So I'm taking my 4Runner in for service this week. The reason I'm choosing this place is because of Yelp, which is my go to site for honest opinions and information. I like that the shop responds to users on Yelp which tells me they have an interest in their public perception. I'm giving them a good review based on my initial impression and the conversation I had with the gentleman that answered the phone and took my inquiry. Most places just want to get you in the door and see what they can take you for. He asked pertinent questions and told me they would diagnose the issue and call me with recommendations. I'm from Mass. so I'm accustom to crappy attitudes, but these guys seem to be on the level, at least according to their other reviews and my phone conversation. I'm a big fan of winning business over the phone and the guy I spoke with seemed genuinely interested in my truck and what the issue was. They were accommodating with my drop off schedule which is huge since I needed to arrange transportation to and from the place. Based on the comments back from the shop, I would stay far away from here- it is rather contradictory to say in the comments that they didn't have a lot of recommendations when I walked out of there with a list a mile long from the mechanic of recommendations- like spark plug replacement. I've had my share of bad mechanics throughout Denver and finding one I can trust who also operates near my home or work takes time to pin down. This is the one place that I find myself going back to despite living across town. They are centrally located, just off of I-25, so it's never a problem to drop my car off and walk to the lightrail station or run errands on Broadway. Paul is very knowledgeable and makes sure that his mechanics do the job right. I've also found that their prices are reasonable and they are always willing to work with you and make suggestions if you're on a tight budget. On the plus side, I've never felt like they are just making a bigger list and trying to empty my wallet. They do the work they say they are going to do. The shop and front desk area is clean and organized. The bill is always itemized and easy to understand with future recommendations. They also send out a mailer reminding you when factory required service is due. It's a well-run local business and I recommend them especially if you own a Honda, Toyota, or other Japanese import. read more

Had a timing belt done on my Tundra 2 weeks ago. Price was right in line with other shops, but chose Toyexus because of high YELP rating. The timing belt was replaced along with a lot of other parts recommended by the service writer. I chose to have all these replaced, including a thermostat, because if anything goes wrong with any of these parts, the belt would have to be taken off again.....negating any savings by not replacing the part, in the first place. I have done this job myself, on other cars, in the past and know the ins-and-outs. A Tundra (4.7L v8) is complicated, requires specialized tools, and deemed too tough for a do-it-yourselfer, IMHO. On this job they were perfect....the Tundra purrs like a kitten. I only gave 4 stars because the service writer would not flush my auto. transmission....he would only drain and fill, which I could have done myself. I talked at length about this with him and he felt that at 95,000 miles, there was a possibility of something breaking loose with a flush, causing problems down the road. I changed the fluid myself at 55K, and have had no issues with the transmission. But the service writer refused to flush, but did drain and fill for under a $100....a good deal. A transmission guy, and Stevinson Toyota, recommend a flush at 100K. Toyexus seems way to conservative with their decision, which, to me, does not make a whole lot of sense....now I must drain and fill the trans., with no flush, for the life of the trans. now. I would recommend these guys otherwise. read more

No matter how educated you may be, you really can be at the mercy of an auto shop because when it comes tom the inner workings of my car, I am pretty clueless. Here's where the good people/ bad people analogy comes into play. Trust is a big thing with all of us. That's why we are all on Yelp. I have been going there for years. They are kind and courteous, knowledgable about their field and always seem to offer the best prices. I do call around to other shops, compare prices / warranties. Why the heck would anyone go to the Toyota dealer for service that is the exact same, by mechanics that have the same training (and probably less experience) if it is not for the coffee? I took my 2000 Lexus GS 400 to Toyexus when it failed to start and both headlights didnt work. They advised that it was an alternator ($500) and ballast assembly for the lights ($2300 total for both lights). I had them replace the alternator and then went to Pro Auto Care to get a competing bid on the lights. Pro Auto Care just called and said the lights issue was a loose wire that they fixed and it is now working. Toyexus has good customer service, but I question their analysis capabilities and now I also question the alternator. read more

