it was my fault. They were sympathetic to my plight and worked with me to rectify the situation as best possible with a replacement bottle. I was absolutely floored with this level of care. I have been into this store a few times, and last night my husband and I took a wine class. I like the decor of this store, and the classroom/tasting room in the back is nice. We have not encountered customer service problems like others have in other reviews. If anything, the few times I have purchased something since the store opened, the people at the registers have been polite and very helpful. For what I buy, their prices are good as well. The class was well run with the good pace. I'll plan on taking more classes, and even taking one at an LA location when I visit my parents! read more

I actually don't think in my sixty plus years on this planet I have ever been treated so poorly. I came today in a fabulous mood getting ready to head to my 96 year old dad's house to watch the 49ers and have a Manhattan and some dinner. We needed our favorite Bullet Rye to make them. I immediately saw that they were out of the large size. They were on the bottom shelf. I went to customer service to see if there were any in the back. The man behind the counter, assistant manager Paul, had asked someone in line to come over to ring him up so I waited until he was finished. There were multiple cashiers. He then started to leave to get another customer and I asked if he could possibly check to see if there were any in the back. He was so annoyed and then went to where they were located and used his bar code checker and said there was one in the very back of the shelf. He started to walk away and I asked if he could help me get it. He got very angry and flopped on all fours to get it. Bottom shelf way in back. I'm 5'2 and in my 60's and not even sure if I have the wingspan to reach hmmm. Assistant manager Paul is at least 6'2. The woman next to me said she couldn't believe how he was acting. Either could I. I asked him his name and he got even angrier. I actually felt nervous about what he was going to do next. He's a very tall man and very intimidating. I went to get in line behind one of the cashiers and he started yelling at me that there was only one line. No problem but there was only one other person in line and how would you know? Maybe a sign would help. He then said you come over here because you need to get home. Multiple people said I'm so sorry for this. I was actually shaking. The only saving grace was the other assistant manager Larry who apologized profusely. He was a class act. Otherwise just no words. BevMo I think you got a new customer. I came here on opening day and it was really busy! Lots of goodies and samples though - so yay! Since it was opening day, parking was a bit more crowded in this area. I came back after grand opening, and I think this store is really nice and well kept. It may be smaller than other Total Wines but customer service here is superb. The staff is knowledgeable and nice. My husband came here recently to use a coupon we received in the mail. Unfortunately, he left the coupon at home or misplaced it but he happened to have it on his phone. The cashier honored it. What great service! I am not a big wine or beer drinker but I hear this place has lots of great varieties of alcohol (better than BevMo). That BevMo on the other side of the freeway doesn't stand a chance. Parking here is pretty easy, it's just a big lot and aside from grand opening, the lot isn't too full. I still remember I had to circle around until I found a spot on the grand opening day but nowadays, it's just your normal parking experience. You will see something open. read more

My son came in to purchase a soda (he is 21 and could of bought alcohol but he doesn't drink alcohol) he was ask to leave the store. No explanation, my son is a the most well behaved person, never had problems with anyone, goes to the university and works full time. Matt helped me out in recommending some great wines / values. I generally aim for great tasting wine that is below $25 (it's obvious I won't be opening the aforementioned glass case). Paul Hobbs is one of my favorite wine makers. Besides the cabs he makes in Napa $40 and up, Matt found me a Paul Hobbs Merlot wine made in Argentina for $13 (not a typo!). Great wine. read more

This is the closest location to me and I only come here since its right next to my gym. I like that it has everything you need and more booze wise, except the other day they did not have the booze I was looking for. The staff is very helpful. I came here for a Reidel wine tasting class that came with three free glasses (Six if you include my spouse). They guy who led the class was a good representative and the manager was excellent. The snacks they put out for the evening were really good! Tons of local craft beers along with the beers youd expect to be anywhere. The tequila, bourbon and scotch selections are also pretty large. The wine section is huge. I was looking for a specific wine, and I decided to call them to see if they had it. They said they did so we went over there! I also found out that you can search online if they have it! If you put in the store locations, it will even tell you the aisle number the wine is located in! Matt helped me while there and he was very helpful in showing me similar items to the one I wanted! The variety is huge and I love that they have seasonal sections. I like that there's little books that are book guides to wine/beer/spirits as well, and it's free! I'll definitely be back! read more

