Woah, how did I not ever see this Trader Joe's in the neighborhood? This Trader Joe's is one of the larger ones versus Sherman Oaks (though that may change soon), and it even boasts great parking, either in their large lot or in the back streets. The space itself? Massive, the kind that you'd dream of if you wanted to play hide-and-seek as a child in a public shopping area. (Obviously, don't be hiding and seeking here, though, unless you're a well-sought after item, which in that case you'd be a natural at it.) Paying was fairly easy, and like all Trader Joe's locations, every station was worked by a caring staff member taking care of your items from scan to bag. I've been shopping at Trader Joe's for nearly 30 years and I've never had an issue that warranted complaint. I've always been treated well whenever I had an issue. Managers have always been considerate and respectful. Trader Joe's is consistently one of the coolest companies I've done business with. That was until I had to deal with Jason C, who claims to be the manager at the Trader Joe's on Ventura in Woodland Hills. I arrived at exactly 9:00 PM after spending a grueling hour trying to get to the store from my home in the mountains, after dealing with numerous setbacks. I only needed one item and I needed it desperately to prepare a medicinal tincture. There was nowhere else I knew of that would have it. And I would not be able to return the next day or anytime soon because I'm getting ready to go out of town. I pleaded my case with Jason and he had no consideration or respect for my situation and said at 9:01 that he would not allow me to get this item, despite the store still being actively full of people. I have been shopping at the store since it opened years ago. I've never seen this dude before and I swear to never see him again, because I'm not coming back. As a result, this ruined an entire batch for me. A heavy loss. I typically spend $500-$600 a month in this place and to be treated with such disrespect and a complete lack of consideration, aggravates me to the core. A successful manager has the capability to discern a situation instead of following the letter of the "law", following the intent, and taking care of customers that keep one in business when there are many other choices. Jason failed miserably, in my observation and experience... This is as much of a warning to Trader Joe's execs as it is the patrons. I have spent 4 decades creating promotional media/commercials for businesses. An inconsiderate manager can ruin a business' reputation to the point that no amount of advertising can salvage. Jason is an obedient drone that follows corporate policy to the letter, yet fails miserably at taking care of the customers, the "intent" of any successful manager. One's profit does not come from the Corporate office, it comes from the customers... To add insult to injury, he wishes me a wonderful evening... After he just ruined it... If it was me I'd replace him with someone who can make customers happy, in place of one that inspires them to spend their precious time warning humanity against him... to spare one the frustration, endured as a result... read more

Shopping in Woodland Hills, California... We were nearby, so - after Happy Hour, Rose F. and I went to look for the pastel-colored mini tote bags that were supposed to drop on 5.6.25. Fortunately, this location of Trader Joe's still had every color available! Yippee! These bags make great gifts! They are washable, strong, practical, and cute! I had several requests to bring them home... my luggage is really stuffed now... respect since there was a good selection of greeting cards... I couldn't resist! I was also able to use the convenient restroom! I appreciated the very spacious, clean, bright, and organized interior! Free shared parking is also appreciated! I've been to a lot of Trader Joe's locations over the years, but this one stands out in the best way. The store feels more spacious than most, which makes the shopping experience so much more enjoyable, especially during those busier times. One of my favorite things here is the wine selection. It's noticeably larger than other locations, with a great variety at really reasonable prices. Whether you're looking for an everyday bottle or something a little more special, they've got you covered. The produce is always fresh and fairly priced, which is something I really appreciate. I also love picking out flowers here. They have a great selection and it's so fun to mix and match to create your own bouquet. Another underrated gem are the greeting cards. They're adorable, unique, and such a great value. I always stock up when I'm here. And of course, no trip to Trader Joe's is complete without browsing the seasonal or limited-time items. It's always fun to discover something new, whether it's a snack, dessert, or one of their creative frozen meals. You just can't beat good ole Trader Joe's. This is the location closest to my home and used to be my favorite. Lately, in fact the last ten times I've shopped there, I've experienced less than friendly service with two young ladies in the cheese area after I asked a question stared at me blankly because I interrupted their personal conversation. They looked at me like "okay boomer" (I admit I am a boomer) I have worked in service all through the decades and I find this behavior really off putting. So I decided to try the Calabasas location, the West Hills location. Well, BIG DIFFERENCE! The ladies and one young man helping me out at the Calabasas location was SO MUCH NICER and so helpful! The West Hills the same really friendly cashiers and staff. The girls that were helping me happened to be sister in laws and they were the dynamic duo making sure my groceries were organized well - I was impressed by their energy and great attitude. The land of peonies...I've never seen such a bog collection on Peonies in TJ...Most likely i buy our shoppings in RF from TJ so i went to 50 states and im every state i went to TJ and i lived in LA so ive never had a chance to be in this TJ so based on my experience this is the land of peonies...lol their service was great...The store itself has high vibes and great ambiance. I usually go to the Trader Joe's by my house in chatsworth and earlier today I was at the Calabasas location. Now I decided to stop by this location on Ventura Blvd that I've never been to. It's connected to a paquito mas next door and is easy to get into as your turn left from Ventura and pull into a lot behind the store. This Trader Joe's is huge. The drink selection is huge. Its as fancy as the Calabasas location. Just starting to think maybe the chatsworth location just isn't good compared to others haha. Has your usual trademarks of a Trader Joe's. Clean, organized, fun employees in bright shirts, the great selection of food and drinks. Was in and out quickly as not busy. Went in for some salsa and dip. read more

