The poor reviews here are laughable at best. My husband and I both work in customer service where we SAVE LIVES for a living. We know what it's like to feel under appreciated and over worked. I don't have any words to thank the team enough at Town Fair Tire in Avon. Tommy was truly exceptional. From the second I walked in, he had a smile on his face. He was kind and helpful. It's amazing what a friendly face can do. I dropped the car off and he said it would be about two hours for snow tire change and an alignment. And hour and 45 min later I got the call and picked the car up. Simple, seamless service. This team deserves all the credit in the world for how hard they work. I stopped in at the Avon location recently to get a quote on new tires for my X-Terra. The guys in the shop were beyond rude to me! The tires were a 50th BD present from my mother, and I wasnt even paying for them myself, but there is NO WAY I would buy tires at this place! I am in sales myself, and the 1st rule of sales is... People Buy Things From People They Like...Period!! I happened to be in Rocky Hill the very same day, and ended up getting tires at that location, and the store manager and staff were beyond amazing!! read more

The only thing they do is tires...and they somehow managed to screw it up. I called, they assured me they had the specific tire and it would be in stock. I booked an appointment and kept the meat of my Saturday open to stop in, then guess what, they were out of stock of it. They then tried to convince me that driving around for 3 more days on a donut would be a "safe" idea. Get tire, hold tire, put on tire. Over 32 years I have purchased almost 18 complete sets of tires from this store. The last few years they have really dropped the ball numerous times. Two summers ago I was three days away from vacation and was looking for tires, they always try to push you into tires that they have exclusives distribution on or brands that they have and that Tire Rack does not sell so they can stop you from price checking. I agreed to a set of 4 Michelin tires and came back for my appointment the afternoon prior to the vacation. When I arrived the Michelins were not there as "they must have shipped them to another store but we have these other no-name tires that are just as good for a lower price". I walked away. Then last week I brought in my Audi to get a wheel replaced and was told by the advisor that the tire was wrecked and I needed 4 new tires at a cost of $932.00 They did not have time to do it then so by chance I brought the tire to the local tire store and was told that my tire was fine to drive for another 10,000 miles. I paid the $19.99 bill and it was fixed in 10 minutes! They are always rude when you price shop their quotes and I do not need the aggravation. read more

This place has absolutely horrible customer service. I called to schedule a tire change for my car. The phone line was busy for a very long time before I was able to get through. When I finally did get through I explained what I needed and was put on hold. Ten minutes later someone else answered and I once again explained what I needed. I was put on hold again and after explaining for a third time what I needed, I took an appointment in the mid afternoon of the next day. Left work early the day of my appointment and got there only to find out that no one actually scheduled an appointment. Not only that, but they weren't even willing to accommodate me even though the mistake was on their end. They have lost my business entirely since they can't even figure out basic customer service to get people in the door. read more

I've been shopping at Town Fair for several years and they have really gone downhill in the past few years. In the fall I ordered a set of four winter tires with a set of new rims. They told me that the rims would be in in a week. When I showed up I was told that it would be about a 90 minute wait. 90 minutes became 7 hours. To make matters worse at the end of 7 hours I was told that the rims that had come in didn't fit. We agreed that the best thing to do was to put the winter tires on the old rims and get new rims for my summer tires when I switched back in the spring. In the spring I called two weeks ahead and was told that the correct rims were in. I made an appointment. However when I arrived I was told that the rims were accidentally sent elsewhere the day before. Everyone I spoke to tried covering their ass and I had to go back at a later time to get the work done. I no longer trust the people who work here, what they say or even the work they do. read more

Had an appointment for four new wheels and tires at Town Fair Tire in Avon, CT. Got there and waited almost two hours before they realized that they had ordered the wrong size rims. I then had to reschedule my appointment and babysitter for two days later. Went to the new appointment, waited another 2.5 hours, got the new tires and rims, and immediately noticed that one of the rims was severely dented and scratched. At this point I contacted my credit card company, who recommended I dispute/withhold the charge until it was resolved. I called town fair tire several times since that day to schedule to come in for a third time and have the damaged rim replaced. The day of my new appointment, I called beforehand to ensure they had my new rim in stock, and the manager proceeded to tell me I was holding him hostage by starting a dispute and that he would call the police because I "stole" from them. I told him that I just wanted the issue fixed, and that I was willing to come in a third time, and that if he communicated with the credit card company, they would release the funds once the issue was resolved. He insisted I was holding him "hostage". I ended up coming in to have it fixed and cancelled the dispute myself, but I have never dealt with someone in the automotive industry so unprofessional, and the fact that he threatened to call the police left a horrible impression. Will not return to town fair tire, and will reccomend that friends and family stay away. read more

