**REVIEW ONLY FOR THE BARBARA BAR** We came to the Trixie Hotel before dinner on Sunday, and it was very cute and fun. The look and feel of the bar, outside, and gift shop were a 5/5, and I loved how adorably pink and palm springs-ish the entire place feels! We also had the sweetest person welcome and seat us, and we felt very taken care of in the beginning. Our reservation was at 6:00, and there were 4 of us who attended. I ordered the yeehaw cowgirl which was VERY strong, but pretty good. My husband got a frozen drink which was even stronger, but also tasty enough. The prices were quite high for the cocktails, but it was enjoyable to hang out in the area. We were told the kitchen had closed by the time we asked to order the P in a B (pigs in a blanket) at about 6:30pm, and were pretty disappointed. We didn't know there was a cut off time for food, and everyone around us had food on their tables, so that was a bit confusing to us. We asked if there was anything that we could eat, and our waiter said that he could bring us popcorn, which we were happy enough with. I asked for napkins that never arrived, and we were also told that they had run out of champagne, so we couldn't order one of the cocktails we were interested in. Our waiter seemed somewhat irritated with us, but I could have been mistaken. He took our pictures which was very nice of him, but overall, it felt like we were bothering him when we asked for things. I do think it's worth going once to experience the quirky vibes, but I wouldn't say the drinks are anything that standout. THIS REVIEW IS FOR THE BARBARA BAR AND GIFT SHOP I did not stay at the motel overnight. Huge fan of Trixie Mattel, so when I visited Palm Springs this weekend (05/08), I had to check this place out. It's EXACTLY what you'd expect and somehow even better in person. The motel itself is gorgeous, and the staff was incredibly kind and full of personality. You can tell there was a clear vision for the overall vibe and guest experience created by trixie and her team and the staff here execute it extremely well. If they were having a bad day I wouldn't know it. The gift shop is super cute. It's small, but worth stopping into just to see the All Stars crown and parts of her Barbie collection. The Barbara Bar is also way more spacious than the photos make it seem. The drinks were really good. I got the Oh Honey and the Frozen Atomic Bombshell, and I'd honestly recommend both but definitely the latter if you want just one. They were simple, clean cocktails that weren't overly strong, and the lollipop in the Atomic Bombshell was a fun touch. We went on a Friday around 1:45 PM and it wasn't crowded at all, though I'd imagine evenings and weekends you would want to make a ressy. Overall, this is just a really fun spot to visit, even if you're not a Trixie fan. Great atmosphere, friendly staff, good drinks, and light bites too. Trixie Motel is homage to drag queen Trixe Mattel whose style is described by Barbie dolls and who boasts ownership of the property. There are 7 rooms all themed of course and my review is solely based on the bar experience as I did not stay at the motel. While the motel has rooms for rent, there is a ring doorbell on the backside of the property where guests can visit the gift shop. The bar boasts the name Barbara Bar. Visits here must be setup in advance via a reservation via OpenTable. The overall property is stunning as even when visiting the gift shop, you can still see small snippets of the pool, beach balls, etc. Every detail here is pink and crafted with such thought. We made a Barbara Bar reservation for 5:30 pm on a Tuesday evening and were so surprised to see small bites on the menu. Our group was fortunate to get seated on the big pink couch and started off with the Parmesan garlic fries which did not disappoint. There were other great options as well like personal pizzas and pigs in blanket. The variety of themed cocktails, wine, and even some NA drinks were also abundant. The decorating is on point from framed photos on the wall, pillows, the bar and even the bathroom which boasts stellar Palm Springs wallpaper. Trixie Motel is a stellar spot for a photo shoot! I appreciated how welcoming the staff was and how one bartender was able to keep up with the drink and food orders while maintaining a kind attitude. It also appears that outsiders can get a pool pass for $75 based on availability which is a nice perk. As someone who lived in Palm Springs for 15 years, I've seen just about every version of this town... the classic, the kitschy, the quietly luxurious, and the occasionally questionable. So when The Trixie Motel came onto the scene, I was curious. Palm Springs has always had personality, but this place takes it, dips it in glitter, and turns the volume all the way up. Let's be clear... this is not subtle. Every inch of the property is styled, themed, and fully committed to its aesthetic. You're not just checking into a room, you're stepping into a concept. And honestly, I respect that. In a town where so many hotels start to blend together, this one makes sure you remember where you are. Walking through it feels like you've entered a very specific, very pink alternate universe where everything is intentional and nothing is accidental. It's playful, over-the-top, and surprisingly well