I've been waiting for months to check this place out. There's a lot of boba shops all over town but not many use real tea leaves and simply have premade powder mixes and artificial flavorings. TP Tea is the real deal and utilizes OG methods you'd expect from a legit Taiwanese bubble tea spot. This is a great addition to the west Clairemont/Bay Ho area. Town Square has a lot of food offerings and now you can get your tea and sugar fix while you're at it without trekking to the Convoy area. Service was spot on. Staff are knowledgeable about their drinks and can give great reccs regardless of your palate. I can see myself coming here a few times a week with the family as the kiddos are in love and boba. If you like black sesame flavor this one is it! Sesame milk tea was very fragrant and I recommend it at 50% sweetness, the square boba is very similar to regular boba without the black sugar flavor. Great drinks and excellent service! The staff was friendly and quick, and there were plenty of seats to relax and enjoy. I really liked the boba, and my wife loved the cheese foam topping. Always exciting when a new popular boba chain opens in SD! We came on a Saturday around 2 pm during their soft opening and the line was out the door. Waited around 20 mins to order and another 5-10 mins for the drinks. We ordered the tie guan yin milk tea with boba and the boba milk tea, both at 80% sugar. The TGY milk tea was floral tasting and you can taste the quality. The boba milk tea was refreshing with good flavor and quality, which was my fav. The boba was smaller than other places, but still nice and chewy and not too sweet. Both drinks were solid and I would come back to try their other drinks! 80% sugar was a bit sweet but I like sweet drinks. I've been here several times now and I love the Tie Guan Milk tea with boba (I get 15% sweet to taste the nuttiness but the servers have great tips on how to pick your sweetness). We also tried the sesame iron goddess cube pearl drink which tasted just like sesame and had cube pearl bobas. I prefer the milk teas and round boba but this was fun to try. Grand opening 9/13/25! The moo! my taro drink is made with fresh taro paste, not too sweet! It's not made with powder, that's important. The taro was thick and they were definitely not stingy with it! They had samples of their strawberry milk tea and milk tea 50% sugar for the opening, and that sealed the deal for me. It is a delicious milk tea, I dare say it may surpass my current favorite place in San Diego... and I don't usually like boba but theirs was very fresh and chewy. (It was a BOGO deal for grand opening so I had to get the boba milk tea) Grand opening: The first 50 people each day can pick a free tote (two sizes) - I picked the large one. The print on it is already kinda falling off but that's simply cuz of the material of the bag, which is also shedding constantly on me... the small tote might be good as a lunch bag. The place is airy and clean. Beautifully decorated for the grand opening. There are various drinks to choose from. At the moment, the dairy choices are fresh milk or oat. There are drinks without milk. Pending on what you order, price ranges from $4.95 - $7. Pretty reasonable price and comes in one size. Adjust the sweetness of the drink to your liking. We were a big group and the staff provided excellent service! They ensured they got the order right and were very efficient by placing our drinks and straws in carry out bags, all in a timely manner. I ordered TGY family milk tea, Coffee tea cheese foam, Mango passion smoothie and strawberry smoothie (buy 1 get 1 free - grand opening promo). All the drinks tasted fantastic! TP tea soft opening! While we waited in line, we were given samples of their signature milk tea and osmanthus tea both at 30% sugar. We were recommended 30% sugar for milk teas and 50% for fruit teas. I got the Taiwan Classic milk tea because I wanted to try their QQ noodle - it felt like an in between of a boba and jelly. Let me preface by saying that I don't ever write reviews. However, after my first visit to TP, I knew that I absolutely had to. We visited on a whim during one of their grand opening days and had the pleasure of meeting who I can only assume to be the owner. I wanted to try something new so I ordered the Tie Guan Yin Milk Tea (roasted oolong) because it was one of their recommended drinks and one of the few milk teas that I'm not familiar with. He suggested getting it with 50% sweetness (which I did) and assured me that if I didn't like it, he'd remake it for free, or offer me something else. The drink was delightful and I fully agree with his recommendation for 50% sweetness - it's just sweet enough to satisfy my craving for something sweet, but also still allows me to fully taste the tea itself. Even aside from the tea (which btw, was fairly/competitively priced - because I know some of you are going to ask!), what really blew me away was the service. The owner was SO thorough in his recommendations and had the kindest, most welcoming demeanor. You can tell that he's truly put his heart and soul into this establishment and it is honestly so refreshing. TP Tea, I will absolutely be back. I was super excited to see that TPTea had opened in San Diego. This has been my favorite boba place ever since I was in high school! I've been a few times since then and have had both fantastic drinks and service. The staff here is super friendly and very communicative with how long it would take for the drinks to come out. So far, I have gotten the strawberry milk tea (my absolute favorite), the black sesame iron goddess and the jelly milk tea. The boba pearls are perfectly chewy and not overly sweet. I love how fresh everything tastes and the quality of the ingredients they use. As with many other boba shops, you can adjust your sweetness and ice levels for most drinks. Parking here is plentiful! I have not had any issues with finding any parking, and I like how there are so many different restaurants and shops to hang around. From the times I have come here, their online ordering was not in place yet so you can only order at the counter or the kiosk in person. I really love their add ons. I always order the tgy milk tea and it has taken me a couple of orders to figure out my preferred sweetness but I think 50% is perfect for me. They have kiosks or you can order at the register. The service is pretty quick and theres seating both inside and outside the store. Their boba is chewy, soft and sweet. Other boba places do not have qq noodles or the cube pearls so I always order either of those add ons. The qq noodles are not that sweet but I love the chew and texture of them. read more

