One of my favorite spots in the world, the food the energy, love everything about trilogy ,, high quality ingredients

This is my new favorite place! I may have to go every weekend (I don't live in La Jolla or it would be more). The food is so delicious! New to vegan/gluten-free dining, I expected to sacrifice some enjoyment for the sake of healthy eating, but NO, it was so good! We had the tacos (one of each kind), spring rolls (best peanut sauce ever!), nachos (), and the Transcendence dessert (brownie with vanilla coconut ice cream and caramel sauce). Incredibly, there was no dairy or gluten in any of these delectable items, and ... yuuum! If great food hadn't been enough, the ambience of the rooftop cafe would have won us over anyway. We got to enjoy a beautiful sunset and live music (because it was Friday night). If you go on a Friday night, I recommend arriving by 6 (7 might be ok) to get your choice of seating because there are a few couches and people bring rugs to sit on the floor and enjoy the performance. I was with a friend, but it would have also made for a great date! The two performers there tonight were quite impressive. I hope they are representative of the performers they usually have because I will definitely be back. read more

Wow. This place is exactly what I'm looking for when I search for vegan food in new cities. I arrived for a weekend wedding and quickly found the rooftop cafe after reading some good reviews, but this place blew me away. The food is delicious, and my wife and I have now eaten a breakfast, lunch, and dinner here. Everything was fresh and tasty, the atmosphere is relaxing, and I can't help but keep going back. I tried a few other vegan options in the area and they were good as well, but Trilogy is the best. Try the smoothies as well! read more

BEST VEGAN FOOD EVER! They have a wide variety of options to choose from. The atmosphere is amazing and the staff are very friendly. Love that's it's on a rooftop with a nice view and relaxing seats. I wish the food was more cheaper, but you can't expect to pay cheap when it comes to vegan food. The portions are big, the perfect size and the presentation is so fancy! Definitely would make a non vegan want to become vegan. Food tastes so mouthwatering and full of flavor. Love coming to eat here read more

Omg AMAZING! Spring rolls with super dank peanut sauce are amazing and the nachos! To die for! My best friend who hates vegan food will definitely LOVE them! Trilogy has some of the best vegan food in San Diego! Unlike a lot of other places, who serve over processed plant-based junk food, Trilogy serves clean, healthy vegan food. My good friend visits me a lot from the SF bay area, and for special occasions, such as her visit or my birthday, I always take us here for a fine meal that is both clean and tasty. She loves the gift shop that we 'have to' go through, as well as the beautiful rooftop Yoga retreat. read more

My husband had been going to the Friday night restorative yoga with Rob! It was our favorite date night. Unfortunately, our instructor is no longer there. We tried the class again a few week after he had left (there was a sub) and it definitely was not the same. We will attempt to come back soon and try it again. Hopefully, there is a permanent teacher now. Also, I like the food at trilogy. I wish their kitchen was open an hour later. I would definitely like to come in the evening, go to yoga, then order food. It closes right after we get out of class. One of my favorite things on the menu is the brownie and coconut ice cream. Delicious food, smoothies, and best ambience to spend some time in the La Jolla area of San Diego. Trilogy Cheeseburger and Portabello Tacos were delicious. Had the LUST smoothie later on with Almond milk, banana, cacao, date, cashew, maca, vanilla, cinnamon, cayenne, cacao nibs. I was sad that it finished :-). Will go there again and again. It seems that the owner believes he can cut corners on customer service and training of employees because the quality of the food makes up for it. Well, I'm sorry but that doesn't cut it for me, I don't care how delicious the food is, eating at a restaurant is an experience that is shaped by multiple factors and the quality of customer service is one of those factors; if that is inadequate, the whole experience is tarnished. Most recently, I stopped by one Saturday morning after phoning in an order for 2 smoothies (by now, I'd figured out that ordering to-go was my best option as it cut down on any distasteful experiences with employees and I didn't have to loiter around in an unfriendly environment while waiting for my order). Once again, the employee there (Mike) ignored me as I came in, he was too busy talking to the only other customer in the café (he was not even behind the counter I might add, and I wasn't even really sure he worked there since employees at this café do not wear uniforms or aprons and are dressed as if they just walked in from off the street). I went up to the counter and waited for him to come up and charge me for my smoothies. He meandered up to the counter, all the while still speaking with the other customer and ignoring me. I said "I ordered 2 smoothies to go" and he nodded distractedly and rang me up, never looking at me, never saying good morning, nothing! The cherry on top of this unpleasant experience was when he took my smoothies out of the refrigerator and one of them was noticeably less full than the other! (I've included a photo of my smoothies exactly as I received them, I had not drank any of the green smoothie when I took this photo). If I'm paying $20 for 2 smoothies, I expect them to be full servings! But, given the fact that I am a non-confrontational person and was trying to maintain my composure and dignity after being treated with such disrespect, I took my smoothies and left. This experience was the last straw for me, if people are willing to overlook the abysmal service in favor of the food, so be it. I, however, have higher standards than that and cannot dine here allowing these rude employees to treat me as anything else but a valued customer. I plan on satisfying my smoothie cravings with JuiceCrafters, whose smoothies are delicious and whose service is impeccable. I recognize that this café is "alternative" and laid-back, however I didn't realize that meant good manners, politeness and kindness are thrown out the window! My experiences here have been anything but "zen" and frankly I find it very hypocritical that this café advertises itself as having a serene ambience when it is filled with rude, self-involved people that make it anything but serene! read more