I went to the one in new britain because I got a flat in that area and they were amazing and took care of me but the tech that does the alignments wasn't there because it was close to closing so they set up and appointment for me at the town fair tire in Avon to get the alignment because that's the one I'm closest to and what a huge difference in customer service. They were extremely rude and had crazy wait times. In new britain they had to get the tires because they didn't even have them in store, they put them on and we're done with my car within 2 hours! Then I come to Avon for just an alignment and we're waiting the same amount of time. Get it together avon! read more

Warning! Appointment times mean nothing - be prepared to wait and wait and wait regardless. Remind me what the purpose is of setting up an appointment with this Town Fair when it clearly doesn't matter or make much of a difference when 50 minutes later my car is still sitting exactly where I parked it - this is for a very simple snow tire swap (mind you they convinced me to purchase wheels for my snow tires to make the swap super easy and... fast). Upon asking why it's taking so long an employee informed me there is a vast disconnect with booking appointments with the reality on the ground. I think Town Fair needs to get more accurate on reservations. Update: they ended up helping me out with some wheel lock issues - workers seemed courteous but I think town fair needs to still become more accurate with appointments. read more

I've been searching for tires for my car, and after researching online stores, and a few local businesses, including the large "club" stores, decided on Town Fair Tire. Initially their price, after mounting, balancing, etc, was about $130 more than I had found elsewhere, but while I was talking to one of their call center tire experts, who told me they'd meet or beat the lowest price I could find, I decided to buy from them. The tires were ordered directly from the call center and delivered to the Avon store. They were supposed to set up an appointment to mount the tires, but somehow that fell through the cracks. However, I did get in today, which was when my appointment was supposed to be, even earlier than my originally scheduled appointment. After showing screen photos from the less expensive store, the manager immediately recomputed my cost, and it came out a few bucks lower. The work was done professionally and very expeditiously, taking less than an hour. I couldn't be happier with the service I was given. As well, their waiting area was quiet, comfortable and had some drinks and snacks (for sale) available. read more

Been going here for years...it's convenient, and predictable. Generally they want to rebalance and align the tires (+$100) whether you need it or not on a snow tire change over or rotation ($0 service if you for go the balancing and alignment if tires were purchased from TTF) and if you know anything at all about tread wear and keeping tire pressures up to snuff it's not usually necessary. Flat fixes are free too. Free is good, and you can't blame a salesman for selling something you may or may not need. Do your homework, do your shopping on line, and decide what you want before a tire purchase. This is something I do for anything, thanks to the Internet. These guys will usually beat anything you present to them, and will generally do a good job. They are human, and should be treated the way you would want to be treated. I've seen too many snooty customers talk rudely at these guys at the desk and was impressed with the level of crap they tolerate. The guys in the shop are great. read more

WORST EXPERIENCE EVER. Town Fair consistently pays their salesman on commission. Last visit we had a salesman purposefully try and scare me and my wife in to buying new tires and a handful of services. We left right away and brought the car to a ASE certified master mechanic and he laughed and told us that happens all the time and that our tires were going to be good for at least another two years. On the 3rd call, I stated that I have been waiting for a response for a 1/2 hour- was told I would be speaking to a Sales Rep immediately. Good prices for their house brand generic tires. The sales reps here are a different story. They were very rude, rather under trained, and were good at purposely trying to make you feel stupid in front of other customers to try and sell you services. The sales men work on heavy commission so who would blame them. Tires were what I expected. Mis installed though. The different colored dots on the side of the tire actually mean something. I scheduled an appointment at Town Fair Tire and picked out the tires I wanted online. Upon arrival, the salesman took me out to my car and immediately tried to upsell me before even asking about my commute, etc. I told him to stick with the tires we ordered in. After an hour, there were four replacement tires on the car, an alignment and wheel balance were done. But, two of the 'new' tired were five years old (within one year of expiring), one was four years old, and one was two years old. I told the staff this was unacceptable. They said they would order in four new tires, and I would have to come back. They then showed us a printout telling us that the alignment was off, but that they fixed it. Except the paperwork they gave me was for a 2014 Cadillac that was done at 9:44 that morning. I have a 2007 Toyota Highlander and didn't get to the shop until 10 a.m. They scrambled to print out my paperwork. On my drive home, the tire pressure indicator light on my console turned on. Upon getting home, I checked the tire pressure in all tires with my gauge, and all checked out. I did some googling, and found out that the staff never reset the system, so I did it myself. On returning to Town Fair Tire, they had four tires stamped 1117, much better. But, an hour and a half later, they called me up and told me that their alignment machine said I had a seized toe that would need to be fixed. I asked, 'How could it seize in two days?' Clearly no one remembered me from two days earlier. I pulled out my paperwork from Saturday. The two men helping me looked at each other dumbfounded, and then said the rack probably needed to be calibrated. I told them that I needed to know if my car had an issue or not - which rack was wrong? I needed a visual inspection. They said they would put the car back on the other rack and check. They did, and ten minutes later they gave me a new print out 'all in the green.' I asked them how could I trust that that machine wasn't miscalibrated? They told me I had their word everything was fine. Either they gave me a false report the first time, OR every single other car that was serviced using that rack since the last calibration was also at risk of being wrong. I doubt they contacted those folks to let them know though. Suffice to say I will never return to Town Fair Tire again. read more