I've been to many repair shops and most of them have been horrible. I don't trust many mechanics because of past experiences and was hesitant when I walked in a year ago. These folks are great and always take great care of my car. I am in the process of looking for a new car and they talked to me about my choices and which ones were the easiest to maintain. But I always end up leaving wondering what was actually accomplished and feeling as though my car and I were just a number. I went here because it is closer than the Toyota dealerships, and I had read great reviews about how personable, reliable and honest Paul and his staff are. I was not disappointed. From Sean at the front desk to Brad the mechanic working on my car to Paul, I was informed about everything going on, including a comparison of the condition of my air filter to a new one (yikes), and a little lesson on where to put all the fluids and what needed more topping than others, I was left with more knowledge and an understanding of what was done and what my car could use from there on out. I was given a list of what needed more work and which items were most pressing, but was not uncomfortably prodded about doing it then and there. I had a 90,000 mile check up done and asked them to check the brakes. I was told that the back set had several more thousands of miles to go, but, because I had been in an accident recently I asked them to fix those. 3,500 miles later I am told by the Toyota dealership (where warranty work done) that I needed the front brakes fixed. Why wasn't mentioned at this shop?? I've been there multiple times for oil changes and always felt pressured to fix something and I can't shake the feeling that it's because I am a woman. read more

I have been using Toyexus for a number of years for service on my Honda Civic, and every time I go there I am pleasantly surprised. They never do more than is needed, and are always friendly and honest Most recently, I had my brakes worked on. I was expecting to replace all pads and such, all around. However, they inspected the rear drums and noticed there was still plenty of pad left, so they simply cleaned and adjusted the rear brakes. They could have very easily replaced them all, and charged me accordingly, but the did not. Thank you Paul and your crew. read more

Our car had a total engine replacement after going in for something that we expected to be much smaller, so the wait and cost was a lot longer than originally planned. To add to the frustration, the new engine wasn't working just right so they replaced it again before we got the car back. We have been taking our cars to Toyexus since before our kids were born. Our kids now have cars of their own and are taking their cars to Toyexus too. These guys have been super honest with us and have always done the job right the first time. This has been over 20(!) years now. I was worried about who would take over when Paul leaves but David is almost as good as Paul (not saying he is bad or anything, just need to get used to him) he is also a straight shooter and great guy to deal with. I was extremely satisfied with the friendliness of the staff from the time I first called to schedule an appointment to have my car checked out (2008 Toyota RAV4), to when I dropped it off, to when I picked it up. The estimate was lower that two others I received, which seemed more fair based on my research. They also went ahead and did some other maintenance while they were in there and gave me a discount on that, so the total was only slightly above the quote. I'm undecided if I was taken for a ride or if this business thinks I am made out of money? I took my 1999 Honda Accord Ex V6 in because the "Check Engine" light was on after I reset it via instructions on a YouTube video, but it came on again so I figured it must be something that needs fixing. I also felt the AC was not as cold as it could be so figured I needed an AC tune-up. I showed up on a Friday morning around 9:00 am and was told by "Paul" he couldn't get me in until Tuesday. Being that I only had Friday and Monday off, I decided I would go forward with it and made an appointment for Monday morning (after explaining I only had Monday available, Monday was suddenly open). I dropped my car off via the drop box and waited for a call on Monday during the day. Well here's the news I got. My AC was fine and running at 42 degrees. However, since the car had 151,350 miles on it, it was recommended I have the "150,000 mile" tune up. In addition, I had a power steering leak, brakes were down to 2 millimeters in the front and there was some hose that needed replacing. Oh and the recommended items for the 150,000 tune-up which included several items (flushing of various fluids etc) All in all, the total was somewhere around $1,500.00. Is it me or does this sound a little high? I requested the June discount of 10% because I actually brought the vehicle in during the month of June, but was told they could not get me in until July 1st. Paul agreed. Hence the price was lowered down to $1,410.00. When I was picking up the vehicle on Monday evening, I asked Paul, "What about the check engine light?" as that is why I originally brought it in? He didn't have an immediate answer for me and had to do some checking. He came back and told me that it was due to some emissions issue and a part would need to be ordered. I advised him that was the reason I originally brought my vehicle in was to get this fixed. He willingly offered me a rental car as I was picking the car up around 5:30 p.m. on Monday and needed a car to get to work the next day. I was quickly hustled over to Enterprise Rental on South Broadway by some young kid who drove like a maniac. During the ride, I asked the kid who was paying for the rental car? The kid didn't have a clue. When I got to Enterprise Rental on South Broadway they quickly made a call to Paul's female assistant to confirm that Toyexus would be footing the rental car bill. I was given a Toyota Yaris as my rental. Now I know the history of this car because my friend bought it from John Elway Honda in 2001 with 20,000 miles on it. I bought it from him in 2008 for $6,200.00. At that time, I ended up dropping $2000 into it to get it up to par as my friend never did any maintenance on it. I was okay with it then because it needed it and the car had 107,000 miles on it at the time. I have never had any issues with it except for a starter that went out in October 2012 and a front joint connected to the tires that needed to be replaced. Both were done for reasonable prices at other shops. Well I received a message on my voice mail on Monday night from Paul (in his monotone voice) telling me the emissions problem would push the price to $2,000.00! Are you kidding me? Everyone knows Hondas can go forever, but I can't help but feeling I am being taken. When I looked at the initial bill, I noticed there was approximately $950 worth of LABOR costs. This doesn't seem possible since I initially got the call about what needed fixing around 11:30 AM and when I showed up at Toyexus on Monday evening my car was gone and told it was out on a road test by the mechanic. If my calculations are correct, that's 8 hours of labor costs, which would put it at $120 an hour assuming they started looking at my car at 10:00 a.m. on Monday. To me, this seems very high with regard to prices. I only saw one mechanic working on vehicles when I was there. I plan to have Paul show me exactly what was replaced and walk me through the bill when I pick up on Tuesday because I feel like I have been ripped off as the car is worth barely $4,000.00. I have very little time to take my car in when it has problems TRUST really comes into play when being told what the problems are with your vehicle. I need some peace of mind in knowing that I am not being taken. Hopefully, this will be the case. This review MAY change depending if Paul can convince me that all of these things were fixed and replaced so stand by for a second review. Roger M. read more

