First time I ate at Trappers. Food and service were amazing. Staff was super friendly.

I ordered online around 2:30 for a 4:30 pick up time. I was 15 minutes early and my food was already done. This made me question how long has this order been sitting there? The hostess replied, I think it just came out a few minutes ago. When I got home it was sitting there since I put in the online order, it was nasty, cold, and disgusting! I wouldn't recommend ordering early online. Fresh is the only way to eat sushi, in my opinion. read more

Tried this place out for the first time today with my mom and daughter. Everything was fine until we went to eat, when I opened my chopsticks, one side at black spots all over and after looking at it, realized there was mold on my chopsticks. My mom handed me a new pair from the vacant table next to us, and when I brought this to our waitresses' attention, she kind of blew it off and made me feel like I was making it up.. even while showing her the moldy chopsticks. There wasn't really any empathy, she seemed stressed out or maybe having a bad day. Paid $40 for mediocre food. Won't be coming back. read more

We've been wanting to eat here ever since this venue opened. We liked the idea of their All You Can Eat dinner option, but decided to change things up since we came during the Happy Hour. We ordered Gyoza for an appetizer, which was tasty, the miso soup as well. The soup was good, but the tofu in it was cold. We then ordered a Trump roll without cream cheese and a Skywalker roll. Both were excellent. We also ordered a California Crunch roll that was very good. We finished up our meal with the Mint Chip Mochi. It was the first time we've had mochi and this was disappointing- very bland. Although we liked the gyoza, sushi rolls, and the happy hour prices, our sever was subpar and service was slow. She seemed bored and distracted. It wasn't very busy when we arrived on a Wednesday night at 5:30 pm. It was nice to be able to make online reservations with Google. We plan to come back for lunch next time to try their Bento Box lunch. Hoping for better service. read more

very disappointed always drive by and was tempted to try. honestly food has no flavor for 24$ a steak plate I expected some flavor but nope. Samantha roll tasted like burnt rubber. miso soup was hot water and some tofu missed target by a mile. service was ok no sense of urgency or customer service. Really good deal for all you can eat sushi. My husband is a huge sushi fan & loved the sushi here. He said it's one of the best he's had in comparison to other restaurants. I'm less of a sushi fan however I did have some rolls and they were able to accommodate my avocado allergy! The sushi chef we had was super nice & entertaining the whole time. You do have to sit at the bar for all you can eat. Personally wish there was a few more different small plate options on the all you can eat dinner menu since everyone in the party has to do the all you can eat. I've been patiently waiting for this place to open and after waiting for a bit for it to get its bearings and iron out the new restaurant kinks my sister and I decided to meet for lunch today to check it out. We arrived right at 11 and were greeted right away when we walked in. They asked if we'd like to do the AYCE sushi at the bar, but we opted for a table with a regular menu to try out more options. One of the best things about the place is it's bright and clean inside. The decor is nice. Our server came over shortly after we sat. We ordered a few waters and green tea as well as some edamame. They had some decent specials for lunch; two rolls for 18, bento boxes etc. I opted for the Samantha Roll which was pretty pricy at $23. It consists of lobster, tempura avocado , scallops with spicy garlic sauce. Then torched and drizzle with teriyaki. All which sounded delicious. I also ordered an Uncle Stevie which is a smaller roll with spicy tuna, green onion, jalapeño and masago. My sister had a California roll and.... One other roll I can't remember at the time. Our edamame was cold and not steamed very well doused in salt, but edible, our rolls came out soon after and looked decent, but not the quality of other sushi spots in the valley. After a few bites I can say I was not a fan. No real flavor on the Samantha roll and it was falling apart the second I tried to pick it up. For being so expensive I expected better. I know it will sound harsh, but fry's sushi is better. The California roll again basic and rice overdone. The Uncle Stevie was probably the one I liked the most, but still sub par. A lot tasted like imitation sushi. Service was great. She answered all of our questions and refilled our drinks. For the price I would've expected better. After tip I paid nearly $50 for myself. I'll stick to my usual. Bummer. read more

