I went out to lunch today with some longtime high school buddies--a tradition we've kept going since the 1990s. We usually get together once or twice a year to celebrate birthdays, catch up, and reminisce about the old days. This time, we landed at Trainwreck Saloon in Westport. It had been at least five years since my last visit, so it was nice returning to a familiar spot. I ordered a Schlafly Pale Ale along with a Mushroom and Swiss burger with clean fries. The service was friendly and efficient, and our food arrived about 10 minutes after ordering. The burger was cooked perfectly, and the fries disappeared quickly at the table. Between the good food, cold beer, and great company, everything really hit the spot. We come here for work Happy Hours and date night with the BF. The vibes are always chill and laid back. They usually have a live band playing on Fridays which is a plus. We usually sit at the bar or in the bar area somewhere. We love Sydnee & Kelly, if go ask to be seated in their section or if Sydnee is working the bar ask her to make you a Oatmeal cookie shot. That's my new favorite shot. Sydnee makes magic happen behind the bar and believe you me that's NOT an understatement. The alcohol selection is limited and even though they have a cocktail menu something told me to veer off the menu and ask. Always ask a bartender what is their favorite drink to make. Sydnee can definitely pull a trick out of her hat and surprise you with something creative and delicious. Sydnee and Kelly are super friendly and beyond helpful, even when the bar gets backed-up and they are swamped they still make sure your needs are being met and that everything is OK. Sydnee really takes the time to listen to you and understand what you like, she even recommended some delicious food options for us which are now are staples. Our go-to staples are the fried cheese curds with marinara and a side of ranch. They are served hot-n-crispy with a nice cheese pull and flavor. They are served with marinara but Trainwreck has some amazing homemade ranch that goes with EVEYTHING!!!! We also love the gouda burger with bacon, medium well. The burger has a nice charbroiled flavor and the gouda take sit over the top with the large strips of bacon. A burger done right. We order ours with their homemade seasoned fries and dip the fries in ranch of course. Another can't miss item on the menu are their signature wings. They are seasoned to perfection and deep fried crisp, but you know we have to ask for extra crispy. The wings stand alone on their own but that homemade ranch sets them over the top. We had a great time at Trainwreck in Westport. They were a perfect option for a next stop after 360 bar, much more appropriately priced haha. The vodka mules were good, we got a turkey wrap and the ribs which were the caliber you'd expect at a bar. Our waitress was busy so service was slow. We also noticed ourselves waving our waitress down more than once while we were there but really nbd. It was fun because after 9pm they were playing live music with a cover band. We've been patrons off and on at this location for many years. It has always been consistently mediocre but it's close by so we still came back occasionally. Tonight was an absolute game changer. Everything felt different in a much better way. The service was excellent and our food was really good. The menu is similar to the old one but they have legit daily specials and the food preparation was excellent. (The old daily specials were the same everyday, and not very special.) A manager stopped by to see how our meal was. This had not happened in a decade. I asked him what had happened! He said they have new ownership. It's now owned by the same folks who have been restoring Westport. We sat outside and the vibe was great. Lots of families in town for tournaments. The landscaping is now beautiful. So if you're like me and had just about written this restaurant off. I implore you to give them another chance. It is truly all different now! read more

Came here on a Friday night 20 minutes before they stopped serving food. It was a live band playing and you could barely hear anyone sitting next to you. We ordered quickly before the kitchen closed. Walked in and we're greeted by the hostess who seated us promptly in a booth off to the right. When you come into the restaurant there are high tops and a stage directly in front. Off to the left is more booths and dining area. This place was packed, loud and hustling. People shoulder to shoulder. We were seated and given menus our waitress come by for our drink order. I had a margarita and my husband had a Bacardi and Coke. We ordered the wings, shrimp, half rack of ribs (giant portion). Good was on point. Those wings YUMMMMMMM the drinks however were very light. While out in Westport, my friend and I decided to visit Trainwreck for dinner. We were seated right away and while I would have preferred to sit in a more secluded spot, the only tables available were in the middle of the floor. Our server was really busy and had quite a few tables so it took her a bit to get to us. We ordered our drinks and then took some time to look over the menu before ordering. I ordered a chicken sandwich and it was fine. It was a little tough to chew so I think it may have been overcooked, but I used dipping sauces to help with the texture and flavor. The fries were good though and crisp/fresh. Not sure this is a spot I would visit often, but it was decent for a quick meal on a busy weeknight. read more

A number of tables seated well after us received their orders before we did. One of the excuses our server gave was that some of our party had ordered their burgers well done. Seriously? Our server was amazing! She was very attentive and helpful. The wings here are great, I'd highly recommend their "wrecked" wings, which are similar to a "trashed" style in other places. Never have been to either of the Trainwreck restaurants and I now wonder why! Congenial vibe in a comfortable airy setting. Noise level easy for conversation even with a roomful of people. Lots of parking for ease of access. Our waitress started out very accommodating but put us on ignore a couple of times. Waited a while for our food but when it came was happy with choices. Went there twice this week and there was ONE priority: prepare for closing and get out as fast as possible regardless of the customer. First night I was there my server's first words to me were "you have until 8:40 to order food". 2nd night I watched a "bouncer" tell a family of 5 not to bother coming in at 9PM. Keep in mind, it's still sunny and 90 degrees in St. Louis at this time. Met friends at the Trainwreck at Westport. Westport is doing A LOT of construction right now. Everything looks different, but there aren't really any problems with getting around. Trainwreck is located close to the middle of one section of Westport. It's less than a 3 minute walk from the large parking lot. There is also a garage, IN ADDITION to the parking lot. Plenty of parking and very easily accessible. Adrian was our server. She did a phenomenal job! Adrian is incredibly friendly and helpful. Was very helpful when sharing about the selections on the menu. Adrian did a great job keeping my Pepsi filled. I didn't even have to ask! As soon as it was empty, she was right there with a refill. I had a hamburger with soft cheddar cheese. Very good! There were many options for the one side to go with my burger (seasoned fries, coleslaw, veggie slaw, potato salad, or cottage cheese). For a $3.00 upcharge could also select from sweet potato fries, jalapeno slaw, baked beans, mac 'n cheese, tater tots or a side salad. Since I splurged on the hamburger on cheese, I got a side salad. The burger was 1/2 pound!!! Was huge. And they didn't skimp on the cheese. Important to note if this makes a difference for you: the buns are ciabatta. A different texture than traditional hamburger buns. A friend of mine got the Spring salad. She had salmon added. It looked very good. She enjoyed it and said she would definitely order it again. The Trainwreck was more crowded on a Monday night than I expected. For a bar/saloon, it was remarkably quiet. I generally expect a bar/saloon to be relatively loud. The Trainwreck was not. This could be partially because it was a Monday night and while it was busier than I expected, it still wasn't full. But I think it was also partially because the actual bar and the dining room are physically separated. There is a partial wall between the areas that would serve to keep a lot of the sound from the bar out of the dining area. The wall also allowed the dining area to be fairly well lit while the bar remained darker. Had a great time. Will return soon and next time will bring other friends. read more

My favorite restaurant in the area so far. I highly recommend the Wreck It Wings. The rub by itself is already tasty, but I'd recommend trying one of their sauces too. I really liked their bbq sauce even though I normally hate bbq sauce. Restaurant looks like an old school diner. My waitress was very pleasant and got my food out pretty quick. Some of the best wings you'll find in STL! Their Buffalo wings always hit the spot and you MUST try the trashed wings. I'm also a huge fan of their Bison burgers, whether it be the mushroom burger or create your own. You really can't go wrong with what you order here. Even the salads are tasty.