I had a great experience when I came into the store and met with Angel to negotiate a price on four new Michelin tires. I came in looking for a particular tire which was on sale at Costco, and Town Fair Tire price-matched it. I also spared myself the extra hassle that buying tires at Costco can entail: having tires mounted at Costco, and then having to go elsewhere to have them aligned. Town Fire Tire did it all. In addition, I felt Angel provided a level of service that I haven't seen for a while: he answered all my questions completely and without the sort of jargon that impedes communication. Replaced wheels, tires & tire pressure monitoring sensors. Incorrect size tires ordered & mounted. Vehicle immediately was not stable / safe to drive. When "replacement tires" were mounted I requested confirmation tire pressure sensors were properly installed. One of four is not functional. One visit to order wheels, tires etc., three visits to have SKU's mounted, issues corrected, two visits to dealer service department for diagnostics (TF could not / would not diagnose problem with first set of replacement tires). The $$$ I may have "saved" was not worth this poor level of service and vehicle safety issues. read more

Bought two front replacement tires about seven months ago from Waterbury Town Fair Tire, a bubble appeared on front sidewall of one while the other continuously leaked air. Luis acted as if he had no patience for the customer, was condescending and refused to budge on helping me with any type of customer service or customer satisfaction, or even the a simple discount for a long term customer. Luis said I had to pay full price to replace the tires, even though it has only been 6-7 months since purchase and one had a bubble on the side and the other has leaked air since installation, even though i brought it back twice to be fixed. I have spent thousands, literally thousands of dollars over the years at Town Fair Tire and after this experience with Luis, I will never spend another penny there. If this is how they treat their long term customers, they are not going to have long term customers very long. Hey Luis and the rest of the sales staff, how bout a little courtesy, kindness, respect and a little old genuine customer service, care and satisfaction, instead of the rude, nasty, condescending attitude I received today !! read more

After 35 years, it may be time for a change. When I bought a set of tires 2 years ago, I got some strange treatment but thought maybe I got a good deal - I don't know. First tire chosen was out of stock. Second choice, I waited 1 and 1/2 hours for my tires to be installed and they came back and said computer error tire not in stock. They said first choice tires would be delivered by 2 pm tomorrow. Came back next day at 2 and tires were not on delivery truck. They made me a deal on my 3rd choice tires and installed them. I thought I was getting a good deal, but in retrospect maybe I was just steered to what they wanted to sell or actually had in stock. Most recent experience: they advertise free rotation for life of tires, but when I called they said bring it in first thing any morning, leave the car, and we may be able to get to it. No, we can't give you an appointment and no, don't come in and wait. It seems they really don't want to be bothered with rotations and snow tire change overs (no revenue). This seems to be borne out by other reviews as well. If you are using the offer of free lifetime rotation or snow tire change overs as a reason to buy from them, think again. Not sure if this is a chainwide issue or just the Avon store. read more

Not happy. Purchased snow tires last year, good price. And the big draw --- we'll put them on for free. Except one minor detail -- you have to drop your car off and pick up at the end of the business day. When you only have one car, one driver, you are stuck sitting there all day or you have to impose on someone else to pick you up, take you home, take you back. And was told "that's the way it is." So, if you have the luxury of having a two car family, go for it, if not, go some place else. This should be told when you purchase your snow tires when they are mounted back for free, free means at our convenience, not the customer's. read more

TownFair Tire sucks! The do NOT honor their warrantee. They did not have the tires recommended for our car and sold us Mastercraft, which wore out 20,000 miles before the warrantee (that means they only lasted ) Now they say I need proof I rotated, but would not call Midas to ask them the rotation dates, or even look up in their own computer system. I ordered tires for my Silverado on their website using their tire selection tool. After receiving an email confirming my order as well as a text to confirm my appointment, I went to drop my truck off. The Associate told me that the tires were the wrong load rating and I needed 10 ply tires. He then told me that each tire would be $50 more and did not apologize for the error on the functionality of the website. I asked for an adjustment of the price due to the website saying the tires I ordered were for my truck, and he declined any type of adjustment. I ended up leaving with no apology for the inconvenience nor a feeling that the Associate (Assistant Manager) cared about helping find a win-win. They just lost a $900-$1,000 sale and I will not be back. This was my first experience with Town Fair Tire, and based off of the Assistant Manager's handling of the situation, it will be my last. read more
