First tried Trappers when stationed in Washington and was happy to see an Arizona location. Great selection. Great quality. Well worth it.

We dined yesterday for a late lunch. We arrived at 140pm. It was not very busy. There's was 1 table of people and then just the sushi bar where you can get all you can eat (ayce) for $20. You can also chose the dinner ayce for $30. However, if you dine 2-6, you can get the dinner ayce for $25 vs $30. The server for the sushi bar where we dined was friendly & never let us run out of our drinks. The sushi chefs were considerably slower than any sushi restaurant I've dine. It's not because they were busy but stood around and talked just talking while working. I mentioned it multiple times to my husband as we sat there just waiting for food. The food was all wonderful, I must add. Between the 2 of us, we ordered 2 orders of gyoza (3 pieces per order) which were great & flavorful, 2 miso soup which tasted as expected, 1 crystal shrimp which1the sauce on that one I prefered, 1 shrimp tempura which was very tender & my favorite of the 2 shrimp choices, 1 spicy tuna roll which tasted like green onion/chives and wasn't labeled as ingredients or I would not have ordered it. I couldn't do it so I spit it out & we did not eat it. I hate waste but wouldn't have ordered it if I knew it would have a super strong green onion taste. 1 mountain roll which had a lot of different fish & great flavors. 1 rainbow rolls which was good. 1 Timmy roll which was probably my favorite. We loved everything except the spicy tuna. We aren't from the area & just visiting but would return if in the area again. 1 thing that I'd like to note for whoever needs to hear it, I wanted to order the Mr ranier but was told they were out of scallops. Interesting how as we were finishing, they started cooking a whole flat top full of scallops. It gave the indication that they were just too lazy to grab them out ofnthe walk-in and cook what people wanted to ordered, and that theory solidified with how slow the sushi chefs were as they were more worried about standing there talking than making sushi. This is not a quick trip as you'd expect an all you can eat establishment. It's great food but just know it will be super slow. read more

I wish I could give this location more stars but I can't :/ My husband and I have been in here atleast 6 times since they have opened this location and EVERYTIME we've come here the service has been incredibly slow... like only 3 rolls in an hour and a half kind of slow. We always come for the all you can eat because we LOVVVVVE the sushi here but it's not worth coming to this location because EVERYONE is too slow. The Glendale location is much better. Even when the bar is PACKED everyone works so quickly to o get everything out to you on time. I love the ambiance here and the sushi but even if no one but you is in the restaurant it might take them 30min to make your roll. Also the customer interaction at the sushi bar is non existent. No one said hello or asked if we had been here before like they do at the other location... there is only ONE guy who is amazing at customer service. Went right before happy hour on a Wednesday and they said it was a 25 minute wait. The ambiance was clean and cute, loved the music they were playing (gen z). We did the 3 for $33 happy hour special, good deal. We got the rock n roll, monster, and Buddha-licious roll. My friend liked the Buddha-Lucious, but the other rolls were just okay for our preference. My friend also got the passion fruit sangria and she didn't like it, watered down and lots of fruit pulp. I ate at this place for the first time and I always give a review, so others know what to expect. I ordered Tempura vegetables and shrimp appetizers, a rainbow roll, a lobster roll, Miso soup and edamame beans. I was very disappointed in the amount of fish they use on their rolls. Rain bow rolls should have the 3 types of fish wrapped down the sides not just a piece on the top of the roll. I couldn't tell but I want to say the crab meat inside was imitation crab meat. The appetizers, Miso soup and edamame beans are all over priced for the amount served. The Miso soup had "A" piece of tofu in it. This place will definitely catch the Highschool kids on dates, but I won't go back. I'll take my chances in getting better sushi at Fry's Market place, made by authentic Japanese people. When I moved to Arizona a couple of years ago, I knew the business I would miss the most would be Trapper Sushi. For several years, I enjoyed an all you can eat lunch as a reprieve from my busy life. Was I ever surprised to pass a Trapper Sushi while exploring the White Tank Mountains one day and from then on, I knew I could relive those memories from the past. A Total 180 - From Disappointed to Blown Away! Boy, did I have this place all wrong after our first visit. The first time we came, we didn't even make it to the sushi--the appetizers were such a letdown that we left unimpressed and unsure if we'd ever return. The jalapeño poppers and potstickers we tried were bland, underwhelming, and honestly not worth ordering again. But we decided to give it another shot, and thank goodness we did! Once we finally tried the sushi rolls, everything changed. The Trump Roll, Volcano Roll, and Vader Roll were absolutely phenomenal--fresh, flavorful, and beautifully crafted. Each bite felt like a surprise in the best way. If you're a sushi lover (or even just sushi-curious), this spot deserves your attention. The quality of the rolls rivals some of the best sushi places we've been to. We'll definitely be back--but we'll be sticking to the sushi menu. There's no doubt that the kitchen shines when it comes to rolls, but there's definitely room for improvement on the appetizer side of things. Overall was delish! I