Cesspool of ZERO level customer service and rude staff. Had to run in today on a time crunch. The cashier with curly hair had one person in line whose groceries she was packing. Was moving at a snail's pace. Then after she finally finishes packing only a few items she offers lollipops to the patrons kids. She takes out an entire box and is standing there for over 5 minutes while they make selections. I say I'm sorry I'm on a massive time crunch do you mind starting to ring me up. She says give me a minute. I bail to another cashier. The guy in a pink shirt and ponytail is also rude. I tell him I had to change lines and explained what happened. He looks at me and says it's hard to serve the public. Well it's hard to shop in a poorly run store with staff that has no emotional maturity. Other issues: Don't buy any produce from them anymore since it's poor quality and often rotten. Flowers go dead in 2 days. Veges have to really examine them since majority are rotting. F level quality control of what is being sold. I don't appreciate the attitude after I'm giving them my service. Total disgrace. read more

I never write reviews. This was a super weird experience and wasn't sure where I should talk about it. I purchased a steak from the store, and in my rush to get home I didn't check the expiration date on the item I purchased which I will take some blame for. I didn't find out until I got home that the steak was rotten as I opened it only an hour after purchasing. The representatives were nice when I presented the issue but in order to get another steak I had to pay an additional $2.52 for the same thing I just left with. The money wasn't the problem, it was the principle that with plenty of staff actively checking the shelves and a cashier inspecting my food as they ring me up for payment, that I was still billed more money for the same steak. Weird experience to say the least, I now know to double check the expiration of the products on the shelves here. read more

At trader Joe's Ventura blvd I went shopping with my parents and when we went to the check out two cashiers by the name of Jasmine and Nelly were checking out our items, they were very clearly friends and talking a lot during the checkout causing a distraction from bagging our groceries. They continued to banter on and they were singing lyrics to a song while my dad was trying to pay and it made us all feel uncomfortable because of their erratic and loud behavior, very inappropriate as workers. When we were about to leave, a cashier from another station said "enjoy that hunk of meat!" Talking about some kind of meat product and the cashiers at our station said "don't worry (my father's name) we will" and continued to laugh. My dad was clearly very uncomfortable and my mother and I were as well. Not appropriate behavior at all! Definitely won't be going back to them to check out my groceries. read more

