The color he said my hair would be and we reviewed it and I loved the example pics.

This was the worst salon experience i've ever had and will not be returning. I left with visible frizzy, partially wet and stiff hair. They didn't even ask if I wanted serum for the frizz or stiff -ness to help manage it. I told them to blow dry my hair on cold because I have wavy hair and they did on full heat/full blast. I was clearly upset leaving and I asked for light brown full color. I left with black hair. Worst experience ever. Pictured below. I had to go home and put in oil myself and use my blowout brush. Also huge language barrier and don't recommend if you want your hair to turn out how you like. Save yourself time/ money and go somewhere else. Cherry on top is- they watch you to see what review you leave on yelp and want you to make 5stars as they lean over your shoulder and watch. That's the reason the reviews are so high and only from men. DO NOT COME HERE.

DAVID is my ride or die barber at this point. His are amazing, his service is amazing, just everything. The owner also does good cuts! Ask for the fashionable guy with glasses, works every day except Friday Sat. Honestly the best!!!

I got a straight perm here and it was very good for the price. I also came back to the salon for a touch up and they immediately touched up my hair without charging me, Customer is spot on! They also offer drinks and are very welcoming.

Today we had Roy cut my boyfriend's hair since Phuong was busy. Happy to see the shop has a lot of business today, it was super active! Roy did an amazing job and did a really good styling job as well. He did a trim and fade, my boyfriend hasn't had a proper cut in a few months so it was a great result. The total was $35 before tip. TRND is the place for the entire family. The stylists are amazing. I've seen huge diversity in their skills. The place is clean and well kept. But the thing that you don't always get in a salon is a family like atmosphere. My 94 year old grandma is treated like a princess. The owner rolled out the red carpet, and they all treat her like she's their own grandma. My 9 year old wanted color. They did a fabulous job with an ombré effect. She was thrilled! I won't go anywhere else. I highly recommend TRND.

I was worried because it was my first time here, but they have very good services and advises! Also good deals! Would come back whenever I have a chance! The staff name Helen is very good at scalp massage!

TRND was recommended by a friend, and we were told to see Phuong. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted right away and felt welcome. Phuong helped recommend the perfect cut since we weren't sure what style to go with, and it turned out great! The whole process was quick we were in and out in under 15 minutes. I do not recommend this place. My boyfriend has been here a few times and Phuong cuts his hair. He never used to not follow instructions given by client, today my boyfriend went to get a hair cut. He wanted to get a fade on the sides and a SLIGHT trim on the top. Phuong proceeded to ignore that and cut his hair so short on the top that now he is forced to wear it only towards one side. After not being satisfied with doing that he proceeded to cut his beard after he had strictly told him not to. He left my boyfriend's neck which is extremely sensitive all red and swollen. This is the reason that my boyfriend does not get his beard cut anywhere. Beyond that he couldn't even line it properly, if you're going to go against a customers wishes the least you can do is do the service properly. Very disappointed in his service as he used to be a great hair stylist. No longer our choice.

DT is my guy!! Always a blessing when I come in. I feel like my self care is so important and having a pleasant service on top of building a long lasting relationship is what we need more of. Went to Hiywot to do a total hair change. She did my previous dye job of bleaching to go to teal on the bottom half of my hair.We dyed my hair bright red this time. She did amazing! She makes me feel like I'm the most important person and treats me with care. I'm not tender headed but it was wonderful to have her be aware of that possibility. She took care to not over do it on that portion so as to not fry my hair. It took a good while, but she is so great at making it not feel like it's taking forever. When you have an important event and you need to look sharp you want to go to a reliable hair "stylist" who will listen to what you want and suggest improvements and ultimately do what the customer has asked for. This was my second time getting a haircut from Phuong and as a repeat customer, I expected Phuong to match the fine job he did the first time. I was at the door exactly at the time of my appointment. He took his own time switching a customer who was already getting his hair cut from a colleague to his desk and after I waited a good 10 mins for my turn he rushed through my hair cut like he was mowing a lawn. He got the hair dryer so damn close to my head that it hurt and he did not even realize it cos he was in a rush to move on to the next client and was not paying any attention. The haircut had already gone wrong and he used the clippers to try and correct some of uneven cuts he made and again did not bother listening when i showed it to him. After i got out of there, looking like Mr.Potato Head, and being thoroughly disappointed, I decided to call him and tell him that the hair cut looked really bad to see if he would help correct it. Things went really bad. With customers still in his store this guy starts yelling at me. He claims that he has been cutting hair for 15 years and can do it in 15 mins or whatever...so what...i've been getting hair cuts for 30 years and can tell a terrible job. Summary is if you want a stylist who will listen and not do whatever the heck he wants go elsewhere. This one is just your neighborhood barber with a terrible attitude and an ego that tickles his ears while giving you a haircut. Also seems to be a pattern based on another review read more

