Troya is on available on Doordash for delivery :) We ordered a chicken pita, braised lamb shoulder bowl, and fries! We particularly enjoyed the lamb bowl. Rice and meat were both flavorful, and lamb was very tender as well. I also liked that the salad was packaged on the side (not pictured) to ensure freshness. The chicken pita was great as well, but the pita bread was slightly drier than I would've liked. The chicken was still delicious and I liked the hummus in the pita pocket a lot. I'm a huge lamb lover and Troya happened to have lamb chomps. They were pretty good, but not to die for. I asked for them to be cooked medium rare, and they came well/well done. Perhaps they aren't use to people requesting a certain way due to the thinness of the cut. They were overly seasoned as well. The Brussels sprouts were also over seasoned. So when I walked by this place the week of my birthday and saw their selection in the window, I first thought, "Just one," but it's my birthday weekend/month, "TREAT YO SELF," I second thought. I walked into the establishment and to my surprise, what I thought was a grab n' go Turkish eatery was a cute restaurant. A cute restaurant that was practically empty at 3pm on a beautiful sunny summer day in San Francisco. Two young female employees chatted while doing mobile hand exercises at the back of the restaurant, while a waiter with pastel pink hair that reminded me of the rose water Turkish delight in the window, attended to the only occupied table in the restaurant. The waiter made an acknowledging gesture in my direction, to which I nodded, as he handed the table a Square device to pay for their bill. I looked over the brunch, wine and cocktail menu. No Turkish delight menu? No matter. My birthday is tomorrow, "I'm having one of everything," said my inner birthday boy. I glanced back at the staff: the waiter- perched on the edge of the table, micromanaging the check signing of his only table. The rest of the visible staff: in their respective mobile black holes. With a chuckle I walked out. I collected my patiently waiting dog and turned towards the restaurant to see the waiter's head sticking out the store front window with a silent dumbfounded look as I looked at him comically and said, "That took waayy to long," as my dog and I continued our stroll down Fillmore street. Came here with a friend at about 6:45pm on a Sunday. We had a reservation, but probably didn't need one. There are high top tables and regular seating. The service was really nice and attentive. We decided to get two things to share: the Vegetable Moussaka with lentils, eggplant, zucchini, potatoes, and bechamel sauce ($17.50) and a Organic Chickpea Falafel Bowl ($12) with hummus, pita, greens, avocado, feta, and herb yogurt. The Vegetable Moussaka in its appearance, looked like a Shepard's pie, but was amazing. It was savory, filling, and had a nearly perfect balance of flavors. The only thing I would say is that there was a tad too much bechamel sauce on top for me that caused it to be a bit heavy. The Falafel Bowl was a perfect, lighter dish that paired nicely with the heavier Vegetable Moussaka dish. The falafels were well done, not over cooked and the pita was good. I would have liked more tomatoes, as we got about 2 in the salad. I would definitely return...Maybe for lunch to try the wraps that they don't have at dinner or for brunch to try the Shakshuka! read more

It's been a very long time since I've been here, and I'm glad Troya is surviving the pandemic. They have both indoor and outdoor seating. And their indoor seating include plexiglass dividers. My friend and I ordered almost the entire small plate menu. The waitress asked if we wanted to do the vegetarian meal for 2 instead, but I'm not a fan of moussaka because I don't like eggplant. But it is the more economical option. So we ordered the Brussels sprouts, roasted cauliflower, hummus combo, fries, and falafels. They were all pretty good! I think the falafels were overdone a bit, but I still enjoyed them. The sprouts had that char that I love, and they were crispy. The roasted cauliflower also had a good char to it. The fries were yummy, too. After awhile it does get a little salty from the seasoning, but again I still enjoyed them. I really loved the hummus combo, which came with tzatziki and muhamara. I really liked the muhamara! I don't know what the ingredients are, but what I can say I enjoyed the bright flavors and the crunch of the walnuts. We also ordered Turkish hot tea, and I liked the hint of bitterness to it and the lemon wedge. The baklava was okay. I've been spoiled because I have neighbors who are chefs from Jordan, and they made fresh baklava for my building's holiday party. They've set the bar pretty high for me. I made reservations through OpenTable where I listed mine and my friend's allergies. I really appreciate the staff making sure we knew which dish had what, and overall accommodating to our allergies. Roasted cauliflower and Brussels sprouts are one of my favorite veggie dishes, and I would come back to Troya for them. Definitely check them out. read more

