The folks at Triathlon LAB are great to work with and very accommodating to my schedule. They helped get my biked shipped back to the Midwest in short order for a training camp, they built up my bike when I had it shipped out here after relocating from Chicago, and they are always super helpful when I drop in to buy random stuff. I've rarely ever experienced customer service as poor as this store has given me, on multiple occasions. Today was the last time I'll put up with it. The guy with tattoo's was incredibly rude to me today when I was asking about a wetsuit rental. I asked if they do any rent to buy on newer wetsuits since their rental wetsuit was extremely run down. He said no they don't, and I said why is that, everywhere else I've rented does, and then he told me in a very rude that that's too bad and I should go rent somewhere else. Are you kidding me? Who says that? I've spent hundreds of dollars here over the years and so has my fiance and that's the kind of respect and service they provide? Who does this guy think he is? That's a great way to treat long term customers, customers who would've kept coming back to buy new gear and rent new gear. Forget this place, I'm surprised their still in business in the first place and judging by all the other poor reviews and the horrible experience I've received multiple times I don't expect them to be in business much longer. Worst customer service ever. My friend and I both wanted to purchase 2017 Cervelo S3's. I called and spoke to Marcus and he quoted me $2799-which was lower than other places. Because it was significantly less I even called back and confirmed twice that it was the correct bike, in the right size and the right year and he said yes. He seems to only be there twice a week so between my friend and I we changed our schedules around to be there on a day Marcus would be there. When we eventually got there there were no Cervelo S3's to be found, much less in my size or the correct year. I did however find a Cervelo s2 which had a little sticker on it with my name on it and "S3" written on the sticker. When we asked them they said they must have been mistaken and that Marcus must have accidentally thought it was an S3. No apologies or nice tone. In fact, they yelled, literally yelled at us saying "as the customer we should know more about what we're purchasing and should have known that price wasn't correct". Not only do they have no idea what they are doing they also have the worst customer service I have ever experienced. read more

I was reluctant to come here after reading some of the negative reviews, but a friend of mine told me she had a quick, pleasant experience so I gave it a try. My beach cruiser's tires no longer held air and the chain was rusty. The shop is large and has lots of bikes and gear including clothing and shoes. Since I'm not a triathlete with a special racing bike, I wasn't sure if this was the place to service my beach cruiser. I walked to the desk and was helped immediately. While I waited for 20 minutes, he fixed the tubes in the tires, lubricated the chain, and made a few other tweaks to the bike to make sure it was in tip-top shape. The bill was under $25 and I couldn't be more pleased. Also, while I was sitting in the little waiting area, one of the workers came in to ask if I had been helped. I appreciated that he didn't just assume that I had been helped already and bothered to ask. This was a quick, easy, pleasant experience and I'll be sure to recommend Tri to my fellow beach-cruising friends. read more

I brought in an old Huffy Cruiser for a tune up. I was a little intimidated by all the top of the line bikes, but the service, the price and the helpfulness was second to none. The turn around was one day. So far, I highly recommend them. read more

I will not patronize this business again. After several botched attempts a reasonably decent customer service at their Redondo location, I was excited to hear that they were opening a new location in Santa Monica not far from my house. Having been a long-time customer of Helen's cycles, I thought it was to make a change. Boy, was I wrong. For the grand opening I bought a new pair of Garneau shoes and set my eye on a new Felt tri-bike which listed at $3,100. I went back the next day to test drive it and, no surprise here, decided I wanted it. The fact that they were givin ga 15% discount didn't hurt. I asked if they could give me the 20% discount as they were givig on non-bike items, but was met with a resounding "no". Ok, let's try another angle. How about throwing in a water bottle or some equipment (i.e. the new clips I had to buy)? Again, "no, but we can give you a 20% discount". Oh, really? Thanks, buddies! I accepted my poor negotiation skills and went home (leaving my pedals on the bike), determined to return today (Monday) at lunch and consummate the deal. So when I got there, I was lectured by one of the staff about how "lucky" I was to get 15% off and how "lucky" I was to be getting 20% off the other items. Seemed that he was whole-heartedly convinced that I was the lucky one. Considering the life-style nature of this sport, the fact that my children are gettting into the junior tri's, I would have expected to at least feel appreciated! But no... So I expressed my concerns and told them to give me my pedals back, I needed to think. I will not be going back, in spite of the convenience. Money ain't hanging on trees nowadays, and I want to spend my money at an establishment that wants my business. Triathlon Lab is a let-down. Too bad guys. Tried bait and switch after selling me discounted shoes. They offered a new pair at twice the cost in place of the discounted ones. Poor. Then the second item in my order took over a week just to get shipped. It's a mystery as to when I'll actually get the item. I wish them the best, as they did return emails promptly but their service and ethics is another level of terrible. Money would be better spent elsewhere in my opinion. read more

