I filled out an on line form to be contacted by the Neptune Society. A woman called and said she saw that I was making an enquiry, asked how she could help, and if she could call me back later as she had something else to do. She called back later & I explained that my brother was in hospice care and we didn't know how long he had. She sent prices and assured me that they would take care of everything. All along I thought I was talking to The Neptune Society but it was not. When I was paying for the services, she said, "now you may see Trident Society on the charge but we are one and the same with Neptune Society, we just use 2 names." I had to tell her how to run my credit card since she was working out of her car and tried running the card while connected to her car speaker. I trusted everything she said since I had no reason not to. When my brother passed, I told the hospital that arrangements were being handled by the Neptune Society and to call them. 2 days later, I hadn't heard from anyone so I called the number I had, told the woman I hadn't heard from anyone & she said she'd get back to me. I received a call an hour later from a man and was told there was no call regarding my brothers death but he would call the hospital and find out. At this point, I had no idea where my brothers body was or who had him. Another call from the same man, told me it was my fault for not saying Trident Society. When I explained what the woman told me (we are one and the same) and he said absolutely NOT and I had to contact the hospital where he passed. I contacted the hospital and was told I had to sign legal documents taking Neptune off of the papers and giving consent for Trident to pick up his remains. I felt deceived by the original woman who called me as she should have said from the beginning that she was Trident not Neptune. I never received an apology for the deceptive info I was given, or the rudeness of the man trying to fix things. Know who you are talking to. None of us think clearly in our time of grief. Don't use them. They are a rip-off. We paid ~1900 for their services years ago. This included "travel" services so that my parents could be cremated where ever they lived. The money was to be kept in a trust until it was needed. After 14 years, the Trident Society paid $356 toward my father's cremation. This is the money that, they claim, he paid for actual cremation. The rest of the $1900 was for other things. So what happened to what he was promised - that his cremation would be covered wherever he died? On top of that, the person I talked to initially was extremely rude, interrupting me each time I tried to protest, repeatedly citing a contract that is anything but transparent, connecting me with someone with more authority reluctantly and after numerous requests. read more

I just had a very negative experience with Carolyn (office coordinator). I called to make arrangements to have my name changed on my account. She said I needed to send in the documents showing I legally changed my name. Ok I get that. She then wanted to give me the mailing address. I asked her to text it to me as I was driving. She said she could not do that, ok email the mailing address to me and she didn't want to do that either. I then asked If I could email the documents that she was requesting and she said to mail them because SHE would have to print them to put them in my file anyways. I not sure when this thing became all about her and isn't that her job! Seriously in our world of technology. I ended up hanging up on her because she was not being helpful at all and so much for Family First. Now I'm having 2nd thoughts about referring my daughter to Trident. She just purchased a plan thru Bianca who was absolutely lovely and extremely helpful. My daughter is deaf and I would hate that she would need to contact your office and have to communicate with Carolyn. read more

Jessica was a bright, shiny angel during a dark storm. She was thoughtful, gentle, patient and so very respectful of my deceased father and our family. She gave information in small amounts as the situation was overwhelming, yet she also had the same info in emails, which was appreciated. Boy does it depend on who answers the phone. Kelly could not assure me that my loved one would be picked up right away, until I painted a picture for her. She kept repeating, "We are open M-F 8 to 5pm to call you back." I wanted/needed clarification on this. Do I need to wait for a work day to get my loved one pick up? She repeats the hours again. Caroline was delightful and helpful. I called using the card in my wallet for my mother. I gave her the account number and questions about the billing were answered. Trident did a wonderful job in taking care of our dad after he passed last month. He was a Navy veteran of 20 years. There is no need to pay what Trident charges (2 to 4x what other local businesses charge for the same service). Furthermore, when my Dad contracted with Trident several years ago, the documentation they provided was grossly inadequate. It mentioned his name and contract number, and confirmed that his account has been fully pre-paid. But their documentation provided NO indication of how much had been paid or which services had been paid for. Trident/Neptune has been sued by multiple state Attorneys General over mismanagement of customer escrowed funds etc., so that gives you an idea of the ethics of this corporation. read more

Just received a mailer addressed to my mom; it was a survey on cremation services asking how much she would expect to pay. My mom passed away in 2019, 3 years ago this May. I see from the other reviews, I'm not the only one who has received a mailer for a deceased parent. His incident was 2 years ago; clearly Trident has not improved its business practices. read more

All the staff, (especially Kelly and the lovely woman at the front desk) were extremely helpful and professional as my family mourned the death of my father. My parents prearranged everything with Trident, which at the time, seemed too good to be true. But from the moment my father passed, Trident's staff at the Mira Mar office took care of everything from arranging his transfer to his final resting. Kelly kept me up to date through her emails letting me know each step in the process. When I picked up dads memorial box containing his ashes. staff were comforting and reassuring. They made sure dad's ashes were cared for until they were handed over to my family and they went above and beyond by helping us with memorial jewelry. I would recommend Trident and especially this staff to anyone. I am so grateful all the decisions for our dad were made prior to his passing and staff made sure all my dad's wishes were carried out. Edited review: I revised my review to 3 stars after they were able to accommodate a party of 10 to scatter my mother's ashes. They have agreed to waive the $900 fee. Please have your elders run any contracts past a trusted advisor or fiduciary before signing ANYTHING!! My mother purchase a plan in 2011 which included a pretty box. The box was $1,100. She just passed away, and now Trident Society tells us the box can't be used since her wishes in the contract were to be scattered at sea with no one in attendance. (Not too sure that's what she intended)Trident Society offered us the option to go out with 18 people to attend the scattering. This, however, would cost us an additional $900. These people are conducting elder financial abuse by selling elderly people things they can't use. Clearly, she wasn't interested in donating an additional $1,100 to them for a box we don't even need. This is absolutely Bait and Switch and a miserable example of False Advertising! I will be contacting the Better Business Bureau and our attorney. They are rip off artists, stay away!! Save your loved ones the heartache! read more
