This hidden gem is located at the Four Points by Sheraton Hotel. They have their own entrance but is also connected to the hotel. I came in on a Saturday around lunch time and there was no wait. In fact, there wasn't anyone else eating, and one bartender, one server, and one other employee on staff. I received quick and friendly service nonetheless. I ordered the Signature Chicken and Waffles, which came with 2 strips of bacon, maple syrup and buttermilk gravy sauce, which I requested on the side. The menu indicated that this was $15, but the check said $13, so I think the lunch price may be $13. Either way, it felt like I got $2 off a really good dish. The wait wasn't long before the goodies arrived. I must say, this was like a gourmet chicken and waffle dish. There were 2 strips of crispy bacon layered on 2 fried chicken breast tenders, perfectly fried atop a soft waffle. The waffle may have been too soft as it crumbled when I tried to cut it, but it was tasty despite this. There was a bowl of gravy on the side and about a 1/4 cup to 1/2 cup of maple syrup, which paired perfectly well with the chicken and waffle. What a combo! An exceptional balance of sweet and savory. For those reviewers who were disappointed by the tastelessness of the dish, I think they must have come on an off day because the chicken was juicy and tender and wasn't overly salty. I really enjoyed this dish and highly recommend it. In fact, I would order this again and again. I ended lunch with their bread pudding ($7 but free with Yelp check-in. Score!). It came in a cute af mini cast iron skillet and topped with 2 scoops of ice cream and pecans. No joke, this was THE BEST bread pudding I ever had, and I've been to New Orleans. It was soft and had the right amount of sweet and the perfect amount of ice cream. It was so fresh my mouth was still hot from biting into it. I'm a huge fan of bread pudding and always order it when I see it on a menu, even when I'm too full to indulge. Because hell, when I'm ever gonna get a chance to eat bread pudding again? If anything, come for this. Don't even share it. Get your own. You'll thank me later. It's well worth the $7 price tag and then some. Especially since my server overdid it on the ice cream. When I think of Anaheim I think of Mickey Mouse and tourists galore. Rarely, do I think about it being a destination for authentic ethnic food - let alone solid Taiwanese food. On a friend's recommendation I decided to check out Tru Grits to see what they're all about as good Taiwanese food outside of Taiwan is hard to come by. Located on the Sheralton property, self-parking is very difficult. Thankfully, the restaurant validates up to 2 hours of Valet parking when patrons get a stamp from the bar. The restaurant environment mimics the farm-to-table concept, but the dishes take me back to my Asian roots. The Taiwanese Minced Pork Rice dish ($9) was so simple, but packed with immense flavor and the Free-Range Hainan Quarter chicken ($13) with savory rice and pickled vegetables was so moist and tender. However, the signature tycoon beef short rib ($23) was easily the highlight of the night. When I cut into the meat, it just fell right off the bone and paired with garlic mashed potatoes and asparagus made it a complete meal. The value on this particular dish is very reasonable, without compromising the taste. We ended our meal with some traditional American faire and the bread pudding with ice cream is a must. I'm on a low carb diet for 2018, but this dish is definitely a decadent and wonderful treat. The presentation is wonderful as it's delivered in a small cask-iron pan, and the taste is equally impressive. Get this and you will not be sorry! Orange County isn't typically known as an authentic Asian cuisine location. I typically drive up to the 626 area for that; however, I'm happy to welcome a great local option that's just footsteps away from "The Happiest Place on Earth." Cheers! read more

Wow, I am just blown away by the experience I had here with my friend. Everything from the ambiance, food, and service was amazing. Hint: The restaurant is connected to the four stars hotel so you can turn left after you enter the driveway and park anywhere along the left hand side of the lot. There's also additional parking in the back if you keep driving past the barred entrance. I ordered the pink lemonade, popcorn chicken for my appetizer, and balsamic glazed salmon for my entree. While my friend ordered the coconut shrimp for her appetizer and the short rib for her entree (which was to die for!). I think overall, I enjoyed her choices better than mine, but everything was delicious none the less. Popcorn chicken - The batter was so crispy and perfectly crunchy, while the chicken was juicy and full of flavor! Tasted like it came freshly out of the deep fryer. Seasoning was perfect. Coconut shrimp - Oh man, I'm honestly not a fan of coconut but I could eat this shrimp for days. Right when you bite into it, this subtle sweetness hits your tongue and then it's followed by the bold savory flavor of the shrimp. I was pleasantly surprised by how much I ended up liking this. Balsamic Salmon with