This place is amazing. Great energy from everyone. There delicious vegan food, juices, and coffee options make it hard to choose just one of anything. One of my favorites is there Butternut squash spaghetti Plate! I have food some rare food allergies and there still have options for me to choose from as far as milks and sugars for my coffees or teas. The eating space. This is out doors with options at a small patio tables or a few large comfy couches with a fresh view. All around GREAT CHOICE! read more

Whoa, this place rocks my socks. I was astonished to see such a beautiful rooftop. We ordered the nachos, mediterranean squash, and quinoa. Everything was flavorful, delicious, and satisfying. Bear in mind, vegan doesn't automatically equate healthy. The nachos were smothered in cheese sauce, sour cream, and avocados. The "nachos" themselves were strangely chewy. The mediterranean squash was coated in pesto sauce. We opted for the almond sauce for the quinoa. Unlike other reviewers, I felt bloated after eating, but it was probably because I couldn't refrain from stuffing my face. read more

Another vegan spot that completely blew me away! I had fairly low expectations, coming to a *yoga* studio to eat, but I could not have been more wrong. The spot is perfect, with a fourth floor view of the sunset and beach, (also a nearer sight of cute girls doing aerial yoga ;) The outdoor seating is comfy and welcoming but we couldn't work out the heaters. No matter, my boo and I sat inside, admired the cute things for sale and INHALED the amazing food. The vegan tacos were remarkably tasty with home-made tortillas but the rolled eggplant dish with 'cheese' crust was just the bomb! I sort of cheekily asked for the recipe but was shot down politely. It was such a winner... Still, I'll have to come back and eat the rest of the items on the menu for sure! read more

My review is for the yoga classes ONLY. I have never eaten here before, but I plan to in the future because the food seems great. I came here for 4 yoga classes (no aerial). 2 out of the 4 classes happened to be subbed. I would say Gina Cat Middleton had the most logical flow out of the 4 different instructors I had. It made sense physically, at least in my body (I'm not that flexible). Though I'm not quite sure how the 2 subs landed a position teaching there. Both seemed doubtful about the next pose they were going to do, more than half the time in class. Their verbal cues were sub-par so if I was new to yoga, I wouldn't have known to get into and stay in a posture safely. No themes at all whatsoever. Demonstrating nearly the whole class offering little to no adjustments. Both forgot what transitions they did from one side to the other. I only give this place 3 stars because I like the atmosphere of the studio and the location. I probably won't return for the yoga, but definitely for the cafe. read more

I have been coming to Trilogy Sanctuary since they first opened and cannot say enough nice things about this place! First of all, the menu is amazing and seasonally appetizing- always! Their signature dishes are favorites for a reason and always wonderful to come back to. Save room for dessert and take time to explore the information about community yoga classes/offerings. Good vibes encouraging nourishment and wellness makes this gem a top fave in San Diego for sure! read more

Came here for breakfast and after finding out they were out of pancakes by 10:30 am (which was the only reason I came) I ordered the quinrizo breakfast-vegan version of chorizo and scrambled eggs. I have to say that I didn't miss the animal products at all because it taste just like it and I'm not even vegan! The service was excelente and we also shared the Nutella crepe which I didn't love but my quinrizo breakfast with their matcha latte was bomb, would definitely eat here again-maybe next time I'll make it in time for the pancakes. read more

My review is specifically for the cafe, as I have not come for yoga or anything aside from a smoothie. I came with high hopes after reading the reviews. When I arrived, there was an event overtaking the entire rooftop, which from the reviews seemed to be their big selling point. It was overwhelming because people were setting up equipment and I felt like I was intruding by visiting the cafe. When I went up to the counter I asked the woman working to suggest a smoothie after letting her know what kind I usually like. She was of no help. All of the smoothies had at least one ingredient that I wasn't familiar with, and when I asked about one of the flavors, the answer I received was literally "it's a powder." Thanks. A powder. That's helpful. Anyway, I settled on a smoothie that seemed to be the most promising, and forked over $10 (this better be a damn good smoothie for $10). ...it wasn't. At all. I tolerated it, at best. When I went outside I couldn't enjoy the rooftop sitting area because of the event, so I had to take it to go. I don't even know why I am giving it 2 stars instead of 1. I think because of everyone's excitement I feel bad giving it the worst possible rating, but I paid $10 for a smoothie I didn't like and an atmosphere I couldn't enjoy. Overall, a very disappointing experience! I love vegan food and organic food, so I expected more from this place. I don't live in San Diego, so I probably wouldn't come back anyway...but the experience further solidifies that I will not be back. read more

