We absolutely love Trapper's Sushi! This is the perfect date-night spot for sushi lovers and day of the week. The staff is always very helpful and kind. This location can get really busy after 5pm so call ahead. I've noticed some of the wait times at other locations can be over an hour which is disappointing because then we end up going elsewhere. My go to rolls are Crystal Shrimp (discontinued), Bonney Lake, California roll with no cucumber or avocados on any of them. I know I'm a basic, bro lol. Then I add a side of Gyoza to top it off. These are the kinds of meals that I genuinely get excited for and can't wait to get home and eat them! Somethings that I didn't like was, they stopped allowing orders over the phone, and they only allow orders through the website. However, the website is limited on what can be edited on the rolls. As I mentioned above, I'm basic and don't like cucumber or avocado on my rolls, and it does not allow me to specify no avocado, no cucumber when placing an order online. So I still have to call the store and specifically asked them to make a custom note for my order. Additionally the User Interface on Trappers website makes it hard to scroll through to find what you like. read more

My family has dined at Trappers many times...today we ordered some pick up...and spent over $100 here. First, We did not get everything we ordered/paid for and was shorted 2 orders of edamame. I tried to call only to get an answering machine. We also only got one small portion of ginger/wasabi...although we asked for it with every role AND requested extra ginger at time of pick up. The rolls seemed extremely small- and an order that typically fills up the family- left us un satiated...and unsatisfied. #WASTEOFMONEY read more

We used to frequent the Trapper's in Silverdale/Bremerton before the location closed/moved ... we are a Military family and moved away and haven't been back in a few years. We were SO excited to visit Trapper's again when we moved back to the area (Lakewood) and, of course, nervous that they would have changed a ton or that their quality would be less great, but there was no need to be! I came in with a friend on a weekday evening to do the AYCE bar - it was surprisingly slow and we were seated almost immediately. The staff at the bar were jovial, kind, and welcoming. Our server was quick and wonderful! We got a drink, ordered our food, and got going ... everything was phenomenal - as always. The quality of their cuts of fish are not diminished just because it's an AYCE menu, which is one of the things I greatly appreciate about Trapper's. We LOVE some sake nagiri/sashimi and they did not disappoint. We got several rolls, some gyoza, and seaweed salad. Normally I'd get miso soup to finish but we were so full and satisfied, I am not sure where the soup would have gone. :) As always, we had an absolutely wonderful experience at this Trapper's location and we're inspired to return soon! read more

Unfortunately my veggie roll came with a layer of cream/mayo inside the roll that I didn't see described, so I couldn't eat it. I absolutely hate mayo. We ate here without any planning or reservations and were able to walk right in during happy hour on a Sunday. The place wasn't too packed but it did seem like they needed help, like all restaurants these days. I have to admit that every time I eat here I am overwhelmed by their menu. I feel like there should be some table with check marks that shows what rolls have what. They're all so similar with the same ingredients in one combination or another. I couldn't remember what I ordered when my food came but it was delicious and we ate it all! Ordering the happy hour special (3 long rolls for $33) is a great deal! I highly recommend joining the rewards club if you plan on dining here regularly. Sushi in Tacoma doesn't compare to Seattle however I'd make this restaurant chain a staple due to their consistency and freshness above their competition. read more

Pretty nice atmosphere and very good service but my only issue was that I felt the rolls didn't have much fish on them. Particularly the Puyallup Roll needs more fish in it. My favorite here, so far, is the Mountain Roll. That one was a 10/10 read more

The Good- Location and cleanliness. Plenty of seating available, proper COVID measures, etc. The Bad- Freezing cold inside. A lot of rolls have the same ingredient, crystal shrimp. Just a dwarf version of an actual shrimp. Cheap and tasteless. Would love to see more smoked salmon, cod, tuna options. All you can eat with limited menu options a turn off as well. The Ugly- I know they have to cover the brand name and high overhead, but 12-19$ a roll for 5-8pcs is just not a god value. Again, I've seen the same thing at other Trappers with the exorbitant amount of rice in the rolls compared to other sushi places. 3 rolls and a drink for $47 is crazy. The Skinny- All in all, I probably wouldn't go to this location again. I don't live in the area and the prices are a NO from me. Much more reasonable options out there. read more

My visit here was horrible. I came here with my friend to do the all you can eat as we usually came in but this time the server was so rude. Throughout our whole time being they kept getting more rude and it felt like they wanted us to leave for no reason. And when it was time to pay they were so tip greedy to see how much we would tip. First off tip is optional and second tip should be based off the service not being you want to get as much money in tips as possible. Food wasn't bad but service wise absolutely horrible. Come for the Happy Hour sake and AYCE lunch menu! For those of us who are quite gluttonous when it comes to eating out, this is a great sushi restaurant to really indulge yourself. We really enjoy coming in for happy hour to enjoy some hot sake at the bar as we wait to get seated for All You Can Eat sushi. Rolls to order again and again: -Smurf -Drama -Mt. Let's start on a positive note. The actual flavor of the rolls was great. Fried gyoza were good. Let's talk about the REALLY needs improvement. A roll shouldn't crumble apart when picked up. Cucumber salad had zero flavor. Edamame was cold not even warm. Customer service really lacked. After our rolls arrived we had to wait on wasabi and ginger while our waitress decided to chat it up with her coworkers. Very unpleasant experience. We made a reservation online so it was nice and easy. Food was delish and plentiful. Had to ask our server to bring my ginger 3 times but that was my only complaint. These days I'm moreso leaning towards sushi places that serve true, authentic sushi. But my girlfriend wanted to come here, and if I'm being hoenst with myself, sometimes you just want some heavy-duty Americanized sushi rolls with crazy ass names because YOU JUST WANT THEM. So why the hell not? When we got here for lunch, we were trying to figure out why the sushi bar was super full but the tables were empty. Turns out the bar's all-you-can-eat and it's $18.95 for lunch. Made it fairly easy to decide to sit at the bar, and luckily for us two seats had just cleared as we came in. I'm definitely past the days where I can mow down three full rolls like it's nobody's business. But at the AYCE price, even ordering two rolls means you're getting your money back. Regardless, I don't think I would've minded paying full price for these rolls. Definitely some of the larger rolls I've had at an Americanized sushi restaurant and they do not skimp at all. My inner self is screaming because I ate all this rice, but eh sometimes you gotta treat yourself. Service here is fantastic from the host to our server and the sushi chef that handed us our food directly. No complaints from me! Parking situation here is...not great. We were lucky to find a spot in the very tiny parking lot behind the building. Odds are though you'll have to find street parking. Although not my usual cup of tea anymore, I wouldn't mind coming back here. It's hard to leave disappointed from a place like this. read more
