Having been a long time BevMo fan, I have yet to find anything that a compares until I went to Total Wine. YIKES!!! Since I only drink on special occasions, wink wink, I had to pick up a few things for XMAS gifts, and being in the area, I wanted to check out this new store. Anything and everything I could needed or wanted, was offered. Wines, you name it, Spirits, any type any variation, Cigars, the humidor was bigger than my garage. It was a good thing I was on a short time budget, otherwise I would still be in there shopping. Can't say I will go out of may way to go here instead of BevMo just to save a $1 or 2, but anytime I am in the area, I will definitely stock up. read more

I was fairly surprised about this store! My friend recommended that I try this place because it's so close and because of the good deals. I was in the area so I decided to stop by. WOW.. I was surprised and loved everything about this store- the prices are cheaper than BevMo! and it is really organized from beers, wines, and more. (Hence the name! HEH!) The employees are so nice and ask you if you need help with your selection if you look lost in the aisles. They have a HUGE selection of those mini alcoholic drinks.....LOVE! LOVE LOVE! I had always wondered what a Total Wine & More was like. This store... seriously overwhelmed me. I checked it out on Friday night, intending to buy a couple different kinds of Vodka and about 6 bottles of wine. I left with two bottles of Vodka, no wine. The store is huge, which is cool - but I really think it had too much for me. I was looking to spend around $20 on each bottle of wine, and what I saw was much more expensive... and then I saw one option that was about $5 a bottle. There were a couple employees walking around, but they all seemed to be running around in a hurry - I had asked one question and it was answered as the guy ran past me. Im sure this store is amazing to a lot of people, its just a bit too much for me. Also, the one bottle of Vodka I was really looking for - Smores Vodka by Three Olives, was $19. I wasnt able to find it at CVS or Ralphs, this was the first place I saw it, but that seemed really expensive. Im leaving my review right in the middle because while nothing horrible happened on my visit there, I just didnt love the store, service, etc. read more

Yes, Total Wine has a huge selection; that's expected of a big box store. Kind of like expecting the Toyota dealer or the dog pound to have a huge selection. Unfortunately each has a lot of pit bulls and Prius' that no one wants. Reasons to keep visiting Total Wine: --Great values on the Chilean, Argentinian and Spanish stuff. Some are sold for less at TW than in the countries from where they were produced. --Beers from Tusker to Hitachino Nest can be found. --Laphroaig is always available when your favorite uncle comes to town on short notice. However: --One worker didn't know where the Moosehead was located, or what it was. (See my Billy Beez/Anaheim review.) --Total Wine needs a better ordering system. Twice they didn't have a case of wine in stock; which was fine, so I put in an order both times. Both times this consisted of the employee writing my number on a sticky pad and leaving it on the counter and saying it will be delivered tomorrow. No call back (both times), so I paid a visit both times, only to find that the case was delivered, but it was on the sales floor with a few bottles sold. --Is there a way to keep cheap poltroons from buying only one bottle of beer out of a six pack, (perhaps it's a fear that funny foreign beer might taste funny), leaving a poor cashier to figure out what to charge for a 5-pack? --Also when ordering a case of vino (we entertain and it's bad form to arrive empty-handed to someone's shindig to which you've been invited), every time I've been upsold on other types of "similar" tasting stuff. Kind of like if you are used to a Suburban, then maybe you'll like a Landcruiser. Or if you have a Lab, maybe you'll like a giant fluffy poodle as your next dog. Nope. Doesn't work. --Total Wine got rid of the coupons; or more specifically the coupons tie in to some sort of Byzantine Winery Direct system. --Also they have a point system, but if you are a 2 beer a night guy, maybe your offspring will inherit the $10.00 off coupon from the points you've accumulated. read more

