    Hot and sour soup
    Dan R.

When I walk into a small take-out place for take-out, I have clear expectations. I want a decent container of food with a decent sized portion at a decent price. Triple Star delivered on all three counts. We were heading home from Hartford and picked up dinner on the way. We ordered two combination dinners - chicken and shrimp, and chicken and broccoli. They ran around $8 each and included a generous portion of fried rice and an egg roll. We also had a hot and sour soup ($1.95) and a won ton soup ($1.75). Here's my analysis of what I had. The soup was pretty good -chock full of lots of sliced tofu in a flavorful broth. The eggroll was forgettable, well maybe memorable if you really like bland shredded cabbage. The fried rice was average in taste, but it was a pretty generous portion. The chicken and shrimp was very good, lots of tasty chicken chunks, good shrimp, carrots, water chestnuts and veggies in an excellent sauce. The guy taking the order was really funny and had had a geat personality. For what I expected, it delivered perfectly. An "A-OK" no matter how you look at it.

Cashew chicken lunch box was great as a take-out, and the service staff are friendly.

I and my friends had a lunch over there. Foods are good and people are nice. I am surprised they serve vegan food as well.

Consistent, flavorful, and good portion sizes. Went for lunch and the service was pretty quick,…read morethough we went right at opening so they were still in the process of starting their day. Lunch specials are smaller portion, but good for the price (raised to $12.95 now since my last menu photo) We split a lot of dishes because we couldn't decide: Wonton soup appetizer {4.5/5}: Loved how delicate the wontons were and the clear broth was great for a cold day. Tad too salty though. Lunch special --Braised pork belly {3/5}: Very tender, but kind of monotone in flavor. Very filling! Lunch special --Hot and sour gizzards {4.5/5}: This might freak people out in terms of texture, but I LOVE this texture. Good chew and pops of heat from the peppers and acid from the pickled green beans Lunch special --Cumin dish lamb {3/5}: kind of chewy and not as much flavor as I wished, but not bad! Chicken wings {3/5}: Crunchyyyy. Battered wings, not as much flavor as their chongqing chicken which I prefer, but not bad

Really good sichuan food, giant portions, authentic…read more Been meaning to swing by this place. Often cited as one of the best sichuan places around, had to make the trek to see. Outside is very much a busy shopping plaza in not the best part of town. Inside is a completely different story. Very clean and spacious, lots of booths and tables. Decorated well and a lot to see. The staff were friendly but there was a slight language barrier. We fumbled through the menu and found some bites to try. Food came out relatively quick, and that was a bit to manage because there were a lot of plates brought rather quickly. We got pics and dug in. The bites were flavored well. Nothing felt too greasy or under seasoned. The white pepper chicken was very crispy. But not a lot of chicken on each bite. The sweet and sour soup was both sweet and sour, but balanced enough that you could keep on eating it. The dumplings were fresh noodles and the filling was spiced well. The only flop was the spare ribs. Really tasty sauce, but very little meat on the bone. Had to suck on the bones to scrape enough meat off to make it a proper appetizer. It tasted good, just was not easy to eat. Price for the area was high for the neighborhood. It's got the quality and the flavor to command that price easily, but it doesn't match the stores. It's really good, but know that you're getting the real deal sichuan experience. Expect some heat, some saucy fingers, and some bones, and you'll get some really good bites

"Get yourself together now and give me something tasty."…read more(Ringo Starr) I was happy with last night's takeout order from Tasty. It's definitely a "No Frills" kind of place. I was there around 7:00 pm and the first thing I noticed when I walked in was that every chair in the dining room was neatly stacked atop the tables, so it looks to me that they have discontinued table service. Their menu is the typical humongous listing of choices, grouped into Specialties, Appetizers, Soups, Fried Rice, Lo Mein, Chow Mei Fun, Chow Fun, Moo Shu, Chow Mein/Chop Suey, Vegetables, Roast Pork, Chicken, Beef, Seafood, Sweet & Sour, Egg Foo Young, Hunan & Szechuan Specialties, Combination Platters, Diet Dishes, Chef's Suggestions, Side Orders, Vegetarian Dishes, Lunch Specials, Dinner Specials, and Catering. Seriously, there must be 250 choices if you consider portion size and side order options. I went with a small Hot and Sour Soup ($5.70) and an order of Steamed Dumplings ($10). Now, H&S Soup is one of my favorite dishes. It was meatless, which was kind of surprising in light of their $5.70 price, which is a buck or two higher than a lot of their competitors, But it was very flavorful with a dark and spicy broth and loaded with vegetables and plenty of mushrooms and water chestnuts. The eight dumplings were fairly large with a thin wrapper, and none of the big doughy slabs you get once in a while. The meaty filling was very good as was their dipping sauce. My order was prepared quickly and came with fried noodles and a fortune cookie. The young lady at the counter was pleasant and friendly. I would order from them again, if I was passing through the area.
