so, this review is based off of my second experience with trans one. i'll just start from the beginning. so, if you read my first review on them, i was blown away and very impressed, hence my hiring them again. this time, the actual moving again went very well, minus the movers being 15 minutes late and not calling us to let us know...not that big of a deal. once they showed up, they got right to work and were very careful with our items and all of that. no worries there, they were very efficient and eased our worries. i was told they would arrive at our house at 8 am and start the clock from their door in san carlos and end the clock when they returned to san carlos after finishing the job. they showed up at our place in sunnyvale at 8:15 and finished at our new place in fremont at 10:45. at the end of their time with us, they charged us $350 which i handed over, trusting that they had done the appropriate calculations. a few days later, i was thinking that that amount sounded like a little much, and i did some calculations and realized that we should have been charged $332.50. yeah, i'm cheap. get over it. ;) i calculated that they would have left san carlos at 7:45 am in order to arrive in sunnyvale, which is 30 minutes from san carlos, at 8:15 am. also, they would have arrived in san carlos at 11:15 am after having left fremont at 10:45 am. that calculates out to be an hour of driving time plus 2.5 hours of moving time. with the new figure i came up with, i called hector and voiced my concerns. he immediately got very defensive and said that his movers did get their on time, pretty much saying that i was lying, and that he charged me a fair price. after i explained to him the calculations, he agreed to send me a check for the $17.50 i was overcharged and told me to stop calling him. well, almost two weeks later, still no check so i gave him a call to see what was up. he told me he would ask his secretary (uh huh...) about it and that he'd call me the next day. the next day, i hadn't heard from him and still no check in the mail, so i called him again. he said she sent it and i should get it in a few days. by this point, i was so fed up, that i said if i didn't get the check in a few days, i would be happy to report him to the BBB. he got so pissed off at this comment that he said HE would report ME because his company had information on me...and then he went as far to say that he would report me for using drugs while his movers were there. WOW. this dude has some issues. i'd rather not deal with him anymore, but if i don't get the check in a few days, i'll have to go to the BBB. i definitely want to warn you guys against dealing with this company. they started out great, but this Hector guy ruined it. I did some research on the company, too, and apparently they have been cited for not using insurance or not being bonded. beware!! UPDATE: he just called me cell phone at 10:30 pm on a Saturday night. Very, very unprofessional and starting to get extremely creepy. read more

Hector and his team helped me in my move from San Mateo to San Carlos, CA. The entire moving experience was very nice. I called up Hector a week ago and gave him info about my tentative plan. As I did not confirm him on dates, he told me that he'll call me first before taking any appointment for that day - which I really liked. Once I confirmed appointment , He sent two guys and they were on time in the morning. Both of them did a good job . They carefully handled all my furniture and also used blankets to wrap them. They did not waste any time and finished in around 3 hours for door to door move and loading unloading. I recommend them to everyone. read more

We hired these guys after all the positive reviews, we scheduled them to come @ 2:30pm and they came at 3:15pm. They didn't even bother to call to let us know they would be late. The estimated price they gave wasn't what they were going to charge me. I had to call the manager again to adjust the price. Also, they weren't very careful when moving large items, they left prints and scratches on our walls. read more

Please beware that professional these guys are NOT. Hector estimated not to exceed 11 hours of move with 4 movers and contracted to do the job. After showing up one hour late they did not bring any tape or boxes!! The guys were friendly and nice but not professional movers. They pushed larger items on the floor causing pieces to chip away a leg...but claimed it was already broken. Well, given the quality of equipment and people, they could only do 2/3rd of the job. And then simply walked away from the job saying they were not interested in rescheduling...knowing full well the urgency of the move. Scrambling to find replacement and the extra cost is an experience you would want to avoid. You are inviting disaster if you have anything larger than a shoe box to move! read more

