Part of chef sampling Two oysters prepared differently. Delicious.

I have been sitting on a lot of photos and this review... so it's time to post! FOOD: Superb. Freshness, preparation, flavor combinations, and presentation...Trifecta is a nugget in the South Bay. I enjoyed everything I had. No complaints. I shared suggestions with them, but I was always satisfied. There are some Filipino elements infused in some dishes, but they specialize in their sushi. It's not a Cheesecake Factory menu, so they stick to their strengths. Yet, I find enough on the menu to vary my selections each time I go. They also update their weekly specials, including the dessert. (PLEASE make the ube panna cotta a permanent addition to the menu!) Cost is relative when dining out but you get quality here for what you pay for. SERVICE: Very attentive. Waiters will check in on you. Chefs will check in on you of at the counter. They can get busy at times so feel free to flag a server down if you truly need something. AMBIANCE: Chill and not annoyingly "busy" loud, if that makes sense. It's tucked away in a quiet strip mall in a nicer part of San José. Chefs may strike up a conversation when there's some down time at the counter. In this way, it's a homely, neighborhood joint. They're friendly and not too loud. Want more privacy and a quieter dinner? Choose a table. SUMMARY: Try Trifecta. I hope you will find it a pleasurable dining experience. I think you will be back. And if you want more (tuna), try their popular tuna cutting events!

Had their tasting menu $125/person and it was delicious! Really filling too you will not leave starving We did reservations (very easy) and was seated right away. The atmosphere was very warm and inviting. Loved the vibes and twinkling lights. Although you could definitely come for a more casual experience this place would be perfect for a special occasion such as birthday dinners or date nights. The tasting menu was 100% WORTH IT!' It. Came with so many delicious appetizers and entrees. It is chefs choice so you won't know what you'll get but here are some pictures attached of what we got By far my friend and I enjoyed the cod and Kare Kare! Service was amazing. Staff kept checking in to see if we were done or if we needed anything. Super attentive. Would definitely come again

Trifecta sits up in the south hills near Silver Creek, tucked into a pleasant little neighborhood strip mall with a spa, a dojo, and a few eateries. It feels a bit more upscale and artistic than most sushi spots in the area, with a very nice atmosphere and a relaxed, date-night kind of vibe. Probably not a Tuesday dinner visit due to the price. Parking was easy. Service, though, could use some polis. Once seated, everything moved at a crawl, from ordering, to food arrival, to drink refills, and the staff came across a bit cold. We kept it simple with a Japanese curry cutlet meal and a kaisen don. The cutlet had a crisp coating and a mild, comforting curry, a cozy dish even if it didn't knock my socks off. The kaisen don was colorful and fresh, with a good variety of fish and a nice balance of textures. Definitely good, just not the most memorable version I've had. Not a five-star visit this time, but I could see it getting there on a better night.

Trifecta Sushi absolutely exceeded my expectations. I tried the Trifecta Roll and it was AMAZING -- perfectly balanced flavors, super fresh ingredients, and beautifully presented. Their nigiri was some of the freshest I've had in a long time, you can really taste the quality of the fish. The service was also top tier. Everyone was so welcoming, attentive, and genuinely kind, which made the whole experience even better. The restaurant itself had a great atmosphere and everything came out quickly without feeling rushed. Definitely one of my new favorite sushi spots and I'll 100% be coming back. Highly recommend if you're looking for fresh sushi, great service, and an overall amazing dining experience!

Trifecta is one of my top sushi places in the Bay Area. This place exceeds my standards for quality sushi, premium cuts of fish, delicious one of a kind drinks and it has a laid back atmosphere especially on a Thursday or Friday nights when I've gone there. I've been there at least 5 times within the last 6 months and it doesn't disappoint. The attentive waiters like Michael who come and greet you and check on you multiple times and always makes sure after every order to check on you again. I feel very spoiled when I'm there because you're catered to in a fine dining restaurant like you're supposed to. You can't go wrong with anything. I went a little overboard for my birthday and had a special menu it had one of the most flavorful selections of fish with the pairing of the umami sauce that was mind blowing *chef's kiss* . What I really enjoyed about this place is a mom and pops and it is family owned. I love that I was able to meet the mom and her two sons. They work so hard and work so well together. I totally appreciate that vibe and how intimate you can get with a chefs.

I had really high expectations and unfortunately, we had a really tough experience. However, I'm hoping we came on an off night and look forward to going back and giving it another try. We came on a Friday evening and had a reservation. They were medium busy, but service was really rough. We waited 20+ to wave down a waitress to order. After our food came, we didn't see a waitress again until we got up to finally ask for a check. I'm patient, but this was not the experience you pay for here. The couple next to us had to get up 3-4 times to flag someone down. Now the food was good - we had a sashimi plate and a few rolls. Their side salad was also soooo good. The fish all tasted fresh and had good flavor combos. Pricey, but worth it for good quality sushi.