A manager, I think named Matthew helped recommend some tasty ciders and saved me from accidentally buying one that wouldn't have been sweet enough. The ones he did recommend were very good! The store is the best stocked one I've found - It's been a challenge to find one store that carries both Jam Jar wine AND Parrot Bay rum (Sorry all you Malibu and Capt. Morgan's fans, but.. ugh! gross! (; ) I had been to two other Total Wines and neither had the Parrot Bay OR the Jam Jar. Kyle rung me up and was very professional and nice. There were two other staff members too who also went out of their way to show me where the stock was and to check if a certain cider could be special ordered. The only negative is they can't special order B. Nektar's Zombie Killer and it's the best cider. But the pineapple one Matthew recommended.. it was a close second! read more

If I was African American or any darker complexion person I would stay away. They don't offer you service, don't allow you to do taste, but cater extraordinarily to the Caucasian crowd. Once I went in there and they blocked the isle as if I was trying to steal and get away. One cashier held my money up, marked it, and still went and got someone else. Then when I used my credit card they asked if I had an additional card for identification after I provided my drivers license. This place is not for people of color. Extremely discriminating against people of color. Especially the store manager. San Ramon in general doesn't employ a lot of African American people because of how uncomfortable they feel abOut African Americans in their community. read more

I purchase a variety of wines that total well over $100 and the discount coupons do not apply because of some stupid code on the wine. When I go to BevMo, no restrictions on coupons. If it $10 off every $50 purchase, you get the $10 off regardless of what type of alcohol you purchase. Even the 5 cent sales items. Attempted to make a purchase here but was denied service because everyone I was with did not carry their I.D. This still occurred even when the people we were with was not present with us. The person at the register was even MORE RUDE giving attitude saying "it's too late now, I'm not going to sell it to you if they leave." Now apparently they cannot sell any items to us for 24 hours. We will never return to this facility ever again and will be contacting corporate for this appalling service. After looking into the website it does state someone who looks under 30 requires an I.D BUT DOES NOT SAY GROUP. I understand this may be a policy but there was no sign stating any of this. If you have the option between Bevmo and Total Wine&More I will choose Bevmo everytime!! I first went to Total Wine and more and bought some liquor. Expensive might I add. I then went to Bevmo and their price was $30 cheaper for the same item!! I went back to Total wine and more to return it because I obviously wanted the cheaper one and they said no returns and they couldn't price match it for me because it's a Bevmo price club. In San Ramon both stores are very close to eachother. I will always choose Bevmo. read more

I believe I went to one of these in Phoenix before and was just in and out. Today, I was out visitng family in San Ramon from SF . One of our stops was to check out Total Wine and see how much better is was than BevMo. It's much, much better in so many ways. Their selection appeals to all income types. From those who can afford Lafite and Screaming Egale to people like myself looking for a good Barolo at a reasonable price! We partook in "ten cent" wine tasting and the pourer was both knowledgeable and enthusiasti. TW's other staff was also very in the know about their product and the store layout was well thought out and informative signage to further educate the consumer. One can tell that they they hire the best, provide continuous training and care for their own. I'll definitely be back when in the area but do request that TW&M open up a store in San Francisco or nearby! Don't let San Ramonians have all the fun! read more

Went here to grab a bottle of tequila with my boyfriend. As we walked in we were greeted with an aggressive "MAY I HELP YOU??" And not in a helpful tone, more like a what are you doing here kind of tone? That threw us off.. not even a Hi or Welcome in! As we walk towards the tequila section, the man (assuming manager) follows us coincidentally and proceeds to pretend to scan random bottles in the isleHe then waited around for us still pretending to scan bottles. It made us feel really uncomfortable as we felt rushed to choose a bottle. After we got our Tequila, he coincidentally walks back up to the front after we walked away to the register. We knew what was up.. we were being discriminated. And they needed both our IDs to buy the alcohol even though my boyfriend was paying for it? That was weird. Me and my boyfriend are of minority race and it was a cold night so we both had our hoodies up but still.... I don't think we posed any threat? That just left a bad taste in our mouth. The guy with the larger forehead/receding hairline is the rudest person I've ever met. I just walked up to customer service with a big smile and said "Hi" and he goes "IDK WHO YOUR HERE FOR BUT IM NOT THE PERSON TO TALK TO" and I was so shocked like did you really just yell at me at 11am and all I said was hi? And I let him know I was confused because I was picking up a delivery but wasn't sure if I was the right place and he goes "WHO ARE YOU?!!! WHO ARE YOU?!!!" And I'm shocked like why are you yelling at me. Then he goes "WHO WRE YOU WITH" and directs me to the pickup online orders. You just opened, if your in a bad mood and can't hold it together go home. I've worked years in customer service and have never taken out a bad mood onto a customer. But the women who helped me at pickup, Dariela or something similar to that, she was a young Latina women was so kind, calmed me down and apologized for his behavior.