If you're a guy I'd avoid this place. I got my hair cut 5 times here (way too many), 2 were legit, 3 were disasters. Phuong is very nice but he takes only 10 min per cut and goes so fast that he often mis cuts. Phuong ignores the customer's requests because he only knows how to do 1 men's hair style. The guy needs to slow down and care more about his clients satisfaction than fitting as many appointments in as he can. May be different for women's hair cuts as this is a salon not a barber. Update: Edited to 1 star after Phuong tried to harass me over text just like the lady below who left a 2 star for her keratin treatment. Had to block him. read more

Absolutely horrible experience, I asked Phoung to do layers and a very small trim. I repeated myself once to make sure he got it, he started yelling and complaining that I was "disrespectful" for repeating myself. The only reason I repeated myself was because he was cutting of way too much hair and not doing what I asked!! Not only did he not listen, he began insulting me and yelling at me. I kindly asked him to stop and tried to keep quiet because he clearly couldn't be reasoned with, but he became more aggressive, saying very hurtful things, screaming, and tugging at my hair. I told him to stop touching me and stop screaming, but he kept getting more aggressive and chased me out of the salon. He kept saying I was a bad person for not smiling (while he was insulting and yelling at me), and that he would make me "remember this day" for the rest of my life. What a terrible experience,I'm honestly so confused why he behaved like this for no reason and cannot understand how someone can treat others this way Also - this salon smells like rotten eggs. Their brushes have wads of other people's hair. Extremely unsanitary. DO NOT COME HERE read more

Phuong is great! I have cut with him for over a year now as well, and his been a great barber and a great friend! I always felt comfortable cutting with him and every time he cuts it well! Phuong makes it a priority to make sure you feel welcome and leave happy. I recommend if you are cutting for the first time with Phuong, have a style in mind and show him; he is sure to make your dreams become reality. I can't believe I haven't written a review yet! Phuong is absolutely amazing! My son and husband always leave here with AMAZING haircuts. Each and every time. My husband has been going here for 2 years and my son recently started. Phuong, his wife and their child are all so wonderful and friendly. Really love this place and recommend it to anyone and everyone! It's great for kids as well. My son used to go to the kid themed barbers, but i realized they weren't doing such a good job with his hair. Phuong does a great job and styles it after. My son is 5 and he loves it every time!! read more

DT at TRND is legit. I get a fade here every Friday to keep me clean and ready for the weekend. Skin fade straight cuts and the slight trim on top keeps me on my toes and ready for the weekend. Highly recommended if you looking for a new dope barber. read more

Phuong has OVER 20 YEARS in creating new hair styles and redefining the meaning of classic. We are a diverse group of hair stylists with years of experience in the hair industry. We have been styling people of all genders and ethnicities because that's what our team is made of. Start your TRND with us.

Meet the Business Owner: Phuong D.

Phuong was born in Vietnam where he started his young career as an architect for his local town. His passion for hair began when he started cutting and styling his own hair to create the unique look he wanted. His friends, family, neighbors started noticing and would ask for a cut. Until then, he realized how much he loves helping people feel and look their best. Eventually, he opened his own salon. When Phuong moved to the bay area, his dream was to share his creativity and passion to more people. After 15 years of cutting and styling hair, his passion still lives strong and he's enjoying all the new people he's meeting. To Phuong, cutting hair is more than a service, it's an experience.

I did an extensive research using AI and came upon this establishment. I called last week and was able to schedule an appointment the following week (Tuesday at 10am !!!)) I didn't know what to expect since I've never gotten a perm before but the hair stylist was Yoko and she was so kind and patient. She helped getting me situated where we discussed what type of perm I wanted. She shampooed my hair and that off the bat was so relaxing and set the tone of my experience. We had a great conversations as she prepared my hair - while doing the perm I was given some nice Korean coffee and was asked if I was comfortable while the perm was setting it. Yoko provided me Instructions on how to maintain the perm and also provided me products to help maintain my hair. My months of growing my hair out and finally getting my first perm experience was fantastic. I'll becoming back in 6weeks for my touch ups. Yoko really took care of me and I enjoyed the experience!!!

