Saturday was my first time at Tracy Toyota. Since it's the weekend, I braced myself for a long wait even with an appointment at 10:45 AM. The wait to be checked in took 20 minutes but you get to wait in the comfort of your vehicle. They will do a 360 inspection recorded on the tablet. Tatiana helped me. She was personable and bubbly, in the midst of chaos. While she helped me, we got to chatting. And I don't enjoy idle chit chat but I enjoyed talking with her. She even flagged down the shuttle for me. Because the service was estimated to be 2-3 hrs, I didn't want to be stuck there during lunch time. Since the van was already fully packed, I decided to wait for the next one in an hour. I milled around the showroom. It's a no-frills kind of place. There's a massive Starbucks machine but you only get cups from your service manager due to Covid. After enjoying my caffeine, I checked out the new luxurious Crown. By the time I got my chips from the vending machine (~1 hr wait), the other shuttle arrived. Off I went with another passenger on the shuttle. The hybrid Sienna was a comfy ride. As I sat through a tour of Tracy, Tatiana called me with the news my car was ready. The service only took 1.5 hrs. Incredible. The shuttle U-turned. Tatiana helped me with check-out. She even accompanied to my car to remove the paper mat from the driver's side. I noticed that the service technician, Josh (?), even reset the screen. Normally, I need to clumsily return the my previous view. I've also checked the valve caps on the tires. All accounted for. I've been looking for a new Rav4 Hybrid for a couple weeks in the Bay Area but the market does not look good. Lets start by sayin we had called and stated we were on our way...updated arrival time and called to get our car added, as potential trade in to speed up process. Met by a lady(saleswomen) stated theyd greet us and be right with us...we waited around minimal 5 minutes before asking a salesman for jesus or Mustafa. Both salesman did their job and no complaints with them. Our vehicle '19 QX50, has a recall to remove pan and inspect pan for debris. (VC-Turbo engine bearing defects) Sales Manager(I assume) (I asked Mustafa for the name but he stopped replying) came back and stated he had two options...(option 1) proceed with deal and not interested in car as it has a recall. (option 2)take as trade and only give us 8k. i stated no...they did work up to 10.5k as trade in.(i still said no) i educated them on what a recall is and what this particular one referred to. (msgd Nissan buddy, oc shop foreman) he states its easy, drop pan if debris r/r engine. updated Mustafa and mgr he then said he'd be out of money if vehicle sat(min you no Inspection) has been done. Was planning to leave as such but Mustafa called and my wife updated wed look elsewhere, he called once again today after being told not interested. My complaint is that their service department is so disorganized and lacks professionalism. I have brought my cars for service with an appointment and still end up waiting inside my vehicle more than 30 mins to even be acknowledged! I took my 4 runner in for service on a weekday without an appt and was completely ignored! I called the number and was told that they take priority with the vehicles that have an appt, which is understandable but there was no one in the appt line at all! I have bought many vehicles over the years and I didn't feel pressured by him one bit. Bought a used Sequoia from Tracy Toyota last year in middle of 2023. At the time, SUVs especially low volume ones like Sequoia were hard to find and easily going way over KBB value. I had already been looking for weeks when I saw a 2017 model listed with Tracy Toyota. To my surprise, it was listed pretty close to KBB. Visit and vehicle inspection were smooth and professional. Their office staff stayed back late to process the loan application so I could drive the truck back with me the same day and did not have to make a second trip. Fast forward a year later, DMV mysteriously placed a stop on my registration renewal. I made two trips to the DMV and they couldn't tell me what was missing or why was there a stop. I made a virtual appointment with DMV and all they could tell me was to contact the dealer. So I contacted Tracy Toyota. It took them a week or so to figure things out with their DMV rep but they followed up and had the issue fixed. After waiting for 2 hours I was told that the whining so called "technician" did not want to do the work because he would have to remove 6 extra bolts. This was for a $649+ transmission service. Being a customer since 2001 it sure is sad of the lack of motivation of these so called techs. They would rather upsell $58 cabin air filters that you can purchase for $8 on amazon and have a child