This Trader Joe's is our weekly grocery store for certain items like the sparkling berry lemonade drink. The bacon, baby broccoli, and the fixings to make a pizzas are typical go to items. One of the things I like about this store is the bags they offer. This lemon one I had to get because of the color. I still love this Trader Joe's-but had had such a great new discovery last week that i wanted to share it. My son is a vegan-and some vegan foods are disgusting-so Thanksgiving meal for him was going to be a challenge. Everyone loves TJ's, correct?, except for a few minor issues. 1) There is a parking lot but let's be honest people, getting a space is a crap shoot! No one uses a signal and people will block the entire area just waiting for a possible space to open. 2) Your fellow customers can be obnoxious leaving their cart in the middle of an aisle or against the pasta you specifically came in for:( 3) Very often they no longer sell an item that you have been "buying there for years!!!" Am it right? On a good note: They offer a wide selection of wines, beers, hard liquor, imported and domestic cheeses...the list goes on. Yay!!! And how many of us intend on only purchasing a few items but always leave in the "red?" Lol. Yeah, definitely me!!!! Most of the employees are very helpful here at this location. Who doesn't love Trader Joe? So I have to shop at Trader Joe's minimum 1 time a month usually twice, there are just some things you can't get there. From 2buck Chuck,gourmet cheeses and items you just can't get anywhere, I love all the truffle items like cheese and truffle corn snacks, the potato chips with truffle amazing. Picked up truffle bbq sauce, sweet corn salsa , truffle aïoli then don't forget all the nuts and dried fruit, raspberry & lime sparkling water, need I say more hahaha easy parking in the back and very helpful and happy staff. read more

One of the few stores that hasn't done a drastic prices increases since Covid which is extremely ethical and amazing. Good deals on everything in the store and a delicious selection of food. I bought a dozen beautiful roses for only 9.99. They always have incredible deals on flowers and they have beautiful orchids right now for the holidays from 6.99 to 24.99 which is a steal. I always buy the vegan Parmesan cheese for 3.99. I buy their portobello mushrooms and bake the vegan cheese on top and it's one of my favorite. Trader Joe's portobello mushrooms are only 3.50! You save about 1.50 from the competitors price. They have lowest price for Health Aid kombucha drinks as well. Vegetable Samosas, Thai vegetable gyoza and vegan falafel are a few of my favorites. The staff is always personable and professional. Last night they had beautiful baskets made from recycled paper. The staff here, like many other Trader Joe's, is always helpful, knowledgeable and smiling. These people make close to minimum wage, and yet they're always happy. Go figure. Lately I've been on a cheese and dip kick, and Trader Joe's aims to please. To go salads are also at the top of my list. I just discovered the udon noodle salad with peanut dressing, and it's delish. One question I get asked a lot is about the 2 different blue corn tortilla chips. The triangle shaped ones are light, airy, crisper and more crunchy, with a nice salt to chip ratio. The round, "sprouted seed" ones are more dense, have a more earthy flavor, rustic, less crunch, almost like the bags been open a day. But they're healthier because of the sprouted seeds? You'll have to try them both. I'd bring the triangle one to a party though. Omg, yes, it finally happened. March 2023, 1 cheese section to rule them all. This location put all of their cheeses in one spot, right around the corner from the main Market section in the wine area. Now you can browse all of the different cheese at the same time. Cheese explosion. Stand in front of it, admire it, take cheesy photos in front of it. Pub Cheese, the Combozola and Buffalo Cheddar are my picks for formage. The korean bbq ribs in the frozen section will knock your trivia game night out of the park, and put your place on the map as THE party palace. I also like the fact that you can find some bacon and salami without nitrates or any preservatives. That's definitely a huge plus! Parking... eh, the only Trader Joe's that I found that has unlimited parking is the one on Fallbrook and vanowen. But who wants to drive all the way out there every time. So if you're willing to deal with having to wait for a spot sometimes, any Trader Joe's will do. The trick is to try to go early in the morning when they open, till just before lunch. Then there's another small window between 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. where you should find an easier space. After 4:00 p.m., till they close, good luck. read more