personally don't eat fish or seafood but I love the idea of sushi and rice so I was pleased to see a lot of veggie rolls on the menu! I got the Smurf which was a tempura mushroom roll and boy was it tasty. The sauce with it was full of flavor. I also got the zucchini roll and the asparagus roll. Both were really good but the zucchini was better than the asparagus. My hubby got the trump roll and the monster. The garlic sauce for the trump had a lot of green onions (not listed on the menu) which my hubby was disappointed with but he really enjoyed the monster. He liked the eel on top the most. Looking forward to going back to have the Smurf and zucchini roll again. I would challenge them to add a buffalo chicken roll to their menu ;) that is my fav thing at squid ink and would love to see something similar on other sushi places menu. Mainly giving a 4 star because the customer service overall could be improved. Creating a memorable experience is ideal and I feel like the waitress wasn't focused on providing that kind of service. My wife and I along with some of her work friends came here for Friday happy hour. During happy hour they have a 3 rolls for $33, half off all drink, and half off all appetizers. Pretty good deal overall! We shared 3 rolls - they were okay. I'd like rate the rolls a 3.5/5. We also ordered sushi tacos, those were surprisingly very flavorful - 4/5. And we got a couple beers all which were pretty well priced. The waitress was very attentive to all our needs and all the food and drinks came quick and without any mistakes. The location is pretty spacious, with both large and small tables. They were able to accommodate our group of 12 very easily. I stopped by to have lunch. It was around 1pm so the "rush" should have been over. I had spine surgery two weeks ago and am in a back brace. I have to watch how I sit and standing for long periods hurts I was informed that there was a 15 min wait, even with open chairs and that the sushi bar was the ONLY location for the all you can eat. I've eaten here twice. The first time was right after they opened and it was terrible. I thought I'd cut them some slack and try them again later - WRONG! Still terrible!! I ordered a dragon roll for pick up. When I got there I waited and waited in the curbside pick up spot. Finally, I called to see what was going on. The woman who answered the phone said, "wait, hold on" and then promptly hung up,on me. So, I went in to get it. She was so confused, ugh. Just finished dinner at Trapper's Sushi, and it was fantastic. I ordered the teriyaki steak, my husband had tuna nigiri and a California roll. My teriyaki came with miso soup, cucumber salad, rice, and tempura vegetables. I can honestly say that this is the best teriyaki I have ever had. The steak was tender, super flavorful, and plentiful, the cucumber salad was sweet with just a touch of spice, the soup was perfect, and the tempura vegetables were crisp and light. The sushi rolls are on slightly smaller size compared to some other places but still decent sized and very tasty. We have tried several of the rolls and found everything to be fresh and tasty. Friendly staff. Been treated quickly and well in both visits. The All You Can Eat sushi sounds like a great deal but since the seating is extremely limited (bar only) there is never space for it (really poor setup). The place is very nice inside it's new so it's bright and clean. I don't really understand why they still haven't taken the plastic off the TV but some people just have no attention to detail and basic aesthetics. They also have the cords hanging out from the TVs which I don't know how in the world you build a new place in 2024 and don't know how to properly hide cords and plan for the TVs that you were gonna put up in the first place . Again the place is brand new so how did you not plan for this???? But some owners just don't understand the importance of making things look good and done correctly. Our drink server was a bit exasperated with us, which was uncalled for. Despite her, the rest of the staff were very friendly to our party of four. They were patient even when we didn't understand AYCE sushi and how things work there. The food was absolutely phenomenal and totally "instagram worthy," if you will. Are you Gluten Free?? We've went 4 times and I loved it there first 2 times all caution and full explaining happened, 3rd time not as much, but it was take out so I leave some room for miscommunication there. 4th time was so disappointing... The rolls are amazing and fresh. I truly love it at Trappers, but more training is needed for servers. I've noticed some are very knowledgeable about gluten free, others not so much at all. Today was awful as I was served a roll with tempura and a roll with onion crunch or something?!? There was a definite crunch when I bit into it! It was delicious, but unfortunately will make me sick. Our rolls were all mixed up as well so what I clearly ordered as gluten free, being specific about not having tempura, anything crunchy and to use gf teriyaki and gf soy sauce. My rolls came on 2 different plates, plated with non gluten free rolls. Gluten free food should ALWAYS be served on a separate plate, failure of kitchen and the server who should be checking the order prior to serving. I ate one piece and quickly caught the server and let her know... I don't know her name as I was also not offered a receipt. The way it was handled was- "The kitchen messed up" as she labeled it Celiac (she said they had selective reading and laughed) It's not a joke, it truly makes me sick, for extended periods time...not funny. She also said I can keep the rolls incorrectly made... (The ones I can't eat...) I also got to wait again for my food to be made, I went to Safeway while the rest of the group ate.