We went here last weekend to celebrate early Mother's Day Saturday night. We had a reservation for 6 people at 6:30 and there was a bit of a wait still even with our reservation. However, once we were finally seated, our waitress was very attentive and accommodating. We ordered the yellowtail crudo, scallop carpaccio, smoked hamachi tacos (not pictured), toro/ hamachi/zuke umi masu sashimi, short rib kare kare, miso black cod, uni mentaiko carbonara, and firefly squid. All of the fish and squid were extremely fresh, probably the freshest I've had in a long time. The Toro and Zuke Umi Masu (Ocean Trout Belly) were perfectly fatty. My favorites were the smoked hamachi tacos (the gyoza shell was a nice and delicious surprise), uni mentaiko carbonara, and firefly squid (which were so cute and tiny! Also super fresh). The pasta for the uni carbonara is made in house and it had a really good flavor and texture Would definitely go here again!

The service was fabulous, attentive, knowledgeable and courteous. The food wasn't very good. Chowanmushi cost $20 and I expected a bowl of soup, not half a cup for that price! Bothe sushi rolls had the same snow crab/avacado filling with almost no fish. Rolls were $26 and $25, were small and definitely not worth the price! Tasted very bland and the rice was chewy and not normal sushi rice. Corn ribs were tasty and the appetizer was ok. Plenty of parking and seating atmosphere was nice.

Came in on a Saturday night and was greeted right away. Once we were seated, we noticed how homely and relaxed the atmosphere and decor was inside. They had pretty lights that were dim but not too dim that we couldn't see our food or read our menus. Once we were seated, our waiter graciously offered to go through the menu with us and gave recommendations on their popular items. We went with the uni mentaiko carbonara and 2 rolls. Starting with the uni mentaiko carbonara, the sauce was thick, creamy, and has great flavor. Neither the uni or the mentaiko was too overpowering. The noodle dish itself does not contain uni and you would have to add an extra $15 if you would like fresh uni on top. The 2 rolls we had were the faithful roll and the body roll. We loved how they had their own unique rolls which definitely made them stand out from other sushi restaurants. The faithful roll is a little lighter and creamier than the body roll but still good. Our personal favorite was the body roll which had chimichurri sauce on it?! What is this, a steak restaurant?! Never seen that before and it worked out! The sauce was a nice touch and great addition to the fresh sushi. The best thing about this place and you can clearly tell they use high quality fish for their rolls that literally melts in your mouth. Hopefully this place stays open for a while because the area it's in is a pretty quiet neighborhood and restaurants are known to close down in that area.

We had the $125 tasting menu, so this rating is more focused on that particular menu option. It's stated to be 8 courses including dessert. The first two courses were edamame and these deep fried seasoned split corn cobs. The edamame was fine, though because they were seasoned in a spicy oil, your choices were to eat them with chopsticks if you had a dexterous mouth, or fully commit and get your hands oily. I opted for the chopsticks, but as a result maybe got 3/4 of the beans and some bean skin - not easy for me to eat. The corn cobs were a little weird. It was like halfway between eating conventional corn on the cob and eating a BBQ seasoned corn nut. Okay, but honestly the first two courses were barely courses and not elevated in any way. Third and fourth were a tuna crudo and a raw fish mini taco. The crudo was really good - tuna was fresh and seasoned well. The taco was small - like two bites worth (or one big bite), but good also. These were legit courses. Five was a king salmon filet in a ginger soy sauce. It was good, but it was strange in that there were three of us and this came on only two plates. The one plate to be shared wasn't twice the size of the single and a salmon filet isn't an intuitive thing to split and share. The way we were situated wasn't such that I was even sharing with my wife. It would have been much better to ask - "we usually put a double sized portion on a single plate for two people to share - is that okay or would everyone like to have their own plate?" Simple question and would have made everything less awkward, because once it's out there and served, you feel like the difficult customer if you say "excuse me, can you plate this separately?" Next (six) was the nigiri course, which was awesome. Very tasty. Course was small though: 4 smaller nigiri, one uni spoon, and one thin piece of tamago cake. No complaints on quality/taste though. Seven was a uni carbonara udon dish, which tasted pretty good, but I again found it a little strange. And no visible uni, so it was must have been subtly in the sauce. At least a bit of uni on the top would have been a nice touch. Again, two people sharing one plate of noodles - awkward. When you have discrete pieces of ahi crudo where you can neatly pick your pieces, great. But salmon filet and udon noodles - no. Eight was a kind of ice dessert - it was fine and really none of the tasting menus really get dessert right. So was it worth $125, no, unfortunately it wasn't. Four of the courses were good and on par, we can forgive the dessert, but three of them didn't really meet expectations. However, if you ordered $125 worth of stuff you liked off the main menu, I can see how this would be a nicer meal. We were hoping for a course with the wagyu, but maybe that's too much to ask at this price point. The seasoning overall was more overt and forward. Not overseasoned, but you tasted the seasoning more than the main component of the dish. Kind of the opposite approach of another more expensive omakase we tried where everything was very subtle and you could focus on appreciating the quality of the ingredients. The place is casual, not fancy, and decorated like a fairly casual walk in place. The service was excellent and very polite. So giving this 3 stars due to some of the questionable courses, rather strange communal plating choices, and it not really being worth the price. But I do believe this is actually very likely a four star restaurant that we just misaligned on for some things - that makes it hard to just assign 4 stars when your specific experience wasn't that level. But all that being said, I'd come back and order off the main menu and I expect that I'd probably enjoy everything I ordered myself.