I love Trader Joe's! Trader Joe's has been around since 1967, and as a national chain of neighborhood grocery stores you should be familiar with them. They offer a vast collection of private labeled stuff; there are no brand name items so if you're looking for your Coke products, Dorito's flavors, Tyson Foods chicken, Wonder Bread, you will not find any of that. I've never had any issues really with service or products, and the lines at most stores are always maintained well. There's always someone around to ask something about if needed. The return policy is pretty great, if you don't like something or if there's something wrong bring it back. --Products-- From fish, meats, poultry, various produce, dairy, frozen foods/items, snacks, booze, flowers, several beauty/personal items, and grab and go items, you'll find all you'll need. I'm a fan of everything they have to offer..seriously. But here's some of those items I'm a fan of: -Snacks: olive oil seasoned popcorn,  dried chile spiced mango, flaxseed and veggie tortilla chips, nacho cheese tortilla chips, coffee bean blast ice cream -Frozen foods: tamales, wild and uncooked Argentinian red shrimp, Indian garlic nan, Thai shrimp gyoza -Produce: Bananas, apples, bagged mixed greens, sweet potatoes -Meats & poultry: ground beef, burger patties, ground turkey, chicken legs, the various flavors of chicken sausages that they have --Location Specific-- This location opened back in 2008. I believe its larger then the next closest location in the SFV, which is in Encino (which I actually avoid). I like how this store feels large with its high ceilings and things are spaced out. For the wine and beer lovers, there's a great big space sectioned off just for those. Parking is easy as there's a good sized lot here. Staff is friendly and gets the job done. read more

This is also not an ordinary TJ market because this is a wine shop as well. The wine selection is extensive. I miss this store! I used to live nearby and honestly the staff here made grocery shopping an experience to look forward to. I haven't been since the pandemic but there used to be a gentleman in the wine tasting section that always put a smile on my face and come on you get to taste delicious wine or beer while getting groceries! I would suggest trying to come before or after rush hours as it does get very busy here and parking can be a mess. This is a much larger Trader Joe's and everyone here is pretty helpful. My review is solely based on my checkout experience. I normally have a great experience at TJ but today i had a cashier that did not acknowledge me for 1 second because her and the bagger were too busy discussing Taylor Swift. I did not get a hello... no eye contact, not even a thank you or goodbye. I literally did not get acknowledged. She was so busy with her conversation that as soon as the transaction was over she grabbed my receipt and tossed it in the trash. Without asking me if i even wanted my receipt. And looked at the next guest. Worst checkout experience ever. At least LOOK and speak 1 word to the guest you are checking out. Absolutely ridiculous. read more

Amid the pandemic it's been a lot of work trying to get into a Trader Joe's. I could technically cut the line and use my healthcare worker badge which I appreciate, but I feel bad doing that and go to another store when that happens. Yesterday morning at 10 am I was lucky enough to catch no line! I picked up my favorite La Colombe draft latte in a can and a salad for lunch. You can never go wrong at Trader Joe's for your needs, big and small. I have been shopping at this store for years. Earlier this week I was approached by a staff member regarding my service dog. He repeatedly asked if me if my service dog 'was really a service dog' and proceeded to call him a 'pet' after I had corrected him multiple times. He then demanded I tell him what issue I have that the dog provides service for - I do not need to disclose my health information to a random store worker and there are existing laws to protect that. He repeatedly told me I did have to disclose this until I eventually pulled out my services dogs certification - which by law, I do not have to present. The staff member proceeded to walk away to loudly and unprofessionally complain to his coworker about what just occurred. I have been to several Trader Joe's locations and I would say this location is my favorite so far. The parking lot is very spacious where you have room to go in an out your parking space without running into another car. They also have a parking attendant that directs cars at the entrance to keep a steady flow of traffic which is a plus. As most Trader Joe's locations, it is very crowded with customers. Not this location. This is one of the less crowded locations I have been to. You can shop freely without bumping into other people unlike some of the other locations. My favorite part of the store is their large wine area which takes up about 1/4 of the store space. They feature a great selection of wines and dedicated wine staff to assist you with any questions you may have. The staff here are very friendly and upbeat.
