Gyoza
Brandon P.

This is our 4th visit to Trappers and it continues to be delicious. We had the whole family time so we ordered Yacht #1 which includes the California Crunch, Bonney Lake, Puyallup, Trapper rolls and two orders of Goyza! At the top of the picture is the California Crunch (Spicy crab, teriyaki & avocado rolled in tempura crumbs.) Very light and a nice balance of flavors. The next one down in the picture is the Bonney Lake (Crystal shrimp with cream cheese, fried in tempura, covered with spicy crab, teriyaki & hot sauce.) The group was divided on this one. The spicy crab seeming like BBQ pork and then a simple hot sauce. I actually enjoyed the texture differences and the familiarity of the hot sauce. The next one down in the picture is the Puyallup (Salmon, avocado & cream cheese fried in tempura topped with a special sauce, teriyaki & green onion.) This was my least favorite of the food tonight with the special sauce being very mayonnaise heavy, in my opinion. It just overtook the other flavors. To the far left and far right was the Mt. Si, (ordered separately and not a part of what is included with the Yacht; Smoked salmon, apple and cream cheese, topped with avocado and sweet chili sauce.) We order the Mt. Si because it was and is our favorite. The balance between the sweetness and tart of the apple, followed by the sweet chili sauce is just excellent. Lastly is the Trapper. (Crystal shrimp covered with spicy cooked scallops, teriyaki, green onion & masago.) People were divided on this as well saying the scallops over powered the other flavors. I enjoyed the texture differences again but would ask for less scallops as the other flavors are lost, in my opinion. The shishito peppers were and are still a big hit. The kids also loved them with the sauce. A perfect amount of breading providing a great little crunch. The Gyoza, were fried perfectly with a perfect crunch. The edamame were simple but good and well salted. The kids teriyaki chicken meal with rice and apples was perfect for our toddler. The atmosphere was friendly and welcoming. Whether it be for a date night or dinner with the family, you will be good to go! The service and staff were all kind and professional. 3*** = Good but no separation from similar restaurants 4**** = Set themselves a part and their food is different and I want to go back. 5*****= You have to go out of your way and make a special trip to try the deliciousness that is there!

Always a fun time sitting at the bar and getting all you can eat! The chefs tonight were very nice and fast! Mr Charlie - we liked it but want more fish in it. More of a fried taste and less fish STP -yummy and creamy Sounder without cream cheese -I liked it but my sister wasn't a fan Thrill -my sister loved this one but it was a bit too spicy for me We finished off with some nigiri Albacore -best fish of the night! Salmon -it was average. It was kinda tough Jaysin -it was good Tuna -good Water had a weird taste so we got the green tea which was really good!

Walked in at about 12 noon. The person at the hostess stand was super friendly and was helpful getting up to the sushi bar for the all you can eat sushi. We got sat and a waitress came right over so we could order drinks and explained the process for lunch and the all you can eat or the option to use the dinner menus for the all you can eat. The vibe in the place was super cool. I usually get lots of pictures but the staff was very interactive o helping us since my friend had not had anything other than California roll. I did get a picture of Tyler with some sushi and I will for sure be back.

Might just be our new sushi spot! We walked in on a Thursday afternoon with no wait and were immediately greeted and seated. Our server was super welcoming and helped introduce us to the menu since it was our first experience dining there. She mentioned their happy hours and specials (we actually ended up doing the 3 for 33 which was a great deal)! The service was fast, the rolls were great and the drinks were really yummy. I can't wait to come back for another sushi night.

My experience here was ok. I wanted to try the all you can eat sushi but it was limited to the bar and they couldn't accommodate more people so that was disappointing. The sushi was good. The cocktails were ok. Service just ok. Pretty average overall.

This was reallly WET. I'll give it a 4/10

I can tell you that I love their food. It is so delicious that I want to go right now.