We've been meaning to try this place since the "check, please! bay area" episode! I'm an advocate of eating local and finding the secret gems in your own backyard! So imagine my amazement when that particular episode mentions the hidden gem located in San Jose! We arrived and were asked to wait for our table to get cleaned, and we said no worries since I understand the place was busy. I wasn't too much of a fan of the seating we were given. I am plus size so I was hoping for the bench seating but alas we got a two-seater table by the twinkling lights. (Which are a nice touch but I suffer from migraines so I made sure to sit with my back to them) I wish I had spoken up sooner so maybe on the next visit; but as soon as we said we were doing the tasting menu- I feel like service should've suggested a bigger table (I only say this because one of the servers kept making it a point that there was no space on the table for the food or the sake bucket) Service, overall was good; there was one young lady with a braid that was less than enthusiastic and seemed to be on autopilot but I am reasonably understanding and I'm comparing service to the young man who initially helped us decide on the tasting menu and Nicole (name on receipt; was wearing a white hairclip) who was friendly and enthusiastic about the food! For every dish served she would provide her favorites or an interesting factoid. The young lady with the braid, also mentioned something about the bartender not being around thus no cocktails... I only mention these things because the restaurant would benefit from a little more training in finesse when delivering information to their guests. Though we were bummed there were no cocktail available, we settled on a sake bottle (they maintained cold in a champagne bucket of sorts) and i eventually had one glass of red wine that I paired with their short-rib kare kare. As mentioned earlier, we chose the chefs tasting menu at $125 per person and we felt it was well worth it! I believe it was about 8 courses; 1. Salad with minimal dressing and I mean that as the highest compliment! My non-veggie eating husband ate the salad up; the seaweed was perfect enough! 2. Lumpia was filling and complimented the salad. 3. I believe it's chawanmushi topped with the most devine scallop and edible flower (I wish I could've had more!) 4. From their a la carte menu; Bluefield tuna chili garlic, the perfect midpoint! 5. Also, from their a la carte menu; smoked hamachi tacos, I want to go back just for these, especially on a warmer day! 6. Plate of nigiri, I cant remember 6 or 7 pieces (not pictured! Oops!) and we learned those were on the a la carte menu too and we will definitely come back for those! 7. Short rib kare kare from their menu as well and my goodness! Soooo tender! All you need are chopsticks! And the eggplant! My goodness they had me considering whether I enjoyed the veggies or the short rib more! 8. The perfect finale! Ube panna cotta with like a strawberry compote! Perfectly light and perfectly balanced in sweetness! Overall a true hidden gem in San Jose!!!

Came here for date night and absolutely loved it. From the outside, we were unsure of our choice as trifecta is located in a strip mall and the sign is falling off. Don't let the looks fool you - this place is fantastic! We were originally going to get the tasting menu but ultimately decided to order several dishes instead. The wagyu gyoza was like nothing I've ever had before - so yummy. The yellow tail app was delicious and had a salsa verde on it mixing both Japanese and Mexican flavors. The sashimi platter and chirashi platter both had wide selections. The fish is SO FRESH. There wasn't one thing we had that was bad. The skin on the dry aged salmon was crisped to perfection. Service was fantastic. We had multiple servers but they all took care of us really well. The head chef came by our table and introduced himself which was such a treat. They told us all about their tuna cutting night they have once a month - we can't wait to come back to experience!

I emailed the team to place and order and got a reply within the hour. They did a good job providing the info. This was order for pick up so I can't say anything about the ambiance. The tray was $450 as listed on their site, but for the number of items listed, I expected a larger tray. For 6 adults and 3 kids, it wasn't enough to fill up. We ended up ordering more sushi from somewhere else. The tray had sashimi, nigiri, and rolls, all pretty small bite size pieces. It was hard to tell what was what, but based on descriptions I believe everyone really liked the Trifecta roll. The sashimi didn't seem the freshest, but it was a 40 min drive from pick up so benefit of the doubt it was partially from sitting in the car. It was worth a try and I think there are other options in San Jose for sushi platters at a better price or quantity.