install it. I set out to buy a new Tacoma and was looking at multiple dealerships. Tracy Toyota had the model, color and a good number of desired options in stock. I setup my financing with my bank before going to the dealership, got the approval based on the asking price directly from Tracy Toyota's website and then contacted the dealership. I was responded to without a bunch of harassing phone calls and the overly needy salesperson calling me. I let them know approximately what time I planned being there. Upon arrival I was greeted by the salesperson. They knew exactly which truck i was there to see and they were ready to show it. After the test drive, I told the salesperson let's work out the deal. Told them how much I had to put as a down payment and off they went to confirm things. This is the only reason I can't give 5 stars, they came back and told me the price was slightly higher and they needed to confirm some stuff with my bank to get a re-approval. Fortunately it was still well within my budget and still a lower price than the other dealerships I was looking at. Within about 90 minutes, I was driving off the lot with my new Tacoma. I attempted to contact the GM Tim Vu, with the number provided on the original review and it was just the Tracy Toyota number, the maintenance department took 3.5 hours this time instead of 2 which is a down fall. I have been coming here for almost a year for all of my routine maintenence. Never had any complaints until today, when I came in for my 60K maintenence. I pulled up 20 minutes early (10:10AM) for my appointment, which was scheduled for 10:30am. I was told there was 2 cars ahead of me. Both of those vehicles had been helped before sitting for another 20 mins... Another vehicle pulled up and got helped right away. I ended up not getting helped until 11. Total of 45 minutes sitting there waiting to be helped. The car that pulled up and got help before me sat maybe 10 minutes. I overheard someone say "nobody has helped #5 yet", which was me. I also ended up having to wait for a shuttle to come back, which pulled out to give others a ride as I was waiting to be helped. I had an 11AM meeting and ended up having to sit in the lobby to take it on my phone. Maybe I should have showed up 20 minutes late instead. Ridiculous. Please do better. If I could give a 0 star, I would. I needed help finding a certain number in my car to cancel a certain plan, but my system won't let me access it without failing. I've called multiple lines that Toyota has given me, but one operator told me to just go to my local dealership and they should be able to help me. I went inside here, hoping that I would finally get my problem resolved after making so many calls with so many different numbers. I explained everything to the associates, but all that I've explained went over their heads. Then a manager came out when the assistant realized he couldn't help me. Manager invited me into his office, and as I've explained my situation, he paid no attention and had no interest in what I said. He did not treat me like a customer, did not give me the attention or help I needed, and was sarcastic about everything he had said to me. Who signs checks and works on something WHILE a customer is talking? No eye contact, body language said a lot about his interest in the situation, and tone of voice told me he didn't care at all. It was extremely disrespectful for a manager to do that. It was really hard to stay positive and nice, because everything this manager did made me feel like I had to shut up, and that no one cared enough to help me find a single number in the system of my car. I felt like the manager could have at least tried to help me out. I left the manager's office when the assistant came in with his phone saying "Google says to call Roadside Assistance!" which, again, didn't work. May I add that the manager had said "If that [roadside assistance] line doesn't help you, call me outside and I'll yell at them for you!" in such a sarcastic tone, which was not greatly appreciated... Calling Roadside Assistance did not work, as they immediately said I was not calling the right line and hung up. Did I go back inside? I definitely didn't, because I felt like they weren't taking me seriously enough as a customer and that I was just a bother. I don't think any customer should leave the dealership feeling bad about asking for help with their car, especially when a Toyota operator had instructed them to visit a local dealership for help. Went to the dealership in Livermore and they gave me the right number to call, helped me through the entire process, and made sure all my questions had been answered. Do better Tracy Toyota. Considering he was working on checks, I'm assuming the manager is the finance manager. read more