Angel Hair pasta - This was a good, hearty plate. I enjoyed it and thought it was delicious, but probably would opt for the short rib instead :) Short Rib with Mashed Potatoes and Asparagus - I literally can't stop thinking about this dish. The meat just fell off the bone effortlessly and every bite was just so juicy and packed with flavor. The food and service here is amazing. We were able to watch the fireworks in the pool area after our meal! Breakdown of the food: Calamari was amazing and very well seasoned and perfectly crispy. The tuna wontons were crispy and satisfy. The wasabi cream was a good touch. The Char-boiled New York steak definitely had the Char-boiled flavor. It had a simple delicious seasoning and the mashed potatoes were very creamy. My friend's short ribs were very savory. I ate a very fatty and satisfying bite of that one. Came here with the family, and our food took 45 min to come out, even though we were 1 of 3 tables in the restaurant. The servers were more focused on the empty tables than they were on us...so we kept having to ask for plates, silverware, napkins, water..etc. They just dropped everything off in piles for us to hand out ourselves. All this - and they had the nerve to add 20% tip on the bill for a larger group (of 8). Of course we paid it, but we didn't feel good about the experience. I absolutely loved this place. Parking was easy and the valet opened the door for my friend and I. We sat down and was attended to immediately by our server Bogar. We eat got an appetizer, entree, and dessert. We had a lovely girls day out. I ordered the Brussels sprouts and she order the fries. I cannot tell you how much we enjoyed them. The sauce with the fries was savory and way better than the average ketchup. My Brussels were splashed with balsamic vinegar and were sweet and savory. I then ordered the New York steak and she had the mac n cheese. We shared everything. My steak was cooked exactly how I asked it to be and the mashed potatoes were buttery and creamy. I made reservations for 1 and came a bit early... but when I got there it was maybe one other table occupied for the entire restaurant. Our server was really trying. I absolutely had nothing against him since he was doing the hostess, server, cashier and bartender jobs by himself. It was seriously just him working. I almost felt bad for the guy when he forgot my olives for the Bloody Mary and I didn't want to interrupt as he was trying to juggle multiple jobs but I needed my olives! The kids ordered Mac and cheese and cheese pizza. We ordered the Brussels sprouts , fries, lobster roll and the chicken and waffle for the adults. I loved my visits here and bartender, Frank, is a tru' gem. Frank allowed me to craft my own cocktails using ingredients from a few different cocktails. Everything he made was fresh and consistent. I wish the bar was larger since some days/times it was a bit tough to find a spot since they maybe have six bar stools total. I especially loved their creme brulee, which was delicious and more than enough for one person. If you are staying at the Sheraton Four Points, they also host an all-you-can-eat breakfast here and for just $14 a person (adults), and it is more than worth it. We were lucky enough to stay at the connected hotel and with four kids, decided dining in at the hotel might save us a trip. What luck we had! The restaurant was pretty empty, probably cuz folks haven't picked up on the great happy hour and delicious Asian fusion here! Hurry before everyone finds out. Great ambiance, brightly lit with open windows and dark wood tables, large spacious and comfy booths for families and friends, three TV screens and a fully stocked bar. I kinda sorta wanted to order everything on the happy hour menu, but my waistline post partum and screaming baby made it tough. We ended up getting a ton anyway, cuz apparently that's how we roll. The poke tacos were delicious! Had avocado and seaweed salad on top and the chips they rested on were crunchy and fresh. The carbonara was excellent, the bacon just melted in my mouth and my kids preferred sharing this over a kids meal. The Hainan chicken (we were told it was a free range chicken) was like we were dining in the San Gabriel Valley, also delicious and a nice return to my hometown far away from there in the world of Disney town. I also had the beef noodle soup because I wanted some protein with veggies (saved the noodles for later cuz the hotel has a fridge! Score!) and the meat was so soft and tender. They currently have a check in order for dessert, so my kids opted for the bread pudding which came in a mini skillet and with ice cream... it went fast and furious and we had an educational conversation about how bread pudding is made (normally). Called in an order the lady on the phone was very professional and accommodating. This restaurant is an asian fusion type place. We ordered the carbonara, calamari, salmon fried rice, Brussels sprouts, and lobster ravioli. The best dishes was the carbonara, Brussels sprouts, and calamari. The carbonara isn't traditional because they use an Alfredo y type of sauce but the pancetta they use is nice