We had Lamb shank and it was the biggest waste of $60.00 for Lunch, I have ever spent in any Mediterranean restaurant anywhere! The presentation was horrible and worst of all. It was cold, at least a day old if not older. I ate what I could. Eventually I spit it into a paper napkin. I am not one to complain, however this was not something I could just overlook. The Hummus, Tzatziki & Muhamara appetizer was delicious. The cauliflower appetizer was soggy and just ok. Went with a group of friends last weekend. My sister ordered a lamb salad and I ordered the lamb dish with extra greens. When the meals came out, they said they had a chicken salad. No one in my group ordered that, but somehow the waiter said that's what my sister got and gave it to her. They came back a minute later with more food, some of it wrong Again. They traded my sister her chicken salad for what perhaps was a lamb salad this time. They took an extra 10 minutes to bring my lamb dish with extra greens, that somehow didn't seem to have the ingredients I expected. Towards the end of the meal, we realized that the dishes my sister and I had were flipped (I was on a special diet so the realization came when I realized what one of the ingredients were and that that same ingredient was missing from her dish!). If you are confused about this story, that's good. It was super confusing for about 25 minutes for all of us at the table. The waiters seemed to be clueless. They gave us each little bites of balaclava in the attempt to make it right. Then I got the bill and just threw my credit card in it. After it came back I realized I should probably have read the bill. Just had a gut feeling... Sure enough, they overcharged us. The salad my sister got was charged for the salad, add lamb, and add chicken. A whooping $27 Salad. That they technically never even gave her or me. This service just isn't acceptable. They didn't apologize when I brought up the error and of course they didn't allow me to adjust the tip at this point. Normally, I love dining at Troya and have been a loyal customer for awhile now. However, I recently placed a takeout order (chicken kebabs) and came back home to find that every piece was completely raw. I ended up having to cook the chicken as it was completely inedible. When I called to let Troya know, the man told me they were too busy to look into it and that I'd have to call back later. Customer service was a bit lacking to say the least. Came here for a dinner date. I made a reservation for two at 6:30pm. By the time we got to the restaurant, there was a lot of tables open. I was wondering if I could have walked in but the tables quickly filled up. I ordered roasted cauliflowers and fries. The cauliflowers were good, but not worth the price (12$). The fries were really tasty and I would order it again. I ordered the ground lamb and my boyfriend got the dumplings. The dumplings were cute and small. There was a burst of flavor from each dumplings. The lamb was cooked medium rare. It was very juicy. It comes with a small salad. Out of all the things, I enjoyed the dumplings. Lamb had a strong taste that it's a preference dish. I didn't particularly like it as much as my boyfriend. The customer service was nice. They came to check if we had any questions. It wasn't anything special nor bad. They came around to take the dirty plates and the pacing of the food to come out was good. The atmosphere: we came here on a Friday for lunch. The restaurant was about half empty, making it not too loud, a great space to catch up with friends. The decor inside is very clean and simple. The food: The lunch menu was pretty limited. It was basically either kebabs or salad. I wish there was more variety on the lunch menu. I had the chicken kebab, and found it to be pretty mediocre. The meat wasn't particularly flavorful, was a bit dry, and I wish they offered something other than a yogurt sauce to go with it. The yogurt sauce they have is very tart and completely overpowers the taste of anything you dip into it. I order chicken kebabs quite a bit at various Mediterranean restaurants, I usually love the yogurt sauce with dill, but this one just didn't do it for me. The rice that comes with the dish is decent, and it has a nice red sauce on it. I wish they would add more of it than barely a teaspoon, would add more flavor to the dish. The price: I paid $22 total for a chicken kebab plate and a sparkling water. A bit expensive for a lunch size portion, and more expensive than many of the surrounding Mediterranean restaurants in the area. The service: you order at the counter at the very front, take a number, and then the food is brought to your table. Not much direct service involved, but the worker who took our order was very pleasant. read more

I was confused about something with my order and the staff was laser focused on making sure I was happy. The person behind the counter responded with "what can we do to help/make this better" vs. being defensive and I really appreciated that. They were very generous and what could have left a sour taste in my mouth turned into a beautiful act of kindness. Troya really stepped up to be sure I was a happy customer. The serving is just like out charcuterie, with lots of varieties & flavors, like olives, sweetened sesame tahini, sweetened clotted cream (kaymak, pepper walnut paste (muhamarra) egg recipe (menemen), similar to eggs in Purgatory, served with Siimit, borek, & fita bread. After taking the free 90-minute walking tour on Broadway/Pacific Heights offered by Haas-Lilienthal House, we were famished and in dire need of some good hearty lunch. We spotted this restaurant on Fillmore and decided this was it right away. We grabbed one last table that was available.
