I wish I had a before-and-after photo to show how much Abby Lauren transformed my hair! I…read moreoriginally went somewhere else for highlights and walked into Lalo with bleached, broken hair. I have naturally dark hair with dark root touch-ups, and at that point it was a mix of orange, brassy highlights and multiple tones. Abby Lauren and Bobby explained that I basically had 3-4 different colors in my hair -- some highlights had been toned, others hadn't. Instead of lightening it further and risking more damage, they focused on restoring my hair's health. They added some beautiful money pieces, recommended an emergency treatment, and gave me a much-needed haircut. My hair had so much breakage it looked like a little rat tail, but the cut completely transformed it! After the treatment, my hair felt thicker, stronger, and healthier. And can we talk about the vibe? The energy in the salon is amazing -- everyone is upbeat, the music is great, and you can even sip on a cocktail while you get your hair done. It's truly such a fun, feel-good experience from start to finish. I'm so happy to have found a salon that not only cares about hair health but makes you feel fabulous while you're there.

I have been going to Salon Dacota for the past few years and have never left feeling anything short…read moreof amazing! I primarily see Valla--who is talented beyond words! She always listens to what I want and makes it happen in the most flattering way. I trust her to the point that if I am in a hair funk, I let her do what she wants. As usual, I walk out looking amazing. I have seen several other stylists for hair and make up for special occasions. They have all gone above and beyond and made me look amazing. I get so many compliments on their work. I also want to speak to the integrity of the salon. The customer service has always been stellar. Every stylist I have seen has listened to what I want. The thing that sets them apart is that they make suggestions that will only compliment my face shape and skin tone. They want the client to leave feeling beautiful on the inside as well as the outside. I have always been a "salon hopper". I would like a cut or color from one place but then the next time not be as happy. I have never had the consistant results and happiness until I found Salon Dacota. Now, I will not trust anyone else with my hair! Thanks for being so awesome!

So I absolutely love Salon Dacota. I have been going there for quite a long time. Love the people…read morethat work there. Great atmosphere. Great products for hair. If you are just going to get your hair cut, they will do an excellent job. My sister also gets her hair dyed here all the time and leaves perfectly satisfied. Unfortunately, what I would NOT recommend is coming to get a balayage treatment done. I have never dyed my hair in the past and decided to do something different for a change. Having coming from Manhattan, I was intent on trying something different for $200 as opposed to $500. I figured with balayag being a very trendy style right now, the stylist had to have a ton of practice. After all, It is pretty hard to mess up -- especially when I show you a picture before hand. When I came in, I was completely brunette. And when I left I did not have a balayage (where my brown hair would gradually turn into blonde) but on the contrary, I was completely blonde with dark roots. Really not at all like a balayage. In fairness, my hair is extremely long. And thick. The appointment itself took 3 hours. I feel that the error came from both lack of experience and also management of time. We ran 30 minutes over into the next client's appointment (poor thing) and I felt like it was a rushed job. She didn't end up actually styling my hair because she ran out of time. I suppose a little of this is on me because I should have ensured she REALLY LOOKED at the picture. I was like here's the picture. She very quickly relied "oh I totally got it! I can do that" This was several months back and the reason I write about it now is because I now am having to pay almost $500 for a color correcting and CORRECT balayage. Moral of the Story: salon dacota is great. Just not for balayage. If you are wanting to do that, splurge and go somewhere that specializes otherwise you may end up paying more. Hope this is helpful!

The vibes are immaculate and my stylist Caitlin is so talented and is able to decipher my every whim and request. I genuinely do not like leaving bad reviews, especially because I've been coming here for almost…read moretwo years, but today was quite literally my final straw. I've gone here consistently since moving to St. Louis for haircuts, root touch-ups, color, all of it. I also truly do not care who I'm assigned to. I'm not one of those clients who needs one specific stylist every single time. I just expect basic communication, decent service, and for my appointment to actually make sense when I arrive. Coordination! Unfortunately, the vibe here has always felt off The front desk is rarely welcoming. Half the time, no one greets you, acknowledges you, or makes you feel like they are happy you're there. The energy can feel very cliquey, dismissive, and honestly kind of performative. It gives "we're all a family here," but somehow the client is not included in the family. I've overlooked a lot because I liked the actual hair services. I've waited 30 minutes past my appointment time before. I've had appointments moved around. One time, I was sent to the Webster Groves location, got there, and was then told I actually needed to go to Des Peres because they could not take me. Like...okay gas?? But today was what officially did it for me. I booked a root touch-up before a photo shoot tomorrow and a trip next week. I sent pictures and a description of what I wanted directly to the stylist beforehand. I've also had this exact type of service done through this salon multiple times, usually for around $250, so this was not some random mystery appointment. I arrived and waited around 30 minutes to be assisted, only to then be told it would cost over $400. And to be very clear, I am not asking anyone to lower their prices, undervalue their work, or change their hourly rate for me. Charge whatever you charge. That is fully your business. My issue is: why was none of this communicated nor coordinated before I showed up? You had my appointment details. You had the pictures. You had my description. You had my client history from the past two years. If the service was now going to cost almost twice what I normally paid, or if I had supposedly booked the wrong category, somebody should have figured that out before I arrived, waited 30 minutes, and left with absolutely nothing done. Even the stylist seemed surprised by how I had apparently been charged or categorized during previous appointments, which honestly just made the whole situation feel even more disorganized. That is an internal coordination issue, not something that should suddenly become the client's emergency while they are sitting in the chair So now I have a photo shoot tomorrow, a trip next week, and no hair did or done because this salon could not communicate beforehand. After nearly two years of being a loyal client, I'm done overlooking the rude front desk energy, the scheduling confusion, the long waits, and the constant lack of coordination. The actual talent may be there, but the overall experience is not. I will not be coming back. Respectfully, the vibes are not worth $400+.
