I really enjoyed this golf place this past Saturday! I can't believe I used to live in Aiea and never had the time to check it out before. We always made plans to come because of how close it was but never actually set a date. There's a lot of parking, they do have a private lot. Go past Down To Earth (used to be Toys R Us) and park in their lot. When you enter, there's a window to talk to the receptionist lady and she tells you when the next available putting time is if you don't have a reservation. When we got there, the next time was at 2:30 pm which was perfect because it was 2:20 pm. 10 min wait isn't bad. They do sell food and water. Unfortunately, that day they didn't have shave ice, sadness. She did have us start a little earlier, which was nice! So she gave us clubs and had us see if they're the right height for us. This outdoor mini golf has 18 holes and let me tell youuuuuuuu, come dressed appropriately because girlll I was expecting it to be a breeze but golfing is actually really hard. She did give us a score card and it tells you how many times it should take get that ball in the hole. At the end, I remember my score was 13 over the total or something like that but it is possible to do it in the amount that it says it is. I'd definitely come back and be more prepared for the long standing so I'll definitely be wearing shoes LOL i know, who goes golfing in slippers..... but I thought itd be as fast as glow putt putt golfing. Pros: The "tropics" part is nice with all the beautiful plant life. It's affordable and free for a kid on their birthday. Cons: The place is a complete dump. The fake rocks are all busted around the course, the carpets are all completely in shambles, and it's just very obvious there has been zero care or maintenance put into the place in many years. I'm sure it must be difficult to keep the course clean of leaves and debris with all the plants around, but it's clear they don't even try. When we arrived the first thing we noticed were several "NO" signs that just felt super unwelcoming. At that time there was also a "back in 15min" sign on the window as the employee must have been on a break. Obviously people need breaks, so not a big deal, but the lack of staff along with all the unwelcoming signs just made us feel like we wanted to turn around and leave right away. Unless this place gets a major overhaul we definitely will not go back. read more

A cheap, off-the-beaten-path place to play some mini-golf while having some outstanding BBQ. PROS: Out of the touristy area of Oahu, so they're usually isn't a crowd. Very affordable prices for all categories of customers. The best thing about this location, other than the prices, is the snack shack. It has a very good BBQ with once again, bargain prices. Parking isn't very bad here either. This place is very kid-friendly. Recommend putting on bug spray since the location runs parallel to a stream and mosquitos love this area. CONS: The holes could use some more creativity for a better experience. Also, the carpet needs to be replaced on half of the holes. Lots of the balls for rent are ready to be retired and seem to wobble. Bathrooms could use a facelift as well. read more

This place is really cute! Been here years ago but it changed a bit. My kids recently went here & they said they had a blast. So the one thing I know is... they do have cheap & pretty awesome reservations. Reason why I'm posting this is because we need a place for my sons baby shower. So I spoke with someone the day my kids went in with their brother, and they showed me a pamphlet of their activities & offers. A mini golf course is an unlikely place for great smoked BBQ but Tropics surprises. We ordered their 3 meat plate (brisket, pork belly, and pulled pork) and their pulled pork nachos. Their brisket was very moist and flavorful, the pork belly had a good combination of fat and lean. Their lilikoi BBQ sauce is very fruity and went well with the meats. We went last weekend, we had a party of 7 but you have to reserve your party but it wouldn't let me do it for 7 so we had to split 4&3 which in my opinion is dumb. So me and my friend had the 2 younger kids and her husband & mine had their oldest. I guess it worked out but still I think we would've had a more fun time if we did it together. There was a lot of greenery all around which is nice but also brought out a few bugs so bug spray will be a big help and they're always blowing out the leaves that's on the field so that's a plus. Haven't been here in forever... but my hubby and I wanted to get out... and with the recent shut down due to COVID (again!) we weren't left with much choices. So I called to see if they were still going to be open. They said they were and that only the indoor mini golf were a part of the closure. Sure enough, they stayed open and we had a grand time! The facilities were well lit... the hanging lights really give it a new ambiance from what I remember. The course seemed long too... and was well worth the fee (under $10)! The staff there is so friendly and warm. It was NOT crowded at all which was nice... and yet I hope for them to pick up business and thrive especially during these times. Also, theres a place for private parties (although they're not holding them at the time bc of COVID). We went at night, which to me was the best. The lights really add to the fun, and during these summer months, it was cooler than going during the day. Another surprise that I don't remember them having before was their new BBQ menu. It was really good! From brisket to smoked pork... the flavor was spot on, sauces were tasty (fav: lilikoi BBQ) and super tender! Portions are big and the prices were good! Hubby and I shared a plate (which we never do) and we even had leftovers! We think we'll wait a couple of weeks and then go again! Looking forward to trying their shave ice too! I come from the mainland and the only downgrade would be the putting greens are a little simple, no structures as obstacles as we have on the mainland. But, that being said, many have closed recently over here. The "greens" were well maintained, as well as everything else!! My nephew and I played a round and we had a great time! Brought our grandson here because the glow golf at the mall closed up. We had lots of fun here and the tress provided lots of shade. We are now waiting for our food. First time trying it out. I was disappointed at the customer service and rude looks I received as I was ordering my meal. Once I received my meal, the fries were undercooked and when asked to make another one... the employees were being rude. All of my friends said the fries and tater tots were undercooked. The employees stated they needed to clean the oven.. so why is that okay? Absolutely will not eat anything here again. Their shaved ice isn't the same like other places as well. Also, we were enjoying ourselves and we had four people in our group.. so it took a minute for all of us to go for each hole. There were people behind us and we told them they can go ahead of us, so they aren't waiting. The employee came by saying we needed to hurry up after I told them we had already offered for them to go before us. The employees were unprofessional and disrespectful. The whole place looked like a dump.. they have not updated any of the carpets or rocks/decorations and it shows. I do not recommend this location or management to anyone. I used to come here when it was Jungle River and it's pretty much the same, except there are no Jackson chameleons in a cage anymore lol. This is a no frills not fancy mini golf, just a basic 18 hole. Matter of fact it's not really maintained well - there were lots of leaves on the course, but I like it because it's like you're in a jungle and it's shaded well! The leaves didn't bother us much, we just whacked them out the way. There were a lot of birds and a lot of lizards! They were fun to watch. At the volcano hole, the left hole is clogged up! So your ball will not come out the other end. The center and right holes are clear. One of our balls got stuck in the left hole so we just blocked it with our foot when others played. When we left we told her one of our balls got stuck, and she said let me guess - left hole volcano? Umm if you know why not clear it or put a sign LMAO. Overall this a cool place to kill some time. If you pay for one round and save your receipt you can come back as much as you want that day! It might just be nostalgia, but we had fun here. read more