I love Sushi, but it's one of those things you don't want skimp on, as quality over quantity counts. Freshness is everything and the chef's technique matters immensely. It's why I try not to eat it when I'm ravenous, as it can make a huge dent in the wallet! So terms like "discount" or "all you can eat" raises caution or even red flags in my book when referring to sushi. Still, I decided to try this place after a friend told me about it. I was really in the mood for fresh fish and when I walked in and noticed bright and clean it is, I felt somewhat reassured. The staff seems young and not Japanese, so I was not really expecting much as far as technique goes, but the fish displayed right in front of me at the bar looked really nice and as I watched these youngsters do their work. I realize that this was probably a definite step up from some of the conveyor belt type sushi places I've visited in the past. It was Happy Hour this afternoon so I took advantage of all you can eat deal and ordered several different types of sushi over the next hour. Everything was fresh tasting and flavorful and the portions were well done not cut too small or too big and that makes a difference when eating your yellowtail, salmon, tuna, etc. I had 2 of their specialty rolls, really enjoyed them. There was a teenaged athlete sitting next to me obviously a regular ( they have a rewards program of sorts) and I must say he impressed me with his large variety and quantity of selections... they must of lost money on his bill as he really packed it away! Not impressed by this location either. We sat at the bar for AYCE because we figured why pay $15 for a roll when you can pay $30 and get more than two? Sitting at the sushi bar is usually fun for me because I like watching the sushi chefs use their skills to make the sushi. This time it was a curse. There were probably six people behind the counter and four others running around doing to cooking. It was pure chaos. Raw being tossed from one station to the other, raw fish being cut near the fryers, and never saw a single person change their gloves. Right when we sat down a guy took my husbands sushi order. Didn't ask me for mine and got to work making his. Warning if you do AYCE there are rules: 1-order only 2 rolls at a time per person 2-if you order nigiri expect baseball portions of rice and you get three orders at a time. So 6 pieces. 3-you order sushi from the people behind rhe bar. Your drinks and apps from your server. 4-only one app per person at a time. No one explains this to you until you ask. They should have a sign on the sushi bar or a menu insert. Well anyway. Still sitting waiting for someone to take my sushi order. The gal said to me my server will be here to take my order. At this point I've already ordered my app and drink. Husband received his sushi. Ate a couple pieces and the server asked me if I wanted anything else and I said yes. I'd like to order my sushi. Then the gal from behind the corner stumbled and asked me for my order. Finally got some sushi about 20 mins later. The sushi was just okay. Lots of the same thing just slightly different things. If you want true sushi don't go here. I feel it's more of a place to go if you're new to sushi? To end the night they charged us for 3 AYCE for the 2 of us. Simple fix. But the "manager" who was supposedly here from another location training people just argued with the employee in front of us. Just fix it and talk to your employee on the side. No need to argue with her and another staff member in front of the customer. She made a small mistake and mixed our ticket up with the three people next to us. In the end. Went here for lunch and ordered sushi off the lunch menu (2 rolls and miso soup). The sushi was 95% rice! Have been here a few times when it was first opened and the sushi was never like this. On top of this my order was charged $12.00 for one roll and $9.95 for the other. Not even worth it. I got better sushi at Safeway next door. Very disappointed. The waitress was nice. read more

First time here and what a gem! AYCE for $30 per person (happy hour til 6pm and it's $5 off). Quite a big selection of rolls to choose from which is nice. They only allow you to order one roll and one appetizer per person at a time but the moment the roll hits the table, you can order your next one. We had rolls coming the entire time we sat which wasn't at all what we expected. The Lemonade was realllly fresh and sushi was delicious. Read some reviews about the fish not being fresh but we didn't have this issue. Brand new place, friendly staff and cool atmosphere. 10/10 recommend. Go see Sarah! read more

We've eaten there and gotten takeout and both have always been great . The bar with the big window facing out is very enjoyable as well especially when the weather is nice and the window is open. Food was definitely above average quality but not great great. zero hate just not above average sushi though it is a solid deal for the unlimited dinner price of $30, so since I can't give it a 3.5 and don't want to give the restaurant 3 stars stick at 4 stars for this restaurant. All employees were nice, they could be way quicker about everything going on from seating to eating, it's slowish but it's a freshly opened place so gotta give the staff some time to improve so service can't be a 5 and definitely isn't a 3 so the staff friendliness being on point service gets a 4. All in all there, trapper is nothing to write home about but nothing to complain about either. I'll prob go back. read more

Our waitress was spending the majority of her time with another couple. We had to beg for water and when it came out it had black mold in it. Thinking from the ice. Our appetizer had long hair in it. If it was just one thing then we would have overlooked it. There is a strong lack of attention to customers and details. Maybe we will go back in a couple of months. We enjoyed this place. It would have been helpful to know about their AYCE deal beforehand though. I didn't see it on the menu (apparently it's a different menu?) and our waitress didn't mention it until after we had eaten. Definitely would have saved us about half our bill if we had known. The sushi was good, portions were smallish, we ended up splitting five rolls between two of us. Our favorites were Samantha and Skywalker. It's a brand new space, cute and decorated well, but wow the lighting is SO aggressive! I seriously felt like I was in an interrogation or prepping an operating room. I counted because I'm a nerd and there are over 65 lights in the little dining area! I think it would really help the ambiance to tone them down a notch or ten.