and salty. If you're not into Brussels sprouts or vegetables you should definitely try the ones here. It's really flavorful but still has a nice crunch The calamari is good even when we order take out. The salad was pretty simple but was very refreshing - the chicken was quite tender and dressing wasn't overbearing. I hardly ever finish anything but I cleaned out the salad. The sandwich was standard but had a good balance of flavors too. The vibe of the place is more casual, bordering on hip and rustic. Would be a nice place to grab a beer and order off their happy hour menu. It seemed somewhat empty but I think that's because it's still new and people haven't found out about it yet. Heard about the restaurant through Theresa Lin's radio show. As a big fan of hers, I certainly wanted to give a restaurant where she partially manages a try. We ordered four dishes: Hainan Chicken Rice: a Southern Chinese classic, and pretty well made. The chicken was moist and tender and the rice was very flavorful. Personally think the three sauce are a bit overkill (the scallion sauce is the traditional and the one that goes best with the chicken), but the variety of flavors were nice. Signature Tycoon Beef Short Rib: this was really the highlight of the meal. Really I have nothing to complain about this dish. The beef rib was falling off the bone tender. The garlic mash, sauteed mushrooms, and asparagus all complement the meat very well. Portion is huge and really a bargain at $23. Tru Grits Secret Beef Noodle Soup: this one came a bit short. Another Taiwanese classic, so to be fair this had a lot to live up to. The soup, veggies, and noodles were all good, but the problem was the beef. The slices were too thick, and the meat was far too lean. The result was a rather dry beef that lacked flavor. It was OK, but really not great. Taiwanese minced pork over rice: another classic. The portion was again huge for $6, and the minced pork was very good. However, the egg on the side, which should be a soy egg (brined in soy sauce/herbs), was instead a tea egg that was very bland, and tasted almost like a hard-boiled egg. Also nothing worth writing home about. Service was a bit slow, but understandable since there was only one person manning both the bar and the dining room. Some of the silverware were a bit dirty (one of my chopsticks literally had black grease that I could scrape off from it, which was kind of disgusting). Overall, I came in with very high expectations and was a bit underwhelmed. Two out of the dishes were good (one was great), and the other two not so much. Given the many great reviews though, I really would like to give this place another chance and try some of their dishes beyond the Chefs' Specials menu. For now I'll give it 3 stars, but I really hope to up that once I try again. read more

Fantastic Restaurant! I loved all the flavors here. The restaurant is a little non traditional (IE No hostess, large open area, kinda come and serve type deal). However, the food is great. The Duck Confit fries are perfectly crispy, even though they are cooked with Duck Fat. The Crispy Coconut Shrimp is fantastic with the cocktail sauce that it is served with. I had the Korean Philly which is made with Beef Bulgogi (YUM!), and my GF had the ribs. So tasty, and great value too! Apparently they have a breakfast buffet too! I will have to try! read more

This restaurant is inside the ménage hotel. I asked the bartender to make some recommendations and he said a lot of people order the burger and flat iron steak. I opted for the burger . The burger is very large, and has a good taste. The bacon they topped the burger with tasted a bit stale as if it was served in the morning for breakfast. The fries that came with the burger were not made fresh and the oil used to make them was not fresh. This review is based on my attempt to try what appears to be amazing food at Tru Grits for lunch today. I expected to order take out, not dine in. I called the number on Apple Maps which matches the number on their website. The hotel picks up and, after the initial confusion of feeling like you called the wrong number, the gentlemen stated that he was pretty sure that they are closed. I said that it shows open on their website and Apple Maps, so he transferred me. A lady picked up and when I asked if they were open for take out, she let out an angry sigh and said "only breakfast today", and hung up. I wanted to ask "how would I know this?" But she had hung up on me. I'm not sure what I did wrong, I'm not a mind reader and hoped to eat what again looks like very good food, no issue with take out. We stayed at the hotel ménage and decided to give the restaurant a try from on the great yelp reviews I saw. My husband and I are so glad we did! We had the following items: Fried calamari Wedge salad Clam chowder Cranberry turkey Brie sandwich (we shared) The calamari was so tender I loved it, the cocktail sauce was also nice and tangy. I tried my husbands clam chowder and it was really tasty as well not to thick and not to watery. My wedge salad was delicious, super fresh ingredients, and my salad very crisp fresh. Our turkey