Five stars for Connor, who was extremely helpful, personable, and knowledgeable. Zero stars for the older gentleman at the "Customer Service" counter and two other "Customer Service" representatives at the same counter. Shopping day! Stopped in to grab a couple of favorites and...Tyler happened. First off- this store is clean. Well staffed and helpful. If they sense that you're browsing or looking for something specific they will check in and try and help you. Restrooms are clean, and available even during this odd covid time. At check out you can use a box made for bottles or even a wood crate (small cost for these...small) Which is a really cool option. So...went in to buy some favs and met Tyler. Not only is he helpful but he invited us to try a few samples that were on display. He walked my wife and I through the selections and gave us a few tastes. Yep! You read that correctly...we taste tested at total wine. It was safe too. We picked the little up, he just added some into it and then whammo! Taste on! We had our pallets stretched and picked up THREE of the selection we tried. Sooooo....if you want to treat yourself and a loved one to a special time...talk with Tyler and see what's happening there. I'm not sure if they do this all the time? I'm sure if you call and talk with this dude you're in. Good people and very kind. Plenty of parking - massive lot. My mom found out about this place somehow and took me there after indicating the prices on wine were great. I couldn't imagine that they were that much better than what one would find at BevMo, Costco, or a grocery store when on sale, but they really are. This is BevMo's selection with the cheapest prices you can find. They also have daily wine tastings for 10 cents a person (obviously they are just charging because they have to and they are really just exposing people to new wines). The wine selections are great, the reviews from some of the staff are not particularly helpful since wine is so subjective, but the prices are stellar. They also have hard alcohol (which I haven't bought so I can't say about the prices) and lots of beers. 12 packs of Negra Modelo are $12, 4 packs of Old Rasputin Imperial stout are $6 whereas they are $7 or $8 at BevMo, and they have all kinds of other beers in bulk or individual bottles. The selection is great. My advice with picking new wines would be to find out what the number one sellers are in any given category and try those. I.e. I'm not a big merlot guy, but the Oak Grove Merlot ($6) was going off the shelves like it was going out of style. I tried it and found it to be pretty amazing for a $6 merlot (again it's subjective, but if lots of people are liking it at least there is a better chance you might too). I always come here and stock up on Kendal Jackson Grand Reserve chards, Clos Du Bois chards, and try new things at the tastings. It's a great place. read more

I'm a hi-times devotee, but sometimes I just can't make the drive to Costa Mesa. And the beer selection here is damn good. I recommend the Maui Brewing Company Coconut Porter. It's to die for! It's a four pack. These guys do it right for a big chain. They have very convenient hours as well. If you're Jonesin for a late Sunday night bottle of wine, these guys are open til 10, so you can get something special. read more

This place is THE best! We used to be BevMo customers (although never feeling completely at ease there). Then, we discovered Total Wine in Florida, and how we wished it would come to Southern California. Our wish was granted, and we've been loyal to Total Wine since. Their 10-cent wine tastings are absolutely the greatest! Through those tastings, we've experienced numerous wines we never would've picked off the shelves on our own -- including spending much more than we've ever spent; what a difference it makes to be able to taste the wine first, and/or to meet the winery's owner or rep! We enrolled in a set --or 2-- of wine tasting classes which expanded our knowledge, made us more aware of our likes-and-dislikes, and increased our desire to drink --and buy-- more wines!! The classes, however, were best enjoyed based on who gave the class. The store has a nice set-up; one could go to a specific section to search wines with high ratings, by varietal, by staff or buyer recommendations, etc. To top it off, the staff is visible, approachable, knowledgeable, and very friendly (they don't make you feel incompetent or uncomfortable)!!! If your local costco doesn't have it for $45, and you aren't in the navy/army... this is probably going to be the cheapest you will ever find the infamous "elephant's foot" ...Oh yeah, a large selection of wines, liquor, champagne, beer, and other alcohols... though with Henn @ $64.99.. i don't see why what else you could want... The employees at this location went so above and beyond, I was asking a lot of questions because I was buying gifts for family members and I was met with the sweetest, most kind help from a girl in the sparkling wines section and to top it off, the cashier was an absolute sweetheart. I wanted to call the store and tell them about how much their employees made my day. I didn't get the two young ladies' names but OMG, good customer service makes such a huge difference and the two that helped me had the BEST customer service skills!!! Great place to get gift sets and other trinkets. That's what I personally like this place for though of course you can get a much wider variety of your alcohol favorites here as well. Still to this day, Total Wine is my grotto! Total wine is the place where you would go to find any kind of alcoholic drink for cheaper! Compare to the grocery store, the liquor store, or even Beverages and More, Total Wine will always beat any price by a couple of dollars or even a large amount of dollars! THEYVE CONVERTED ME!!! i have since shared with everyone i know how amazing total wine & more is. literally a dream. i came here for ONE reason and one reason only... to buy my favorite stella rosa black wine... at Ralphs its usually a little under $20, at bevmo around $14.... I've visited many times, and they've never failed to have what I'm craving :-) I'm a California Cabernet gal, and the variety of big, bold California cabs they have here is excellent! This is actually a nice spot and the size of the place is great. It has a solid selection, much larger than the Bev-mo I would frequently buy booze from. I really can't speak on the customer service, I generally know what I want before even going in the door, so unless I'm aware of anything specific on sale, I don't really require assistance. The place is tidy, the aisles are spacious, and I had no trouble finding anything. It's not the best deal at times but there's plenty of items in stock and you can order in advanced if you have a party. You can also have your empty bottles recycled here if you're into the whole saving the planet thing, I'm more into christening random boats when I'm on a good one. Oh and I would recommend something to the store, you should consider having special paper bags for some of the bottles. The law about bags was more intended for all those plastic bags floating around, so I guess it was designed to avoid littering or probably animals choking on them or some other nonsense. I only mention it because roaming around with a bottle in the shopping center or transporting alcohol in a vehicle can get awkward at times, otherwise I'll simply bring a bag from home or pay the 10 cents. read more

