When walking in TRND Salon you are greeted and asked if you have an appointment. I recommend an appointment beforehand when I entered there was 3 people. Waiting and I was able to be helped first because of the appointment. When I got there the street was empty and parking was readily available. My barber was Jose he did an awesome job he was efficient and finished in about 40 minutes. I highly recommend them. In total the haircut was $35 without tip. read more

My go-to spot is Trnd Salon for a haircut, and get Richard as my barber. From start to finish, the experience was great. Richard is not only highly skilled but also incredibly attentive to detail. He took the time to listen to what I wanted and provided valuable input to ensure the cut would suit my style and preferences. The atmosphere at Trnd Salon is welcoming and stylish, making the whole experience even better. This place is fantastic! 3rd time coming here and they never disappoint. Me and my girls (9&11) come here if we want a haircut and they always deliver!! They are very gentle and try to accomodate you even if you don't have an appointment. Great haircuts, great service, good honest people! You have to appreciate barbers for having patience with children. My oldest son is hypersensitive and NEVER sits still for haircuts. Despite the struggle, the guys were very calm and attentive. My second son also could not sit still the whole haircut, but he did pretty well and was able to follow along with the barber. He did a great job fixing his hair... saved us from a botched haircut! Both boys left loving their haircuts. They could not stop smiling when they looked in the mirror and volunteered to take photos. Very rushed haircut. 10 mins tops. I saw him cut two people before me this fast. For $37 was expecting a little bit more. Showed him two pictures of what I wanted and he cut it way too short unlike the photos. Like if I wanted a Super Cuts experience I would have went there for 1/3 the price. read more

This is the second time Phuong has decided to multitask during my appointment slot. This time he's double booked and has 3 other clients at the same time. I get that you want to make money but customer service is the worst I've had. He does a decent haircut but he won't focus on your and will make mistakes due to his focus being on 3 different clients at the same time. If you value your haircut quality, I suggest you look elsewhere. read more

When I moved to San Jose I was looking for a great haircut which as we can all appreciate how hard it can be to find. One day while I was out for a run I passed TRND and decided to give them a try. After my run I headed over to TRND and got my haircut by Phuong. Phuong does an amazing job of cutting hair and I have been back ever since. From the moment I walk in, Phuong and the rest of the staff at TRND make me feel welcome. He always remembers how I like I hair my cut and the only thing I have to say if I was to go short or keep a bit of length. Other than that he knows how I like my sides faded and my hair styled! He can get pretty busy so I would recommend schedule an appointment but they also take walk ins if you are not able to schedule in advance. read more

Ladies forewarning this is a barber shop. Despite the pictures shown they very clearly do not have cater to women's hair services (there are only 2 services offered for women). No hair products, no blow out (which is standard with a color service), no color protector on the hairline. Overall place is dirty and disorganized. Giving 2 stars because they seemed to have a lot of regular male clients coming in while I was there, so this is more of a warning for females. read more

The person cutting my hair took a walk in while she was cutting my hair so I should have gotten 50% off. I asked for a trim and was very adamant that it was only about an inch off. I freaked when I saw 3-4 inch peices come off. They didn't part my hair while cutting it so it was so uneven. I usually feel bad writing bad reviews but the whole reason I went here is cuz it says 5 stars, so just wanna warn some of you it is def not 5 star service all the timmee. Also the hair brush smelled like cigarettes. Could have just been a bad day for them, but consider this if you're looking for an even haircut and warm water when your hair is washed. read more

Very friendly guy but when I said low taper and showed him the photos he kinda ignored them and looked at me and said "low taper good" and proceeded to cut my hair disregarding what I wanted and really only cut my hair in his own style and his own way. And it really was a bummer because I was tryna feel fresh and confident for lunar new years but I guess not :( read more

Meet the Business Owner: Phuong D.

Phuong was born in Vietnam where he started his young career as an architect for his local town. His passion for hair began when he started cutting and styling his own hair to create the unique look he wanted. His friends, family, neighbors started noticing and would ask for a cut. Until then, he realized how much he loves helping people feel and look their best. Eventually, he opened his own salon. When Phuong moved to the bay area, his dream was to share his creativity and passion to more people. After 15 years of cutting and styling hair, his passion still lives strong and he's enjoying all the new people he's meeting. To Phuong, cutting hair is more than a service, it's an experience.