Used Trans-One to move two pieces of furniture from the Peninsula to Berkeley. Hector (the owner) estimated 3-3.5 hours and wrote on contract that maximum charged would be 3.5 hours. He and his worker arrived 10 minutes early, were very efficient, and moved the furniture carefully. This is my third time using Trans-One Moving & Delivery Services and every time, the price has been extremely fair, the owner totally accommodating, the staff completely professional and the move as smooth as you could hope for when moving. My moves have never been easy for that matter, A LOT of stairs, heavy items and the movers never show signs of frustration, irritation or slowing down. They always have a great disposition and even though the charge is based on an hourly fee, they truly NEVER slow down. They hustle the entire time. The last 2 moves we have had Johan and Byron as our movers and we absolutely love them! They honestly never stopped and kept such a good disposition the entire way through! The owner always goes out of his way to ensure he meets the needs of his customers and is an absolute pleasure to work with! In fact, one of his employees made a comment about what a great boss he is and when employees speak so highly of their boss and comment on what a great person he is to work for, it makes me all the happier to support the business and want to share my experience! Hector and his helpers were great. I had 3 guys and 1 medium truck. My one bedroom move in the city took 4.5h and Hector even helped out (making it 4 total). They were very careful about not scratching the floors and placed boxes carefully on the floor. They even got my heavy sofa up some narrow stairs. They do charge portal to portal, but this move was so much better than my last horrible experience, I didn't mind. They also take personal checks. read more

I agree with all the reviews on here. Hector and his guys are the BEST!! They were running a little late but called me ahead of time to let me know. Originally Hector quoted me 3.5-5 hours to move my one bedroom apartment from 2 pickup locations (a storage unit and a home) to the new location but once I said I could only afford 3.5 hours he agreed they would get it done in that time. Turns out they were even faster and completed it in 3 hours!!! I hope I don't have to move again anytime soon but if I do there's no one else I will use. read more

I hired Trans One 4 different times in the last 12 months. We used them for smaller moves (storage runs) and also larger moves (two houses). They do not disappoint! Hector is incredibly easy to work with and very responsive over email. I have found him to be very fair; his rates are highly competitive and he runs a tight ship. All things I appreciate! His guys are beyond amazing. Not only are they very polite and conscientious, they have got to be the most skilled movers on the planet. I have seen them in action many times and they always blow me away with their super human strength. They are extremely hard working - they do not stop, even for water. Like another person posted, I have gotten them lunch on two occasions and they won't touch it until the job is done and, even then, I think they only eat on their way to the next job. The most amazing thing I witnessed was when they moved our entire bedrooms suite (including a king mattress) into our attic master bedroom. Narrow staircase and a complicated turn. I guarantee any other movers would have given up but, not Trans One! They folded our mattress like a taco, tied it tightly, and finally got it. Their determination was incredible! I highly recommend Trans One if you are looking for super heroes with a magic touch. read more

I picked these guys based on other reviews on Yelp and this was absolutely the best moving experience. After having been ripped off by scammer movers years ago it was extremely refreshing to deal with an honest no-games business. I requested a crew of 4 at $100/hr just like they advertise on their site (the best price per man-hour if you do the math). They showed up promptly at 8am and got to work. They work quickly and efficiently (it so happened that another family a few doors from us was moving too - they were paying more than $140/hr for a crew of 4, and those guys, apart from taking smoke breaks, were also slower due to having a less modern truck). When everything was done, I paid the agreed on price, no hidden fees or gimmicks. Do keep in mind that they start the clock from the moment they leave their San Carlos office - I expected that and it seems fair to me. I will use them again the next time I move, easily. read more

These guys are amazing! I can say that I am pretty much an expert when it comes to moving. I have relocated across country twice and moved 7 times in last 10 years and we are a big household (3-4 bedroom and large amounts of furniture and art). I have used local movers to very expensive corporate relo moving companies so I know the quality of movers in a wide spectrum. These guys are amazingly strong (Guillamo who may not even be 5' tall is one of the most skilled and strong person I have ever seen), professional, careful and work fast. Well worth what they charge. They come with clean large truck and know how to wrap, carry, load and stack. I've used them twice and I tip the guys more each time because they work so fast and they work so hard. Hector is very nice but the first time, he was a little fuzzy about time and rate. But, after I pointed this out, he immediately recalculated and gave me credit for the next move which I set up a couple of days later. So, make sure tThese guys work hard, so have some bottles of water and light snack (like apple) ready. They will so much appreciate it. I highly recommend them. read more