I come here almost daily at this point. This location is the best TP location there is and I've been to 2 others. TGY milk tea with qq noodle 80% sweet is perfection. Mango drink is good too. TP Tea is a Taiwanese boba chain that opened up a SD location less than a year ago. PARKING: Large parking area. Never had an issue finding a spot. SERVICE (5/5): Seamless customer service experience! The employees here are kind, helpful, and prompt. There are two self-checkout kiosks in front of the barista station. If you need further assistance, the employees are happy to help you. They have a small seating area that is a mix of table seating and booth seating. Great for hanging out, but not so great for studying. DRINKS (4.75/5): The tea quality is very high here -- earthy, fragrant, and never oversteeped. Surprisingly the prices are within average for SD boba shops. While I do love their milk teas, fruit teas are my go-to at any boba shop these days and my favorite drink to get here is the iced lemon black tea. I get it with less ice and 30% sugar (for some reason, for this drink in particular their 50% sugar tastes like 75-80% sugar to me). It's so refreshingly crisp! OVERALL: I'm so happy that they finally have a location here in SD; I loved going to their Cupertino location when I still lived in the Bay. Their drinks are still as good as I remembered. read more

New boba spot in the Clairemont Town Square Shopping Center. There's lots of stores to shop at and places to eat as well in the area. Plenty of drink options. You can either order from the kiosk or at the counter. My order only took about 5 mins to make. The mango passion smoothie can be made with or without milk. My daughter opted to get it without milk. It's refreshing. Sweet from the mango and a bit tart from the passion fruit. Unfortunately, they ran out of crystal boba. My go to is usually green tea but this time I tried something different. To my surprise the TGY (Tie Guan Yin) tea with boba, grass jelly & QQ noodles was pretty good. TGY is a bold, toasty oolong tea. The QQ noodles reminds me of what people put inside a Vietnamese dessert called "Che." Boba consistency is soft and chewy. Not too sweet. As I was leaving, the girl behind the counter asked me how I liked my drinks. From what I read in previous reviews, they are willing to remake your drink to your liking if you weren't satisfied in any way. That's wonderful customer service. Please don't take advantage of it. Yay! I've been waiting for months for this place to open. The last time I went to a TP Tea on my trip to Hong Kong and we went to it twice. Now, we have one here in SD! I came during soft opening. There's plenty of PARKING! I really think that's so key given other areas are getting rougher with parking. I'm tired of battling for parking at other places. I like the boba that is cooked through and is not hard in the middle. I am more of a pudding person though. I like that their pudding isn't gritty like other places. They really get the sweetness level right here. I enjoy the fact they offer 30% sweetness on some drinks. They have 15% but it depends. I am not really fancy and I got classic milk tea. I think that's how you can gauge a milk tea place. How well they cook the boba and the milk tea. Consistency seems off to a good start for a soft opening. The staff is really friendly. It's alright. Boba milk tea was good but nothing to write home about. I was really excited for the Thai Tea Brûlée Tornado, but it fell a little flat of expectations because the blended ice and Thai Tea/brulee was not well distributed. You have to end up mixing it really well together to avoid having sips that were too sweet and sips that had no flavor (blended ice). Service was really great, the woman at the counter was exceptionally cheerful at the grand opening. read more

TP Tea is a well known boba place from Taiwan and in North Cal and now they have opened its first store in Southern Cali. Located in the Clairemont Square center near where the Reading Cinemas use to be at. They're known for their unique drinks and I agree. Since we had a lion dance performance there, we were one of the first 50 ppl there to receive their tote bag. And also they were doing their B1G1 free (9/13-9/14) on their drinks. The space inside is roomy with a few seating area. I saw a kiosk that u can order on there besides ordering at the front but not sure if that was used because of the large crowd for their grand opening. A few drinks I got was the Sunshine ice tea which is a refreshing citrus drink with pieces of pineapples and a unique jelly called Golden Jelly. I also ordered a mango-nada which has chamoy and tajin in it. A few other drinks (not pictured) was the TGY Family Milk Tea which has boba, coffee jelly, and pudding in it. Sounds like a lot of toppings, but it was really good! That drink was only $7, so that's actually a good price especially with all those toppings. Also got the tornado Thai tea which was nicely made cause it was a tornado swirl looking drink where it partly brown and white. This is my new favorite authentic boba place when I'm doing errands!! The Taiwan classic milk tea was robust flavor and chock full of toppings! This is the best QQ noodle i've ever had and the boba texture was a solid 9.4/10. The grass jelly was smooooth, very different than the other boba shops nearby. I couldn't tell if it had much herbal flavor since the tea was very strong. Tea was well brewed and a bold classic black tea. The tie guan yin with salted cheese foam and tea jelly was pretty good. The tie guan yin was roasted and very tasty and refreshing. However, the cheese foam lacked flavor- wasn't sweet or salty or cheesy so it would be better named "cream foam" or "cloud top". It was a good texture though, not too heavy. The tea jelly was very smooth and refreshing, not too sweet :) Sugar levels are accurate- got 30% for both drinks. They have fresh milk on the menu as well. There was only less than 5 people waiting on a Saturday at noon and I got my drink in less than 10 minutes. The owners were very friendly and kind and patiently explained menu items with a smile to customers. They also stand by their drinks and will adjust it for you if the sugar level isn't to your liking! I also saw them give a topping sample to another customer, which is so nice of them and very rare. I love that their menu has a lot of legit teas and can't wait to try the sesame stuff! Clearly they are very dedicated to their service, craft, and quality. This location has some seating and tables but no guest wifi, and it can get kinda loud when the line is longer so I wouldn't recommend it for studying. They take card and tap to pay. Note: fyi they do not allow reusable cups. Conveniently located in a plaza with grocery, hardware store, Petco, Ulta, Michael's, and not too far away from a post office.
