    Bun rieu

One of my friends picked this spot for lunch, so I was down to give it a try. They serve a mix of Vietnamese dishes, but to be honest, nothing really blew me away. Bun Rieu - Served in a stone bowl, which looked cool, but the broth lacked depth. Bun rieu usually has that rich tomato and crab flavor, but this one felt a little watered down. It wasn't bad, just not as bold as I like. Bot Chien Trung - Crispy and had a nice crunch, but it was missing that addictive savory bite. It's a simple dish, but I've had better versions with more flavor and a better sauce. Bun Dau Thit Luoc Mam Tom - This was probably the best dish of the meal. The shrimp paste sauce had that strong funky kick (in a good way) and paired well with the crispy tofu. The boiled pork was standard, but everything together made for a solid bite. Service was great--the staff was friendly and attentive--but the food itself didn't really stand out. Maybe other dishes hit differently, but from what I tried, it's not a place I'd rush back to.

We came for lunch and ordered Bun Cha Ha Noi and Bun Bo Hue. Food took awhile to come out. It was like 25 minutes or more. But food was really delicious. The broth in Bun Bo Hue was super hot and tasty. The pork belly and meatball were not dried and cooked perfectly. The restaurant was spacious and decorated nicely with bamboos all along the wall.

Overall I love the ambiance here, the decorations are really vibrant and the sound level is perfect with soft music playing in the back. I got 3 dishes here, 1 was excellent, 1 was ok, and 1 was subpar. 39. Banh beo steamed rice cakes - this was my favorite. The seasoning was perfectly balanced between salty, sweet, and savory. The shrimp was excellently cooked and the blend of scallions and fried onions was great. 3. Bun Bo nuong, Grilled beef noodle - the steak tasted more like ground beef than a steak. Overall the taste was good, but the balance between the ingredients wasn't great, not enough steak relative to vermicelli and veggies. 46. Oc Huong Nuong Bo Toi, grilled escargot in garlic butter - taste and seasoning was fine, but the escargot itself was rubbery and had sand and small rocks in it. Definitely would not get this again. Service was fine but doesn't factor into my rating. My rating is just for the food.

Cute restaurant in Little Saigon with a huge variety of traditional Viet fare! I think it recently opened so they're still getting into their rhythm as service was a tad slow but very friendly and helpful. I like their creative plating ideas: a faux basket plate for their Bun Cha Hanoi and piping hot stone pot for Bun Rieu. Really good portions, good seasoning and prices are reasonable. Definitely order the fried flour cake cubes for appetizer- nice crunch and delicious!

Flavor of the food was good but portion was tricky. The com tam pork chop was soooo small and thin compare to the usual. I believe that they get 1 small pork chop and slice it in 3 thin layer. It was so simple with rice and salad. The bun wasn't much meat n noodle but a lot of veggies. I was eating more like a salad. The service and ambiance were good. I don't think I'll come back.

Solid Bun Rieu 4/5 Pro's - They definitely don't skimp out on the greens! Original -Uniquely served Noodles are plated separately which is a great way to cook your noodles to your preference! Soup comes outs out piping hot in a ceramic pot. Proteins - justified portions Cons- the pot is kind of small which may lead to difficulty in slurping up the perfect bite. Their broth is definitely on point, their mam Tom sauce bottle is very light which may take some time to alter the taste of the broth. Free beverage offered with yelp check in.

Authentic food here! I love the ambiance of this place. They decorated the inside nicely. The service was excellent. I asked a lot of questions about the difference sauces and my waitress answered them all and even made recommendations. What I liked most was the very reasonable prices. I came here to eat the bun rieu. The broth and meat is served in a hot bowl. The noodles and minty greens were on the side. This bun rieu tasted almost as authentic i wanted it to be. I thought it cocould use more deep flavors but the different greens really gave it that burst of freshness and made it more addicting to eat. My husband got the 10$ pho. He said it lacked flavor but the price was great. My favorite was the bun dau mam tom. That was very delicious. The sauce was good and it felt very refreshing to eat! I'll def be eating here again!

Excellent service from friendly family owned staff. Charming pseudo rustic restaurant decor. Food is good, the classics are dependable with some interesting choices in the mix like the street food offerings. Prices are very reasonable. Will return!

Food was ok. There are so many options on the menu but the flavor was just so so. Service was good and friendly. This place is quite big and spacious but not too busy.

This little Vietnamese mom-and-pop restaurant feels like eating in someone's home kitchen--in the best way. Menu is just as solid--fresh vegetables, balanced flavors, nothing greasy or overdone. No frills, no hype--just honest, delicious food that leaves you full but not sluggish. Exactly what I want in a neighborhood Vietnamese spot.

Yesssss I give this place 5 stars. So happy with the menu, the food and the price was fair. Nice decor of bamboos haha. First time here from friend recommendation, and I definitely give thumbs up. See photos. They are in plaza, next to supermarket.

The chicken was crispy and the dipping sauce gave it that extra yummy goodness. The dish also came with a side of broth that had chicken bits in it, was nice to help digest your dish. I also loved that they gave you pickled veggies & fresh veggies. We also ordered the Loi's Fusion Saltado, upgraded the rice to garlic egg fried rice. The beef was soft and tender, the fries were nice and crispy and the fried rice was fresh. You 100% need to get the Thai Tea. A lot of place add too much cream/half and half diluting the tea flavor, they do not skimp on the actual tea in their drink. The color speaks for itself on the dark orange hue!

Not sure if it was just that night or if it's how their rice is always cooked, but the rice was on the drier side so I had pour soup on my rice or else it was too dry. Service was okay. I would give them another try. Maybe for their noodle soup dishes.

If that bit of consistency doesn't speak volumes I don't know what will. Oc & Lau specializes in Vietnamese street food and essentially works in family style dining. Everything is brought out in platters & large bowls where food is shared amongst the table. The menu is filled with Vietnamese salads, snails, assortment of seafoods, rice, noodles, and hotpot. Vegetarian options are available. As if the menu isn't extensive enough, there is a whole section of drinks- alcoholic & non alcoholic. Ingredients are always fresh and the quality is on point. My complaints stem from the restaurant ALWAYS being "sold out" of the razor clams and the stir fried basil clams coming out soupy and off tasting to what they normally should taste like. Not too big of a deal once you factor in all the other great qualities Oc & Lau has. The pricing is costly and the portions can be small depending on what you are ordering. Things add up quite quickly since my family and I eat to get stuffed. Lmao. 5/5 stars because a trip to LA isn't a trip to LA without visiting O&L!!! I'll forever be a fan!!
