Made a reservation here for a Tuesday at 9 but it was not that busy so you probably don't need it at around that time. The place is very elegant and bougie with the dim lighting. We split the platter of dips as an appetizer which includes hummus, tzatziki and muhamarra. You get a lot of quantity but we did have to order another plate of bread (which was nothing special). The tzatziki is incredible and easily the best of the 3 dips - just creamy enough but full of flavor. The hummus is below average and probably the worst of the 3 (just a little bit better than store bought). The muhamarra is tasty but has a lot of nuts in it and is not as smooth to eat. For the main course, I had the moussaka (there are only two vegetarian options on the dinner menu). It was awesome! Even though it looks very rich with the cheese on top, it is filled with tasty lentils on the bottom and mixes really well with the cheese layer. It might have been just a bit too much food, but I was able to finish it. Overall the meal is definitely a bit on the pricier side even thought it says only two dollar signs so be prepared for that. But in terms of taste and quality, it's hard to beat this for a Mediterranean meal around Fillmore. read more

I have always loved Troya for the food and for the vibe but tonight I am motivating to write a review because of the incredible customer service! I was confused about something with my order and the staff was laser focused on making sure I was happy. The person behind the counter responded with "what can we do to help/make this better" vs. being defensive and I really appreciated that. They were very generous and what could have left a sour taste in my mouth turned into a beautiful act of kindness. Troya really stepped up to be sure I was a happy customer. Your Turkish breakfast for two was worth the drive! Very authentic Turkish breakfast similar to what we had in Istanbul, which the public is not aware of how this breakfast is prepared. The serving is just like out charcuterie, with lots of varieties & flavors, like olives, sweetened sesame tahini, sweetened clotted cream (kaymak, pepper walnut paste (muhamarra) egg recipe (menemen), similar to eggs in Purgatory, served with Siimit, borek, & fita bread. I went back to Troya for lunch with another Vegan friend knowing they could find something here. As a non-vegan I ordered their lamb which the owner said was a house specialty. We also had wine recommended to us by the owner. The lamb was amazing, it was so good I think I could eat it every day. It was not a huge serving so I felt great after, it was so tender and flavorful, amazing! My friend had a vegan wrap; the harrissa they use was so good and the falafel was so perfect my friend was convinced the dish had dairy and egg. We also shared a dip platter which was perfect. If this review was based just on food I'd probably be tempted to give it 5 stars. This is good, authentic mediterranean food that will give you a bang for your buck. Unfortunately the service was not very friendly or helpful. Our water glasses were empty most of the dinner and when we asked for some suggestions on the menu our waiter just told us it was all good. What I love about ethnic cuisine is its authenticity. None of that dumbed down fusion sh*t for me puhlease. For Italian, I want hearty, stick-to-your-rubs rustic dishes. Great outdoor dining scene (heat lamps included!) in a fun neighborhood. This was my first time having Turkish food, and it didn't disappoint. Highly recommend splitting a bunch of appetizers - brussel sprouts are usually my favorite vegetable but they were a bit too greasy here (very very crispy though!). I loved the roasted cauliflower, which was well-roasted and very flavorful. A close second favorite of mine was the assortment of Humus, Tzatziki, and Muhammara dips, which comes with an ample serving of warm pita. The Turkish spiced fries were a crowd favorite...you can tell how tasty it was by the fact that we inhaled the first order and got 2 more orders. We also split chicken and lamb kebabs. The Lamb bacon was great, loved the scallops and the peach salad was a nice light touch. Our server Veronica was a doll and the food was well paced. 3.75ish: Pretty tasty! The authentic and delightful Turkish smells wafting out of this place are incredible! My bff and I showed up at 5:30pm on a Friday night. Made a reservation but they couldn't find it. It was practically empty when we arrived so it wasn't a problem. We were seated in a cute wooden booth. Not the most comfy but nice. My fried started with a Turkish beer and we ordered a few small plates. Decided on the spiced fries ($6.50), dolmas ($12) and grilled cauliflower ($10). The fries were perfectly seasoned without being salty and came with a lemony garlic mayo. Fries were crispy and hot just like I like it! The dolmas were my favorite dish of the entire meal. Four baby cabbage rolls stuffed with delicious beef and topped with a bright tomato sauce and a sexy tzatziki type white sauce. OMG I could eat those everyday! The grilled cauliflower was smokey and tender without being mushy. Served with the sexy tzatziki on the bottom of the dish. Overall, they supply several fantastic vegetable offerings here. For our mains we split the vegetable moussaka and the salmon kebab platter. Moussaka was just ok in my opinion. Didn't taste the béchamel sauce at all. It was kinda dry without it and the lentils were hard. It wasn't completely hot all the way through, either. It came with a deliciously moist, well seasoned rice with slivered almonds on top. The two sauces served with the meal were excellent as well but I would not order the moussaka again. I've had better. Salmon kebab was meaty and juicy. Perfectly cubed and served with kebab veggies that were grilled properly. It came with a simple, yet well dressed salad and yummy spiced rice with a creamy-spicy sauce on top.
