Went for father's day weekend. Normally i have a great experience here. Tonight was no exception as far as the food went. HOWEVER, my wife has a shellfish allergy and the waitress forgot to ask if anyone at the table had allergies as did the chef, to be fair to them this is the first time that has happened to me there. CHECK YOUR BANK STATEMENTS after the fact, i checked my account a bit after going and what should have been a roughly $250 (with tip) bill ended up being $454.93 on my statement. I am not sure if the party of 5 and our bill got swapped or what happened. EDIT: Called them and they immediately credited back the money with no hassle. Changing to 4 star. I was very disappointed with both the food and service. We were there to celebrate a Birthday I spoke to the manager about the birthday and he so called set up the Happy Birthday celebration. Unfortunately like almost every thing else fell apart and it never happened. The soup was served warm and didn't have taste very good cold. I sent it back and when we had hot it tasted great. The hot soup and fried rice was the best part of the meal. The cook's skills was way below average. I'm basing that on the many Japanese steakhouse I've been to. The cook dropped a piece of steak on the table on almost every person he served. He was very good with the salt shaker which explains why my Chicken and the vegetables were overly salted. Went thier last night to celebrate my Best Freinds BDay i had the steak and chicken with white rice the meats where cooked perfect with just enough seasoning they also gave me some shrimp.and fries rice. My plate was packed high. We also had 5 shots each of some lemon drops. I think each time they made us a drink the weaker it was but thats OK it got us home safe . I would highly recommend to try this place . And I usually dont go to these places to eat. Ambience was cool. It's set up like an oriental bonsai garden inside including a wooden bridge over a stream. Other than that tho the service was not good and food was just ok. I have no idea how this restaurant has 3.5 stars currently but that should have been my cue not to go. Went at opening with my friend we were the only people in there for a good 20 mins before the waitress came to take our drink order. A group of 4 came in and they were seated by us also. They take everyone's food order, we didn't receive our hot tea pot but the other group got 2 of them. We then asked for our and the waitress was annoyed. I was confused because it comes with your meal but whatever. We sat there an hour before the cooking started which was crazy to me. We only went bc we were in the area. The food was not good at all, it had no flavor. The fried was was mediocre at best. The chicken was rubbery, the veggies were a bit burned. I barely ate anything. They tried charging me for shrimp & chicken when that wasn't what I ordered it was a bit of a hassle to get fixed. Go to Sapporo Steakhouse in University Place or Tokyo Steakhouse in Federal Way you get more & delicious food at both. I won't come here again. Complete waste of time and money read more

My first time trying Samurai and I really wanted to like it as my brother has been raving about it.. But... I did not have a good experience. First off, I went to the bar to get a drink and the bartender wasn't nice. I had asked if we could pay at the bar and she said yes then turned around and ignored us. Confused as she didn't even give us the total, I had to ask how much the total was. I tipped her in front of her face and she didn't even say thank you. I should have taken my tip back as her service was subpar. Our server was extremely nice and answered any questions our party had. She was kind and helpful throughout the whole dinner. The chef was kind as well. The food was a lot more on the salty end, every single item. My whole party agreed. Sadly, my fried rice had the chef's hair in it... I was quite disgusted and I said it decently loud yet the chef ignored my comment. Already upset with the bartender, the overly salty food, and the hair in my food, I wasn't having a great meal. Samurai's prices are quite expensive as well. The restaurant itself is nicely decorated and has a calm ambiance. But with my current experience, I won't be coming back here. read more

We have been frequent flyers for a while but this last visit was very different. The portions were SO MUCH SMALLER than they used to be, also tasted very different. I order the same thing every time and this last time was not my fav. I also was very disappointed in the business as we have always used military discount and this time they said only retired or active duty. I felt very offended for my spouse as he is a disabled veteran and did just the same work and served the country just as a retired or active duty did. If they aren't going to honor all types of military personnel with some sort of active ID then they shouldn't honor that discount at all. It was very offensive. Like come on.... Food is what you'd expect from a Japanese Steakhouse, although our chef REALLY needed more practice with his tricks...I don't think he nailed any of them. Please be aware also, they FORCE about an 18% tip and call it a "Service Charge" that cannot be removed. Also be aware that they will charge you for a no-show. They put a $100 hold on my wife's credit card when she made the reservation...and after 2 weeks they still had not reversed that charge, forcing us to go back there today to get them to reverse the $100 charge. After my last experience there on 2/27/25, they have permanently lost a customer!!! read more

This is a over priced restaurant. We went there 10/5/2023 for my daughter's 35th birthday. Her, my granddaughter and brother got food poisoning with explosive diarrhea. I had a really bad allergic reaction. The food was salty and not very appetizing. For 330.00. That was way to much to pay for diarrhea and 2 days of recovery. Eat there at your own risk. #THANKYOUTHURSDAY Going out to eat these days (like actually SITTING in a restaurant) is a huge luxury that I'm not taking for granted... Who knows if we'll revert or go into another shutdown, ya know? The couple of Japanese steakhouses we normally visit nearby home are still doing takeout and delivery only, but Samurai's is open for dine-in! We've had a couple friends recommending them for YEARS so we decided to make a reservation and drive the 45 minutes to give them a try and have a delicious dinner. The inside of this place is stellar! So cool. Great for a date night. You'll notice it is very much fitting for COVID-19 with barriers between the grills/chefs, and there is wooden barriers in between seats as well, only allowing groups of 4 to sit un-barriered. They definitely went above and beyond to not only make it look decent, but stay safe for today's world. Masks are required when you're moving about the restaurant (not when sitting) and the staff wears themselves along with gloves. The chef still made things as fun as possible, but they aren't allowed to do as many cool tricks for safety with the barriers, as they were expensive, and breaking them could be very detrimental to the business. They still make it fun, though! The food was fantastic. Absolutely fantastic. Not sure if it was because I've been craving Japanese steakhouse food or because I had gone on a long hike that day and was extremely hungry, but MAN this meal was great. I've literally been craving the zucchini that they make for MONTHS! It was so good, and the chef was so nice and gave me extra when I told him I was pregnant (better believe I ate it all, too). The fried rice was amazing - better than the normal places we go. I got the steak & chicken for the main portion of my meal. The meat was a little lower quality than other spots, but still good. Another highlight was the MUSHROOM SOUP at the beginning of the meal. Best one I've had anywhere, my goodness. Great experience and so thankful for the staff at Samurai's for making my Japanese steakhouse dreams come true after so long and keeping everybody safe while doing it! read more

This is our favorite place to go for bdays. I am a little disappointed our party of 7 couldn't sit together but understandable because of covid. The rice, I would take that hour drive just for that!!! We did decide that we will be driving up here for the soup and rice and yum yum sauce for one of our family game nights. So worth it. This was the first time for my family but my husband and I go with our best friends for our bdays. My family was NOT disappointed. They loved everything about the place. My salmon texture was like cardboard I couldn't even eat it . I asked for a side of garlic butter they said no. They asked if we wanted white rice or fried I said fried they charged me and my daughter 10$ extra to fry the rice without letting us know . Flavors were bland . The service of the waiters are terrible . I rarely even write reviews but That was the worst salmon I ever tasted in my life. They charge way more then they should. Came here for my birthday with my mom and sisters! I think the ambience is really fun and cute, but the food is just okay. The price is really reasonable, but all the meat and veggies taste the same as everything is cooked with the same oil and sauces. Also, I ordered the steak and the cut of meat was just "okay". There was quite a bit of fat on it that was inedible and you are not given a knife to cut those bits off, only a fork.
