The brewery tour was by far the most fun brewery tour we've ever taken! Our tour guide, Doug, was fantastic. He kept the group entertained, was incredibly knowledgeable, and made the entire experience enjoyable from start to finish. We also lucked out with a great group of people on the tour, which added to the fun atmosphere. Doug did an excellent job explaining the brewing process and showing us the production facility. One of the highlights was when he stopped at one of the large fermentation tanks and poured everyone a sample of unfinished beer. It was a unique experience and very interesting to taste beer at that stage of production. The best part of the tour came at the end when we gathered around a bar and sampled several different beers. Doug explained the characteristics of each one, making it both educational and enjoyable. The brewery itself is huge, with plenty of seating, a great food menu, and a wide variety of beers to choose from. The tour costs $15, and you even get a beer before the tour begins, which makes it an excellent value. If you're in the area, I highly recommend stopping in for a cold beer and booking the tour. Great beer! Kinda bummed they didn't have my favorite Haze Charmer anymore. Weird food menu... last time I got the charcuterie board and kinda hated it.. ham and I think duck and cheeses that didn't go together... this time I tried the chicken sandwich which was equally weird and awful. I went to lunch here with 3 friends and the staff members were very nice. The menu had lies of things I don't like and a few things I do like. You give a credit card to your server and that opens the tab. You go to the "snack" counter to order but drinks are brought by a server. Water is self service. After you place your order you get an alarm square (like Panera) and then you pick up your food and silverware and water. Two of us ordered the BBQ brisket sandwich. It came with cole slaw and Bbq sauce and a side of fries. Dining partner really liked the brisket and said it was so tender. I asked for the bbq sauce on the side and I'm glad I did because it was a vinegar base sauce. I didn't like it at all. I found the brisket to be a little too fatty and not well seasoned. The slaw in the sandwich wasn't seasoned either. I was disappointed. Both of us thought the fries were meh. Not hot enough and not crispy. Mine were kind of soggy. Diner 3 got grilled cheese. It was a sandwich in thick bread and came with a side of marinara sauce. She said the sandwich was good. Diner 4 got the Mediterranean plate. Hummus, tabuli, zucchini fritters and tahini. She graciously offered me tastes. The tabuli was really good and the zucchini was prepared like felafel. They were ok. The pita triangles looked good. I didn't try anything else. The other diners all ordered sodas which came with twist off caps in small bottles. They liked the sodas. Overall, the food was ok. There is a gift shop with a variety of merchandise and lots of beer for sale. I asked if the beers and 'cocktails' were available as singles rather than 6 packs. And I was offered a taste. I chose the freaky fruity cherry limeade cocktail. It had too much of the taste of hops for me. The server said it's not made with hops but on the same equipment and although it was tasty, I couldn't get past the taste if hops. Not something I like. This place is massive and beautiful on the inside. It felt like a place I could visit quite a bit. You order at the counter and pick up your own food. Everything was good but not over the moon delicious. The pulled pork had pork pellet inside it too, which was a nice surprise. The pretzel had that texture that makes for a great dish. I thought the two sauces would had been better if they were different than beer cheese and spicy mustard. I feel like there is very few solid beer cheese. This was a perfect spot for dinner after a long day at Hershey park. It was open seating and order at the counter. Parents could get a good beer and kids can play at the tables. There were so many kids that my kids made friends with another and made a hot wheel party. We were able to relax and the food was good. Loved the pretzel! I used to live in Hershey and was there when Tröegs first opened, so it was great fun to visit again after so many years. My wife and I stopped in last year on a road trip and we really enjoyed it. There's plentiful seating inside and you parking outside, which is great. You order beer at the bar and they have a separate line for food and both the beer and the food are fantastic! Huge space! Lots of beers and cocktails to pick from. The food is okay, I had the pulled pork sandwich and can only describe it as weirdly wet. The fries were good, and my coworker had the pork belly which was excellent. The whole place has a weird smell, probably from the beer being brewed there. This place is phenomenal. If you are acquainted with the fundamentals of the craft beer scene of Central Pennsylvania, you know and love Troegs, their solid IPAs and world-changing Mad Elf series. A visit to the brewery provides fresh pours of the classics as well as a host of specialty brews (e.g., bourbon barrel-aged Mad Elf Grand Cru, which is nothing short of magical). Many of these brews are high-octane. Handily, Troegs also serves food - and it's not the typical compliment of fried bar nibbles. The menu offers a wide and changing variety of dishes of all sizes that are damn near gourmet (e.g., braised short rib, duck confit, crab lasagna). The Bavarian pretzels with beer cheese is an obvious must. And I like the way they do payment. After you sit down, a member of the wait staff will find you, take your name, credit card, and (first) beer order, after which you can just give your name to the bar or snack bar and they will add order(s) to your tab. Visited on a Sunday afternoon for the first time while on a weekend trip to Hershey/Harrisburg. I've had their beer plenty of times over the years as they distribute widely to NJ where I'm from - their Mad Elf is a Christmas staple in my household. I went into the brewery blind, having