executed. Now, coming from someone who has lived here, I can say this: Palm Springs has no shortage of beautiful resorts, but very few that are actually fun. This place leans all the way into fun, and doesn't apologize for it. Is it for everyone? No. If you're looking for quiet minimalism and understated luxury, you're going to be overwhelmed in about five minutes. But if you're willing to embrace the spectacle, it's a completely different experience. I was in the neighborhood and I'm a fan, so I thought I'd at least get a "Cynthia C. has checked in at Trixie Motel". But when I started looking around outside, a lovely young lady who works in the gift shop invited me in for a peruse of the public areas. Some people were enjoying the pool and many whimsical pool float options on this beautiful and warm Palm Springs October day, but I didn't grab pics because that seemed intrusive. Didn't want to spoil the fun they were obviously enjoying. The gift shop was small but just what you think when you think Trixie - Barbie Pink accents, and loads of dolls! Plenty of fun makeup from Trixie's line, some requisite logo wear, retro keychains, stickers and other fun and frilly items. We discovered they offer day passes for the pool and have a restaurant with HH specials and food. I really appreciate the way this site is constructed for maximum privacy, but also appreciated that we were welcomed in to look around and hear about some features. While we were in town, Trixie Motel was the only thing on my partner's to-do list. I am not familiar with this scene, but I'm pleased to report that Trixie Motel is fun for fans and laypersons alike. It's nestled behind a pink gate, and you have to ring the doorbell to get in. We were escorted into the Barbara Bar for our reservation, and we took some time to take in the vintage and midcentury accents. Everything. is. pink. I love a good themed bar, and the limited seating makes this feel exclusive, like stepping into a celebrity estate owned by Barbie. The menu is fun, and there were a lot of drinks we wanted to try. My partner had a great time laughing at / trying to explain the in-jokes to me. My understanding is that the drinks are all themed to the different room themes, but we were only there for the bar. The service was very friendly and accommodating. They understand the bar's marketing appeal and were happy to take pictures for us. We were escorted to the gift shop to check that out, and later on there was a massive party, so it's probably advisable to go early. Make sure you schedule a reservation beforehand! read more

My wife and I stopped by here for an afternoon drink in the bar. It truly is a one-of-a-kind place. Hot pink everything, retro design everywhere. The ambiance of the bar and the hotel was the star of our visit here. My wife and I stayed here for two nights in the Oh Honeymoon suite and had a fun time! The room was very clean. The rooms here don't have TVs, but instead feature record players. The front desk has vinyl records you can borrow while you stay. We had some wonderful drinks and tasty pizza at the Barbara Lounge with a couple of local friends we invited over. We didn't go swimming, but the pool looked nice and clean. The whole place has a great and fun atmosphere. You can tell it was thoughtfully remodeled into the space it is today. read more

I've made it my personal mission to come to Trixie Motel once a year and get to experience all uniquely gorgeous rooms. So far we've had the absolute joy of staying at the Queen of Hearts and the Oh Honeymoon suite, each above reproach in upkeep, comfort, and vibe. The location is ideal--tucked in a quiet residential neighborhood, the motel provides a dreamy vacation feel with a lovely view of the mountains, and it's a quick drive (or a leisurely walk) from main street/restaurants/nightlife. The (salt water!!) pool is immaculate. The pink is pinking. The gift shop features a display of Trixie's vintage Barbie dolls, a trademark wig, and her RPDR crown. There's a selection of records to bring and listen to in your room, and you can test and pick something from her cosmetics line (the Dollface cream blush slays). The lobby/bar/patio area is glamorous yet cozy, and picture perfect of course. Everything smells good (oddly enough, that's a thing). Breakfast and coffee are available (in cute little baskets) daily. No TVs in the rooms (because that's not the Madonna Inn, lol). The motel is 21 and up (as it should) and no pets (for obvious reasons). The AC works hard (though slightly noisy at times, which didn't bother me). Same for water pressure (older buildings can be disappointing in that regard, but no issues here). The double shower in the Oh Honeymoon is *chef's kiss*. The hospitality members are on top of it without being intrusive (or snooty). We were delayed by traffic last time; I called the reception to give them an ETA heads up for a late check in (past 10PM). They were chill and graciously understanding on the phone--and throughout the rest of our stay--whether it had to do with drink service, extra towels, etc. (we're not demanding, but it's wonderful to see that the staff actually wants to be there, and happy to help). A special shout out to Christian who, in addition to being professional and accommodating, is genuinely kind. Thank you for making us feel