So I had a 2014 Felt B16 onhold with Chris the salesperson last week after trying and liking the bike and needing to clear it with my wife first. Coincidently the next day was dealing with some marital issues which I had to work on and it took my focus away from the bike. I'd called back on the 6 days later and the my bike was sold to another person b/c of no deposit. I never had been treated like this without at least phone call Bike Religion of Dana Point, Nytro in Encinitas, never. I was not told the bike would be put back on the floor in a couple of days if there was no deposit nor did I get one phone call to inform me of this action!! I had left Chris my cell# on my first visit and on the second didn't ask for one and coming back I was serious. I even took it on a test ride bringing my gear long with me! So I called with no empathy from him at all. Spoke to Neri the manager later after feeling so screwed over!!! Right?! He stated he would do 15% off a '15 bike but the one I was looking at was 20% off. He said he couldn't drop it that much yet cause they were still too new into the year. He tried I guess, but still feel screwed over and wronged! Guys you've lost your Pico location already and just have here/Redondo and I think still Catalina but all things considering I like your store just not the way I feel I got handeled. Triathlon's are too specialized and too small of a group to get bad press over to survive. I'll probably be back but, more of this and your newer Redondo Store won't survive as well. Try and call first or tell your customer first about the urgency of a downpayment when putting a bike onhold! People do pay attention to ratings and yours are mixed. I hope the owner of the shop reads this cause he should be making WAY more money but isn't cause of his employees. Let me first say the head mechanic is FANTASTIC, super friendly and knowledgeable. The rest of the sales people barely have a heart beat and more importantly just don't take their jobs seriously. I placed an order in person and it was completely mishandled. Took them almost 2 weeks for an item that if ordered direct would've taken 3-4 days tops. But I get it, things happen and people mess up..we are all human but do I really have to repeatedly call them to find out the status after being told they would update me? Were talking multiple calls I had to make to them with no response and finally I had to call the manufacturer myself only to find out the original order was never placed. I ordered direct and got my item in 3 days. The day after Trilab calls me and says my item just got there. Joke. But like I said, we all make mistakes so I called them a few days later to inquire and put in an order for a power meter. The sales person steers me to one that he really likes and gets me all excited. I ask him to find out if my frame is compatible with the meter and he tells me he will find out and call me back. What do you think happened...that's right crickets. I ordered it from somewhere else. Is it that hard to just do what you say and earn the business?? Unreal. Its really too bad cause Ive met the owner and he is really cool...too bad most of his sales staff don't really care whether they make money or not. Its too bad cause there aren't many tri dedicated shops around..or maybe that's why they just don't care. read more

Decided to take the plunge and buy a tri bike after several races with a road bike. I didn't know much about tri bikes before I visited the tri lab. That all changed when I met Markus. He took the time to introduce me to several makes and models of bikes, and fully explained the mechanics and performance of all of the options. He asked questions about my performance level and fitness and preferences. It was clear that he was interested in selling me a bike that is tailor made for me, and not in upselling me on a bunch of stuff I don't need. I returned today for a bike fit. Jacob is the bike fit king. He explained everything about my new bike, videotaped me on the bike, and reviewed the tape with me in slow motion so I understand the critical angles of leg, hip, back, neck and arms necessary for a comfortable ride that maximizes speed and efficiency. Really a helpful tutorial. While I was waiting for the completion of adjustments to my bike, I asked Markus about nutrition for races and training. He is extremely knowledgeable and gave me some great tips. If you want to give your business to a group of top-notch, friendly experts, all of them experienced triathletes, tri lab is your place. read more