This is one of the bigger and better stocked Total Wines in Orange County. They have a good wine selection. The staff is very knowledgeable when it comes to wine and spirits. The French wine tasting class was also fun. The craft beer selection is heavy on the California/West Coast breweries, which makes sense given that we're in California. However, I wish the store stocked more varieties of East Coast brews. I asked a couple members if they carried any Northeastern style or juicy IPAs and got some blank stares. I tried describing the flavor profile I was looking for, but didn't have much luck. read more

I'm updating this because in the years since I wrote my original review, the service and selection continues to be exemplary. I've gone and been offered wine sampling, which has been a fun way to try new wines. I'm not a wine expert, so I'm always open to suggestions when looking for wines for events and parties...and they've never steered me wrong yet. And there are always new whiskies and beers coming in to add to their extensive collection, and there's always someone there to share a valued opinion on what to try. Total Wine & More is truly the best beer, wine and spirits store that I've ever visited. 4 stars are not enough - I have to give them the 5 stars they deserve. Bravo! read more

Total Wine Tustin wow. I understand it's close to the holidays with that being said take some responsability. I went out of my way 1 hour drive to do there car store pick up. They are the ones that had Cream Rum since we could not travel. I went to gift it, and they gave me someone else's order? The manager Juanita oh boy how ( helpful) blaming being short staffed blaming me for not looking at my order. I didn't know it was my responsability to check my order put in the trunk by your employees. Juanita resolution drive down an hour to fix the problem. I told her no my sister lives closer about 30m away can you please just replace it. She did me the favor of this once replacing her mistake. Guess what my sister drives 30 minutes they are clueless of the situation. Horrible Experience all around. If you do order pick up check your order. They aren't trained on this. read more

This total wine has me wishing I could leave zero stars. After a great night out at a restaurant, my girlfriend and I came to total wine to buy a 4 pack of beer like we usually do. We spent 10 minutes looking at the selection before we finally made our decision. Once at the register, the manger graciously noticed the line was long and opened a new lane. After greeting each other he asked for my id which I gladly presented. My girlfriend did not have hers and offered to show him a picture or her passport (she is 28 for context). He refused to sell us our 4 pack due to their ludicrous policy which wasn't even the worst part. I understood and said in that case, I'll drop her off and come back to buy it myself if it's truly that big of an issue. He exclaimed he would no longer be able to sell it to me even with her not present. I have no clue why this would be the case as she's 28 and would no longer even be present!! I have never had a negative experience with any total wine before, but this location is the exception. Avoid this location and it's manager like the plague. Drive to a location with a manager that respects the customers. read more