sandwich was so delicious and sweet, the Brie made it very soft, and the crispy wheat bread made it a perfect sandwich. The waitress was so sweet she brought out the turkey sandwich on two plates since I had previously told her we were going to share. She checked up on us but not overbearing. Tru Grits My evening began when I entered Tru Grits, an Asian American restaurant located on the right as you entered the Four Points Hotel I was seated by a gentleman who sat us at a table against the wall. There I ordered for my first portion of my meal an appetizer; fried calamari with a side of a delicious dip. Before my taste buds knew what hit them I found myself ordering my entree, beer battered fish and chips with a side of ketchup and tartar sauce. The French fries were beautifully seasoned and the fish was soft and to the right degree. I found I had no resistance when my waiter read me off the dessert choices, and I decided on the delicate Crème Brûlée. Distancing from my luxurious meal, the atmosphere did not fail to heighten my experience. The kind and welcoming staff did not hesitate to courteously check up on the experience of my meal, and when I needed anything they were sure to accommodate. The low lit lighting kept my eyes unwithered. This was much appreciated as it did not distract me from my meal. I would highly recommend this eatery as it fulfilled my expectations. read more

Server was really polite and checked on us appropriately. Ambience: it's what you would typically expect of an open restaurant in a hotel. It's got the nice touches of nice centerpieces and clean tables, but nothing overly fancy where I felt like I had to dress really nice or anything. My friend and I agreed that we could see a proposal happening here, but also not really haha... Food: just OK. There definitely wasn't anything wrong with the food at all and nothing was bad tasting. It was just average. I got the salmon fried rice and it was good--a bit salty but still tasty. Their menu seems to change from time to time so be mindful of that. Management needs work. Ordered from DoorDash for pick up because it popped up in the "closest to you" because I was staying at the hotel. Sent my girlfriend to grab it and she was told that "they don't have DoorDash". I called to clarify because I'm physically looking at the restaurant on the app only to be told by the current manager that the employee was correct. He blamed it on the previous manager and directed me to DoorDash support. They tried calling (with no answer) to confirm I was telling the truth about not receiving my order... and was given the run around until I had to escalate the problem within DoorDash until a manager just gave me my money back on the app. Pure inconvenience and an "oh well" attitude from the staff like this sort of issue doesn't effect the customer. Just "yea no, sorry" but no help fixing an issue they caused. Take your restaurant off the app and if the problem persists... at least try to pick up the phone so the customer doesn't look like they're trying to steal food they never received. read more

Both of our drinks (specialty margaritas) were really good and reasonably priced, especially for a hotel bar. Our kid had the kids PB&J. Unless your kid has a mouth the size of a gorilla, I don't recommend this. It's a monster sandwich on two slices of Texas toast and it's packed with jelly. I had to send it back as our kid literally couldn't fit it in his mouth and the jelly was oozing out. This place is super cute and trendy, located at the corner of Harbor and Ball. Parking: there is a designated area for restaurant parking. There's always an attendant in front - so Disneyland parking is not allowed. Entrance was easy to spot. Cashier, hostess, waitress, and even chef were all friendly. Guests come in waves... like people who are waiting to check in, tourists, etc So as a local, it was fun people watching. We missed the HH specials by half an hour, BOO traffic. But the food we ordered were quite enjoyable. Noms: -Chicken wings. Order the sauce on the side bc I like to control my sauce to meat ratio. -Poke nachos -Fries -Old Fashioned (the cup was quite small compare to other bars for $10) -Julip (yummy, but small for $11) I would def other the apps again. Best part of our hotel stay! Highlights were the Poke Wonton Nachos, Crispy Brussel Sprouts, Blackened Ahi Salad, and best of all the Salmon Fried Rice! Kids menu was standard and did the job. Service was as good as it gets- fun attitude, great suggestions, prompt, and a good photo taker (a must for my wife!). read more

For my friend birthday she wanted different kind of food other than Asian food! The server that we had were very nice and out going! Love his present! Oh and also this place is located in a hotel! Food was not bad not delicious. It was over price for the taste. Oh also if you check in they give you a free dessert! The bread putting was ok on the dry side! The creme brûlée was ok too! I had the chicken and waffles! The flavor is too overwhelming! Everything didn't go together! Mind you that meal was 16 dollar! My friend ordered the salmon and noodles which was 24 dollars.