no idea how big the facility was or that they had 1,200+ reviews on Yelp. A place like this teeters on the edge of living up to the hype, or being crushed by it. I'm happy to say that out of the hundreds of breweries I have visited in my lifetime, this was hands down one of the best I have ever been to. There is a massive parking lot outside, so parking is not an issue. When you walk inside you're hit by a distinct smell of yeast only found in industrial sized breweries. You'll either love it or hate it depending on how much you like beer. I was with my girlfriend and son and we found seating right away. My girlfriend and I are both huge beer nerds and we each got a flight of several beers only available at the brewery, like a reward for making the pilgrimage. Beers were phenomenal. We shared the fried brussels and squash appetizer which was amazing, and my son got chicken tenders and a lemonade. The place was crowded but beers and food came out quickly and service was very friendly. One thing that struck me was we didn't see a tv anywhere, at least where we were seated in the main area. Nice change of pace from most breweries I've been to. Afterwards we enjoyed the self guided brewery tour as well as the extensive gift shop. We loved every aspect of our experience here and will definitely make the trip back someday. read more

Okay... so... the food was amazing which is why I am giving this 5 stars. I don't drink beer but for those that did at my table they expressed that they enjoyed it. I have to be honest when I walked in we were expecting a sit down dinner so when we were told we had to order our food somewhere else ourselves, we got cold feet. The hostess said to trust her that the food did not disappoint and she was correct! The food was literally too cheif with the exception that you just had to get it yourself. I am OBSESSED with the food I tried at Tröegs. I got their chicken sandwich, which was super unique and full of flavor. The pretzel bun was soft, chicken was juicy, and the corn salsa and pepper jam were so flavorful and spicy. The fries were nice and crispy as well. The rosemary popcorn was also a decent snack. Since I'm not a beer person, I ordered the freakier squeeze lemonade with vodka. This was nice and refreshing! The atmosphere here can be really loud just because it's so big and busy. They have a large amount of seating, though it was still hard to find indoor seating with how packed it was. However, they have a gorgeous beer garden with outdoor seating options as well. For how busy it is, they do a good job at getting through the lines for the snack bar. Additionally, someone came over and took our drink orders, which helped save us some time. They've been in operation for nearly thirty years (ca. 1997), and take the locavore spirit to heart, as they buy almost exclusively locally sourced ingredients--including 225k lbs of local grain, honey, and fruit used in their beers. I'd almost say their food was almost Michelin quality. Not 1,2, or 3 star quality, but definitely on-par with Michelin recommended or Bib Gourmand winner quality. We go to a LOT of those, as well, fwiw. *Their menu changes seasonally, so what we ate you might not see on the menu--but if they have the duck confit be sure to get it! *Their Tabbouleh Salad was also a winner, which is saying a lot from me. I'm shocked that I had never been here before. But during this last visit, we decided to check it out. For the record, I don't drink much anymore but John does so we go to a lot of breweries. From the moment we walked in, the staff was very welcoming and friendly. The inside space was extremely large but also LOUD. We decided to sit outside. I ordered the tabbouleh salad with salmon added. It was delicious! I eat a lot of tabbouleh thanks to John's mom (trust me--she knows how to make it). We were impressed. For a place that calls their food menu snack bar menu , I did not expect gourmet looking food and high quality taste to go with it. Delicious food. Went back for lunch two days in a row- I'm pregnant so obviously not drinking but strictly went back for the good food. We got the Brisket Sandwich and Pulled Pork Sandwich the first day and both were unbelievable. They smoke their meats in house and even make their own spicy ketchup. Was in the area for a wedding, and went to the Hershey tour early, had our Uber driver drop us here for lunch. Nice space. Open and large shared tables and barstools. Walk up counter for a selection of bites, and walk up bar for beverages. Nice store for local items as well as take home brews. Bar service was lacking - a little. I would have liked my server to try and "sell" me on a tasting or a seasonal brew but that did not happen. Asking questions was like pulling teeth and had to wait several minutes to get his attention to actually order. (Not busy - it was quite early). Having pointed that out, I think it's a great spot, and the grounds outside are also very nice. They had a few tents of vendors selling vinyl and it was a great draw. If in the area- absolutely go in and enjoy. We ordered a pretzel and Hungarian goulash or soup which was very rich and filling. The store is a must stop on the way out. Something for everyone. The place is enormous and well done. Tons of seating options. Enormous bar. They have a large shop where you can buy to go beer, clothing and all kinds of branded merch. I like the little self guided tour you can do of the brewing area as well. They have a separate kitchen where you go order your food. The outside space is really nice. It's conveniently located right beside Hershey Park and Tanger Outlets. I didn't eat anything when I visited. They had a decent number of beers on tap. Unfortunately for such a large draft list they didn't have anything that fit my taste. I struggled here. This is hands down the best beer I've had on the east coast and that's saying something. My husband had the Octoberfest, paid an extra $5 and got it in a sweet mug we got to keep. I had the wheat. This brewery came highly recommended by locals and did not disappoint. We