Pleasantly surprised. This is not a "coffee shop-esque" place, despite the menu reflecting more of that coffee shop type array of choices. It is a bit of a step up and ingredients seem fresher and less preservative laden than the typical brunch spot. I would like to see more vegetarian and healthy options but there are few that work. Not a fan of fried food and the menu seems to lean towards Mexican inspired fare. It would be great if there were some more places that catered to more vegan and healthier palettes but it does seem to be doing well. Went there for breakfast. Cocktails worked and were decent. An option in the neighborhood but not a place I would "crave" and think about having to go back for anything specific. read more

Uhm, I'm in love! The best new hidden gem in our beautiful beach city. The staff was not only friendly but mindful and alert, checking in when needed. The atmosphere is open and refreshing. Trash food. Spent almost 50 bucks on Uber eats for a chicken fried steak that was literally frozen and deep fried and they put brown gravy over the steak and mashed potatoes not white gravy which is what everyone puts on it. The meal was very substandard! read more

Tradewinds Cafe and Bar is an amazing hidden gem! It was my first time here and I came for breakfast around 9:30 AM. It was clean, they had nice music playing and the first thing I noticed was how nice it was inside. It's a little small but they have ample seating and it's not a place where you might feel cramped together if it were a full house. They let us pick our own seating and we sat near the window which had a beautiful view of the harbor. The service was amazing, we got drinks and food ordered as soon as we were ready. I ordered the crepes which came with two slices of bacon, country potatoes and eggs. It was honestly the best breakfast I've had at a restaurant in a LONG time, the bacon was perfectly cooked along with the potatoes which came with nice big slices of bell peppers which I love, unlike most places that serve country potatoes with sad small teeny tiny diced bell peppers. The crepes were delightful too. We were checked on multiple times throughout our visit, and when we were finished our table was promptly cleared and the check was delivered. I would love to try Tradewinds again for lunch and dinner, maybe even just for a drink at the bar, which might I add was really nice! read more

First time at Tradewinds Cafe & Bar and absolutely loved and enjoyed the food and the location. I am a customer of Masarap Lumpia and once I heard that their lumpia's were on your menu immediately knew needed to make my our way to your restaurant. We started with the Jalapeño Popped Lumpia's and the avocado rolls. For the main dish I had the chicken piccata with the calm chowder side absolutely delicious! I loved that the food / dinner servings are a perfect size dinner serving. The food was at a perfect temperature to enjoy. The service was great and I loved the menu choices. There's a great choice selection something for everyone and the menu pricing is just right. Definitely looking forward to return to try your breakfast. read more

I came here for dinner for the first time. I was excited to try it since it had good reviews. I must say that if I am going to pay $40 for a meal I expect it to be good. I ordered chips and guacamole for an appetizer. The guacamole had black spots, the 25 stale tortilla chips came in a white serving plate serving plate. The salsa was so watered down it did not stay on the chip! The meat tacos were marginally ok. I feel bad for the owners because this can be a nice place. Someone needs to spend some time cooking decent food. I don't see this place doing well in the future. Most likely will not be back. read more

We wanted to try a new local place for burgers so ordered a few items to go. Good salmon and bacon avocado burgers. However, order was initially given to us only as a cheeseburger. My wife and I had dinner here a few days ago. We definitely will be back and have added Tradewinds to our list of go to places when feel like going out. The harbor setting is serene and beautiful, parking is good and it is easy to get to from Camarillo. The prices are VERY reasonable. I had Ceviche, Fish and Chips and Clam Chowder (all excellent but the chowder ranks among the best I've had anywhere), and the Green Chile Enchiladas and One Way to Phoenix drink my wife ordered were great too. So we took my mother-in-law to dinner here for her birthday. We were excited because we could walk to it from her home. Really hoping it would be a new haunt for us. Unfortunately, no. Although the atmosphere is nice, the food was, in our opinion, overpriced, lacking in flavor and portion. We ordered 2 starters: chips and guacamole and ceviche. We had to ask for extra chips as not enough were provided and both dishes were bland. 3 of us in the party ordered dinner entrees and only one of them came with a soup or salad option. This seemed very odd considering they were all under the "Chef's Specials." I had the salmon with broccoli and rice--bland and skimpy portion. My daughter and her boyfriend ordered pasta--not enough pasta in each dish. My husband ordered a patti-melt on sourdough--it was brought on rye. My mother-in-law ordered a Chef's salad--hers was probably the best overall for both flavor and price. Service was decent. Everyone was very nice, but I had to constantly ask for my water to be refilled when the server would ask for sodas to be refilled--it wasn't offered at the same time. I believe this place has the potential to be good, if they can work out these deficits, but as for now, there are other places to go that have better tasting food, portions and prices. If you really want to try this place, I recommend going for happy hour since the prices are better on some of the food offerings. read more

We just had brunch at Tradewinds Cafe, and it was wonderful. Julio, the owner, greeted us and was so kind and friendly. Monze, our server was lovely, friendly and the service was terrific. We ordered huevos rancheros, a club sandwich, a hamburger and eggs benedict and everyone shared an order of pancakes. DELICIOUS!!!! It is so wonderful to see a local neighborhood restaurant thriving. Ocean vibe (think sailboats and surfing not corny fake fishnet and wooden seagulls) then throw in some old Miami floral print upholstery and boom! great start to a wonderful dining experience. I stopped for a martini a couple of weeks ago just to check the place out. The bar was full with an attentive bartender who was already acknowledging several of her customers by name. Customers were chatty with each other recommending food and drink options. Remember, this was soft opening and not a lot of time yet to develop relationships. But, I was so impressed with the ease and friendliness. Welcome in and welcome back is an obvious mission of the business. This morning I treated myself out to breakfast and yum - so glad I did. Traditional breakfast of eggs, hash browns, and bacon. All were incredibly tasty and presentation was very eye appealing. Rounding out my experience was Umberto my waiter - friendly, happy, engaging smile, great service. Julio, the new owner, stopped by, introduced himself, and welcomed me. So appreciated his attentiveness. Every staff person was busy the entire time I was there regardless of whether they had a table to serve or not. I wanted to try this place because of the reviews. We went yesterday afternoon around 4:30. My husband and I were the only ones there for a short while. Fran (who is so sweet) took our drink orders. My husband's wine came out quickly, however my mixed drink took much longer because the bartender was "having technical issues". My husband ordered the rib eye and shrimp and I ordered the cheeseburger. My husband's meal came out first and it was cold. Fran returned it to the kitchen where it was remade. My meal came out about 10-12 minutes later. If my husband hadn't sent his meal to be heated, he would have been almost finished with his meal when mine finally arrived. Too say we were both underwhelmed with our meal would be an understatement. My burger was a frozen patty that looked similar to a fast food burger. My husband's ribeye was also a disappointment. The manager came by our table and I expressed our disappointment in the meal. She wasn't much help and told us to come back and try the breakfast. Fran was much more understanding and appreciated the feedback. Thinking about it now, I'm not sure if we will return, which is a shame because we would love to support a local place. The restaurant itself has everything it needs to be a great place to go, pretty inside, nice bar, good happy hour, on the harbor. The downfall was the food, which is so unfortunate. read more