I recently came here with my uncle to enjoy some sushi and Thai curry. In the west valley of…read morePhoenix in the City of Surprise, finding either of these food items is limited. This place seemed like our best bet. Since this time of year is busy in AZ with so many snowbirds, I booked a reservation through the online portal. It didn't end up being necessary. We were seated right away and never asked about our reservation. The restaurant is located in a strip mall. From the parking lot, it looks small and more like a fast food place, but it is actually looks double the size once you get inside. It has a nice sit-down ambience with new, clean, and somewhat rigid booths. Straight posture was definitely encouraged here in these upright seats. Although it does seem like a lot of people might order items to go, we were shielded from any traffic while eating. To start, we shared some sushi rolls. The spicy salmon was nice, but I really liked the sweetness of the unagi eel roll. They were a little sloppy in preparation, but this didn't impact the flavor. Each plate came with 8 pieces of sushi, some sliced ginger, and a small ball of wasabi. My uncle asked for an additional plate of wasabi and the server delivered it, but he commented on how they usually end up throwing it away because most people don't eat much of the green ball of fire. The table had a container of disposable chopsticks as well as two types of soy sauce. I was delighted to find the 50% less sodium variety with the green label. small plates with one paper napkin each were part of the setup. We had to ask our server for more napkins after my husband splatter soy sauce all over himself. The server brought just two more. It really wasn't enough to fix the 101-dalmatian spots he had acquired from the black soy splattered all over his white jacket. We also ordered curry. My uncle indulged in the pumpkin curry with shrimp. The bowl was massive - much bigger than mine. I had the red curry with tofu. It was beautifully presented with perfectly formed cubes of extra firm tofu lined up in the yellow soup. There was also bright red strips of bell pepper adding a pop of contrasting color. Unfortunately it didn't seem like my curry was well blended. It was as if they added cold coconut milk to a hot pan and it possibly heated up too fast causing it to separate and slightly curdle. Despite this, it still tasted good. I did have some trouble with the large size of tofu and the length of the bell pepper strips. I wish both had been just a tad bit smaller to fit in my mouth. I only had a spoon, so cutting the pieces wasn't an option. To go, I ordered the spicy green beans with shrimp to take home to my mom. She enjoyed two meals out of it. The shrimp was large and plump. Plus there was no shell or tail to pull off making it much easier and more pleasant to eat. Our bill came out to just over $100 with iced tea and sake added to the above. It seemed reasonable for the five plates we ordered. We had come during happy hour where certain items are a dollar cheaper, but I don't think we ended up ordering off that discounted menu. All and all, it was a decent meal and experience. I might come back here because of the convenient location and the availability of both sushi and Thai curry on the menu.

We took advantage of their happy hour, which is one of the best values around. We ordered the Tidal Wave Roll, the Shrimp Tempura Roll, and, of course, our all-time favorite, the shishito peppers. The peppers are consistently flavorful with just the right amount of char, and they're a must-order every time we visit. The sushi was fresh, beautifully presented, and packed with flavor. The Tidal Wave Roll was a standout, while the Shrimp Tempura Roll delivered the perfect balance of crunch and freshness. The atmosphere was welcoming, the service was attentive, and the happy hour made the experience even better. It's always nice to return to a restaurant and find the quality and consistency are still there. We'll definitely be back again!

Food.. great presentation, good time order to table. However, for the price, it was lacking quality and flavor. Portion sizes.. leave a lot to be desired. I would have liked larger portions for the price. These had a ln interesting aftertaste, almost like wasabi powder for spice. There has been a bit better value for the money in other places.

We started with the Ahi Tuna Crispy Rice, which was perfectly crispy with fresh, flavorful tuna on top. We also ordered the Hamachi Sashimi, which melted in your mouth and tasted incredibly fresh. For sushi, we had the Sake Roll and added the seared miso butter, which took the salmon to another level and was one of our favorite bites of the meal. The highlight of the night was when Chef David surprised us with one of his specials: seared yellowtail. It was absolutely incredible--lightly seared, buttery, and packed with flavor. If it's available, don't hesitate to order it! For our signature roll, we tried the Harumi Roll. It was good, but after seeing and tasting more of the menu, we both agreed we would probably order the Yellowtail Trio instead next time. To pair with dinner, we had the Montepulciano, and it was an excellent choice. Smooth, flavorful, and a perfect complement to the sushi. Harumi continues to be one of those places where the quality is consistently outstanding. Between the fresh fish, creative dishes, and attentive chefs, it's hard to make a bad choice here. The restaurant itself is definitely on the smaller side but they also have outdoor dining as an option. So once we finally decided on our choices everything came out fairly quickly even with there being a half full restaurant.