Spotting a delicious-looking sashimi plate at the next seat made me eager to try their sushi. The menu featured a wide variety of dishes, including sushi rolls, soups, and specialty plates. Still, I found myself not fully in the mood, likely because I was disappointed about Flaming Ox. I ordered a dragon roll and, craving California rolls, decided to get two. My daughter chose the chicken teriyaki plate and really enjoyed it. The sushi was so fresh that I saved my extra California rolls for lunch the next day. I'd definitely return to try more of their beautiful rolls or sashimi plates. Service was decent overall. We waited a bit to place our order, but the food arrived promptly. There was a moment when our server took a while to return, and I grew so thirsty I almost went searching for him myself. Fortunately, another server noticed and quickly brought me water. I'm glad I discovered this restaurant in the same shopping strip as Flaming Ox. It was odd that one side of the strip lost power while the other remained unaffected.

For the price, it felt like a great value and was a very filling meal. I also ordered deep-fried oysters. They were tasty and cooked well although no dipping sauce was provided so I ended up just using soy sauce instead. One thing I noticed is that the value doesn't seem to carry over to delivery. When I looked at DoorDash, the bento box listed there didn't include the potstickers or California rolls. Ordering directly through the restaurant's website to get the full meal added about $12 in extra fees which made it much less appealing. Overall, the food was good and the in-person pricing felt reasonable. I'd happily dine here again but if you're considering delivery, be aware that you'll pay significantly more and may not get the same meal options.

I had a tour to Japan last March, I traveled from Osaka to Tokyo. I was impressed that the traditional sushi section here in this restaurant compared to Japan is not different. Far from the original, they have their own special rolls which are satisfied other style of appetite. I've been telling that the Japanese never put sauce or anything other than fish in their maki. However, the non-Japanese create sauce and ingredients to make maki more favor. As more as you know about the history of Japanese sushi, the more you respect the head chef here. I am been trying a lot of Japanese sushi restaurant and find myself this place. I strongly recommended Poki salad, Toro on the rock, Sashimi Sampler and salmon belly fusion nigiri. Unfortunately, the sashimi was by far the worst I've ever been served at a restaurant. The fish appeared discolored, old, and slimy. When we asked our server what types of fish were included, we were told tori, salmon, albacore, yet the almost every piece (minus the salmon) had a brownish-gray appearance that was extremely unappetizing. I'm not sure if we happened to receive the last of their inventory for the week, but serving fish in that condition at full price ($60) is kind of crazy. Some of the sashimi looked comparable to raw pork that had been sitting out, which was honestly concerning. The sushi rolls were also disappointing. They were very average, with flavors and quality that reminded me of grocery store sushi. Nothing stood out or justified the price point. Overall, this was a very disappointing experience. I was especially let down because this restaurant came highly recommended by a family member who has dined here multiple times and always had positive experiences. To make matters worse, I developed stomach discomfort within about 15 minutes of leaving the restaurant. I had been looking forward to trying this place, but unfortunately, my experience fell far short of expectations.

I wanted to come to Suro originally because of their raw octopus, which is a delicacy since it is still moving when you eat it. If I could I would've ordered more rolls because I wasn't full after my meal. Suro is a decent place to go if you want some sushi or are just craving it!

These were super thick and served with a barbecue marinara sauce combination. We also tried three signature rolls here, all of which tasted decently fresh. The smoky tempura roll was indeed smoky, and very saucy + slightly sweet. Definitely a unique roll! The Suro Titanic roll was HUGE. Jaw breaking even. The name was very fitting. We also had the Sushi + Sashimi + Roll Combo. I really liked the spicy tuna roll, but I thought the rest of the fish quality on the nigiri and sashimi wasn't anything crazy. Lastly we had the spicy kimchi ramen! Yum! Service was inconsistent. Some workers were nice and others not. We finished with complimentary mochi ice cream which was awesome! Casual ambience.

It is one of those dishes you end up thinking about later and ordering again without hesitation. The bento boxes are a strong option. Good portions, a nice variety, and priced reasonably, which is not always easy to find downtown. It feels like you get a full meal without having to piece things together. They also offer Japanese curry, which is not something you see everywhere, and it is done well here. A nice change of pace from the usual menu items. Parking can be a bit of a challenge since it is in downtown, so plan a little extra time. It is a steady, reliable place that delivers on the basics and then gives you a few reasons to come back. The service is always a culminating and top notch. An inside has a nice bamboo ambiance feel.