For over two years, we have passed this place several times and always wanted to come check this place out. & we finally did! We had planned to go have dinner here and then play. Unfortunately the place had sold out food at 6pm. She said they usually have food an hour before closing. We should've went to go eat before playing because it is all you can play. But next time we know and will plan better. So, we paid for our time and We went to play. They also have discount options! About $9 each. We are signing up for the annual pass next time! Which is only $30 for the whole year! Super easy route, follow the paths. I loved the vibe here. It's so tropical and relaxing. I just wanted to take pictures here. We also came an hour before closing so it was really dark and difficult to see. I was getting annoyed halfway through the path because i was carrying my backpack and jacket. I would leave my stuff in the car next time or not bring it at all. You will be moving a lot. Our game was so close! The loves beat me by 7 points. He hit 71 and I hit 78. Haha. The asian lady at the front was very kind and helpful, taught us how the point system worked, even gave us free ice cream at the end because I was 10m too late and the kitchen closed :( There are 18 levels on the course and with 3 of us it took about an hour to complete, there's some levels that has a spinner where it chooses what you need to do for that level (ie. hit the ball with your foot for the whole level) It discouraged me from going cause I saw some reviews about this place being run down but it looks good to me, i don't expect it to be in pristine condition for the price you pay. The mini golf is cheap and has some minimal tropical theming (big volcano hole is good). It's beautiful course with lots of foliage and many cute wild chickens. Went to play a mini golf and had BBQ afterwards for a Father's Day a day early. We had 6:10pm reservation and played half way with no one in front or back. It got little busier but finished the round in about one hour. Mini golf was fun and spin the wheel located in some holes added more challenge and fun. We ordered a meal package half brisket and half pulled pork with bulls eye bbq sauce. Chosen Mac salad for the side. The portion of the meat was plenty for 4 of us and had some left over to take home. Brisket was so tender was melt in your mouth kine. Mac salad was good also. My son is picky about Mac salad but he even said he liked this one. We also ordered a loaded tots and it was super yummy. Total bill was just over $60 with drinks. I think the price of BBQ is reasonable for the portion compared to other places. I'm glad this place added the food option. I think we'll come back again to enjoy the food and have some fun. Definitely the evening is the best to come play mini golf. I think it can be pretty hot during the day even it is covered with trees and foliage. read more

My fiance and I had come here to order BBQ, not knowing that it was actually IN the mini golf. Skeptical we still ordered our plates. We both ordered the one meat with the brisket. The plates come with rice with a choice of side. Played it safe by getting the baked beans, but when I asked how their black beans were, the lady put in samples of it. The black beans were way better than the baked beans. The smoke flavor of the brisket was by the far the best we ever had. It was so tender, so easy to eat. It is by far the first BBQ plate I EVER finished!!! My fiance is from San Antonio, TX, he was amazed that the best BBQ on the island he had came from this golf course. Lol he did have to teach me what "smokey flavor" to look for when eating BBQ, and he was finally able to teach me with their BBQ. They are better than Tex808 for a small spot. Terrible experience. There was a group of 5 in front of us that took 10 min per hole. The line that they built up was ridiculously long. I called the front desk from the 4th hole to ask them if they could do something about this. The lady said that we could skip holes and come back. The line was so long that we wouldn't be able to make it back onto the holes. At the very least the staff could've came out to kindly ask them to hurry though. I wasn't the only group frustrated at this. The lack of management of people and course is ridiculous. I would definitely not return. read more