We had a great conversations as she prepared my hair - while doing the perm I was given some nice Korean coffee and was asked if I was comfortable while the perm was setting it. Yoko provided me Instructions on how to maintain the perm and also provided me products to help maintain my hair. My months of growing my hair out and finally getting my first perm experience was fantastic. I'll becoming back in 6weeks for my touch ups. I really really wanted to make this place my go to for gel x and builder gel nails, but they simply…read moredo not respect their customers' time. I do not think they keep track of appointments and, if they do, I simply cannot imagine how. I have tried texting and the response I get every time is "ok", even if I ask a question in my appointment request. I've tried making an appointment online and the appointment slots are always available and open, which can't be true. While in the salon, I've seen them answer the phone when someone calls to make an appointment, they are always on speakerphone, and I have never seen anyone write anything down after the phone call, they say ok and then just continue to work. Out of the 5 or 6 times I've been here I have only been seen at the time of my appointment once. Once! I am often waiting 30-45 mins and I stay because I have a very tight schedule and make appointments on the only days I can. I'm currently sitting waiting for my 5:00 appointment and it is 5:40 and there are 5 others also waiting, though I don't know what time their appointments are or were. (At 5:06 my manicurist asked me to wait 15 mins and I said fine....but I ended up leaving at 5:45 because she was doing someone's pedicure.) I have always been happy with the services I've received here and their prices are reasonable, which are the reasons for the 2 stars, but I simply will not be back due to their constant lack of respect of "appointment times".

The worst experience I've had as a customer! After reading the good reviews for the salon I've decided to trust and go to get a simple hair trim I asked to keep my long lawyers and frames around my hair that I already had and to please keep the long length. It was the fasted and most careless haircuts I've ever received, in less than 10 minutes he (the owner) shopped off more than 5 inches off my hair without listening to what I've had asked for even though I remained him I wanted to keep it long I expressed my disliked by saying it was way too short, while blow drying it I told him I wasn't happy with the results he said he had only cut 2 inches off when it was obviously not true, he proceed to say comments of how it was dried, and it didn't look pretty that he was the professional and that in his 15 years he never had someone with that long hair, it wasn't enough ruining my hair but he also insulted me, he told me I should listen to the "professional" (I been to real professionals who listen to the customers' preferences), as a hair stylist that has been working for that long he should know how much hair can mean to someone, and how it can affect someone's self esteem. Even though I know hair will grow back it doesn't take away the horrible experience I had in this salon, for some people hair is part of their culture and religion, something sacred. If you are not going to listen to the customers why even bothering having a salon. When I came back for a refund he yelled at me and my sister while we were just trying to have a respectful conversation about the situation. You can see how chunky and short he left it compared how it was before, it's so sad to see how some business owners don't have any kind of respect for customers they just care about the money. read more

My initial concern revolved around a small bald spot at the top-back of my head, which I attempted to conceal with my longer hair on the sides and back. I communicated this issue clearly to the hairstylist during my visit. However, upon returning home, I was disappointed to discover that not only was the bald spot now more noticeable, but the hair in that area had been cut too short, making it impossible to conceal the spot effectively. I've had more successful haircuts at other salons that charge between $15 to $18, where my instructions were meticulously followed. Additionally, the haircut I received at this salon had some unevenness; one side was longer than the other, resulting in an imbalanced look. Considering the $35 price tag, I had anticipated a higher level of precision. While I must commend the professionalism and friendliness of the staff, I couldn't help but feel that the overall quality of the haircut fell short of my expectations. I had hoped for a stellar first impression, but unfortunately, this experience did not meet the standards I had in mind. read more

I'm only giving 2 stars because Phuong was friendly and outgoing. Otherwise, I am really upset/disappointed. The very first thing I said was, I want to keep the long hair and do something with a long hair style, I've been growing it out (for most of the year). He just went is own way and without checking, very quickly cut off everything in the back, and also shortened the top quite a bit as well until I complained politely that I had asked to keep it long and he seemed to be cutting off everything. He wrapped it up very quickly and I left. It wasn't a bad haircut, but it was NOTHING like what I wanted. All those months growing it out, wasted. Also, in an attempt to give him an example of what I was thinking, I mentioned Tom Hiddleston in Loki. He had no clue who I was talking about, but from then on kept making comments about "Oh you want to look like a big movie star, right?" It was sortof patronizing and bothered me. Like, no, I liked a dude's hairstyle and assumed you'd know who he was. I will not be going back again. read more

Took a long time to leave my barber in San Mateo (Binh's family hair care) since I moved down here. It's great because this place is a few places from where I live. The vibe is nice and the booths are clean. Music is good. Getting appointments is pretty easy through Vagaro and the stylists will try to be flexible but also realistic, especially the first time I walked in. Phuong is quick and will try to take you if you walked in, and he has an instinct for what looks good. He did my hair for when I proposed. David is my go-to because he is good with input, very methodical, and does not rush. Nice, since straight Asian hair can easily show any mishaps. read more

Absolutely thrilled with the experience at TRND salon!! My boyfriend asked his stylist to choose a haircut that would suit him best, and they nailed it. The result? Phenomenal. He looked amazing before, but now he's absolutely glowing with confidence and style. The cut complements his face shape perfectly and adds such a cool, polished edge. Even better, he loves it too!