They are always very friendly and accommodating for a walk-in appointment. The salon is hygienic and clean. They also have a very nice selection of gel polish colors, especially cateye colors. I recently had an ingrown toenail (my first ever in 33 years) after my latest visit but the owner was quick to help communicate this with the nail tech doing my pedicure so it doesn't happen again. This made me feel very understood and respected as a regular customer here. The owner also tries to remember the regulars at the salon and always offer a warm welcoming, which is very nice of her. They offer a discount for cash payments, but also accept Venmo (even for tips) while credit card has a small charge. I think their prices are very reasonable and definitely cheaper than the last salon I went to before switching to Pedi Nail Lounge. There is a large shared parking lot in front so plenty of parking nearby. I also like that there is a coffee shop (Blvd coffee), food spot (Chispiro's) and Lucky Grocery store right next door that makes the location extremely convenient for me. 5/5 , definitely recommend if you're looking for a new nail salon

The worst experience I've had as a customer! After reading the good reviews for the salon I've decided to trust and go to get a simple hair trim I asked to keep my long lawyers and frames around my hair that I already had and to please keep the long length. It was the fasted and most careless haircuts I've ever received, in less than 10 minutes he (the owner) shopped off more than 5 inches off my hair without listening to what I've had asked for even though I remained him I wanted to keep it long I expressed my disliked by saying it was way too short, while blow drying it I told him I wasn't happy with the results he said he had only cut 2 inches off when it was obviously not true, he proceed to say comments of how it was dried, and it didn't look pretty that he was the professional and that in his 15 years he never had someone with that long hair, it wasn't enough ruining my hair but he also insulted me, he told me I should listen to the "professional" (I been to real professionals who listen to the customers' preferences), as a hair stylist that has been working for that long he should know how much hair can mean to someone, and how it can affect someone's self esteem. Even though I know hair will grow back it doesn't take away the horrible experience I had in this salon, for some people hair is part of their culture and religion, something sacred. If you are not going to listen to the customers why even bothering having a salon. When I came back for a refund he yelled at me and my sister while we were just trying to have a respectful conversation about the situation. You can see how chunky and short he left it compared how it was before, it's so sad to see how some business owners don't have any kind of respect for customers they just care about the money. read more

My initial concern revolved around a small bald spot at the top-back of my head, which I attempted to conceal with my longer hair on the sides and back. I communicated this issue clearly to the hairstylist during my visit. However, upon returning home, I was disappointed to discover that not only was the bald spot now more noticeable, but the hair in that area had been cut too short, making it impossible to conceal the spot effectively. I've had more successful haircuts at other salons that charge between $15 to $18, where my instructions were meticulously followed. Additionally, the haircut I received at this salon had some unevenness; one side was longer than the other, resulting in an imbalanced look. Considering the $35 price tag, I had anticipated a higher level of precision. While I must commend the professionalism and friendliness of the staff, I couldn't help but feel that the overall quality of the haircut fell short of my expectations. I'm only giving 2 stars because Phuong was friendly and outgoing. Otherwise, I am really upset/disappointed. The very first thing I said was, I want to keep the long hair and do something with a long hair style, I've been growing it out (for most of the year). He just went is own way and without checking, very quickly cut off everything in the back, and also shortened the top quite a bit as well until I complained politely that I had asked to keep it long and he seemed to be cutting off everything. He wrapped it up very quickly and I left. It wasn't a bad haircut, but it was NOTHING like what I wanted. All those months growing it out, wasted. Also, in an attempt to give him an example of what I was thinking, I mentioned Tom Hiddleston in Loki. He had no clue who I was talking about, but from then on kept making comments about "Oh you want to look like a big movie star, right?" It was sortof patronizing and bothered me. Took a long time to leave my barber in San Mateo (Binh's family hair care) since I moved down here. It's great because this place is a few places from where I live. The vibe is nice and the booths are clean. Music is good. Getting appointments is pretty easy through Vagaro and the stylists will try to be flexible but also realistic, especially the first time I walked in. Phuong is quick and will try to take you if you walked in, and he has an instinct for what looks good. He did my hair for when I proposed. David is my go-to because he is good with input, very methodical, and does not rush. Nice, since straight Asian hair can easily show any mishaps. read more

I have to redo my review. After a while my color started to fade quickly. It went from red to very pink. The owner did not have my color which was a dark maroon red so he pointed out a red color but it did not come out anything like he showed me. I should have said something but now it's fading to a lighter pink pink color. I wanted to go back to get a darker color but I'm nervous it would go back fading fast. My hair is damaged a bit from them bleaching it twice . So be careful where you get it dyed. They do a great job on the cut but cheap dye. :/ read more

Phuong was super friendly and caring and talked to me to make sure he understood what haircut I wanted. He was fast, yet precise and made sure to take his time in all the necessary areas.
