This place is very meh. Drinks are weak and service can be hit or miss. But what I really don't love is the AUTOMATIC tip that is included AT 20%. While I'm all for tipping. I do not feel this is right, nor is it fair to the customer or staff. This means there is zero separation from good service and bad. Yes, you can tip above and beyond. However, we all know tips are split. So again, automatically including a 20% tip is a complete joke. Laura one of the amazing bartenders at Tropics is not only friendly but knows how to make a good libation! Also, Claudia and Kevin who took the best care of us at our cabana. They would check in on us regularly and even exchanged a few laughs and some good conversation. We thoroughly enjoyed the complimentary cold sodas, water, and fresh fruit plate that came with our cabana. The vibe though was everything the DJ they had on deck was playing all the good jams and not to mention the free tequila and vodka tastings! We had a ball!! read more

I will be perfectly honest, all the food here is bad. Drinks were do-able, but not particularly good either. You drink here for the pool side experience, not at all for food. I stayed at the Hilton for a conference and naturally meandered over the the pool and got some drinks at the pool side bar. The cocktails were kind of one dimensional and the frozen drinks were fun, but melted too quick. I recommend the strawberry mojito because the bits of fruit makes the drink taste more real. Food-wise I tried the Catch of the Day sandwich that somehow had potato chips on it? The Bread was stale, fish was a little overcooked, and overall provided calories, but not by any means a meal I would repeat. I picked at my friend's wings which were covered in a way too sweet glaze and kind of overcooked. Service is slow so make sure to get the check early if you're in a rush and when you go to the bar they usually just tell you to go back and they'll send someone over. read more

Stoped by on the way to airport (had plenty of time to kill) because they offer a day pass for the pool. Once we showed up, they said don't worry about the charge. Staff was super and the drinks were tasty. The food was awful and missing some of the main ingredients. The one staff member explained they are considering a menu revamp and next time we should try the burgers as it is one thing that seems to be consistent. Avoid the chicken and fish dishes as well as the nachos. The nachos came out cold and the cheese wasn't even melted and it is so gross to try and eat cold clumps of shredded chicken on nachos. DO NOT ORDER FOOD HERE! We got grilled chicken for our 1 year old child and it came out as mushy as a sweet potatoe!!! We immediately returned it after trying to cut it, only to find out it was pure mush. The fruit they served our baby was also covered in mold. Everything was horribly overpriced and disgusting! First, we ordered the chips and salsa with a side of queso. The worst I've ever had in my life! The chips were old and stale. The salsa had an old look with sour tomatoes and way too many onions, without any cilantro or garlic. The queso was crusty and funky like an old bowl of cream of crab that was sitting out for 2 hours. My wife and I both ordered the short rib tacos and they were pure disgusting. First, they put these dried pieces of meat on soggy tortillas with a toothpick inside without telling us. Thank God the tortilla fell apart before we found out there was a huge toothpick inside of our taco. Why would you need a large toothpick inside of a shortrib taco? DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE! Our servers were really nice and so were the bartenders but the food is a disgrace. The only thing worth getting here is the beer and that is it. The key to the Tropics Pool Bar is expectations. At a pool bar at a hotel, I don't expect cheap food. I don't expect fantastic food. I expect quick service, good enough food, and a relaxing atmosphere--and that's exactly what Tropics Pool Bar offers. I stopped by with my boyfriend and my mom between laps on the lazy river, and ordered the tropics burger with fries. My boyfriend ordered the same, but with the mango guacamole on the side. If you're going to get this, I'd highly recommend getting the guac on the side--he got 10x more guacamole than I did. I couldn't even taste the guacamole on my burger, whereas he was even able to have extra guac for his fries with his portion! Guacamole aside, the burger was fine--better than most pool bar foods that I've had in the past, with a nice charred taste, but not worth the $13 price tag if it wasn't so convenient. We opted to eat at the bar itself, which had a clean, modern-cabana feel. The setting was relaxing, and our service was quick, so we were able to get right back to the lazy river without killing our pool-day vibe (which is what our day was really about!). Also, for your convenience, there are servers wandering the pool area so you don't even have to get up from your seat to get your lunch on or to grab an extra beverage! read more

For the most part the food was good (as good as it can be at a pool bar), some items were a little over priced, also to be expected. The staff were all very nice and helpful. My only complaint, I was fully prepared to pay a large amount for cocktails at the pool because that's just how it is. However, in exchange for paying a large amount, I also expect to receive a large amount in return. Most hotels do charge more for drinks but I never mind because they are better quality and have more alcohol. I ordered a Mai Tai pitcher I believe, 3 different rums in the description, so I think perf. Pitcher comes and we get barely 2 cups out of it because it was literally alllll ice and pure juice. We tried finding our server to say something but we couldn't find her the 4 hours following. My husband went to the bar to check out and because she was nowhere to be found the bartender was unable to help. Apparently they all take care of their own checks so she'd have to be the one to do it. Just as the bartender is about to create a new check so we can leave she shows up. By this point we're past caring so we pay the exorbitant amount for 2 drinks of juice. This pool bar is newb status, won't be going back to the Hilton Orlando for this reason. read more

Literally the worst service. Sat down at the same time as the people at the next table. They proceeded to receive a menu, get drinks, order, eat, and pay for their bill before someone gave me a menu. Several times the same waitress as the table next to me said "be right there". I attempted to ask other servers for a menu and was repeatedly told my server would be right with me. 40min until I got a menu. 60min when I got my sandwich, which was soggy and barely edible. Never got the drink I ordered. Finally get my bill and I waited 15min for someone to take my debit card but no one did. Finally I left all the cash I had, which covered the bill itself but no tip. Michelle was courteous, accommodating & attentive. Our food orders were appealing to the eyes & tasted appetizing. There are pool table & foot ball table near Tropics; water slide with lifeguard supervision; lazy river; adult pool; spa cabanas; basketball courts; volleyball court. Pretty limited menu but the food offered is well above a pool snack bar. I would say they do a better job with drinks. Serving a variety of wine, beer, and cocktails. Even frozen fruit drinks. We didn't have to wait long for the drinks and he remembered what we needed every time! The daiquiri's were good! We had a great experience here. We had a party of 11 that all wanted food from the Bistro. Our server, jasper took our order(with Many dietary restrictions and modifications) and went to get it for us. It was amazing! He was a great help, and even pointed out gratuity was included. It took almost 2 hours to grab anyone's attention patiently sitting on our 5 lawn chairs together and after we did get someone's attention he forgot about us and never came back and a half hour later we got up to stop in front of a waiter just to get his attention and made our order of 2 cheeseburgers and fries, chicken fingers and fries, mediterranean flat bread and a Caesar salad and it took almost 45 minutes to receive the food and the French fries were all stale in the 3 meals... the Mediterranean flat bread was different than what I've eaten before but was really good and I would order that again... the $15 Caesar salad came on a small appetizer plate NOT IN A BOWL.... which equaled maybe two full leaves of romaine lettuce and a half of a chicken breast which was like minced meat ... and no one gave us silverware to eat our food with so we had to wait another 10-15 minutes to receive that.....at first I complained to my family because there wasn't enough to feed a 4 year old but once I started eating it I couldn't even eat half of it because the chicken wasn't a real chicken breast and ruined the whole salad... the next time I'm at Hilton in Orlando I won't be eating at this venue again. read more