I've taken my truck to Toyexus twice now and have never felt pressured to do unnecessary services or walked away feeling scammed by crazy service tech fees. I sought another option after the dealership pressured me into new tires and a pricey diagnostic test. Turns out the small hole was indeed patchable and I just needed a new gas cap. Paul and team readily kept me updated on the status of my Tacoma and gave me options when it came to needed services. They even drove my vehicle to another shop when they acknowledged the wiring in my aftermarket HID headlights were beyond what they felt comfortable calibrating. So the big dealership I took my car to tells me that my suspension is shot and that they'll need $1500 to fix it. They didn't show me (or offer to show me) what the problem is, they just tell me they want a ton of cash to fix it. I'm puzzled by this bold claim since the only issue at this point is mild uneven tire wear so I decide to get a 2nd opinion. I went to Toyexus (I had met Paul through a work contact and he stuck me as an honest and trust-worthy guy). I worked with Aaron who took a look at my car, researched my warranty coverage, evaluated all my options and ultimately suggested that there just isn't enough of a reason to replace the suspension when you factor in the cost. He told me it'll likely cost me a few thousand miles in tread life on my tires but astutely pointed out that it would take far more than that to justify the cost of new suspension. What a relief it is knowing I can go somewhere and get an honest, educated suggestion. I'll be taking my car here for all my work now, since it's clear these guys are honest. read more

Alway have experienced fair pricing, quick turn-around and professional, courteous care. Hafta say that following the last 90K maintenance service on my 2007 that I really did notice a difference. Just starting it up and running it home the car had a nice purr. Spent 1600 dollars to have my 2004 4runner converted to a standard shock system (abandoning the air bag suspension system as it keeps failing). They said they did the work (again 1600 dollars) and nothing was fixed. They also told me my brand new shocks were completely shot and they were done 8,000 miles ago. This place is filled with crooks I highly recommend avoiding this place at all costs. When i went back to tell them that they hadnt fixed the problem at all, the guy seemed like he felt bad and said he would rush ship the parts that they really needed to fix the problem. A week later, and they have apparently "ordered the wrong part." I cant believe there are positive reviews for this place as they just took me for almost 2 grand. read more

Had a couple of more expensive things done, but always for cheaper and faster than anywhere else I've gone.