Trilogy Sanctuary has the prettiest outdoor deck & view. I have only done the free community classes, but while the classes have been okay, the experience of doing yoga with such view is one of the best experiences. I highly recommend you to try it. For the restaurant, I have only been once. I ordered over the phone, and still had to wait about 10 mins after driving from RB. So, yea... restaurant can be pretty slow. However, it is pretty good. I totally plan to return, but probably on a weekend when waiting is not an issue. They also offer aerial yoga! I may try it this week, and report back :) read more

I have frequented this rooftop sanctuary many times and it never disappoints. This morning I had the superfood açaí bowl and it was amazing. The people are super friendly, it is 100%vegan, which is not a real concern for me as I am not vegan. But for those of you that are vegan........I highly recommend stopping by. I love this place. Ariel yoga is amazing! So freeing! Trust the teacher and yourself so you can have a great time. Every time I go I learn more about my body and the freeing sensation of being in the silks. The vegan food is to die for! I am currently eating through the menus and I have loved it all! The decadent dessert is so yummy. The kombuchas and brews are so delicious. The owner and all her staff are so kind, considerate and genuine! This place rocks! A lot of the food is on the expensive side, but it all looks really good and the thing I ordered was $10 for a good-sized bowl. They have free wifi and it's a nice place to just spend some time. But what inspired me to actually write a review was the staff! After my bowl I was eyeing the chocolate muffins, but I was short by a little bit of change. As I was walking away, one of the staff members approached me with a muffin and said she had some change! I should have asked her name, she had straight dark hair about shoulder length. This place really surprised me. I came here with a friend who had been here before. I didn't know what to expect. In case you need directions, you must go down the hallway and up to the top floor in the elevator. The staff was totally helpful and friendly. They went above and beyond when it came to helping us out and timing the food for us. Kept our dessert in the fridge until we were done. I got the Mediterranean spaghetti squash and my friend got the tacos. My pasta was SO ****ING GOOD. It was warm, cooked to perfection (not too soft, not too hard), the pesto was so fresh and flavorful and the portion was heaping. It took me a long time to finish it but I did manage to eat the whole thing. My friend's sweet potato tacos were excellent. I liked the shell of the taco more than traditional shells, actually, because it was thicker and did not fall apart when you took a bite. It was just malleable enough. I love that this place doesn't use soy. I have a mild allergy to all legumes and it's really tough finding items at a vegetarian place that aren't supplemented with peanut or soy-based everything. We felt really good after the meal. The dessert was a vegan cheesecake with raspberries. It was excellent. I liked the crust. The texture was a little more like silken tofu than cheesecake, so I prefer the vegan cheesecake from Sipz, but it was still wonderfully light and a great finish to a nice meal. I also had the coconut cream tea which tasted like sweetened coconut milk. Very tasty. You can buy their teas from them in loose leaf bags, too! The patio is nice to watch the aerial yoga class and listen to relaxing music. There are large beds, couches and low-resting coffee tables as well as indoor dining and regular tables under umbrellas. The look over La Jolla from so high is unique. You don't get that at any other restaurants on Girard. I will come here many more times. I will take more friends with me, too. :) read more

This could be a lovely spot.. but I've got a poor customer service experience to comment on. Three times, I sent my boyfriend to sign up to do yoga. At first, to come with me. He owns a place nearby but is currently working /commuting in LA. So, he signed up for the 5 session pass they had on their website. However, the girl wouldn't let him and made him pay the $20 drop-in fee. Then, when I went with him, they wouldn't apply that to the 5 session fee, so he got that. Then, when he went to use it again, they said the time expired. Based on that, I wouldn't have him go there again and I stopped doing a membership that penalizes those who would like to join their friends. The instructors are mostly wonderful, but I was disappointed by a few times when they didn't appear to clean the silks or assist people who were clearly having difficulty. Some get into a habit and forget that it can be terrifying for someone new to yoga or with limited flexibility. I ended up helping my boyfriend and had people comment on what a great instructor I would be. I don't have the training or expertise, but it should have been the instructor, and not me, who also paid for the class. Sadly, I haven't renewed my membership because of these experiences. I try new places because I am not willing to spend the fees for places that don't provide consistent service. We forgive when you have a bad day, but multiple bad experiences add up to moving on. I know the owners want a better place, so I am hoping that my feedback helps them to eventually achieve this. read more

I wish I lived closer to this place! Went on a Saturday evening and had the quinoa bowl, veg-nachos, and tacos w my bf. So filling, nutritious and tasty! We went back the next morning for their Acai bowl. Seriously hands down best Acai bowl I've ever had! I had the chocoholic and my bf had the traditional. So gooood. Too bad I'm from LA but will def come down to SD for another trip here. The only down part is its a bit of a wait but so worth it when the food gets there.