welcome and treating us with care, respect, and SO. MUCH. ZESTY. HUMOR. The only thing that could possibly make the experience better is to run into Trixie herself, but her presence there is palpable either way (Just one tiny note: being a million degrees in PS, the metal gate door knob heats up to the temperature of the Sun's surface. This is a beautifully unique & magical, boutique motel in the of Palm Springs. If you are looking into this hotel, it is very likely you know of the famous drag queen, Trixie Mattel...and/or have seen the HBO Series "Trixie Motel" where David Silver & Trixie transform a dilapidated motel into a fascinating, high spirited, magnificently curated, properly staffed and obviously, very LGBTQ+ friendly. We recommend watching (or rewatching) the HBO Series, prior to your stay, so that you can see the magnificent transformation of the property. We booked a 4 night stay in The Pink Flamingo Suite to celebrate our 5th Wedding Anniversary from August 5-9, 2025. The room, pool & entire property met or exceeded our expectations. The staff is so kind & friendly, and are so much knowledgeable about the motel details, as well as local restaurants, bars & entertainment. Angel & Laura in the main office/gift shop, and Shaun & Christian in the Barbara Lounge, were all so kind, informative and helpful, that we felt like we made new friends for life. The entire staff was amazing in this way, but we didn't have the opportunity to interact with everyone. We did not want to leave at the end of our stay. Our mattress was the most comfortable mattress we've ever slept on, to the point that we had to get info from the staff. They were obviously very sweet and upfront about any information we wanted to know. Additionally, the pressure of the shower head was top notch & very relaxing. Are there minor flaws? Of course, but that's going to come with any sort of renovation project, but they are so minor, most people wouldn't even notice. If you want to nitpick & point out those minor imperfections, that would be like coming into my home and pointing out the flaws to my home renovations. Nitpicking reviews are not appealing to most anyway. HIGHLY RECOMMEND FOR A WONDERFUL GETAWAY IN PALM SPRINGS, especially if you part of the LGBTQ+ Community. As a big fan, I wanted to love the Trixie Motel, but honestly, it was disappointing, especially for the price. What you get is essentially a glorified motel with themed rooms, but none of the amenities or service you'd expect at this price point. There were almost no real amenities besides the pool. Drinks were extremely overpriced, and the "breakfast basket" was literally a Chobani yogurt and a cheap croissant, which felt pretty insulting given the nightly rate. On top of that, they charge for everything, early check-in included, even when the room was clearly already ready. The whole experience felt more like a cash grab than something thoughtfully designed for guests. They also ran a 30% off promotion just weeks after I booked, and when I asked about prorating my stay, they refused. It's hard not to feel taken advantage of. I'm still a fan of Trixie, but I'd honestly recommend spending your money to see her perform instead of staying at the motel. For the price, this stay should have been memorable, in a good way, but it just wasn't. read more

Start off by saying we got a suprise visit from The QUEEN herself Trixie Mattel Bucketlist check We stayed in both the Atomic Bombshell Room and the Flower Power Room for Palm Springs Pride and it was absolutely magical! The rooms are gorgeous, full of personality, and always sparkling clean a huge shoutout to the sweet and wonderful housekeeping team who make everything look picture-perfect every time. Let me preface this by saying we did not stay at the hotel. The Barbara Bar is now open to the public through reservations on Open Table. The place is cute, small and perfectly pink. Sadly, I didn't get our bartenders name, but his drinks were amazing. Most drinks were of course pink. Craft cocktail prices were $16 to $20. Fun snacks on the menu too. The Pink Popcorn looked yummy. Staff was welcoming and friendly. Reservations are for 90 minutes. Great photo ops for social. Be sure to check out the powder room. My review is only for the gift shop/bar area - I did not stay overnight at the motel. I was going to be visiting Palm Springs for one day while on a trip for my 30th birthday and knew I had to stop at the Trixie Motel. I nabbed my group a 4:45 reservation as we wanted to stop in for a drink before our dinner reservations at 5:45. The motel was easy to get to as it's right off the main strip and there was plenty of street parking right outside. We ended up showing up 20 mins early and figured we would see if they would allow us in early. We rang the doorbell and a woman came to open it and greet us and ask if we had a reservation. Once we said yes, she immediately knew my name and greeted us with open arms and mentioned that my glittery pink dress reminded her of one that Trixie wore for pride. She didn't seem to mind at all that we were early and we appreciated that she was also prepared for our reservation by knowing exactly who we were. We were brought initially into the gift shop to have our IDs checked and then brought to our table in the Barbara bar. We had a