Some friends and I stopped here for brunch last weekend. I love TOWN and its sister restaurants, so of course we had a great experience! The food and drinks are always great here. My friend and I split the chicken and waffles and side of fruit, our other friend had the loco moco, and our other friend had a salad. Everyone loved their food! Town has been on the list for a while and finally got a chance to try it recently. San Carlos is a good location if you are trying to meet someone midway between SF and the South Bay. Came here right at opening for lunch and had a fantastic time! I love their patio space - it's shaded, spacious, and it was beautiful weather to enjoy dining outside. Service was incredibly friendly and warm! Our server was attentive, never made us feel rushed, and happily helped us when we asked him to take a picture for us. I got the New Orleans BBQ Shrimp and it was amazing, wow. It is an appetizer that I ate as an entree, so don't expect a massive plate, but if you're not too hungry, this is what you should get. Saucy, creamy, and flavorful! The sourdough bread is so good but then you soak it in the sauce and it's just *chefs kiss* Not too spicy and the shrimps are already peeled for you! Huge points there because I wasn't really in the mood to get my hands all saucy but they're already thinking a step ahead. The restaurant itself is mid-sized with plenty of seating, giving off that classic upscale vibe you'd see in old-school movies. Came here for brunch on a Saturday. The weather was so nice, so we sat outside. It had a great ambiance. It didn't feel or look dirty as some outdoor seating areas may have. My friend and I both ordered the Dungeness Crab Benedict. It was so good! They used real crab and were generous with the amount of crab. The egg was cooked just right. The breakfast potatoes were delicious as well! Everything was definitely filling! My friend highly recommended to get the bread pudding for dessert, so we did! It was soooo yummy! The garlic bread was so moist juicy filled with flavor and the brussels sprouts came extra crispy delicious sweet flavor. The ambience is so cute. I love the outdoor seating vibe, especially with the outdoor heaters. My friend's wild mushroom risotto was a little salty, but management was so nice and offered to replace it. 3.5 stars for a decent brunch with wonderful service, mostly good food, and pleasing atmosphere. First thing first, our service was exceptional. Our waiter was extremely friendly, attentive, and to the point. Have nothing but praises. The rest of the experience, however, was less than stellar. The food was a hit and miss. Some dishes were pleasantly surprising but others were extremely mediocre. There wasn't anything really bad but nothing outstanding either. For example, the garlic bread was good but the benedict was just ok; the rest was more of the same. The place has been around forever so it's a bit of a staple for San Carlos; that also means the atmosphere is nice and has a steakhouse feel but it's also a bit outdated. I've always wanted to try this upscale restaurant in Downtown San Carlos but just never got to it. That is until last week. A friend and I spontaneously decided to treat ourselves and boy am I sure glad we came here. It's been a while since I've ordered a restaurant steak preferring to buy and grill my own as of late. This is a go to dinner/happy hour spot in San Carlos for my coworkers and I. No reservations but weekday happy hour we always find a table. All the apps are really good and I know most people order one of the steaks but since I'm not supper into steak I used to get the short ribs when they had it and recently got their roast chicken which was really good. I ordered the Chilaquiles and my husband got the Loco Moco. I ate half of mine and he ate the rest. I thought mine was delic and he agreed! Town is always packed every night for good reason! Everything bartenders, great food, featuring various types of steak and a great side order menu where each state comes with two sides. The weight staff is knowledgeable about the menu items as well as their alcoholic offerings and wine. The servers are on top of the tables, you never feel like they have just abandoned you there. Where do I even begin? This place might be fine for drinks and appetizers, but our experience during my sister's birthday dinner was disappointing. The entire meal took three hours, and they were clearly overwhelmed and understaffed. The appetizers arrived before our drinks, and it was another 45 minutes before our main courses came out. One of us ordered a medium-rare steak, but it was overcooked and inedible. Our server was fantastic and apologized, assuring us that a replacement wouldn't take another 45 minutes--and to their credit, they delivered a new steak within 20 minutes. While they did make an effort to fix things, the overall experience wasn't great. With so many other dining options available, I don't think we'll be returning for a full meal here anytime soon. read more