visited a Saturday evening so of course, it was very busy. You have to sit yourself so it can be challenging finding a table or booth, especially if you're with a large party. Even when you sit, servers will take your drink order but not food which you have to line up for yourself and the lines get LONG, so I recommend one member of the party gets designated to put in everyone's food order. Tröegs Independent Brewing in Hershey, PA is about 1 mile from Hershey's Chocolate World and recommend stopping at brewery to try their IPA beers and food. We enjoyed the brisket burger unfortunately, they were out of the meatloaf burger heard it was delicious. The service was great. There's indoor and outdoor seating. Genuinely surprised by how great the food was. You have to order downstairs, but it comes fast, and it was a lot better than expected. Beer, also great. I love the Mad Elf in the winter. The beers in general are drinkable. There's plenty of seating, and when you open a tab you can sit upstairs or downstairs and order. But it's a bit of a crapshoot. It's bustling during the holidays and was a challenge to find a seat. Not a bad problem to have - by any stretch - though as a customer stopping in it was intimidating. I've reviewed Troegs a few times and would like to focus on their tour this time! We are local and mug club members, but decided to book the 6:30 tour this past Friday night. At $15 per person it was worth every penny! You get a welcome beer, a sample during the tour, and two samples at the end. You also get a special take home pint glass to keep. It took about an hour and 15 minutes to complete and we learned so much about their brothers and how they got to Hershey! Our tour guide, Karen was amazing! She was so knowledgeable, friendly, and spunky! She made the whole experience enjoyable and we'd take her tour again in a heartbeat! Also, join their mug club! For $50/year, you get a $1 beer weekly! We went for an early lunch on Saturday after hitting a morning Hershey park extravaganza. My friends love this place and I was in town visiting. They have a big seating section indoors as well as ample patio space. We enjoyed our beers on the shaded patio. I had the raspberry wheat. While light and refreshing- I didn't get a lot of raspberry flavor. Next I had the salt and lime which was also light and nice on a hot day. They have servers coming around on the patio to take your drink order but you have to go to the counter for food service. We ordered the popcorn, pretzel, chicken sandwich and duck entree. All were delicious!! The popcorn serving is HUGE so we ended up just taking it home. The pretzel was yummy along with the cheese. I didn't try to chicken sandwich but my friends enjoyed it. Whenever I see duck confit on a menu I have to get it. This was delicious, served over a bed of greens and delicious roast potatoes. I really enjoyed it!! When in Hershey.....Go To Troegs!! As a check in before a Hershey stadium show we decided to trek into town early and go to Troegs. My first time! We arrived around 1pm and had to park in the extension lot, wow it was busy. But that was not seen by service for drinks or food. By seating, yes. As we had to wait for awhile for a seat to open up- but no biggie, as we were in the food line anyways. But wow, Troegs has an efficient operation!! Many, many beer and alternative sip options. We stuck with lower ABV IPAs in just starting the day, lololol. Most especially enjoy a staple Graffiti Highway. We snacked and was sooooo impressed with the food. Surprising, quirky, fun and delicious. We only had the pretzel and the pickled veg plate. FML though, these snacks made us want to try the whole menu. The pretzel was huge and served with delicious beer cheese and a hot mustard- spicy for sure, nice burn, so good! But these pickles, I die! The pumpernickel bread and whatever they did with the butter - can I eat this everyday???!!!! Light, bitter, sour, sweet. All of all flavors beautiful! Coming from VA, I didn't know what to expect when visiting. I just knew that I've enjoyed their beer and was excited to check it out. In VA, we're a state that allows dogs inside breweries. PA is a lil different, just patio (which is fine). Something to know if you're from out of town. Regarding the facility and everything else - this place is amazing. It's just a crazy large facility. Seats everywhere, things to check out, great store, it's just wild. I thoroughly enjoyed all of it. The food - delicious. I can say if you go here when there's an event or something tied to Hershey Park - be ready b/c it'll be slammed. We had a hard time finding some patio seating and it wasn't that busy. Just a nice day. Overall, this place is a total gem. I love this place! So many nice people work here! We took a long weekend and spent it in the Hershey/Lancaster area this weekend. Wanting to try some "new to us" things -- we found Troegs and decided to book a brewery tour! Now personally, I have seen their beer on menus at Pittsburgh restaurants but never tried. So ... here was my chance! Ample parking at their Hershey location ( which used to be the site of Hershey Meat Packing). SO MANY PEOPLE .. which tells you that you are in for a good time! We checked in for our tour and DJ was our guide.. we started with a sample of Perpetual and off we went. DJ was very knowledgeable and liked that we asked so many questions. In the tour we sampled Trougenator on the production floor (no carbonation added yet).. OMG! Before the tour ended ,he took us into a private sample room where we got to try two more beers ... loved them all. I was intrigued by one DJ talked about during the tour but we did not get to sample as we had a ghost tour in downtown Lancaster we had to boogie to get to (inserting very sad face here) - the Mad Elf. It's mad with honey and cherries and sounded like it could be up my alley. Maybe next year - when we are back this way- we can stay post tour and try a flight to buy/ bring some back to the Burgh. Ohhhh forgot to tell ya, they gave us a NICE Troegs glass too for taking the tour.