corner section of the booth area and there was only 2 other groups in the main area and a larger group in the separate room with the velvet curtains. Every group there was super respectful and having a good time. The bartender who took our drink order was just as nice as the woman who got us checked in. I ordered the Trixie Motel and my group got a Flower Power and a Negroni. The drinks were good although not particularly strong in our case. The bartender then came back around and mentioned to each table that they just launched a glittery heart shaped pink Jell-O shot and of course we couldn't resist. The aesthetics of the place are wonderful. It truly feels for a moment like you are stepping into a pink dream. If you watched the show and/or are a fan of Trixie, it is definitely worth a visit. Everyone was so nice and it was so nice to pop in for a cocktail. Before we left we did try to pop back into the gift shop, but it was crowded in there as another group had the same idea. The gift shop is particularly small so it fills up quickly. It was mostly items from Trixie Cosmetics, some reusable tumblers and some shirts. Nothing particularly stood out to me and I didn't get a look at prices. The gift shop could maybe use a few more little trinkets like stickers or keychains, but it's still cute for what it is! What a fun place! I took my wife here as an early birthday present. We stayed in the Malibu Barbara room - it is at the far end of the motel, and on the corner. When you walk inside the room, you are greeted with vibrant colors and high ceilings. The color scheme of the room was amazing, and I loved the color choices. It felt very Malibu, for sure. The service we received here was top-tier. We were greeted with friendly faces, and warm smiles, and felt very welcome. Upon our arrival, we were treated to complimentary drinks! The gals here made sure to let us know about the drinks, the gift shop, and the records that you can take back for your room! Unfortunately, during our stay, their lounge, the BARBARA, was under renovation, so we weren't able to check it out. They made all the drinks in the gift shop/office. The room itself felt very spacious. They told us that this room was bigger than all the other rooms, so we felt very lucky to have chosen this one! We had a tough time sleeping. Just a note for future folks, there is a black-out shade behind the curtains to block out the light that shines in the hallway outside the main window! Also, make sure to push the curtain a little to the left to block out the lights that might creep in on the sides. I am very sensitive to light, so I couldn't quite sleep. Not their fault at all - hence, no stars taken away. The bed was also too soft for us, but we made it work. Also. THE TOWELS. Friends, I swear it's the little things, but after a shower, the towels were so SOFT and it smelled lovely. You know when you're at a big chain hotel, and the towels are stiff and reek of bleach? These towels felt like they were made by the softest cotton ever and smelled like fresh daisies. I don't know what detergent or softener they use, but I literally exclaimed when I wrapped it around me. Like, the towels get 5 stars alone. (We stayed at Margaritaville the night before and those towels were TRASH) Overall, we enjoy our stay! We are already talking about when our next trip will be. We were worried we wouldn't really get to see much since we didn't have a room reserved, but we found online that we could visit the gift shop. We came on a Saturday evening and the street parking was really easy. When we rung the doorbell, we were greeted SO enthusiastically and warmly by one of the employees working the gift shop! We later learned that their name is Laura! BIG SHOUTOUT TO LAURA WE LOVE!!! (I do not know Laura's pronouns so will default to they/them here) Laura is the reason our experience was so delightful!!! They took us to the gift shop and we had a great conversation. We then asked if the bar was open, and they said we needed a reservation, but they took the extra step to go ask the bar and then make a reservation for us! Laura took us to the bar, which was beautiful!! We were able to get some drinks (and they had non-alcoholic drinks, which we prefer! They were DELICIOUS) and got their hummus plate (one of the best hummus plates we've ever had!) There were maybe 8-10 other people at the bar and everyone was in good spirits, it was a lovely atmosphere. The server was very sweet too. Afterwards, we went back to the gift shop and Laura unexpectedly asked if we wanted our photos taken, which was so sweet We got some really great photos! Overall, we were probably there for about an hour, and even within such a short time we felt like we had an incredible experience. Bartender incredible, food and drinks absolutely fabulous. Laura, the greeter not so much. After leaving the Barbara bar myself and my date exited through the pool. We stopped to take a picture as the scenery was so cute, unknowingly this was now allowed. Laura quickly jumped down our throats stating the pool deck was for guests only. To our surprise we quickly were ushered out. As a paying patron this was so shocking to me after spending over an hour on food and drinks inside. I'd love to give Trixie Motel a higher rating but our visit was tainted by Laura. read more