Came here with a group of 7 for a company holiday luncheon on this past Tuesday at 11:45. The place was already jumping but we got seated quickly. It was tight in the booth but it was too cold outside for a larger table. Staff were spot on and attentive. Food was fabulous, bought three appetizers, they came out quickly and we were not rushed with entrees arriving at the table. Food was very tasty. I had the baseball Filet Steak cooked perfectly but just a little over seasoned with salt for me. I'm salt sensitive. Others would probably say it was 5/5. I haven't been to Town for dinner in a while. I had dinner there with a few friends on Monday night and I was shocked at how busy they are! We grabbed a drink at the bar while we waited for our table. Before the bartender could make our drinks, our table is ready! We had BBQ shrimps as appetizer - 5/5. I ordered the poke bowl which is the perfect serving size for me. I love all the veggies and sashimi. I'll ask them to put the sauce on the side next time. I got the Teriyaki Skirt steak and the steak was cooked perfectly well where it literally cut like butter. The skirt steak was wrapping my pile of mash potatoes and it was fantastic. I had the Daou Reserve to wash it down and god damn $20 a glass but it was good I guess. I just got it because it was work comped hahaha. Depending on when you come the wait can be long, so I advise reservations for dinner and come early for brunch. The location is right on Laurel Street so you're right in the hear of all the downtown San Carlos buzz and it's usually a fun crown. The food is always on point. While I've never had my favorite of anything here, I also have never not like anything so that goes a long a way. Fun for a night out with friends or to celebrate an occasion. Heater got a little too warm after a while, but I guess it kind of kept the food warm longer. We tried 3 different kinds of steak, baseball cut fillet, New York steak and wagyu flank steak. Each dish comes with two sides. I got the brussels sprouts and garlic green beans. Brussels sprouts were crunchy with a tint of lemon taste and green beans were fresh. The New York steak should be medium but was overcooked, but they were so amazing and offered us to remake it. For dessert, we shared the brownie, it was nice and warm with a scoop of ice cream. The sangria was okay but a little blend. Overall, my favorite steak out of the three we tried was the baseball cut. It's juicier and tender. read more

One of my best friends lives nearby here and she said this place is always packed so we figured since we wanted something like to eat we could check out their appetizers and it was pouring this particular Saturday night so luckily there wasn't a line and we were seated as soon as we walked in. We came to Town because of the good Yelp reviews and the food sounded like the type of food we were wanting. We had a couple of drinks and garlic bread which was wonderful then ordered our dinner. My wife had a filet and I ordered the ribeye. Outside the steaks being salty for our taste, everything was good. My dissatisfaction arrived with the bill. The steaks stated they came with two sides and under the section headed Sides were listed both the wedge salad and the baked potato we both ordered. When the bill arrived there was a $7.00 charge for each baked potato. In addition, the bill included a 3.25% charge on the entire bill that was titled "State Mandated 3.25%". I live in California as well and know there is no state mandate to add 3.25% to the bill. I asked to speak to a manager and he wasn't able to tell me it was state mandated and eventually admitted it was for employee benefits. The potato charge was on the menu but you had to read to the end of the description below the baked potato to see the fine print for the extra charge. If the baked potato wasn't one of the included sides, it shouldn't have been in the "Side" section. I don't like being taken advantage of which I believe they are doing to everyone who dines here. I paid $74.00 for my steak and my wife's was $59. I didn't complain about the price and if they wanted a few dollars more so they could afford to pay their employees, they could have made the price whatever they wanted since they print the menu. With the correct price on the menu I could have made my decision based on the price. I am a fair person but don't tolerate being lied to and I think restaurants should be honest and transparent about their charges, this restaurant is neither. read more

We waited for about 50 min for the first available table. We were seated outdoor. Though the heater was on, I felt a bit cold. Winter is here. We had their warm Napa cabbage (sort of a staple here), their steak with green beans and fully loaded potatoes, a warm bread pudding. We had a bottle of a Cabernet. It was alright. Food was okay. My friend ordered medium well. We would appreciate a little more pink in the middle. Overall, it was a good dinner catching up with friends.