First review of 2019! Well deserved! We rented out the "honu" room which is a private room, it's perfect for parties! I chose this venue after looking at photos on my trusty yelp app. This place is photo op life!! Not to mention it's unlimited golfing for 3 hours for all your guests and price was affordable. It's cheaper than most kid friendly venues so those were the things that drew me in. And I'm so glad we chose this place. We arrived to our party late and didn't have much time for set up but the girl at the cashier was soo accommodating. Wish I got her name. She was so sweet and patient with us as we were pretty loud and my guests were all over the place. The honu room was everything I expected and more. It's secluded from the main party area and has lights all over. It gives you a backyard feel which makes it nice and cozy. Big ups for being nicely kept. They also provide you with a table to set up your food. I said I was done with kids parties this year but this place is on my radar for next birthday party lol read more

What a fun place! We were looking for something a little different to do to hang out together as a family and chose here. Great choice. It's a bit rustic, but that adds to the charm. There were a few leaves, but only enough to add slightly to the obstacles. The spinners with extra play rules were really a nice addition and cracked us up. We had soda and loaded tater tots when we were done playing and they were surprisingly good! We have guests coming to visit this summer and we'll be bringing them here! Great time! read more

Arrived at 4:30p after a late lunch. I totally enjoy the tropical vibe at this 18 Hole mini golf whenever I visit, so I tend to choose this place over others. The lush greenery and tree cover helps with providing decent shade. There was 3 in my party so it took us a little over 1 hr to complete the course. It was so nice to see koi and pretty blue sichlid fishes in the pond. I think I noticed that they have brand new table benches since my last visit. The table umbrellas appeared to be the same. I think black umbrellas would be more suitable due to the black moldy appearance scattered over all of the umbrellas. I always blur or cut out the umbrellas in my photos. It would be nice if the fallen leaves on some of the putting greens were cleared out prior to our play. A few of the green putting mats near the holes were really worn out to the core. Overall, we had fun and enjoyed the spinning wheels to make the game a little more exciting and challenging. Next time I'll take a pic of it. We ended our play with a bowl of shave ice at the same window we paid upon entry. What a nice cool treat for only $3.75. There's a few meal items on their menu. I'll be back.... read more

Been in Aiea for 20+ years and only now decided to come and play miniature golf. I was looking for things to do during the summer and stumbled on Tropics on yelp. I was excited to bring my 5 year old here and have a family day with him and my husband. We arrived a little early since we got done with breakfast earlier than expected. The lady (didn't catch her name) opened up exactly at 10AM. She welcomed us, answered all my questions and is very friendly. I picked a good day to go, it wasn't busy at all and no parties. We stayed for little over 2 hours and during that time only 1 other group was there. Only thing was, it was sooo humid that day but it's a good thing cause we got our exercise for the day haha! I love the fact that you can do as many rounds as you'd like and admission is for full day access so you can leave and come back. I believe the latest we could've gone back was 9pm. Both men and women's restroom was clean, napkin and soap restocked. We had lots of fun! We will be returning for another family fun day soon! read more

A friend and I brought our kids here around 7:30 on a Saturday night because the kids were getting on our last nerve. My kids were cooped up all day and have been annoying each other. Tropics had plenty of available parking because there were only 3 other groups there at the same time as us. The course is not very fancy and the place is kind of dated but it felt very safe. The cashier was super friendly and they give kama'aina discount. My only complaint is with how dark the place is. The light bulbs doting the course is the low wattage, energy efficient kind. Their low watt bulbs made me feel like an old lady feeling my way in the dark, all the while complaining about how dark the place is. Oh, and make sure to bring bug spray as the mosquitoes can get aggressive. It was sprinkling on and off the night we were there so the mosquitoes were out on full force. Because the place wasn't crowded the kids got to take their time and the moms got to commiserate on how our kids drive us crazy. Overall, it was worth the $8.00 per child for 45mins. of reprieve from the fighting and name calling. I gave it 4 stars mostly because it's hard to find kid friendly activities close to Mililani at night that doesn't involve video games. read more

Any place you go is only as fun as you make it. I went with my boyfriend and our daughter who is 4 and we had an awesome time together. I haven't been here since it was jungle river. We went up to the window and was greeted immediately. We paid our tickets for 2 adults and 1 child and was then told it was an all day pass. All day pass meaning we could go around the 18 holes as many times as we wanted and even leave and come back if we wanted. I thought that was pretty amazing. After finishing up and turning in our stuff we got to add ourselves to the birthday club. And had some samurai ice cake and nachos! read more