This place is so lame. We tried to buy some cheese balls and mineral water BOTH NON-ALCOHOLIC and my husband forgot his ID (we are both in our early 30s, mind you), I get up to the registers to pay and they tell us we both need IDs... So I give them mine and explain that my husband forgot his ID but we are not buying any alcohol. The girl gets a manager and she tells us she can't sell us cheese balls or mineral water without both of us having ID. We ask if my husband leaves, if I can just pay, and they say no because he was helping me carry the merchandise. That makes no sense. I'm not buying any alcohol. So i see a dad with a 5 yr old daughter in the store, so she's gonna get carded too or they will refuse to do business with him too? I'm taking my business elsewhere from now on and if i want alcohol i'm going to BevMo! Don't come here, they treat u like criminals! read more

This place completely blows BevMo out of the water. Even though BevMo is literally walking distance from my house, I'd rather venture out a couple more miles to Total Wine because 1 - Selection is MUCH larger and the layout of the store is perfectly organized. (there's even a store map so you can look up which aisle u need to hit up without getting lost) I don't know too much about the wine, but they have TONS of choices for beer 2 - Prices are the lowest I've seen, and no membership is needed. (6-pack of Hef was 5.99?!) 3 - Total Wine closes at 10pm, an hour later than BevMo's unreasonable 9pm, which is an obvious plus when it comes to late night drinking :) They also have wine classes and apparently build your own 6-packs?! I was not aware of this, but I will have to do that sometime soon. Also, wine tastings for a dime.. what else am I missing? Ok before I keep going on and sound like an advertisement for this place, I just know that I absolutely love this store and love that it's minutes away from me. LOVE LOVE LOVE. that is all read more

Eyes WIDE open! You want wine, beer, grappa, cognac, brandy, vodka, sherry and more? No whining here, they probably have it! Hubby wanted sipping rum and called customer service here to help him. The man who arrived asked a few questions and stated that R.L. Seale's - Finest Barbados Rum - is the best, period. OMG! He was right on the money! Excellent rum for $21.99 - great price and great suggestion! I decided on a Martin Ray Chardonnay Russian River Valley 2010, rated 92 by Wine Spectator. For $13.99 a bottle, not bad! Saw and snatched a botle of Adriaen Browner Dark beer for $7.99 - can't wait to try this. Well marked aisles making this an easy place to manuever, hunt, seek and find. Little disappointed that they did not have the cognac I bought previously from another well know OC wine and spirits store. But, they did have others that made me want to say hmmmm... Wine tasting and classes are available. Snacks galore, at least in my book. I am not a true snacker... Great customer service and I will be back! read more

I love coming to this big box store... It really is a great chain... Hell this really is a great location. So many types of yummy adult beverages. The munchkin hates coming with me for daddy drinks and daddy juice though... too bad for her =X So when I came in, I was able to talk with Ellery at length about their selection of bourbon, rye, shine, scotch, etc... He helped me to find a few bottles of things that I hadn't tried and also that I liked but I hadn't had all that often. Consequently I was able to procure some delicious libations. They honestly have a great selection of beer and spirits... and an outstanding selection of grape juice. Too bad I dont care about the winos though =P These bottles come in all shapes and sizes but most are 750mls for the wine/hard alcohol. They have a few handles and a few fifths as well as a bunch of those mini bottles. Heck they even have a few other snacks in here too boot... The beer section is on of my favorite things as you can buy some things by the bottle and others as mix n match or regular 6packs. Too bad drinking a 6 pack gives you a party ball instead of a 6pack =\ Ohhh well the craft and international selection definitely makes me very happy here. I also like that they have the price matching set up so they can and will match Costco or anyone else... LOVE THIS STORE! Definitely not just wine here! You can get hard liquor, beer of all kinds, mixers, snacks, etc! Service is great and I love how everything is organized. Last time I came here to pick up some wine and ended up partaking in the wine tasting in back. Not sure if they have it everyday but for sure every weekend. If there is a beer you are looking for there's a pretty good chance they will have it. It gets pretty overwhelming looking through the aisles but you can always as for help.
